The issues I bring up in this review I brought up in my cancellation notice, so this location should theoretically be aware of these concerns. The biggest problem at this Planet Fitness is that the staff exists to keep the equipment clean, and does not really enforce any of the gym's own quality of life rules that keep any gym a reasonable place to work out. There is a professionalism problem at this location. I nicknamed this location "Planet Cellphone", because it is the poster child for how smartphones have made the experience of working out much worse for people at the gym. Every gym has to deal with this problem, and there is no exception to it. The biggest issue at this gym is the unwillingness of its staff to enforce rules to keep phone conversations in the lobby or shut down anyone who has the temerity to use their phones to view videos or listen to music without headphones. Several times I asked staff to ask other gym goers to get off their phones while working out on machines next to me. Only twice did staff actually do it, while the other four or five times they thanked me for bringing it up and did nothing. To make matters worse, one of the two times staff did intervene, they had walked by, twice, a person talking on their phone on the treadmill *in front of the sign that says no phone conversations except in the lobby*. When I pointed this out to them, they got annoyed and argued briefly before getting the person to end their conversation. As a result of the staff's apathy towards cell phone conversations in the gym and resistance to enforcing rules, it is not uncommon for as many as half a dozen people to be on their phones while you're working out around them gym. Sometimes these conversations are being had on speakerphone, which is unreal because these annoying conversations are from everything to discussions of how to access their home WiFi (including speaking out loud their passwords) to results of medical tests for sexually transmitted diseases. I worked out next to this girl who called her boyfriend while on one of the Smith machines, and she had a conference call out loud with someone else. In the aerobics room to the side of the gym, a lady who seemed to be a psychologist was having an appointment there, in the gym, for everyone to hear. In the aerobics room, people will put their speakerphones on full blast and play workout videos without headphones, so you have to hear them blowing out their cellphone speakers while they play something off YouTube. And this apathy from staff then extends to texting on machines, which is big trouble with machines when there's only one type of it in the gym. It's not uncommon for someone to text between sets, only to take like 10 minutes between reps because they lose track of time on the machine. This is a noted problem in all gyms, and it's not uncommon for 24 Hour Fitness, YMCA, LA Fitness, and other chains to put up signs on commonly used machines to warn gym goers not to sit on the machines and text as if they were furniture between sets, and to let others get sets in while they cool down from their own. All these problems stem from staff and management. They should be enforcing their own established gym rules and create larger signs and notices governing cellphone use in the gym. It's an obvious quality of life problem everywhere, but where this Planet Fitness is unique is that their staff does nothing about it and will ignore or even argue with a gym goer who asks them to enforce their own rules. You can see these problems start with the staff at the front desk. I don't know how many times I've seen staff with their backs to the gym, facing away while on their cellphones. It's so unprofessional. They turn around when someone comes in, they check them in, say hi, and then turn around right back to their cellphones. I did not see a single personal trainer in the gym the whole 15 months or so I was there, so I don't know if the staff is bored or simply does not care (I don't know what they make, so this would become an issue if they are paid too little). They're all mostly nice, and a few are even helpful - shout out to Austin and Spencer. But there's clearly a culture of apathy towards the running of the gym with staff and management, which in my experience starts at ownership. I changed gyms in March and the difference is stark. I was going to keep going to Planet Fitness because of the cost, but once my insurance was no longer paying for it, I found that I was not able to justify putting up with the issues I detailed above. At my new gym, the staff is so much more responsive to basic problems and while there's always going to be an issue with people treating the gym like their living room, I don't have to hesitate to bring it up with the staff. I also have a sauna now, which was the other major motivation for paying more for my gym. I don't hold this against Planet Fitness at their price point, though. read more

So I am use to going to a newer location but was in the area and stopped by here. The layout was odd due the building they were in but I kind of liked it. The machines I used I felt a bit more comfortable using them here. There were some machines though that they didnt have the exact same as other locations but the employee told me where they were and how it was the same just a different look. (bar instead of a pull down rope)... as I was looking for the rope. I have the black card so signed up for the massage chair. I was handed 2 coins as I was very confused but I had to put them in the machine and the massage would start. The chairs do need to be updated as you heard all the movements. So it wasnt 100% relaxing but it did get to the spots that I needed. This will be a location that I would choose to stop by again when in the area. And it was very clean. read more

