understand that businesses have policies, but the way I was treated at this location was unnecessary and unprofessional. I was upfront about an old balance from a previous location that accrued after I had surgery and moved. I had already contacted the previous location and was told the balance had already gone to collections. After I signed up online for a new membership, the front desk employee went out of her way to pull up my old account, question me about it, and demand that I pay $240. Her tone felt rude and confrontational, and it honestly came across like a power trip rather than someone trying to help a customer. I asked to cancel the new membership because of how I was treated. This location lost a customer because of her attitude and lack of professionalism. read more

They have nice beds, but the staff always puts me in one that's literally just been used and is already very hot. My big issue are the hours. The weekend hours are unacceptable. When Planet Fitness first came on the scene their major draw was being open 24/7. This location is literally open from 7am-7pm on Saturday and Sunday. Looks like it's recently update, which is a wonderful perk for its members! Peloton type stationary bikes available, spacious bathroom/changing area, and so many machines. Trust me, you won't be waiting for a treadmill or elliptical, there's plenty for all! Even the soap smells amazing! Great value for the price but for the 3rd time this year they did not open in time and I ended up leaving.

I visit this location due to my regular location was closed due to different times that Planet Fitness has. After being vaguely greeted by a younger guy ( that seemed very unpleasant to approach) I started working out and the facility was decent. 15 minutes before closing. I received an important phone call that turned out to be a minor family emergency. That day was 20° outside. Due to that, and the obvious need for my quick response are decided to continue the phone call. I was notified by the young male that the facilities were close as the closing time catch up to me fairly quick. I still have belongings in the locker. Which I briefly told them I had an emergency phone call I that I needed to retrieve my belongings from the locker. as I'm doing so and the person that I'm in the middle of gathering my things. The staff decided to turn the lights off on me in the locker, which made it extremely dark and extremely difficult for me to see anything, luckily, by that time, I was finishing the conversation and I was able to use the flashlight of my phone. To be honest this was disgusting to me as they knew I was in a urgent phone call, it was only 5 to 10 minutes after the closing time and they offered no help, nor support as I couldn't even go outside due to the weather, weather, and the type of clothing that I had at the time. To top it all off , I was contacted by some manager a week or two later after the incident. Resuming the email. The manager basically said that they are strict with their closing times. Basically the manager backed up the worker. Which I can understand to a certain extent but I have to say that being left off in the dark while going through an emergency phone, call and trying to rush outside of the facility was one of the worst experience I've ever had in my entire life. I felt very hopeless, due to the unapproachable demeanor of the worker, I knew that that person did not care only but to close the store. I am never visiting this location again, do to the apathy from that worker and the lack of understanding of management, they both failed miserably. Note : I see that there are responses from planet fitness to some of the reviews before I wrote this one. It is all a fasad! This is not the way they act on private emails or over the phone. Just close for a week or two while renovations are going on. This place looks like a warzone. Locker rooms have been closed going on several weeks, only have porta potties outside. I try to avoid this one when possible, even though it's closest to me. read more

I initially signed up at this club back in 2015, and I got as much use out of the card as I could. For $20/month plus tax, it's really not that bad of a deal for all the perks you get. I thought this was the best thing ever, until I discovered nearly every time during the day (except for early morning) was peak time. In order for me to continue to go, I had to go at 5:30A every morning. I went during peak time once and I would never do it again. I went during peak time back in 2016, and the gym was packed to where every machine was being used, all dumbbells were being used, and all you could do was sit and hope something opened up. A guy got off one of the machines, and he picked up his jug of water and walked away. I thought he was done so I went on the machine he came off of, and instantly he yanked me off and threw me up against a wall, screaming "I'M NOT DONE!" and continued to harass me for several minutes about it. We got in a shouting match about it and PF staff came over and kicked me out, saying I had instigated it all, and he was allowed to stay. I called corporate to submit a complaint about this club and they had not gotten back to me yet to this day. This was 2 years ago, where this review wouldn't even be good enough for a single star because the staff was that bad. It seems like they've got a better staff running this place with a manager that actually cares, and it's a very clean facility. The billing is still pretty wonky and not necessarily the greatest, and I still have no clue what determines your annual fee date. All in all, it's a gym. It's got what you need to get into shape, and then some. Just don't rely on corporate to help you out with anything, they're extremely useless. read more

