Please do not join this gym. I joined Fitworks at Rocky River after moving to Lakewood, Ohio in July of 2022. Several months later I was diagnosed with cancer. I initially paused my membership. I was still charged membership fees. I was required to go into Fitness personally to get a refund on the charges during the pause. I then needed to cancel my membership on January 08, 2024 due to the cancer treatments that I was receiving. Attached is the documentation for the cancelation. On June 1, 2024, Dania from ABC Fitness called me claiming that I owed membership dues and she further claimed that my membership had not been canceled on January 08, 2024. She canceled my membership effective June 1, 2024. On July 29, 2024 I received a phone call from a collection agency, FCSBPO, when I asked you was calling they hung up. FCSBPO called again on July 30, 2024. I initially spoke with Jackson Pereira and then spoke with his manager, Anand later. I called ABC Fitness and spoke with Cheri. She claims that I owe dues as follows: March 1, 2024 $19.49 March Fees $9.50 April 1, 2024 $43.15 April Fees $9.50 Total: $81.64 I claim that I do not owe dues for dates after I canceled the membership. read more

I've been a member since 2013. I used to really enjoy going here. It was decently priced and close to home. After moving to a "larger" location 5-6 years ago, they still have the outdated gym equipment from the old location. They have a VERY small amount of new equipment. Since reopening after the Covid shutdowns, it has only gone downhill. The gym is dirtier than it was prior to Covid. The employees seem to rely on the members to clean up after themselves. It is very common that cleaning supplies are not filled while employees are sitting on their cell phones. Their efforts seem to be half-assed and management doesn't seem to put any pride into their gym. You can clearly tell that new management is only worried about turning a profit. Always trying to grow their membership numbers and cutting corners with general maintenance/up-keep (while charging you an annual maintenance fee). I have recently canceled my membership due to poorly maintained weight machine malfunctioned and injured me. I suggest spending your hard earned money at a different establishment. read more

After not being a member since 2022 I get notification in 2024, my membership was sent to collections... EVEN THOUGH I cancelled my membership in person with a kid working the front desk (another reason to not hire high schoolers). When calling to get this fixed they told me they are under "new management" and don't have the information from that far back, basically saying good luck we can't help you and we won't. Btw no gym etiquette there, just a bunch of meat head, tough guy, juicers slamming down there 45 lb dumbbells and grunting to lift 135 bench. Dirty locker rooms, and "no chalk rule" is not enforced worth anything. Do better new management. I'll tell everyone I know to stay away from this gym. Although most gyms are accepting of all levels of a person's fitness progress, this Fitworks branch brings it to another level. First, I am greeted with a smile when I enter and a good bye when I leave. Next, the gym is clean and the supplies are regularly filled. The staff is available to explain any machine you are offered a free training session. Most importantly, the actual gym users themselves are courteous and respectful of other lifters. Now I am sure there are a few idiots that stop by, but I haven't had the displeasure of running into them. So, if you are just starting out lifting, getting back in shape, or just want to keep in shape, this is the place to be. read more

Will not be renewing my membership. My membership had expired and I was unaware. An African American woman who worked the desk on Monday 2/25 followed me into the locker room and scolded me for being at the gym without a membership. I was surprised and ready to ask where I could renew until I saw her roll her eyes and walk away. When she walked away I heard her mutter (loudly so I could hear) "jesus". I have been treated poorly from the staff here before. I don't know who they think they are getting off on judging people's financial situations but I was just there to work out. This gym is awful. Everything inside is either ripping or broken. Ive never been to such a bad gym before. The weight area set up is just awful. Only good thing here is cardio area & there is some cool turf outside and the locker rooms are clean - but that's not what I go to the gym for . Will never be back here. read more

I worked out once here as a prospective member. I liked this gym and would have joined if there had been towels provided. The equipment selection actually exceeded my expectations. While I would say the gym was busy when I went, the space absorbed the people well and there was only need to jump in on someone else's set once. There were multiple pieces of the same equipment to limit wait time and a good selection of machine options. There was one particular machine which I felt was a bit outdated in design, but overall the place has new equipment from cable machines to plate loaded to ez-curl bars to selectorized machines. The facility and locker rooms and showers were clean. There was also a cardio movie theater and plenty of cardio equipment outside the theater as well. read more

