I see some have complained about life guards, but I didn't see anything out of line. No food or drink other than some vending machines, but they let you bring in whatever you want. My only complaint (if you can call it that) was that the concrete around the pool gets super hot in the afternoon sun, so wear water shoes or keep your flip flops nearby.

Given such high membership prices you would think they would have better trained people and a better membership recruit system. This gym was such a let down from all the hype I heard. While I've never been in a crossfit gym and I've never done it, I've been in a lot of other gyms. This one has a great setup if you're looking for something beyond a traditional gym. Not only do they have many of the functional fitness equipment you'd expect in this type of gym, but they have a good amount and variety of each type. I can be an equipment hog when I'm dialing in my weight for each movement. The people were also super friendly and helpful, and the gym is very clean and spacious. As much as I'm sure people sweat in that place, there wasn't any of the off-putting gym odor. The equipment was in really good shape too. If I had one wish list item that I didn't see there, it would be a sled, but most gyms don't have them anyway. If you're unsure if this is a place for you or if you're from out-of-town and just looking to drop in a couple of times, they have a great deal where you can buy one of their cool tees/tanks and get two visits included with it. I've been a member of CrossFit Lakeland since the beginning. Back about 3 years ago, I sent an…read moreemail to CFL asking if I could drop in and do a workout or two while I was home (I was in the military at the time). They were very kind and absolutely let me come in, hit a WOD, and didn't charge me a dime. Fast forward about a year later and I was now out of the Marine Corps and back in Lakeland, and beginning to be a full time member of CFL. Each and every day, the programming of the workouts were very well made to challenge your fitness, the competitive spirit in the gym helps drive you through even the hardest of workouts, and the community that has formed and blossomed into social events and brought new friendships is irreplaceable. The bottom line is that if you want to look and feel good, you are going to get that here. If you want to compete against others at this "sport of fitness" instead of wasting away for 30 minutes on a treadmill, you are going to get that here. If you want a supportive and active community of people reaching goals just like you want to reach, then you will also get that here.

Examples: -Last year I asked to move my class from one open class to another because my sister went into labor and they said they couldn't waive the $12 late cancel fee (due to company policy) -This morning I was :15 seconds over the time where you can be late to class and I was not let in (due to company policy) -That same sister who went into labor didn't feel like the workout was safe to do through her her pregnancy (due to drs orders) and tried to cancel and was charged for two months she couldn't use. She understood and asked if she could have her husband or father use those 2 months since again, her fitness level wasn't enough high enough to safely do HIIT while pregnant - they said no (due to company policy). They still call her every week to get her to rejoin. If you're looking for a great workout - it's hard to not to love OTF, but seriously weigh other options and read the Reddit before joining.

I met Christy and Larry and started training with them and loved every minute of it. They taught me so much about conditioning and training the right way. Even though I don't live in Florida anymore I have continued to workout but I really miss working out with them. I am so grateful for all they taught me. He takes the time to pay attention to each of his students. The class is a decent size and everyone is super friendly. I found the cost to be very reasonable compared to other workout options in the area. I appreciate that the first class is free to try out. Sometimes it does get a bit warm inside the gym. However they have huge fans and I mean it's a workout after all. The workouts are pretty intense. However it feels amazing when you've pushed through a class without completely giving up. I can already tell I'm improving only after a few lessons. You don't have to be crazy in shape to go here. The community is super supportive and will cheer you on as you work towards your fitness goals. I would highly recommend working out here.
