Planet Fitness is my go to gym, because it's no frills and gets the job done. I've been going here for about 4 years now. I'm pretty private when it comes to working out. Just want to work up a good sweat and no talking. This Planet Fitness fits that bill for me. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. I see them cleaning all the time, but some of the people do not clean the machines when their through so I make sure to clean it before I get on any equipment and when I get off. I love that they're open 24hrs. It makes it convenient for my schedule. They have plenty of equipment to use (treadmill, eliptacals, bikes, weights, etc.) . They could use a update though! Nothing has changed since I started going there. They have free WiFi and plenty of TV's to watch. Massage chairs too! Even though I've never used the showers, I think it's great that they have them and changing rooms with plenty of lockers (you have to bring you own lock though). I also love the price, plus they are always running specials as incentives for new members. I guess I'm comfortable here so that's why I keep coming back. It's a win, win for me! read more

I did speak to the manager he was very accommodating. When I posed the question to the Planet Fitness help section. They stated I would be charged an extra $5.00. I would have most likely agreed to reluctantly and never posted a review. I just hate the way this was handled. To be refused entry at 6:00 AM when you just drove 40 mins and then the need to find a place to change for work was a major pain. So guess "Reciprocal Use of All Planet Fitness Locations" is 10 visits. How does that square with "Unlimited Guest Privileges at all PF Locations"? I hate deceptive marketing. read more

Denied my refund requests at every level. Even though I was uncomfortable coming into the gym for COVID safety reasons. Now reading through reviews it seems as if the little precautions they supposedly had weren't being taken seriously. I won't be coming back to this location and certainly wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. The least they could do is confirm that customers were comfortable being charged again upon re-opening. Car broke down and ended up in their parking lot. Had a long day and went in to ask if I could use the bathroom. They told me I couldn't use the bathroom because I didn't have a membership. Obviously it is their right to run their business how they see fit, but it's certainly "un-American" to deny someone such a basic need. I do not believe this is a habit we should affirm by giving this establishment our business. Your Flourtown PA Mgr has no manners -- Bridget. I called today after realizing, what I thought was fraud but wasn't. I moved money out my debit only to realize it was the Annual fee. I called today 18 days after the date of my annual renewal and was told that the annual was due Sept 1. I need to cancel to rejoin maybe by the summer. I said I would rejoin as it look like I will be travelling, , bc I am out of the country alot. I have been a member for years and never cancel even if I don't use it or use another workout type concurrently. I was told I need to come in person to cancel, or write a letter, and need to pay the o/s Balance. I explained that I would rather drop it , get the refund, and rejoin bc I know my schedule I may rejoin in the summer. Got Total Philly Attitude, "our policy, no you gotta pay what you owe".Kept giving me the stoic answer. I told her I won't be using it to join now and she told me it's my best interest to pay and freeze bc the memberhips have increased. No that is not good for me right now. I also don't want to come in. Im super busy. I explained this is not like I decided months or even 1 month after...It was 18 days after Sept 1 when I realized. Kept stating "our policy" and just attitude. There are always exceptions---and things can be fixed. Maybe she does a great behind the scenes job, but if I were the owner of the franchise location, this is not who you want to deal w people..new or old members. I wll add that all other employees I have dealt with over the years have been sweet and well-mannered. read more

Man oh man this place is a semi disaster. I have been going here for a solid year and have had more than a few issues with this place. First off, a public gym that has a low membership fee, you have to give it some slack. The people that go here are 50/50 some people are great and put their stuff away, clean, etc. Other members are just straight idiots. And that's to be expected. My issues pertain more towards the staff, quality of equipment and cleanliness. First off, people don't put their equipment away but staff don't re-rack weights often enough to fix this issue and it seems if the trainers run a class they don't put their equipment back in the proper place. So now I have to run around and find the gear I need to get through my workout. They tried fixing the floors, which took forever, and they patched the floors, so you have a mix of old and new flooring with bumps all over the gym. Shoddy work to say the least. Equipment is beat, treadmills missing stickers, weights with chunks missing, old style smith machines that have an outdated design rendering them useless for certain exercises. Finally the staff, a few staff members are nice and are friendly to talk too BUT the assistant manager Bridgett, woof, what a piece of work. Nasty individual. I have only spoken to her a few times but ran into issues with her a few times speaking nasty to myself and other gym goers. The one trainer I forget his name is a rude as well. During their construction they were having issues scanning customers in and he threw a fit trying to scan people waiting to get in, yelling out "You people need to take a picture of your pass so we can get the line moving". To which I replied you can take their phone numbers and help. He wasn't too pleased with that. I will update with the staffs names I like their who are great because they should be promoted, they are the only few that are good to see when I get to the gym. Oh also the next day after I wrote this review the wifi wasn't working. Wouldn't be surprised the assistant manager blocked my phone..... read more