I have been going to this location for a few years While the night person is courteous and helpful, the gym is dark and dingy. Today was the worst, all the trash cans were filled to the brim as if not emptied for several days. I inquired and was told there have been no trash bags for 2 weeks. The gym is clean, there are plenty of fans to keep cool, and the staff is friendly. With that said, I returned after a long absence, (health issues, surgeries, physical therapy/recovery), only to find the same issues that made me cancel my membership before. There is a posted sign at the entrance of the circuit training area, stating it is for circuit training only and the rule will be enforced. There are also multiple signs throughout the gym stating that everyone must wipe down equipment after each use. Cleaning supplies are located throughout the gym for easy access. Didn't happen. Someone walked in, used several machines in haphazard order multiple times and didn't wipe them down until he had completed his sets. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I had to keep adjusting and adapting my workout to accommodate this person. It defeats the purpose of circuit training which is to go from station to station without interruption. On top of that, this person gave ME the stink eye because I interrupted HIS workout. He then left to resume his workout in another area. Unbelievable :) Will have to address this, either by contacting the front desk or confronting the gym member directly. Not appealing options, nor conducive to a relaxing workout. Would like to see the staff be more attentive which should be easy as the front desk is located across from circuit training. In a perfect world, grownups shouldn't have to be monitored. read more

I wanted to come back to update my review things things have significantly improved. It looks like the staff that was busy being distracted on their phones has been let go or quit. Everyone I have encountered the last few times I have been here has been really easy to deal with and accommodating to customers. For the most part everything has been clean, with the exception of the actual customers creating a mess through no fault of staff. But I really can't complain because I have been trying to come here a few times a month and alternate between here and my home location and it's gotten MUCH better! read more

The gym seems neglected. Several of the treadmills don't work with signs on them for a month or longer and pieces missing from them (cup holders) and chunks of padding missing out of some the weight equipment. It wasn't like this a few years ago, so to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. They have signs on the windows that say 24/7 FIVE. The gym is only open 24 hours four days a week-Monday - Thursday. maybe they changed it and never removed the signs or updated them, but needless to say that is false advertising. Poor customer service. I'm a black card holder from another location. Called to confirm I could visit their gym and also bring a guest. Yes, they said! No problem! When we arrived we were first told we couldn't due to my membership being purchased through payroll service. Then they changed their answer to its a franchise issue. Ask if we could still work out? Yes, but if hand to pay a $5 franchise fee and my guest could only come if I registered her on the app. No thank you. They also lost my guest's business because she was going to join! read more

I've been going to Planet Fitness for years now. It was never really a big choice for me deciding between places like LA Fitness and Planet Fitness - Planet Fitness is $10.00. For me, with such a busy schedule, I like knowing that if I can't make it it's only $10 down the drain and not $50. I used to go to the Planet Fitness in Oviedo, but recently moved so I switched to the Casselberry one. It's so much nicer and a much bigger facility than Oviedo. There are a TON of cardio machines, I never have trouble finding a machine - even on Monday after everyone feels fat from drinking/eating all weekend. There is a 30-circuit area too. I never used it but I've been to places like Curves, and it seems to have a similar set up. Cleanly, great staff, large facility - I'm a fan! read more

Joined gym in February and went in hospital for 1 month without using gym. When I returned I was told I owed month of February and annual dues. I paid both and next day when I came to use gym I was told by manager the money hadn't cleared bank yet so I had to pay again. I then called my bank and had them verify money had cleared my bank. Then manager blamed my bank for Planet fitness billing not receiving money yet. Money is out of my account and not my problem planet fitness can't find it. this is a day care for Alzheimer or dementia patients who like to sit on the machine while they enjoy a good book . The staff right out of high school on their phones if you need anything go somewhere else. No safety protocols I saw because no one was working out hard enough to get injured, you may get hurt if you fall in the shower but no one will know or care. read more

