While I would give PF 4 stars overall, I am worried about this location. The increasing amount of trash in the parking lot and the growing abundance of rain catchers and buckets due to a leaky roof do not instill faith. Super disappointed that we r in December and bulbs in the tanners have not been updated since months ago and even then they only updated bulbs in two tanning beds and it was months before that that they were updated. I pay a $28 membership fee every single month and within the last year, there has been a decent upgrade completed somewhat completed bulb change out once that I recall. definitely considering taking my business elsewhere. read more

The judgement free zone. The over-friendly staff. The lunk alarm. This gym is all about gimmicks. The $10/month was definitely a perk, but that's where the pleasantries ended. My boyfriend and I joined this gym because it was all we could afford, but we were happy to cancel our membership 2 months in. He's pretty serious about weightlifting, and was "warned" by staff members while lifting free weights that he was being too loud when putting them on the floor to rest between reps. Maybe the girl at the front desk has super sonic hearing, because I was standing right next to him and didn't notice a thing. The "lunk alarm" (no, it's not a joke, they really do sound that thing) was used a few times while we were there, which to me is much more aggravating than any noises I heard from guys lifting. Back in the day I lifted with my high school football team, so I completely understand what Planet Fitness is trying to avoid -- the excessive grunting, pumping up, etc. But to frequently interrupt people's workouts for a thud of weights dropping 3 inches? Give me a break. I was also told, while quietly talking on the phone standing immediately next to the drinking fountain on the wall, that I was only allowed to take calls in the lobby area -- which is literally 6 feet away. Apparently I was being so disruptive to the ZERO people around me that this girl felt the need to tap me on the shoulder mid-convo and inform me of this policy. My final complaint: I don't understand why the 30-min circuit area has different machines than the rest of the gym. Many times I had to wait for people to empty the circuit area so I could use one of the tricep machines that isn't available anywhere else in the gym. Also, my boyfriend was told we couldn't take any of the heavier free weights to the open area for lunges... gotta use those weights in a 10 foot radius of where they're racked, apparently. Y'know. Where there is no room to do lunges. I will say, for people who have never joined a gym before, they do go above and beyond to demonstrate how to use the circuits (twice while working out, I was used as said demonstration for people touring the gym). But if you know what you're doing and just want a nice place to work out, I'd spend a little more and go elsewhere. read more

I just moved up here and waas looking for a new gym. I noticed they didnt have a pool or anything but I really like this place. It is always really clean and has a ton of machines to use. I come usually in the mornings (9am) and have never had to wait for a machine. They do offer schedules at the front area of the busy times so you can avoid them which I thougght was really cool. The staff is really nice or at least the ones I have meet so far. I have not spent any time with the onsite trainer so I can comment on him. read more

I might be biased because when I lived in the Detroit metro area I loved LA Fitness and tried avoiding Planet Fitness like the plague. In a gym I look for a pool, classes (Zumba), tanning is a bonus, and of course the massage rooms are a bonus. This gym obviously has no pool or classes, however I do like the 30 minute express workout area when people aren't hopping in and out getting in your way. For some weird reason I get a feeling this corporation doesn't actually want you to get fit! I don't understand the junk food days, "A NO JUDGMENT ZONE" would not have a lunk alarm, and this place is usually busy. If there were more choices, with a reasonable price I'd go there. But.. I got a membership here so we'll see how it goes. I've been going 4/5 days a week and feel great, so it gets the job done. read more

This location is great. The staff is super friendly and the facility is always extremely clean from wall to wall and ceiling to floor. The equipment is in great shape as well. A lot of people think that Planet Fitness is just about gimmicks, but I don't find that to be true. I'm not a fan of an overbearing gym or a place that has a million things going on at once. They may not have a lot of classes or a pool, but it is perfectly tailored for what I want and need right now. Also I travel frequently for business and my black card membership gives me the ability to use gyms across the country which is a huge benefit for the price I pay. read more

This is greatest of all the planet fitnesses in the history of 24 hour gyms. It has the best staff to ever staff a business. Of all the Eric's only Eric Estranda is better than Eric at Planet Fitness Burton. Many hour has been spent using a myriad of different exercises equipment. The black card membership is the only way to go. read more

Great equipment and access to cleaning tools. Three stars are due to customer service. Colleague arrived today and staff member loudly proclaimed "Your last payment didn't go through!". Colleague had to go home and print out bank statement to prove the error. Not only was staff wrong about billing, he publicly shamed my colleague and didn't apologize. Both actions are inexcusable in 2021. Burton staff should be trained to interact professionally with customers. read more

This used to be one of my favorite gyms. I recently went back, after a hiatus dealing with loss, and the sign about males cleaning the female locker room is up all night, 2 nights in a row(2am and 12am). First bad thing. The 2nd night/morning (1am) I go to take a shower, and the locker room is empty. Then I come out of the shower (with a medium sized towel around me that I'm trying to hold up while holding my belongings I showered with) and the male worker is there and looks directly at me. Didn't even try to turn away or act like it was accidental. I am mortified and will never go back!! :-( Not to that one or the owner's other one in Grand Blanc. Then as I'm getting dressed I hear him out there sweet talking someone on his phone while cleaning. A horrible experience. I feel violated. Not ok. read more