Making you feel welcomed as soon as you walked into the Gym! They are always cleaning and I know for sure the women's bathroom are clean as could be !!! I've been thinking about switching gyms, and planet fitness is the top of the list on where I want to switch. I don't live in this area, but I came here as a guest with a friend from high school. They had plenty of open machines, lots of tvs, very clean. The best part? The price. I have to say this place is a winner. I'm writing this on the heels of cancelling my plan with them. NOT THEIR FAULT(we just go to another gym because of child care needs). Usually cancelling a membership is a repeated horror story with gyms, however their professionalism and simple process was amazingly pleasant. When I can legally not have to watch my kids, you know like around 3 years old or so, I'll happily return to planet Fitness Flourtown. I'm kidding on leaving my 3 year old children by themselves. They'll be at least 4 and a half. Kudos to this place and staff. read more

Just joined here (they just opened this summer) and really like it so far! It's huge, lots of space, very clean, all brand-new equipment. The cardio machines (of which there are about a million) all have a place where you can plug in your iPod or iPhone, or you can just plug in your headphones and listen to whatever channel the TV in front of you happens to be on (each row of machines faces a different channel, so you can choose where you want to be). The weight machine area is also very big, and there are two of most machines (sometimes more than two) so you don't have to wait. They all have detailed instructions, w/ photos, so you don't have to feel like an idiot if you've never used the machine before. There's a 12-minute abs circuit, and a 30-minute weights circuit (which alternates w/ steps, so you get cardio in there too)--both are run w/ traffic lights, so you do the machine while it's a green light, and switch when it's red. There's also a bunch of free weights and benches, and a nice abs/stretching area, with kettle balls, balance balls, and this very groovy stretching apparatus that really helps you to stretch all of your muscles (including some you probably didn't even know you had used). The one star lost for me is because there are no classes, which I usually really like. For $10/month you get all of the above. For $20/month, you can bring one guest per day, unlimited, and you can use the tanning bed (very similar to a space ship...I'd never tanned before, not sure I liked it), the massage chair (like a pedicure w/out the actual pedicure...or foot massage...but you know, it's the same chair they have in most salons), and a very weird contraption that emits red light therapy, which supposedly relaxes you, encourages cell rejuvenation, promotes healing of all kinds, and mows your lawn. Just kidding. But you have to stand up for 12 minutes, which I did not find at all relaxing, and there's the whole bright light thing, and the heat...just a little too much like a near-death experience for my liking. And you get a tee-shirt...because you *really* need another one, don't you? Another good thing: no up-front fees (though I think maybe w/ the $10 membership there was something up front, but not much), and they'll pro-rate the month if you're starting in the middle of their billing cycle. There's a "rate guarantee" charged in June every year, but no contract, so you c an join now and just pay monthly and see if you like it, and no extra fees till next June, and then it's only like $40 extra just for June. Pretty sweet deal. Tons of parking...and it's just a few doors down from Dunkin Donuts, so if you're feeling peakish after your workout, a sugar rush or caffeine jolt is just yards away. read more