What is the point of posting a class schedule online if it doesn't actually show what classes are going on at the gym? I understand adjustments happen, but from what I gather, this happens all the time and the online schedule can't be relied on at all. I showed up for a class yesterday that wasn't even happening. I grabbed the paper schedule from the front and noticed it was completely different from the one online. It's not as if we are in the first week of the month; it is mid May and the schedule has not been updated online. That's extremely annoying and inconvenient for members who rely on the online schedule. Take 30 seconds to update the online schedule or take it down all together. read more

Pretty large facility with all the stuff you would expect to see in a gym, plus a few more. Multiple rooms allow for group classes to participate in almost every day of the week. They also have a separate personal training area which is nice for one-on-one time with your PT. The locker rooms are clean and the showers are more satisfying than other gyms I've been to. Smoothie bar open also. One of the coolest things they have is what they call the "cardio cinema". It's literally a large dark room with ellipticals, treadmills, etc. that has a large screen showing a movie that they choose and post at the front entrance. Pretty good way to pass the time. I joined almost yr ago. At first, it was a pleasant experience. Couple months in, I noticed some things that made me wish I would of never pd in full. Hated spin , was never comfortable, finally got in a class with an instructor that made me really confident. Then she was gone, her position was limited. Classes got unorganized, times were never right. Unprofessional! Then I did a 42 challenge with the head trainer, Jermain! He lacked in communication. The program consist of apps and videos. I explained I cannot open them. He just blew it off. Lost money, trainer, and no weight lose. Unprofessional! Movie theater is great, if it ends you could be waiting awhile to get it to restart. I also was approached by a trainer, to take his boxing class. I was excited. Then I get there and they tell me I had to pay, which was never mentioned in the invitation to come to his class. Alittle sneaky! I was mainly upset, when I seen one of the trainers and how they treated his client. Its alot to get a trainer here. He basically told his client to do a number of machines come find him after, as he stood on his phone texting behind the desk.,as she looked like a deer in head lights, and went got her husband. I have been a member for over 8 years and I am changing to planet fitness. The majority of the staff and trainers are very unfriendly and cannot even crack a smile and say hello.....unless you are signed with a trainer or paying extra for classes!! Come on now I pay my monthly membership dues I believe and smile and hello from trainers and staff is not too much to ask for. The one girl as you check in always greets, samiles. And says. Hello.....after that forget it....especially the one Italian looking girl-trainer is very unfriendly!! Because of this poor customer service and not so friendly atmosphere I have changed to planet fitness And I am so happy that I did all the equipment is so much better and new and a larger ficility and at half the cost of fit works membership!!!! I recently switched gyms from the YMCA in Lakewood to FitWorks Rocky River. While I liked the classes at the Y more, I love how much bigger FitWorks is, the better hours, and best of all the Cardio Theater! For someone who is not the most confident when exercising, I love the darkness and privacy of the cardio theater. Not to mention that on a huge screen, you can watch the movie of the day and get lost in it instead of focusing on how much longer you have to run! The staff has always been super friendly every time I go. There is always someone greeting me when I walk in and saying goodbye when I leave. I never feel judged here and it is a very comfortable place to work out! I took advantage of the free personal training session that I got when I signed up in order to feel more comfortable with the machines. Casey did a great job of explaining them and asking what I wanted to know and learn about the place. My only complaint would be that when I got busy student teaching for a couple weeks and slacked on my gym time, I received an email from them encouraging me to come work out more. I also received a text from a personal trainer offering me a session. While some people may like this, I felt a little embarrassed and like they were tracking how much I come. Although I have been better about staying on track lately, that did make me feel slightly uncomfortable. read more

I transferred my membership from the Stow location recently. Some of the equipment is old and outdated. Machines that are probably from the 80s. The amenities are nice but if you're looking for up-to-date equipment that is actually useable at a fair price, I would go elsewhere. My wife and I have been going for 5+ years and we feel it's a great value. The fact that the monthly fee includes basic classes such as spinning and yoga makes it worthwhile. Fitworks recently moved into a renovated, large, conveniently located building. That's great! However, their spinning bikes are ridiculously outdated. They also got rid of the women's only weights section. They updated the building, just none of the equipment. Very disappointing. read more