The management at this place is ridiculous. I have a family membership to a single location with Life Time Fitness. I travel often so for $10 a month I snagged this membership so I can get my workouts in when I'm out of town. I visited this location while there visiting relatives and after my encounter with the ignorant crew and manager who work here. I immediately cancelled my membership back in Houston and was happy to tell them why. Hazel Wing!!!!!!!!! By the way. Love this location! The facilities are spacious and always sparkling clean. The staff is friendly, and always ready to help with anything you may need. The trainers are kind and knowledgeable. They show modifications during classes for those who are just starting. I never exercised, much less in a gym setting, before joining here and they have always made me feel comfortable. I like this branch, however, what I did not like about it was the employee I worked with when transferring to this branch. WhileI was transferring from the branch in Midland, MI to this one, the employee at this branch talked mad garbage about the midland branch because it is "privately owned" and no other reason. It's like come on man.. I don't care who owns it I get the same service at each branch.(and to be honest the one in midland is a lot nicer and cleaner) I do not go into McDonalds wondering who owns the place. My husband had $170.00 dollars stolen out of his locker today from there. So there's that. Management said there's nothing they can do. So yeah, don't bring anything valuable in there. Upset that he wasn't offered anything to try to rectify the situation, not one thing. Could have at least gave him something, like literally anything. The customer and their experience in a facility like that should be the number one priority of management. May I also add, the assistant manager told my husband that this was the 4th time this has/had happened this week. I signed up for the winter to keep my fitness on and this place was recommended to me by a friend who comes here as well. I couldn't pass up the $5 sign up fee or the $10 charge per month..way cheap! So when I signed up, the fella neglected to show me around or even how to use the machines (aside from the treadmill, elliptical, and bike that I only know how to use). Thanks guy for not even telling me what the membership even comes with. I'm sure he was assuming that my friend would show me around etc..I should just pay her the $10 a month instead. Oh, and my favorite is waiting for at least a 1/2 hour for the treadmill or elliptical, pointless!! I'll give it to the spring and then resume my running back outside where I know what's up. read more

I used to go to the gym in the Burton Michigan up until last year. I went in to cancel, and they told me they were having "computer issues". This was last December. They said that if I give them my account number and name, that they could cancel it, and that he would "take care of it". I checked my account for a few months and never noticed any charges. Then late this September, I noticed charges starting again, and apparently they were actaully charging me this whole time. Every time I go into the store, they just mess around with you, telling me to talk to someone else. After going in 5 times and calling 3 without ever getting anywhere, I finally got a hold of the club manager, who basically told me he can't do anything, because I did not get written proof of cancellation. OF COURSE THERE IS NO PROOF, BECAUSE THE GUY NEVER TOLD ME I HAD TO SIGN ANYTHING. ONE OF YOUR GUYS SCREWED UP AND NOW I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. I am sick of all the crap associated with the gym. All I want is some sort of severance, especially considering I had to drive out there mutiple times just to be told "we will call you" or "We will contact you". Guess who never called? Also the lunk alarm is a joke. God forbid I try to max out once and let out a small grunt. You say its a judgment free zone, yet the second the alarm goes off, everyone stares at you AND JUDGES YOU. And seriously, free pizza mondays? Its a GYM, and its a gym that doesn't seem to give 2 shits about the customers or anything. Everyone working in the store just messes with you so you will leave them alone, and hope I don't come back. Fair Gym, For Cheap Price. It may seem Cheap, but they will get their money eventually. Gym is usually packed, a lot of people standing around. Not a Gym for people who want true results from a Gym. They Double Charged me one month, causing an Overdraft on my account (Credit union took care of that), and refused to give me an explanation why, or Refund the overcharge, saying it was in the fine print of the contract. So, I Canceled the membership. That should have been the end of it... Nope, I was wrong! Not 2 weeks later they charged my card again, for an odd amount, not even the monthly rate and no where near the date it would have been charged, if i were still a member. Upon inquiring with the Club, they admitted that the Charge was accidental. So, Just reverse the charge I thought would be the logical resolve... Again, I was wrong. The have to submit a refund request form, and wait for it to process then they would issue me a check and mail it to me. No, unacceptable. So, who else can i talk to about it, the referred me to Email, yes Email, the regional Manager with my issue and then he could submit the forms. Can I talk to a Human, not outside the club. Third party Billing co? No Contact possible. So, I contacted my Credit Union, to dispute the Blatantly Fraudulent Charge, which they are taking care of much more promptly. All this Hassle, yeah, its only $5, but its about the Principle here, They will lure you in with a low rate, Take money when they want and not give it back without a hassle.