Not a meat head, but I do basically come here to pick things up and put them down. Seems a pretty good gym, especially for what they charge; had my lady love join for $20 a month so that she can use the massage chairs and other perks since they suit her more. Since the membership comes with unlimited guest passes I can go for free, or really $10 a person, sans those benefits. Long rows of cardio machines with folk cycling out frequently, so on the off chance you do have to wait, it shouldn't be for very long. The machines were all in exercise order every time I've been there, but a few of them had nonfunctional headphone jacks so it occasionally affects my ability to watch TV whilst I do my warm up/cool down runs (there are about 20 of them running the length of the gym for you to watch from the treadmills and what not). There are a lot of weight machines, though some things seemed lacking (I like to do my shoulder pressing that way, which also makes calf raises easier to accomplish), and though there is an abundance of free weights/dumbbells, they don't seem to go up to the higher weights other gyms sport; a non-issue for this weak fool, so I didn't influence my rating, I just felt others may care. Basically, I've got and old football regiment from my high school lifting days that, while it does take some searching and occasional creativity, I can do to about 90% completion. Haven't seen any classes going on, though there are strange stop lights that occasionally change between green and red, and, not that I need or want much in the way of guidance, but the staff seems eager to stay out of your way to the point we felt avoided (even on day one when we signed up... Not even a walk through, just an "okay, you're a member now. There's the gym, good luck"). On the plus side, the ghost staff does seem to keep the place in very good order, and there is an abundance of cleaning spray and paper towels which everyone seems to use religiously after sets (I have seen much worse... looking at you, Sweat Fitness). Haven't been there for a pizza or bagel night, or any other party night we were never told about, but I am eager to see what shenanigans go down during that absurdity (free fattening food at the gym is like a dentist giving you pixy sticks). The extras and equipment may make LA Fitness a better overall gym experience, but, for the money, I think the judgment free zone is the better deal. Wow, I'm not sure why Dan S. and Jennifer H. gave PF 1 star? It's really a great place! (OK, Jennifer hates fliers & litter - hopefully not the Flyers. Maybe a Ranger's fan?). My wife joined soon after PF opened in the summer of 2011. She did the $20 deal, and in the fall, I started going with her as her unlimited "guest" 2 to 3 X's a week. The place is absolutely huge, clean and well lit, with plenty of ellipticals, stationary bikes and running treadmills. I've never had to wait to do my cardio (even after the New Year's resolution sign-ups), and love plugging my earphones in and watching the numerous TVs in front of me. After my cardio workout, I use the weight machines, and one of the staff showed me around the circuit my first time. Recently, I've had to wait for a particular machine, but no more than 2 or 3 minutes. There is also a free weight section in the back with benches, plus an area with mats to stretch, work with balance balls and weighted balls. My wife's complaint is that she would like some classes, maybe a whirlpool. Jessica T. mentions classes too. I get it, but it does not really bother me. But the best part for me is that the place is a mix of people, from older HS kids to octogenarians... from people who are obese, to people who like as if they stepped out of fitness magazines. I guess the point is, if you have felt intimidated by the vibe you get stepping into some gyms, this Planet Fitness will NOT make you feel that way. You will keep going back... and in the long run, that's what will get you in-shape and keep you that way. PF is right on Bethlehem Pike, parking is more than ample. My one complaint: the exit is right across the street from the Flourtown Bakery. I swear their chalkboard out front says, "Bruce, stop in... we have butter cake". Bastards! read more

I have been going here since the summer of 2013, so bascially a year. I originally had a Black Card, so I could use multiple locations. That said, I used to use the PF locations in Westville, NJ, and Washington Towship, NJ. I have also used the one in Ardmore, PA. transferred my membership over to Flourtown when I moved to PA full time, and surrendered my Black Card. I never used the tanning that much and I only use this location so it works great now. The Flourtown location has great parking, close to other stores, the staff is very friendly and efficient. The equipment is in very good shape and the overall layout is nice. Unlike some of the other locations in the Philly metro area that I have gone to, this one is not TOO crowded, even at peak times. On the off times (i.e. Sunday afternoon or week nights after 9 pm), the place is quite empty so you feel free to use anything at your own pace. In general, the crowd here seems to be working people either stopping in before work or after work. There are not too many people just "hanging out" by the weight racks at this location as I have experienced at other locations. The only complaint I had with PF in general was the inconsistancy of the massage chairs. Not only this location, but some of the other ones as well, the massage chairs didn't always work that great. This was one of the reasons why I dropped BlackCard after moving here; the massage chairs were just never working right. That said, for $10 a month (plus the annual membership fee - dont forget to ask about that when you are joining for the first time) this location is a great choice, and the overall atmosphere at this location is the best I have experienced at PF. read more