I cancelled my PF membership MONTHS ago and the woman at the front desk did not turn my signed form in so I have been getting charged since. When I called to speak with the manager he was unprofessionally rude and called me a liar. He would not process my refund. I had to call my bank and block planet fitness. My bank informed me there have been a lot of unknown transactions with PF customers and that they are not processing their customers refunds. I will never utilize this gym service again. Construction on the entire locker rooms and black card restricted access areas with No heads up at all. Also they had no water fountains, I asked if they had a water fountain in the back I could use as I get very dehydrated when I'm about 40 minutes into my workout, the guy told me they had water for sale and ignored my question like I didn't know they had water for sale? I live in America I don't pay for water at the gym I'll never be back to this location, there's 3 of them within 10 miles of this location (why not just close down for a week or two to Renovate it since there is plenty around) but no kept it open with NO warning whatsoever they were under construction. read more

So I actually signed back up to planet fitness after we opened up after the pandemic because I though, I have belonged to very gym around and which gym do I remember being the cleanest and most responsible and planet fitness was the first one to come to mind. That being said I have been very pleased with all the locations except the Brookpark location for many reasons but today was a bit much for me. A homeless guy was sleeping in the locker room and after telling both desk attendants they said they were aware and that it's fine. Had it been 10degrees out I would have been more sympathetic but it's over 50 today and this isn't a shelter. Getting a hold of corporate is impossible with these gyms which is also annoying. read more

First time member. Signed up for the Black card membership. I couldn't WAIT to use the massage chairs. I'm soo disappointed! If you're not the right height, it's very uncomfortable. As far as I know, the chair doesn't adjust, so by the time I got my legs into the bottom part I couldn't even feel it on my back. Tough luck for me, that I have short legs. I will never use those again. As for the hydro~bed, that made up for the chairs! Loved the water massage! Otherwise I'm pretty pleased. Amazing ceiling fans! Clean locker room, very nice. Open Monday at 5am and they stay open all week until 7pm on Friday. So it's 24 hours during the week. 7-7 sat and sun. The gym is huge and never crazy busy, They have tanning beds and booths. Also has massage chairs and massage bed. This gym also has a no lunk (meathead) policy. No grunting or slamming weights with dudes on roids walking around in work boots toting gallon jugs of water while wearing bandanas. Solid gym and they call themselves "The judgement free gym". Big fan of this gym. read more

I've never been an avid gym go-er, but dammit I've tried! Of all the gyms I've attempted to make a habit of, this is the one that could have made me a gym junkie. If only I wasn't so good at TV/movie watching. Oh well, we all have our talents! Planet Fitness is the only place I've seen an Arc machine. It's a cross between a stair stepper and an elliptical that gives a serious burn. Twice the calorie melting as a regular elliptical and easy on the joints if you have bad knees. I was also a huge fan of the price. Basic package is $10 a month with no contract, which is awesome for gym quitters like me. This gym is clean and has very nice locker rooms. I'm also a big fan of the circuit training for when you want to get in and get out without getting in the way or waiting a long time for machines. Give it a try, you won't regret it! read more

I've been a member here for about 4 months. A big part of my motivation for joining was that I could cancel my tanning (20/month) and be a member here, also 20/month, with free tanning. Basically it's a free gym membership if you already pay to tan somewhere else. The problem with tanning here is that there is almost always a wait. Sometimes it's only 5 minutes, sometimes it's 25. The rooms are boiling hot at peak times because the beds are running constantly. They have a contest where you can win a new ipod if you have the planetfitness bumper sticker on your car. They go out in the lot once per month and give an ipod to one random member with the sticker. Or so they say. Last month I happened to be standing in front of the picture of the winner when she walked in with one of the guys who works there. Could be a coincidence, could be the employees are just giving ipods to their friends. Either way, I'm not going to waste my time putting the sticker on my car. The equipment and gym itself are good. I agree that I would rather have towels than a massage chair. They should put washers and dryers in that room and have towel service. read more

I am very pleased with the equipment and the price. Tanning is just an added bonus in the Black Card feature for 19.99 month. I love that i can take guests, too. Plenty of cardio machines. However, I don't like having to stop my 30 minute circuit training to wait for someone who is not properly using the program. There are many other machines around that you don't have to interfere with my training. I have mentioned it to a few people and they have been apologetic. But one or two have been rude about it. I went to employee (I hate to be a rat, but if you can't read and follow rules, tough) who immediately took care of the situation and showed the customer to a comparable machine outside the circuit area. It's simple, people...just follow the numbers and the green and red lights. Lunk alarm is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. read more