Awful awful awful experience at this location. Do not sign up at this location as your home location. I've been a PF member at at least 3 other locations and have had zero issues. I requested to cancel my membership during quarantine and was told I needed to come in person..... in the middle of a global pandemic??!! Besides the fact I was able to sign up for my membership online but I can't cancel without coming in??!! Then I was told cancel in writing - I emailed my cancellation in April 2021. I just noticed I'm still being charged my membership fees 6 months later!!! So, I send a certified letter to cancel including a printed copy of the emailed cancellation the Manager Josh has the audacity to call me as a "courtesy" to tell me they're not refunding the dues I was charged in error after I canceled in writing. He said he can see notes about how I've spoken to him, his assistant and other teammates regarding cancellation. So..... you have proof via your own documentation that I've tried to cancel several times yet you continued to charge my account and will not issue a refund. Far better choices and after crunch opened it was apparent how bad this location is compared to others and crunch. One day I signed in and someone said I had a balance from a year ago. Truer to cancel and they said I'd be charged an annual fee even tho it hasn't even been 10 months that they were open because of covid. Very friendly staff. It is always a plus. Relaxed atmosphere and love the hours of operation. Equipment is very general to what you will find in major gyms. Even the way gym is divided into sections , reminds me of YouFit and Lafitness. However, they do not provide classes like yoga, Zumba, or step... so if you are into that you will need another gym. Planet fitness in texas didn't have showers nor change rooms so I am glad this one does. they do have vip (black card) option which offers you a body massage and tanning. read more

This place is great for the spongy shmuck like myself who just wants to get a little exercise without feeling bad about myself. Not too heavy on the meatheads in here, starin at you, judging you, laughing at you under their breath cause bro- do you even lift? Nope, just good ol smelly sticky sweaty equipment that mostly works kind of, that god only knows who used it last with simple enough instructions for even an idiot like ME to be able to use. Their machines have Ikea-like instructions on them for use, making them pretty much fool proof... just. like. Ikea. Right? My car was only broken into once so far. Not bad for Casselberry! Also- I love what those fluorescent blue/green lights do for my complexion. read more

As a previous Lifestyle Family Fitness member, I have yet to regret my decision to switch to Planet Fitness. There are times you'd want to avoid, but I usually go during my lunch breaks and have had no problem getting onto certain machines. However, sometimes I'm forced to go to the gym right after work at 5pm (EEK!) but usually I can still get on most of the machines without a wait. I do miss the classes offered at other pricey gyms, but if you're motivated enough classes aren't necessary. Oh and their motto about judging is completely correct. I've seen all walks of life come in and work out and the trainers are more than happy to assist. There's no shame in this gym's game! read more

This is my favorite location in the Orlando area. The gym is rarely crowded, has a lot of changing and locker space, plenty of benches, and a nice separation of cardio and weights. The price is low, and the gym is basic. No pool. The thing they say about "no lunks" is pretty true, to the tune of about 80% of the time. People here are much friendlier and don't appear judgmental of strangers. It's all pretty hands-off, which I like in a gym. One note on enrollment - they do require your bank account number, which rubbed me the wrong way, but as of now (I recently canceled and moved to LA Fitness, not a decision I'm thrilled with), I haven't gotten any mysterious cancellation charges. I remember being told you have to be on a year to avoid cancellation charges. A common game I try to play is to leave without a staff member saying "have a good one!" The hydro beds are why I go there. People are usually friendly but today an employee went around spraying febreeze through the air everywhere. It was disgusting. I have been with this Planet Fitness for over a year - I have learned the trends of the area and personally I really like the people who work here (or do they constantly put vaseline on their teeth to always smile?). Pros - $10/month, a lot of cardio equipment (I like hiding/using the equipment by the free weight since its a nice little corner), good flow of equipment, a lot of parking capacity, its very clean - the staff are constantly cleaning the equipment (which makes me feel better since I get so grossed out after watching people NOT wipe down after their sweaty selves) Cons - the 5pm rush (except on Fri/Sat/Sun). I avoid this place at that time since people rush to find parking and hog the equipment for an hour, but there's always something available. Again, I really like this location. The people that also come here are very considerate and I've actually had a fellow runner offer some advice a few times because he saw me looking at my 5k training for the day (although that could be creepy for some, he offered and I accepted). For what it is (just equipment), its nicely priced and a very welcoming & judgement free location. read more

