Recently joined and so far I am pleased with staff and available equipment. There are plenty of cardio machines as well as weights. I've only been on weekends and it hasn't been crowded. Everyone minds there own business and it is quiet. No grunting allowed lol! I have seen reviews about it being a gym for beginners and "normal " people. Personally I like the atmosphere and there aren't people walking around, being loud, and showing off. So if that is what a normal and beginners gym is all about then I am ok with it. My boyfriend liked the basketball courts at other gyms, but he enjoys going here. They don't have a family membership, but with the black card you can bring a guest. I hope down the road my review doesn't change. I have not met with the personal trainer, once and if I do I will update my review. read more

This is a Brand new gym and I have been a member for a week now. I really like the variety of machines and as a PF Black Card member I have unlimited use of the massage chair, hydro-massage table and tanning booths (don't think I'll need the tanning booths in this life). Currently, I am very satisfied, however 4 stars instead of 5 because the equipment, although easy to use is cheaply made and they are not 24/7, just monday thru friday and 7a-7p on Sat and Sun. This gym is the nastiest Planet Fitness I've gone to. This was my home gym but canceled my membership. I went to the gym to work out one day and found a female employee in the men's locker room recording men getting out the shower. I questioned her being there and she ignored me and continued recording. I informed management of the facility and was basically brushed off. Despite the uncleanliness of the gym, the last thing you'll want is a female worker trying to catch you with your wiener out. Go to a different PF. I noticed one being built on Summer Ave and should be opening soon. Oh yeah. There was one day I witnessed the staff cleaning the gym. There were about 5 to 6 team members on the gym floor with mop buckets and a lady manager walking around with a clipboard giving directions. I asked a team member why so many people were mopping and he informed me that the district manager was coming. read more

I did not like this Bartlett location. The attendant was too busy eating to even acknowledge me as a first time potential member. It wasn't the cleanest gym either. The manager seems more interested in pleasing her corporate office and making sure that she enforces their mandates than she is in customer service. She rudely approached members and interrupts a heavy workout to tell us to pull our mask up over our nose while the large clock on the wall has been broken for as long as I can remember. Now that the distancing rules only allow us to use "every other machine" she doesn't even move the equipment around so that the machines were permitted to use aren't the ones that are broken. For example, in a line of 5 Stairmasters, the one on the far left is broken but it is not one of the two blocked from use. So instead of 3 machines being available, only two are available. This is a consistent pattern through out the gym. It is filthy... in these times of Covid they expect the users of the tanning beds to clean them before and after tanning.....nobody does this. There are smudges all over the beds not to mention pubic hairs all in the bottom of the standup beds. Obviously these people have NEVER heard of a vacuum cleaner. Not only that the so called manager is rude and will not allow legally registered service animals in the facility which is breaking the law and I confirmed that with the Bartlett police department... I plan on also letting the federal government know as they keep a list of those law breakers and will go in undercover and when they don't allow that service dog in, then planet fitness will have fines and other legal problems. Overall the gym is basically a dump.... They never had the "fitness trainer" call me to set up an appt and that was over a year ago. The equipment is old and outdated and is NEVER wiped down so it is just a place to catch Covid. One girl at the front counter has her nose in a book all the time and acts put out if you need to ask a question... don't interrupt her reading, that's what she goes to work for apparently. There is actually one beautiful woman of color who is beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.... She has a also NOT a liar. She told the truth about the lies the manager was telling but I understandably she could not say too much as I'm sure her job would be in jeopardy if the manager overheard her confirming what the manager said to me (but she did do it all n front of about 5 people before I left. Their home office wouldn't even return my calls...:. All these people care about is money. There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE what so ever. Run away from these racist con artists. Any company who blatantly breaks the service animal laws and doesn't care is no body you should do business with. Or maybe the manager just can't read and the s too embarrassed to ask for help .... At any rate, they may want to get educated regarding these laws as I also notified the Memphis police department and they too will be checking in on other locations. But there are nicer clubs and they probably change their tanning bulbs more than once every few years. I just decided that rather than continue to allow that manager to BULLY me that I would cancel my membership and join palm beach tans and in three sessions I'm darker than I ever was in a year and a half at planet fitness (things that make you go "humm?") so all in all the $10 membership might be okay but don't fall for the up charge to the black card membership because they are just stealing your money.....ALSO I CAN NOT COUNT HOW MANY TIMES IVE GOTTEN UNDRESSED AND PUT MY EXPENSIVE TANNING LOTION ON, your only to discover that the desk clerk didn't turn the bed on..... who does that to people??? Planet Fitness has a great motto "The Judgement Free Zone". The whole mentality here is to promote fitness and not body building. The crowd that attends Planet Fitness tends to be more low key and down to earth. There are no muscle men grunting and slamming weights on the floor. The staff here is very friendly and quick to answer any questions you may have. There are also locker rooms with private stall showers and changing areas. The equipment does not have all the bells and whistles on it but is still high quality. The gym is open 24h Mon- Fri and 7 am- 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday. You have two options of membership here; the basic and the black card. The basic membership is $10 a month for one location. The black card will cost you $10 more a month plus you will have to sign a 1 year contract plus slightly higher maintenance fees. On the Black Card you get access to any planet fitness location, plus unlimited access to tanning and massage chairs. While it is great they offer these great amenities, the basic membership is all you really need and it doesn't tie you into a contract. This gym is one of the best values you can get for a gym. They offer the same things other gyms offer at a fraction of the price. read more