Been going to this gym here for a year, and I guess it's alright. Staff is friendly, even had a guy that used to work there that knew my member number by heart and waved me through every time. Dumbbells only go up to 75 lb. No preacher bench or real decline bench. No barbells (wtf?) unless you count the smith machines (I don't). These things aside, I make do with what they have. I've topped out with the dumbbells for some workouts, but I don't plan on going heavier anyway. They keep the place clean for the most part, and I can count the number of smelly people I've encountered on one hand, so that's a good thing. Oh and the lunk alarm and "judgement-free zone" do little to deter the "lunks" and the judging, honestly. Meatheads everywhere during peak times, and come on, everyone judges. read more

As Sarah, my problem came after I left Planet Fitness I told them to cancel my service. I was unemployed could no longer afford it. When I left I thought it was over. They continued to bill my card.The account that they were billing was closed so I never knew. Then I get a letter saying I owe 110 dollars. So generally I've had a happy experience at this gym. But there's a female staff member that works after the morning that uses the lunk alarm excessively. I've worked at gyms and trained people how not to slam. At one point she pressed the alarm and I saw the collective group look around not sure who it was but also laugh because it was getting ridiculous. When the lunk alarm is louder and more annoying then what it's being pressed for I feel like that's a problem. I counted she pressed it 12 times in the course of an hour while I was there. All for people who I looked were not slamming their weights or being obnoxious. read more

You can't cancel your membership via phone or Internet because it's apparently still 1994 at Planet Fitness. These types of shady business practices should be illegal. I transferred my PF membership from an east side location upon moving. I have to say I was far from impressed. While this location offers the standard tanning, massage chairs, hydromassage bed, etc, there left a lot to be desired. My decision to cancel was for a few reasons- the pricing was great, especially with the black card, however- there's no facility wifi so if you don't have unlimited data for your workouts, you're out of luck. Also, 98% of the time there was a long wait for tanning and I ended up skipping it. I was also disappointed to see the updates like the water bottle filling station weren't standard. Overall, it's an average gym with a huge selection of equipment but always packed full in the evenings and didn't really go above and beyond or even match the bar from my east side location. read more

This isn't my gym. I go to LifeTime Fitness in Beachwood, but I was here one morning with a friend (I must say I like their guest policy that allowed me in: free unlimited guests for Black Members, one of which my friend is). I must say from all that I've heard and from what I was expecting - I'm must admit I was kinda impressed. There were a few pieces of equipment missing that I suppose the gym would say fits are absent to fit their mantra, but I was able to complete my chest workout 90%. The machines are actually name brand, and the same kind LifeTime Fitness has - they just happen to be purple. The place, including the showers, was clean and members actually seemed to follow the wipe the machine off after use rule. At least at the 6a-7a time period I would say the gym has achieved their zero judgement goal (not that I feel intimidated at my gym). Though maybe I did feel a bit unwelcome here with a sign on the wall making fun of people who drink out of gallon water jugs... Though I will add that if they are aiming to be just the basics I would swap out the massage chairs and tanning and add towels and soap in the showers: seems a bit more relevant. Working out before work and therefore having to deal with a wet towel in my gym bag all day 5 days a week would drive me crazy. All in all, I suppose if I had to change gyms. This one would be on the radar as a possibility compared with others I've visited in the local area.... read more

After trying many gyms, I joined planet fitness in brook park in June of 2012. At first I would go just to tan and sometimes workout. My fiancé and I both continuously go now. You feel welcome and ready to go when you walk in. Everyone is super friendly always greeting you when you walk in and leave. Their equipment is top of the line. And is always CLEAN and not broken. They are the first gym I've found that has the ARC trainer! It's my favorite cardio machine, and its hard to find in gyms around here! I do have the black card membership. I will agree that it is a pain to have to wait 25 minutes to tan because of girls going to the gym only for tanning.. But the wait is well worth it for the standup beds! You get great color and it seems like the bulbs are always fresh! I love PF! read more

Out of the few Planet Fitness gyms I have been too, Brook Park Planet Fitness is my favorite. I never have to wait long for a machine, spot to put a yoga mat down. Cardio machines are always available. I go at all different times during the day and night. Tanning beds are always clean. Locker room is always clean. Overall happy with this gym. I have only complaint, the gym is 24/5 Monday thru Friday. I wish 24 hours on the weekends. read more