5 stars! I've been a Planet Fitness black card member for a few years now. I can say for sure that not all PF gyms are the same. This location recently renovated and has 2 hydro beds! Such a terrible experience at this Planet Fitness in Casselberry. I joined this gym after leaving another because I thought such a large Corp. would be super considerate of social distancing guidelines, sanitizing and adherence to masks. I noticed that many people were walking through common areas without a masks in the sight of employees and when I asked they said that asking people to put their mask on was too aggressive and they didn't plan on doing that. At one point, one of the trainers even had his mask pulled down while working with someone. I really attempted to give the gym the benefit of the doubt and intended to remain quiet and try and distance myself should anyone come near, but today the assistant manager, Lauren, bypassed someone walking through that didn't have a mask on to condescendingly ask me if I knew the rules of the gym. I asked her to explain and she told me that no gym bags were allowed on the floor and that I could lock it away or not workout. I showed her how that particular machine had no hook and how my bag was shoved under the machine so it was not an obstruction and she said, well, yeah but there are no bags on the floor. I'm a rule follower when given the necessary tools but her tone combined with her unwillingness to explain her lack of adherence to mask importance encouraged me to quit the gym right then. While I am one $10 membership, my husband as well as my daughter are both black card members and will be resigning as well. Sometimes I pays to be kind and respectful and as an employee of a business that has been generally hit hard, it's even more critical. read more

I love coming to this PF for several reasons - I can come and work out seriously just like everyone else - No judging going on here - Staff is friendly But the BIGGEST reason is that it's like an indoor playground for adults!! There are so many cardio options, weight machine options, free weight options, floor space, circuit training sections, and an ab area to get working on that 6 pack. (Or 8 or 12 if you're beast) I generally go during high workout times but I it's not too busy on the machines I like using...or at least if I have to wait, I'll workout nearby and do the passive stalking trick...where I casually watch for the machine to open and pounce when I get the chance. :) Works like a charm. It's the one place where I can work like a beast to stay a beauty and not spend a fortune doing it :) read more

So my wife and I walked in to this location between 6:30 and 6:45 to sign up for a black card and the young lady at the counter was completely useless. She explained she didn't have access to sign us up because it wasn't her location.... okay. She explained her co worker was around cleaning. At no point did she provided any further help. She didn't call him, didn't look for him to swap places to get us signed up. Nothing. Literally nothing. We walked ourselves around. We asked for a day pass where she wanted to charge us $10 each.... where I can get one for free online. We asked if someone who was going to be able to sign us up would be there tomorrow. I was at my Monday 5 AM workout and while on the treadmill I noticed that 25% of the TV's were not working for about the last 3 weeks. I Wrote a note to the Manager about non functioning TV's. I decided to tape it to the monitor of one of the computers. At that instant the Trainer strolled in and he said "What are you doing behind the counter?" I said, "Oh, here you can give this note to the manager about the TV's not working for weeks now." Later the manager called me and said my membership of 8 years was terminated because I went behind the counter. I was taping a message to you about the TV's not working. She said, I watched the video and you looked at a computer. I said no, I was taping the message to the commuter. I said there is no sign saying to not go behind the counter, how was I supposed to know? She said you can file a complaint on line. Only a Nazi organization terminates someone for trying to communicate with the manager with a note. read more

I usually don't leave reviews ,but I felt like I needed to share my experience. I haven't been to the gym in a couple of weeks. I usually come at night, but I decided to visit in the afternoon. When I walked in, I was pulled aside by the assistant manger Lauren. She accused me of being disruptive, crying ,and being loud around others. She preceded to tell me that I wasn't allowed to workout at the gym anymore. In my defense, I told her she had me mixed up with someone else. She steps aside to talk to someone on the phone. And she comes back to tell me she got me mixed up with someone else. Then she preceded to ask me if I have a sister who looks just like me. Because there's another black girl who also come in the afternoon who looks similar to me. Mind you I come at night and don't visit during the day. i cancelled my membership a year ago, both me and my parents are still receiving bill statements claiming we owe them money. seriously....... i told my dad to block them from access to his credit card. i went up to this location i use to work out at, and was rudely told it wasnt their problem, and told me to call corporate. i should have known i was going to continue to get ripped off after they kept telling me i owed them hundreds of dollars for non payment back when i actually had a membership. your a $10/ a month gym, i shouldnt owe you $200-300 in missed payment unless i stopped paying for 2 flippin years. read more