I have been working out at this planet fitness consistently 4-5 days a week for the past year. I usually just go for the treadmill and weights. The staff is pretty friendly but I do agree they need to clean more often, especially the machines since people are sweating and you can't always count on people to wipe them down after completing their workout.Parking should be expanded too since it's hard to get a spot if you are coming in after work hours 4-6. I really wish this place would have some classes as well as I know the other locations offer them. read more

I love this gym, especially for only $10 a month! I used to belong to LA Fitness in Fort Washington but really only used the free weights and cardio machines. The Planet Fitness in Flourtown has all of the necessities if you are looking to get in a good sweat. Also has a good size area for stretching and ab workouts, which I love. The staff there are also very nice! My biggest pet peeve about here though is that they don't have free wifi. For some reason I do not get a good signal inside so it would be nice if they had free wifi for members! read more

I've been a member since they opened up in Flourtown. Between 5-7pm the place is usually mobbed, bikes are hard to come by. At peak hours its a zoo. The men's bathroom (when I use it) is a mess, dirty and it stinks. A big problem is the parking lot, or a lack of parking on the paved lot. About 1/3 of the parking is on muddy gravel. Not good when its raining, worst when it snows. For $10 a month its not a bad deal. read more

I am posting this in hopes that Planet Fitness reads this review and go out to buy some Clorox and cleaning rags. I have belonged since it opened and of course, the price is amazing however, it has gotten dirtier and dirtier since it opened. The bathrooms are disgusting (dirty, dusty, water stains from a sink that has been leaky for years and so on) and I have only seen the equipment being cleaned 3 times over the past few years that I have been a member. I can only imagine the germs... The employees are fine- not very helpful but generally friendly when you enter. Not sure if I can take the filth much longer- they need to get a cleaning crew in there to scrub from top to bottom. read more

Facility needs a regular through ongoing cleaning and santization program. With many members- whose principal intent is to sweat and exercise this place must be cleaned every day. The men's room is atrocious it smells and I have never seen regular cleaning during any of my visits. Also, the installation and operation of an appropriate exhaust fan would limit the odors. The price of $10.00 is very reasonable but health concerns will impact business. read more

I have been a member for two years now and love the club. Large, open floor plan with plenty of strength training equipment, from machines to a large assortment of dumbbells and aerobic equipment. The place is clean and friendly too.I would have given this a 5 star rating but a recent experiance I had there reduced it to 4. My daughter often joins me for her aerobics and she also feels generaly very safe and comfortable too. It is on this note that I scored them at 4. A couple of the male staff members were conversing with another male friend about the different women and what woman was hot and look good. Additionally they were horse playing with each other during our 45 minutes there. I felt it very unprofessional and offensive that they would be conducting themselves in this manner espacially in front of me and my daughter and other patrons. I called and reported this today to a manager who assured this would be addressed and taken care of. Overall, this is a great facility at a bargain price. read more

Pleased with the cleanliness of equipment and locker rooms, and even at peak times (after work 7/8 pm and early mornings) it's not overly crowded. Staff is generally friendly. This gym is fantastic! All the equipment is updated and actually works unlike other locations I go to. The only down side is it's ALWAYS super busy and they only have one of some popular machines. Even when I've gone on Wednesday at 10am it's been jam packed to where you can't even find parking. I guess that means they are doing something right! But it's just hard to get to everything you want when you want. read more

After the new year (2017) for some reason the wifi started messing up terribly. I mentioned this to the people at the desk and they blamed it on the volume of people using it. At the time there weren't a great amount of people there. Plus I have been there when it was packed, like Thanksgiving day for example, and had no problem with it. Only after the new year, it has been ridiculous. I can only connect if I'm near the front desk. It's really annoying. The wifi should be able to reach throughout the entire gym. read more

