I don't understand the negative reviews for this location. So far, out of the 3 places I've gone to in Chicago, this is by far the nicest one. The girl working at the front was friendly and greeted me when I checked in. She was kept busy cleaning and even helping late comers who were interested in memberships. I wish I got her name but she worked the late shift on Feb 18, 2023. The washrooms are bright, clean and well maintained. I like how the lockers are like cages so you can see if anyone is using it without a lock. This location has the best benches with the wide seats and mid sections instead of just straight line benches. In addition, I prefer the wide open format as opposed to the multi floor levels in some places. I'd say whoever is giving negative reviews are being overly critical. The only negative I'd say is that this location is not 24/7 on weekends. read more

As a Black Card Member I liked to try different PF locations when doing errands around the city. I was on my way out to a West Suburbs and decided to beat traffic by doing my workout at this location. Clean and friendly staff. The location was not too busy and nice big parking lot. I was able to use my own sanitizing bottle which I appreciated. On this day I started with the Total Body Equipment. This is truly why I keep a membership of Planet Fitness gyms. I think the TBE to be help with lower back stiffness. It is also supposed to help with skin-tone and cellulite. I followed this by weight lifting for 45 mins. Most of the standard equipment was available. I did notice this equipment is older than most PFs and lower weight capacity on some machines. all-in-all good experience. I was even able to enjoy a deep tissue massage before heading on with my day. read more

I have been a member for a very long time, the problem is that when something breaks down it takes forever to have the machine fix. The rotation torso machine has been out of service for over three weeks. I keep getting it will be fix this week. Witch never happens, come on now it's been long enough,! read more

Everyone at this location is always really warm and welcoming and it's always kept nice and clean. Highly recommended!

I love the convenience of this place but it just keeps getting dirtier and dirtier! It is super gross and I have been a member since the summer of 2017. The areas where you stretch out has NEVER I mean NEVER been vacuumed. The floors need a super deep cleaning and the bathrooms also. The staff is always friendly but there are usually a bunch of them standing around and hanging out talking to one another and I never see anyone actually cleaning! This is my favourite workout but even at 4 in the morning there are people on their phones not using the space for its intended use. Theres a charter fitness around the corner from this PF. I came here first to compare. Unfortunately, I won't be joining this gym because of my experience when I walked in. There were 4- yes FOUR- young 20something looking people standing behind the counter. I walked in with my son and stood in front of the desk waiting for someone to greet me. The 2 guys looked at me, then looked down and continued doing what they were doing. I then said, "Hi, I'm interested in learning more about your gym and possibly taking a tour." A girl said, "Great!" then looked down and finished writing on her paper. I waited.... then asked if someone would be coming over? The same girl of four said, "Yes, I think. Someone should be over for you shortly." So I waited longer... my 10 year old son ask me if someone was helping us? Still, we waiting... I then proceeded to walk around the gym myself with my son and give MYSELF a tour. I felt weird about walking around a gym with my gloves, hat, coat, and scarf on just looking... so I went back in the front and waited for about another 10-15 second. In the end, I turned around and walked out without ever being greeted or approached. I just signed up for Charter Fitness around the corner. When I walked in there, the manager was waiting behind the desk and shoot my hand. read more

The best part of this Planet Fitness is the staff. They are very nice and do a good job running this place. It's a budget gym, so in terms of equipment and ambiance you get what you pay for. They recently upgraded the cardio equipment, which is nice. And installed a new Wi-Fi network (old one was terrible). My biggest complaint is the TVs, and lack of ability to change the channel. There are about 20 TVs facing the cardio equipment but management doesn't give staff the ability to change the channel. I am often looking to watch a sporting event (mostly football) while I work out, but staff can't change even one TV to put on the game. It would be nice if management allowed the staff to change the channel. read more

