This is the 3rd planet fitness we have joined due to moves. East Granby and Vernon are great - clean - equipment working. The paper towel rolls are check regularly. We see people going around to check and cleaning. We will go to Enfield because of the price but not a great planet fitness. We like to hold a wall for some of our stretching but there are mirrors everywhere. Always broken equipment or lights on equipment not work. TVs so small you can't read captions and the head phone plugs usually don't work. Or maybe work for 2 channels and not this others. Only one decent abs machine. Could be cleaner. We will continue to go but not a fan. read more

Everyone is always really friendly at PF, and they offer a good deal for a gym membership. My husband and I pay for the black card which allows us to go to any gym together. I'm the perpetual guest. I do wish PF had barbell adjustable weights and some other frills for niche workouts. At the end of the day it's a place to get a decent workout at a good price. I travel and I needed to use a chain type of club. I researched for approximately 1 month and decided that PF was the club which I would consider as a good option. I read all of the reviews regarding this location in Enfield, CT and almost passed without going in person to check it out. I am glad that I did go in person because what I found was a FULLY equipped, fully staffed and exceptionally clean gym. DIRT cheap and clean, what more can you ask for? If you go off-peak you don't have a problem getting equipment you want either. It's not like the expensive places - no individual TVs in each cardio machine, but they do have several TVs all over. No group classes, although they do have free personal training, which is pretty awesome. (Update 5/2012 - they do offer group classes now, but spaces are limited) The staff is great - they say 'hi' but otherwise leave you alone unless you need something. My only minor complaint is they have a lot of special equipment meant for a circuit that no one ever seems to use and you're not supposed to use it other than that circuit. I go mostly for the cardio machines anyway. They don't accept credit cards for recurring payments anymore, just auto-withdrawls from your checking account. You do as instructed, but the manager denies all requests for refunds and sends an email stating you may be responsible for other fees. Horrible customer service. This is a good gym. Lots of new equipment and it's small. That being said, there are three changes I would love to see. 1) Trainers. I know they offer classes on weekday mornings, but I work early mornings and would love personal trainers at night or on weekends. I am new to fitness so having a trainer to get me up to speed would be great. 2) Some more space for lifting weights. 3) Freeweights / dumbells in the "back" room behind the tanning beds. The Enfield Planet Fitness is one of the best values around. For $99 per year you get access to a spacious, clean facility with great equipment and friendly staff. Planet Fitness doesn't offer classes, have a pool, squash courts, a fancy locker room or some of the other amenities you can find at other gyms costing much more. I know this sounds crazy, but I really love going to the gym! I have experienced all the gyms in Enfield, at this point, to try to find the one that I like the best, and that works best for my needs. I must say that while all the Enfield area gyms have their benefits and draw-backs, I have settled on Planet Fitness at my daily gym experience. The Enfield Planet Fitness is the largest planet fitness I have ever been to. It boasts several distinct workout areas including a cardio only room, and a "heavy lifting" area. It also has the usual treadmills, weight machines, free weights, and "30 minute circuit training" stations that most Planet Fitness's have. I was very impressed by the heavy lifting area- it is the first of its kind that I have seen at a Planet Fitness- it boasts much higher weights on machines than the standard machines- twice as much weight is available for those bigger and stronger individuals that cannot benefit from traditional machines. This doesn't apply to my scrawny arm muscles but it was nice to see! This location also has three "lay down" tanning beds, each with a separate room to change in, and a "massage" room which has two massage chairs and two hydro massage tables. The massage tables are SO nice- this is the first time I have had the opportunity to use one, and I definitely think it is a great option for Black Card members! They also have a pretty large wall of gym clothes, tanning supplies, etc. right on hand and two cold drink cases with water, energy drinks and protein shakes. The women's locker room area is spacious and always clean. Whenever I am there, there is plenty of staff on hand and one staff person is usually tidying up at all times. There is a mix of super nice and super aloof staff- it doesn't bother me, they are always polite and do their job. I'm not really going to the gym for the staff but I do know that some people who are looking for training guidance might have more to say about the particular folks that work at Enfield Planet Fitness. I've never had a problem. The thing I like best about this location is that there is a LOT of space. You don't have to feel like you're right on top of everyone who is working out. Everything is mostly new, and there is hardly ever a machine out of order for more than a day. Also, their TVs are mostly in working order as well, something I have noticed is a problem with some other locations. The only thing that I would like a little more of is area to stretch with mats to do ab exercises, etc. There's only a very small space allotted for that at this location. Overall, if you don't need much fitness guidance and you just want to be left alone to do your thing in a spacious and fairly quiet atmosphere (like I do), this is the best place I've found in town. My partner and I go 5 times a week and hardly ever have to wait for a machine we'd like to use. I'm pleased with Planet Fitness Enfield, and I plan on staying a client as long as I'm living in the area. read more