I've been coming to this gym off-and-on for a few years. It's a pretty good gym for $10 a month. There are things I wished this place had but, honestly, those things don't fit the business model and culture. Heck, pizza and tootsie rolls at a gym...a completely different approach to health and fitness and I get it. Not everyone is so serious about their health that they are offended by something unhealthy...I guess I'm one of them. I go mainly in the mornings so it's never crowded. This is a poorly run franchise and the owners have very little concern what happens in the gym. Conflicts can't be resolved because the manager says they can't do anything but yet the upper management is unavailable. There are different employees every time you go there. High turn over, rude staff and an overall feeling like none of the employees care to be there. read more

I've been a member here for a couple of years now. The location is good. The gym is usually not as crowded and allows space for working out. However the stretching area could stand to be bigger. To be a judgement free zone, they judge the moment a weight is dropped harder than their subjective ears care to hear. If it's judgment free, don't judge those who go harder than some. It could be motivation, not gymtimidation. Especially with L. A. Fitness now open less than a mile away. This is the original location in the city and still the best PF in memphis to me. With a couple of tweaks this gun could easily be a 5-star. A sauna would be an AMAZING addition. read more

Love this gym! I have been a PF member for years & have worked out at several of their locations. They have always been friendly, helpful, & greet you with a smile when you walk in the door, which us so nice. Their membership fees are super reasonable, & they have a great selection of workout equipment. Would totally recommend this gym, especially if you have a tight budget! read more

He needs an attitude adjustment and a lesson on professionalism. I also think it is absolutely outrageous that the club managers are not able to assist when their employees exhibit bad behavior. Plenty of equipment for the regular workout, and fitness instructors throughout day. The treadmills are a little too high tech too just jump on and go, but if you have a fitness goal to meet, the automated training programs should help you get right along your way. Also, massage chairs and hydromassage beds for special memberships. read more

I been a member at this location since 11/17. It was the most logical location that being it was closest to my father's house when I come to visit. I'll try to visit him often now that he had a minors heart attack. it was also a new facility and the most important part is that they advertise that they were 24 hours, which wasn't true at the time. But since then they have adjusted to three days out of the week 24 hours. In the two and a half years or more I saw various staff members come and go. For the most part the key members of the staff are still there may be one or two.. but as a whole the staff has been terrible. None of the staff I've ever seen working gear carry the least bit of professionalism dealing with a community gym, with the exception of a few. But for the most part nobody carry themselves to look and act anywhere close to resembling anybody who knows anything about running a fitness facility!!! In particular a Mr. Allen. After 20 years of military service I'm not fond of being forced to look like Richard Simmons just to come to work out for 2 hours. many times I come right after work or right before work.. but on my first encounter with him he made it obvious and clear that he felt more than comfortable to voice his opinion about my choice of gym wear and I just walked through the door I wasn't even dressed out yet. They seem to be Clearly they're overstaffed. It Is by no means necessary to be open 24 hours which they advertise and have five people standing around behind the register not training my cleaning when Prime hours gossiping and laughing at and making rude comments about people who are potential members and longstanding members in front of their face. It is clear that the hours are suited around their employees. Because they had more than enough people behind the counter standing around laughing about his comments towards me.. no one was cleaning or training. it's a gym after all. what are your employees going to do if they're not working out and cleaning and training?? But here they like to gossip out loud and stand around. More so denied me access to the facility based on a two year-old $30 late fee that I I wasn't even aware that I had until two weeks prior.. he made it a point to be loud enough almost as if it was a sign of public humiliation to let me know that they are running a business and there is no place for that and their facility and there's no way that he can possibly let me enter the building until I pay that. Not knowing that the staff manager and I already had a conversation it was already documented that they had the conversation and I was still allowed to pay the fee at my leisure being that I've been a member for the last 2 1/2 years . the location of small but clean. Memberships in a gym especially small gym are special and small groups people become familiar with each other. the effort and the sacrifice they put into their own life is an unseen SOP. that everybody in a gym motivates each other because we're all part of a belief system, a congregation. Believing in the same thing. But any kind of discouragment is very serious detrimental to the culture that's trying to be established within the walls of the facility. Especially one that hangs on the model of judgement free. Why is there not a "zero stars" option?? Just spoke with my sister who is a level headed, professional woman. She was treated terribly at this Planet Fitness. She was making changes to her membership which was taking longer than expected. "Sam" came up, stepped in front of the person helping her, and and erased her information from the computer so he could check other customers in. When she spoke up because she had already waited a while to get help, "Sam" said things like, "I wish she would shut up", "I'm tired of this woman's mouth and I want her to leave", "you're not my manager, you can't tell me what to do", etc. She asked to speak with a manager and was told there was no one to talk since it was after 6. I have yet to see such a poor example of customer service. I've been in the service industry for 30 years and learned early to say, "I'm so sorry!" A sincere apology goes a long way when a customer is upset. I am assuming this is not the way situations like this are usually handled because how would they continue to stay in business?? read more

I'll update this review if I join. Otherwise, this is based on a first impression visit. The staff was friendly and Josh did a great job showing me around. LOTS of treadmills and ellipticals here. The price is $5 cheaper than ATC for a month to month basic membership cancel anytime. The more valuable membership is $5 or $10 cheaper than ATC's but comes with more than just tanning and any club access. At Planet Fitness, they have hydro-massage and massage chairs that you get access to at will with the premium membership. In my view, these amenities alone are worth the price of admission. Like ATC, a negative is that they don't have a trainer available after 7:00. I don't get this. It seems to me that people who have money for memberships typically need jobs to pay for those memberships. But the hours of the trainers is more appropriate for people whose days are free - perhaps spouses??? Why would I want a membership where the trainer - which seems basic for a gym - is not available in the evenings after 7pm. I don't need intense but I like to develop a program, work it and have someone available to recommend adjustments for me. I'll likely join here just for the massage equipment. I just can't see myself being fully satisfied without periodic access to a trainer. read more