I like this place a lot - it has exactly what I need. I feel staff is friendly and helpful. Two complaints: one big, one small. Why would anyone have FOX news on their tv screen? I felt a bit sick when I saw that just recently - a station that supports and pushes racism, lies, and etc. Care more about your customers and take off this channel. Secondly, members are allowed to hang on a machine (the ones that are supposedly a circuit) and play with their phones - or hop on the one right in front of you. I travel a lot and visit PF all across the country, most locations are great. This is by far the worst location I've ever visited. The staff is not friendly. The only PF that I've been to with absolutely no "hello", "thank you", "Have a good one"... not a word from the staff!!! This is every single visit! The looker rooms are disgusting! It looks like a cheesy, dated high school locker room, which I could forgive if they were clean... I'm not sure if they have ever cleaned them. It smells heavy of body odor. The toilets and showers are often out of order. Neither the dressing rooms nor the showers have a single hook or ledge. No place to hang a towel, no place to put your soap or shampoo, no place for your clothes. Are you supposed to put your towel on the floor??? I'm shocked by just how terrible this PF location is.... so disappointing! read more

Haven't visited this gym in quite sometime, been trying to go to other locations that are in nicer in their quality of upkeep and proper maintenance throughout the facility. And long behold, another sad visit... From lockers that have seen better days (many of them had bolt cutters cut them open, to burnt out lights that have been burnt out since the last time I visited over a month ago; and the most disturbing was the odor). This gym needs to be shut down and updated or simply replace the staff, with people who are proud to have a job and who actually do their job vs. on their phones behind the check-in counter. read more

I highly recommend not joining these gyms, they are letting teenagers in for free and they come in groups and sit around the machines and talk and take pictures, those making it impossible to get a workout. If you go to their Facebook page and read the post you will see all the paying members complaining and planet fitness just tell them to talk to the club managers, who's answers are it's corporat's rules. read more

Awful location. I usually love PF but aside from the bathrooms and showers always being filthy, the front desk staff at this specific location are rude, immature, and utterly abusive toward gym members. I wish I was joking, but this morning a front desk employee (young woman, long dyed, red hair, face tattoo) called my Black partner a racial slur under her breath as we checked into the gym. I was speechless and didn't know what to say. I will be filing a complaint with the manager Dylan as well as corporate and we will not be using this location anymore. Frankly I hope the young woman is fired from the gym entirely. Another time, a MALE employee followed my partner into the FEMALE locker room at 1am and shouted at her. Just insane. I love Chicago for how accepting its people are and it's so deeply disappointing to see my partner treated that way. I don't recommend using this particular location if you are a mixed race couple or a Black woman, period. I will be telling my friends and family who use PF to consider pulling their memberships entirely as well. Love PF but this location has some serious staff attitude issues. Human excrement in the shower today!! Dirty sinks, showers with hair clogging the drain, constant blaring rap music. If you ask to change the music or Lower the volume they tell you to call the corporate office who in turn denies it's rap music claiming it's a variety of music .it's not it's only rap 90 percent of the time. The low rates don't make up for the misery of having bad rap pounded into your brain. Maybe they can wipe down the sinks every few days? Or maybe inspect the showers for feces? Is that too much to ask? I know it's only ten bucks a month, but the staff acts like they get paid ten bucks a day. read more

Decent gym. Not super fancy but it is clean and the location is convenient. Sometimes there are a lot of treadmills out of service but if it's not crowded you can find one because there are so many. I dread working out but the massage chairs and hydrotherapy massage beds make it worth it. Affordable pricing too. read more

The gyms remain on modified schedules and that's not what I signed up for . I need the 24/7 that it used to be and it needs to return to that as the current hours don't work. Every other gym has returned to normal hours and if planet fitness doesn't do the same myself and others will move on as the original value isn't there any longer. Not my problem they cant or wont staff it regardless of why and COVID has been lifted so get on with it. Inform your staff as well so they are aren't just a warm body behind the counter that doesn't know anything about anything. read more