I was there the other day on the tread mill. The guy next to me on the treadmill kept blowing his nose so loud like he was trying to clear his sinuses. He did this every 5 minutes. He used his hands to blow it and blew it on his hands and kept wiping it on himself. He did not use a tissue. He sprayed all over the treadmill. Nobody polices any of the nasty people at the gym. Went in to cancel my membership, but still got billed the next month. When I spoke with the manager about it she was unhelpful and unapologetic. some of the people that work there seem to enjoy promoting their self-misery but most of them are a-ok. i don't think you'll get much help from staff members, so read the instructions on the equipment. other than that, the lighting is good, the red light therapy rocks, the massage chairs ain't bad, and the equipment itself seems pretty new with a decent selection of whatever you might need. not sure what some reviewers mean by 'casual'...is doesn't seem to be lacking in the way of weights or cardio machines; i have a Y membership as well and i kick my ass into high gear the same sorta way with the same sorta workout with the same sorta equipment. i don't mess about with cardio too much but focus on the weight training and haven't seen what's specifically lacking in that area. so far this place seems to be keeping itself up; in fact, the showers look pretty clean. and now that everybody's water bill is getting jacked, i'll make it a point to use them. read more

First of all, you should read this now while you still can. They will most likely find a way to have Yelp take it down. Yelp might take it down on their own, because it involves criminal content. I will try to tone it down from the real story, but this situation has completely utterly destroyed my life, and I am still suffering to this day, 2020, the long lasting residual effects and aftermath. The original situation started in 2011 when I first went to the gym. I was harassed, stalked, among many other vile acts, which I probably can't say here, so I won't. Eventually, I left the gym, and the group of men that worked at this location, continued to worsen outside of the gym. They tried to silence me, from what they did to me at the gym, and when I went to the police to report it, I found out that they had filed a police report against me, which I wasn't even told about while in the gym, which they told the police in the report that they would notify me that I had to leave the gym, lying and setting me up to be the one that was starting trouble in the gym. Not only is it not true, I went to the gym to mind my own business, didn't bother anyone, and finally had a chance after an entire lifetime of health problems, mainly asthma, scoliosis, and migraines. I finally felt up to working out after many years of struggling desperately with physical activity, even just every day tasks were brutal sometimes. Mostly yoga, but also some weight lifting. They bullied me incessantly, lied about me, destroyed my reputation, and still to this day, I am menaced, because of the defaming rumors they framed me with. My health has deteriorated, and every time I move, at one point I tried driving across the country to find work, live a quiet life far away from all of this, and try to start over, they follow me and ruin my life more. It never ends. The law refused to do anything about it. At the time, I had planned on going to the D.A. because I researched ALL planet fitness locations across the country, and found that this was happening all over. I live in fear every day of my life. I had to leave school because my grades were destroyed because of them. I had a very high gpa, and I was going to be in the health field to help people, and do good with my life, and they ruined everything for me. To put things in perspective, and keep this from seeming biased towards just one single incident, I have been reading up on this gym recently, and as it turns out, it is STILL happening in multiple locations across the country. Back in 2011, I had to go above the manager inside the gym, because he was the main one behind all of it. I made it as high as the Vice President of the franchise, and they threatened if I didn't stop telling people what they did to me, they'd sue me. Well, after all these years, I have nothing left to lose. They keep taking EVERYTHING from me. So now, all I have left is finally once and for all coming forward as much as possible to shine a light on the lengths people like this will go to, to maintain power, and a perfect image. They are a despicable franchise, and by going here, all it does is boost their egos, boost their ratings, and fill their pockets with more filthy greed and power. read more

About one-third of the exercise machines need repairs to the TV sound connection. The machines have not been fixed for several months. The staff does not provide a way of knowing which machines have this problem... no signs are posted. This is frustrating. Otherwise the place is fine. read more

Nice people, lots of equipment, friendly staff, cheap price! This place is wonderful and the franchise manager is the sweetest! She is also very knowledgeable. All the staff is very nice welcoming and friendly. If you have ANY questions they will all help you. The place is super clean, never too crowded due to all the equipment they have, and its well ventilated. No, this isn't the place for the avid work-out pro... this is more along the lines of a casual gym goer. No pool, but for the small amount of money you have to pay to get a membership how could you ever complain? PLUS they are open 24/7 which is great for my friend who is a night owl. The slogan is very correct because I never feel judged. Even when i skipped a month then came back they were all so nice and didn't make any comments (la fitness scolded me if i missed a week.....really guys?? DEmotivational..). Planet fitness is great for what it is. A supportive place for people to try and get in a shape other than "round". -Edit 3/4: This place is packed now... which makes me not want to go.