This is not one of the "best Planet Fitnesses" I have ever been to. Is there even such a thing as a "best Planet Fitness"? I'm a pretty hardcore gym rat. The hours and locations of planet fitness make it perfect for someone like me who travels a lot and works during the day. This particular planet fitness was outdated. It lacked the nicer equipment that others offer. The dumbbells only went up to 65(normally 75, which still sucks) and the locker room was small and dated. I have been coming here for about a month now and I have to say I couldn't be happier in choosing this as my gym. The best thing about this place is the price - for $20/month you get access to any Planet Fitness chain-wide, unlimited use of their massage chairs (which are amazing to use after working out), unlimited tanning (if that's your thing) and unlimited visits with your friends. The gym itself is modern, clean and has a "no attitude" policy that many people will find allows them to start working out without having to fear of anyone's judgement. To all do not go to planet fitness in Enfield, CT. After being closed to due this fake Covid-19 joke. What do the people do they open the gym and leave all fans off and the a/c off. And those us that have medical conditions that can't wear masks and require climate controlled conditions get short end of the stick. Due to no climate control I nearly passed out after ten minutes. And if gyms are not going to accommodate those of that are disabled then they shouldn't open up until such a time they can accommodate those of us the require climate controlled conditions. read more

I've only been going to this gym for a few weeks and it's not bad. The equipment looks newer and it's always very clean inside (including the locker room which is important). The gym isn't very big so if you prefer a smaller gym that's not very crowded this is a good place to start. I only wish there were classes offered and that they had personal trainers. However, the price is decent and it is conveniently located between work and home. read more

Equipment is new, of course I'd like a bit more variety but can't be too picky for 10/month. One thing that really irks me is the fact that every single window is open and all fans are on full blast causing a cold breeze throughout the gym making it very difficult to sweat, even with long sleeve shirts and sweatpants. PLEASE, close the windows. I've seen many people comment about the "arrogant" staff; majority of the time they stand around and text or hangout in the back massage room. However, they have no affect on my work out so it really isn't an issue to me. Keep the windows closed and I'll renew the membership :) read more

What a terrible policy regarding cancellation. I was told because I cancelled after the 10th of the month, I got charged another month's fee BUT my membership was no longer active. So basically I had to pay for an extra month but could not use the gym. What an absolute joke. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

This Planet Fitness has a super location: easy to get to from my Agawam, MA home. It seems as though there is always someone cleaning, even the manager: the floors, equipment, men's room. The weekend employees also spend a good amount of time making sure everything remains clean. You are greeted by someone when entering and leaving the gym and they will answer any questions that you may have. I have taken a class from their part-time on-site trainer and plan to take more in the near future. The trainer is willing to explain things, not only the proper way to use the machines, but also answer other weight resistance training questions. Even though I see familiar faces at the gym, everyone seems to let you do your own thing. I recently upgraded to the Black Card membership and just love using the hydromessage beds. Payment is convenien. Even my daughter, who pays big bucks in S.F. for a personal trainer, was impressed with the gym and my progress at the gym. read more

This gym has lost all of its barbells and the squat rack. I understand this is a PF, but cmon no 1 can advance with just machines. Fitness is such a broad term it doesn't have to mean "gladiator muscular or dad bod". But that's what this PF is trying to put across. There are some fitness objectives that require barbells, and a squat rack. Some people can't just do calorie restriction, cardio, and some machines. For the vast majority of Americans, they need those types of equipment to reach the fitness goals of a better lifestyle, and longevity. Notice I'm not discussing a body fat south of 10% and power lifting meets. I'm discussing all around fitness. Over weight people like myself have it hard enough, but to even take out the equipment that was helping us is just plain wrong. Generally speaking overweight individuals respond better to free weights than machines. I know "business is business" but somewhere in business there is something called customer service. The staff at this gym is top notch, but the owner should get a negative score for changing this PF to model a failed practice. Newer equipment, but the staff is not as friendly and judgement free as at other Planet Finesses. Some in fact seem to be the definition of lunks, which makes this PF kind of awkward for working out. The way this one is run also seems more uptight then the other ones I have been, which are more comfortable with a laid back environment. This gym is nice the equipment is all new and there are always cardio machines open. The only problem have with this gym and this can be very annoying when you are try to stay for a while, is that it gets way too hot in the gym. The doors are never open to allow air in and a lot of the time the fans aren't even going. In the spring and early summer the big garage doors are open and this period is very good. But in the winter it can be unbearably hot at times. read more