5/2/16 Review Update: Upping rating from one star to two stars. The most immediate critical issue -- the horrible mens locker room -- has been addressed. Multiple working toilets are a good thing for a gym to have. Also, some improved housekeeping and layout changes on the gym floor are noticed and appreciated. The new layout in the floor exercise area is a small but nice change. Meanwhile, this gym is still sort of a good value. For $10 or $20 a month (depending upon your plan), it's one of the best deals you'll find. But you do get what you pay for. Unfortunately, this gym still has a number of weaknesses. Hot water in the showers is still unpredictable. Staffing at the front desk is uneven (though attitude has improved a bit). Many treadmills are still out of order. The music is still awful -- admittedly a weakness in all discount gym. If things continue to improve, I may keep my membership for a while. I'm satisfied for the money, as long as things work. -- Breaks my heart to downgrade my review of Planet Fitness - Forest Park. I joined this gym shortly after they opened, and was impressed at first. The location is great, and the price per month ($10 for basic membership, $20 for premium "black card") is very reasonable. The staff was friendly from the start, and still is. Brand new workout equipment made this gym seem like an excellent value. Unfortunately, things have been going progressively wrong for the past year, starting with all that new equipment. At first it was just a few pieces out of order - not unusual for any gym. But it's gotten out of hand. Today I counted over a dozen fitness stations out of order, including 8 treadmills. On a crowded gym floor, that many broken treadmills makes an impact. [Update: My wife says the number of broken treadmills is actually much higher. Tonight she counted 20 of them out of order!] Now let's talk about the men's locker room. Seems petty to point it out, but I gotta tell you: It's a bummer to use the bathroom and find that the toilet paper hasn't been refilled. This has happened more times than I can count. And speaking of toilets, the men's room has only one. The second stall has had an out of order sign for over a month. I brought this up with the manager, who admitted to me that they have given up fixing this toilet, because allegedly someone keeps flushing paper towels. Whether this is true or not, makes no difference. With one toilet stall permanently out of order and the other not maintained, I've more than once had to abandon my workout. Not so easy to exercise if you can't use the bathroom before or during. That's how the human body works. And there are often other surprises. Today I attempted to shower after my workout and found that the hot water was out. I tested all the showers just to be sure. When I brought it up to the staff they feigned surprise, but weren't very convincing. My year commitment is up and I can quit any time. I will try to bring up my concerns to the corporate office, in the hopes my wife and I wont have to find some place new to workout. I really hope they turn things around. read more

Okay So I recently moved to the Forest Park area and was looking for a gym I would enjoy going to. When i moved i was a little hesitant because they didnt offer a free 5 days pass or week pass or anything to give it a chance to see if I liked it before committing the the membership. So I actually checked out Charter Fitness down the road Free for 5 days first. I came to planet fitness and decided that the space was bigger and after receiving a tour from one of the staff just decided to "yolo" and sign up at Planet Fitness for the black card membership considering I travel sometimes and would like to use any of their locations. I couldnt have been happier with my choice to join here. Everytime I walk through the door I'm greeted by one of the staff and they always are promt with their greeting and smile. It does make a difference when they put out good vibes, makes me happier to be there. All the staff are super friendly and sweet from what I have experienced thus far. There are tons of machines to choose from when it comes to weights, cardio, free weights, etc. So there has never been a time that I was unable to get on a machine of my choice. The only thing is sometimes I'll be mid run and mid workout and the treadmill will shut off. Granite you just have to restart it, it's slightly annoying cause I then lost my summary of my workout so that part sucks, just sometimes have to find that "favorite" machine. The no judgement feel is something a lot of people joke about when it comes to this gym but hey I love that. And i totally feel comfortable working out here and trying new machines. There is no muscle heads or any judgement when it comes to be lifting my 7 pound free weights or doing the smith press. Something I would never step foot near in my last gym. Super happy with my decision to join this gym. The other thing is: the gym always is clean when I'm there and the locker rooms too! Staff always cleaning something! read more

Very basic, close to home, never too crowded. If you're looking for a super serious gym and are willing to pay that super serious price tag, this isn't the place for you. There's no spin, no super cool classes, just cardio machines and weights for the most part. While all of those classes sound cool I can just sign up for one with the park district or some standalone establishment if I ever feel the need. Weights, stair machine, elliptical? Check, check, check. Plenty of floor space to jump rope, medicine balls, and blah blah. They've got that covered. For me, it's just easier to work out in a gym than at home, and they cover all the basics (despite the bad reputation). The staff? Meh... but I don't go for them. The only thing that displeases me would be the hours and the advertising. They close early on Friday so they're not actually 24/5, and the weekend hours could be better. You really do have to keep your headphones on in this place as not to be constantly bombarded with the unnecessary PF ads coming through the sound system. Otherwise, I'm satisfied! read more

