NEW Manager JUSTINE canceled my membership for wearing "The Rock" brand cut off workout shirt! I've been a member at planet fitness in Appleton WI West for over 10 years and absolutely loved the atmosphere. That was until last week when a new "Manager" was hired. My 14 year old son and I were working out and she discriminated and harassed me, also went as far as calling the local Police to escort me out! (Humiliated) As I looked around others were wearing the same type and brand shirt which I made her aware of. She stated it looks different on you because it shows more of your chest, "this was discrimination" it's because I have a wider frame body! Unfortunately because of a single employee I'll be moving to another gym along with my wife and 4 children. If you're looking for a gym I would NOT recommend Planet Fitness Appleton WI West!!!! read more

Yeah don't get the "black card". They'll treat your guests like criminals. I was my sister's guest and while my sister was walking in to put her stuff in the front lockers by the check in desk, I followed after my sister. The lady attendant totally freaked out and was trying to stop me from going any further as if I was going to ease my way into the gym. It looked like she was the FBI and her life depended on stopping me from going any further into the gym. Teach your attendants to chill tf out. Nobody needs to "sneak" into the gym. I was considering just signing up for a membership instead of being a guest, but wow, no thanks. read more

I stopped by Planet Fitness this morning to finally see what all the fuss is about and find a reasonably-priced gym before winter hits us in the face. At first, I thought I was in for some purple-hued foolishness, after seeing the "no lunks" and "free pizza" commercials. And that is what I get for pre-judging in the "no judgement zone." This location was very clean, peaceful and had only a handful of people working out around 7:45-8:00 a.m. The blinds were closed so outsiders could not gaze in while people were trying to work out in peace. Mason was the PF rep at the front desk when I came in. He was polite and receptive to my request to find out what this gym was all about. I was given a short tour on the spot and was impressed by what I saw. Mason showed me all of the features of the gym, told me about the specials PF was currently running and was patient and friendly with me and my questions. The machines are new and there are plenty of them. The environment was clean, spacious and the music was at a nice level. I foresaw my workout feeling like a pleasant experience, rather than a thrash-metal rage induced lift session as I have experienced in the past. Granted I could lift through all of that, but I am in the mood for peaceful lifting. A trainer (Katie?) is available to help you plan your workouts. This is exactly what I want because I have not lifted for awhile and need (want) to be pointed in the right direction. There are two membership options, one for $10 and the other for $20 per month. If I decide to join PF, I will go for the $20 option, since it includes the "hydro-massage," massage chairs, tanning and ability to work out at all locations. There are other perks to this one as well, but I do not remember them off hand. In short, I was pleased with what I saw of PF and appreciated how I was welcomed to this gym. I've been a regular at this Planet Fitness location for more than 6 years. It's convenient to stay, and more inconvenient to change membership. I am a Black card member, and relatively frequently enjoy the perks of use of the hydro massage and use of other facilities. The gym is moderately crowded in the "after" work hours, but nothing like other bigger city PF locations I have been too. I have never had to wait for a machine or treadmill here. Sometimes the area around the weights and mirrors is a bit congested, but usually there's always a bench available to use. The locker room is usually very clean. Fresh flowers often adorn the sink area, and I think that is a nice touch. I've never used the showers at this location, but I think everything looks pretty clean. The staff are quite friendly, and always say hi and "have a good day" when you enter and leave the gym. I don't give 5 stars because it's limited from an overall gym perspective - no pool, no group classes, but it's pretty sufficient for the self-directed fitness aficionado. Free pizza and bagels in the first week of the month are ok...but sometimes you can see the "free pizza" hounds that are only there for free food - that's weird. read more

So I have gone to the YMCA and it is the armpit of the world when compared to the awesome Planet Fitness Appleton. Peter S. is a great ambassador for Planet Fitnesses. Clean no-nonsense workout environment where I can always find a elliptical so can get my cardio and watch tv at the same time. The manager puts fresh flowers in the women's bathroom and I'm comfortable showering there because it's tidy and clean. Staff is friendly and other members do clean off their equipment after using and I appreciate that! read more

I regularly workout at a Planet Fitness in my home town and love it. Now I'm working away from home so stopped at this location while I'm away. Feels like a weld of difference. Lots of lockers in the men's room but barely any seating to get changed. The few times I've stopped in at night the floors in the restroom always had junk in it while the 2-3 people working there are just hanging out at the front and not being busy. You'd think they'd peak their heads in there and check them now and then. Dumbbells and barbells are nice and so are all the cardio machines. However some of the machines don't have weights labeled in the plates. Can't quite tell what some of them were. Not terrible place but definitely makes me miss mine back home. read more

Horrible gym where trash is usually overflowing. People come here for socialization and pick ups. Not a serious gym for working out.