So much nicer than the Elyria Planet Fitness. The machines here seem to be more updated and the place is set up very nicely. I went at noon and it wasn't busy at all. I had plenty of room to stretch. I like that the cup holder for the arc trainer is in front. The ones in Elyria have no nice place to put your water bottle. After coming to this location on and off for 4 years or so I have recently been going out of my way to get there. I am just a few mins from the river club and the way I'm greeted here make it worth the extra 30 mins. I spend all day keeping people positive and motivated and often times am exhausted when I arrive. When Summer and her smile meet you at the door the exhaustion disappears. read more

It's probably the biggest location I've ever been too, however it's also the dirtiest and has the rudest staff. When I first started going to this location in 2014 the staff was wonderful. I tore my meniscus and when I came back the entire staff was new and they always acted as if they were too good for anyone. One of the female shift managers made me wait at least 5 minutes for her to finish her phone conversation with a friend before she took my question that she told me to call instead because it was easier that way. Always have problems with people not wiping down machines, having to wait to use certain machines because it's always busy, and never being able to go tanning or get the massage chairs unless I wanted to wait in line for 40 minutes or so. I love everything about the gym except the employees. I never feel out of place among the other members...it truly is a "judge-free" gym. On the other hand, the staff has not been friendly or welcoming to myself, my daughter and guests that we have brought with us. They come across, to me, as conceited and uninterested in doing their job. Btw, the only interaction I ever had with them is checking in and purchasing a pair of tanning goggles...it's not like I'm trying to become best friends, have deep conversation or anything. read more

Horrible experience. They tell me that I couldn't shower because bathrooms were closed, there was no one cleaning at the moment and no sign showing there was any cleaning being done. When I told the employee in the front she said I would simply have to wait because the cleaning people have to leave and do other jobs. Having worked retail for 8 years I just can't believe how little the employee cared about the customer. Didn't ask if I could please wait just simply said I HAD TO wait. The gym was clean and had nice equipment, but it was always very crowded after work when I would go. I also did not know when my year long membership was up and when I inquired about it to cancel I had already missed the date and would be charge for the following month. I said that was ok, but the part that disgusted me was that I was charge $42.12 for membership dues because I had moved into the next year of my membership. I spoke with the corporate office first who said that Planet Fitness does not offer refunds and that I would have to take it up with my specific location. When I called my home location, I was told that a manager was not there and that they do not give any refunds. The person I spoke with then said that they really should send out notification letters to members, but they don't and that they get this all the time. Very poor customer service in my opinion and not a gym I will be recommending to anyone. read more

For years now I have been going to the Planet Fitness in Parma and Brookpark, for working out and tanning. This past month when I have been going there I contracted a highly contagious fungal infection of the skin also know as RINGWORM, from their tanning bed. I was very professional about the situation, emailed them waited for a call and voiced what happened to me. The manager of the one location passed the information onto the regional manager. When he called me he told me that there is no way I got it from them because they "clean everything" and they would not be doing anything about my situation because it was not his problem and I got it from somewhere else. He was very rude about the whole situation. I explained to him that the location of the rash and that there was no other place I would be exposed in that area. He continued to call me wrong. I am not one to complain about thing on Facebook like this, but this had to be known and addressed to all my friends. That place is not clean, and I am incredible upset/disgusted that I got RINGWORM from this place. THIS IS NOT OKAY. Mined you I had to pay over $70 for the ointment to treat it... read more

So I've been going to planet fitness Brook Park constantly for a year now and this one is the dirtiest. They don't clean. I say hey to they same dust bunnies every time I go. This is the first gym I've belonged to in a very long time. It's great for the price. I signed up when there was no sign up fee and now just pay $10 per month, month to month, and can cancel at any time. The staff is always very friendly. It's true the wole place as a non-judgemental feel and I completely appreciate that. As far as equipment - there are plenty of cardio machines, I've never had to wait for one.Tread mills, elliptical, arc machines, sitting bikes and recumbent bikes. I am not a huge weight lifter but they have everything I would ever need for all muscle groups. There 30 minute machine circles for all groups and abs. There's a separate area to do floor work and use dumbbells and medicine balls. They have free, unlimited, 30 minute personal trainer group (or individualized) personal trainer sessions for abs, arms, legs, back. I've only done the abs because my schedule hasn't allowed me to try all the other sessions, but the trainer is very nice and encouraging. I never feel out of place in this gym and always very comfortable. The locker room is always clean and well kept. I will be moving from Cleveland over the summer and plan to keep my membership and change home clubs. I hope the one in my new town is as good as this one! Totally worth the price and great way to keep a healthy lifestyle. read more