I have been a member here for approximately 10 months. This gym is bare bones minimum. If you are just looking for some cardio machines, free weights and to get a good sweat in then this is the place for you. This gym is great for people who are just starting out on their fitness journey and people who have routines in mind. For $10/month this gym gets the job done. Personally, I have elevated to needing a little more like fitness classes, towel service and wanting an overall more upscale experience. I haven't been here in several months but it was ALWAYS clean when I came here. The young staff appeared to always be cleaning something. Other than that, GREAT JOB for a Planet Fitness. But don't expect any guidance on the machines so be prepared to either already know how to use them or watch YouTube tutorial videos. read more

I had been coming to this location for awhile, I did not have any complaints until now. Upon walking into the gym to check in, I hand the front desk staff my keys so I can get checked in when she hands me my keys backache tells me that "for the future my shorts are too short". This came as a surprise to me because no one had EVER said this to me before, and I had worn these shorts and many others before. I did not even make it to my workout I was so upset that I just cancelled my membership right there and then. NEVER have I been made to feel so uncomfortable by a staff member before, especially when there were 10-15 other women with the same or similar shorts on as me. What really makes me upset is that I can get a comment about my dress, but nothing was said to the 50 year old man who harassed me 3 times during my workout the day before, and there was a staff member who witnessed the whole thing. If you are going to enforce a "dress code" then every staff member should do it and not slut shame a loyal customer who will now never be coming back. read more

This location gets super packed around 5pm-6pm so if you are coming right after work and don't like big crowds or dealing with more people I would wait to go after 7pm. The staff if very awkward. They usually stand around doing nothing basically staring at the ceiling waiting to get paid. Sometimes I see them cleaning but they don't seem like hardworking people. The gym definitely has a dust issue especially in Winter. Also, Every time I come to this gym there seems to be issues with their cardio and weight machines. The only thing that is probably worth my $10 is their 30 minute work out that actually works out your entire body. read more

I like the size of the gym and amount of treadmills. I wish there were more bikes available, especially during Covid there are only a handful. What frustrates me about this franchise is that in order to cancel your membership, you have to go to your home gym in person or send a letter by mail. You are able to sign up online, but you cannot cancel online. I wish I knew this ahead of time because I would have cancelled before I moved. This club has been billing me $10 a month even though due to Covid I am not able to safely use their facilities. Their contract spcifies I should be able to cancel my membership at any time after one year!!!! This place is a dump. Between the equipment being poorly maintained, sometimes completely broken for over a week, weights on most machines only go up to 100lbs while at other Planet Fitness in the area the same equipment has double that. Paper towels dispensers are often out and you have to walk around just to hopefully find one with paper towels so you can clean the equipment off. It's one of the few Planet Fitness in the area that isn't open 24/7 yet it's busy enough to be opened 24/7. All around this particular Planet Fitness feels like the franchise owner and. Managers do the bare minimum to keep it running. Do not make this your home gym, do not sign up at this location, do not give these cheapskates your money. read more

I had gotten sick the week after and had not been able to work out to this day. i am still paying for my membership because i am un able to get to the club at the moment. When i call the club to try to get help and get this resolved everyone tells me to simply "google" a customer service # and that got me NO WHERE. when i asked to speak to a manager i get the usual response that none are available. i would like to get my issue resolved asap. seems like they do not care about their customers or their HEALTH! read more

Where do I begin. First, if your business model only charges members 10 bucks, don't start eliminating services to make up the difference. The toilet in the men's locker was broke for over a month, there's a broken mirror with caution tape that's been there for weeks, now they are removing paper towel dispensers (the ones that are there don't stay full) I guess to save money. Hmmm, if you already purchased them, why not keep them up? Members will use the towels anyway (at least paint the walls where you removed them, sheesh) Did someone do an analysis and figure if you reduce paper by 4 dispensers you can save money?
