This is the best planet fitness I have ever experienced, and I have been to over 75 of them across 27 states in my travels around the country the last handful of years.. Every one has some kind of problem or issue, either dirty bathrooms, or unfriendly staff, or not enough space or functional equipment but this one specifically has it all.. It definitely has the most equipment + multiples of most of the frequently used things making your workout much more efficient and less stressful.. Also has every machine you would need to use for any workout including actual straight bars for squats/deadlifts/etc not only the Smith machines.. The bathrooms are always clean, everything is always stocked, the staff is super friendly, and the manager Kevin is the coolest most keep it real dude around.. His employees clearly love working for + with him, and he's even out there cleaning and restocking himself.. Highly recommend this gym, as even the other gym-goers are nice and friendly, helpful and considerate of others! 10 stars if I could read more

Just as a warning, they've been unable to cancel my membership after attempting to cancel in person, online, and over the phone customer service. My billing just went through another month because they can't do anything. I could be paying $25/month for a gym I don't go to anymore for the next year, and they show no signs of urgency to fix the issue. I'll take this down if they issue a refund and cancel my membership, but until then, know that it could happen to you! read more

Had a knee replacement, called the Hermitage gym and asked 'How should I cancel' and was told I had to come in to the gym. I was ambulatory some weeks later and went in and canceled. As it turns out, I could have canceled online, so whomever answered the phone was uninformed. Hours later, after I had canceled, my bank was hit with a $50 annual fee. I called the gym to get a refund and was told that my request for a refund for the annual fee had to come from "corporate"; they were just trying to get me off the phone. Again, no one knows what is happening. I called billing and they said refunds were "at the discretion" of individual gyms. I called back and got the manager and told my story and he basically said the contract said "no refunds" even if those refunds are warranted, and taking fifty bucks out of my account after I had canceled, is certainly warranted. Apparently they also have trouble getting debited monthly funds back. This was a really easy call. The manager could have refunded me the annual fee; he just didn't wanna. I've never really been a fan of the Planet Fitness "no judgement zone" marketing, as I find it super hypocritical. They say no judging, yet plastered all over the walls is stuff making fun of people that come in and lift a lot; "meat heads", for lack of a better term, or "lunks", as PF calls them. That being said, it is an amazing change to come from the Nashville YMCA system that is loaded with Crossfit dudes slamming weights everywhere, to this PF where it's super relaxed. Everyone here goes at their own pace and has no need to compete or show off. The clientele is very diverse, from people that just come in to do cardio or light lifting to people who lift regularly. But again, everyone is super respectful of each other and there's no competition. This is also one of the cleaner PF's I've ever been to, and the staff is super friendly. There are TONS of cardio machines always available, including treadmills, bikes, stairsteppers, ellipticals, and arc trainers. There are 4 smith machines (unfortunately no squat racks), free weight dumbbells, and tons of machines. I've always been able to do full workouts with no wait on any machines because there are so many. Plenty of TVs near the cardio stations, tanning beds, hydro massage beds, and clean locker rooms. They have also added free Wi-Fi since I wrote this first review, and all you need to do to sign in is enter an email address. Also, the staff here is absolutely the best. They've always been super friendly, welcoming, and are always on top of things. All in all, it's a great place to work out, and you can't beat $20 per month ($10 per month if you only plan on working out at this one location. Top that with it being open 24/7, and it's my favorite gym I've ever been a member of. read more

Out of all the planet fitnesses I've been to around the Nashville area this one has to be the most boring one. They need to put in that CrossFit/Circuit training station like the Madison and La Vergne PFs has. read more

This PF is kept clean. It's also a relaxed environment and I especially like the total body enhancement machine(red light therapy) and the hydromassage beds. I don't care anything about ever using the tanning beds since I'm not planning on getting skin cancer later in life. The world will all learn one day, I hope. High atop a hill, next to Hermitage's bowling alley, sits Planet Fitness-Hermitage. A couple of my colleagues and I met up here for a sweat-it-out Monday session before devouring Japanese food. Plenty of parking, so no issues there - which is refreshing. Maybe it's the layout of the place, but it seems smaller than the Charlotte Pike location, and tiny in comparison to the PF in the Boro. I don't love the lighting; almost too bright on the main floor. The bathroom seems smaller in some regards than most PFs I have visited. Only three restroom stalls, and the changing room benches are tiny...making it difficult to not dump your stuff all over the floor. Plus it wasn't very clean the day I visited. The first time I ever heard the sounding of the "Lunk Alarm" was here. Although, I did not see what had triggered it. (And I agree with many...this is the one thing about PF as a whole I don't like.) I like the Precor stretch chairs, but the first of the two I tried felt as though it was not stable. (Had some see-saw action.) Luckily, the other was stable, but the grips on the handles have seen better days. The treadmills are the same as those at Charlotte Pike, and I just don't love them. But they get the job done. The plus? I think this location has more treadmills than Charlotte does. They are VERY limited on bikes here. So if you like to cycle with your friends, you may want to try another location...or go when it isn't busy. read more

Planet fitness. It's exactly what it should be. The facility is always clean and the staff is always helpful and friendly. For the life of me I can't understand the pizza night and bagel mornings, but that's not really for me to understand. If they want to be planet carbs for a day or 2 each month, it's like Bobby Brown said, it's their prerogative...or was that Britney Spears?? I'm getting off track. If you want a nice clean gym without the lug heads and weights slamming around, PF is the gym for you. The intensity isn't high but then again, I don't need anyone screaming at me to get that last 1/4 mile on the treadmill. read more

For starters, I just want to say that I'm not trying to put this gym on blast. It's a nice, clean, newer facility that serves its purpose and the staff is mostly friendly. The price is right and it's convenient for those in Donelson/Hermitage. The things I mention below are based on my opinion and I only want to make people aware of why I left, knowing full and well that my issues with this gym probably wouldn't bother most people. So, here it goes: CONS: I decided to cancel and go elsewhere because I really can't stand the PF brand. When I first joined I didn't think it would bother me, but I was wrong. I'm sure this sounds petty to most and if so, I say join and ignore the next 3 paragraphs. 1. They promote themselves as a "no judgement zone" by not allowing "lunks." They plaster "rules" in big writing on the walls to deter people from carrying around big water jugs, grunting and doing anything else considered stereotypical of a meat head. But all these restrictions come off as doing the exact thing they claim to be against ... judgement. This is just my opinion. I personally don't mind meat heads and gym rats, as I'm there for me and usually don't notice the people around me that much. If you feel "judged" at other gyms, and "lunks" annoy you, then maybe this gym would give you peace of mind due to their rules. But the branding bugged me a lot. 2. Another big strike against this location is that they don't offer wifi. The guy at the counter said it was because of security. I find this odd because almost every business of this size that I know of has a guest wifi available for customers. They have a bunch of TVs, so maybe the wifi isn't an issue for most people, but I personally like to watch my shows on Netflix on my iPad while I'm on the bike or the elliptical. 3-4. Also, this gym is huge but they don't have rower. That's not a dealbreaker for me, but it's worth mentioning since this is a review. This location is in a meh part of town that isn't much to look at and turning left out of the parking lot can be a hassle because there is no light. PROS: There is plenty of cardio equipment, it's 24 hours and the locker rooms are spacious and clean. There is plenty of parking, a variety of classes and you can't beat the price. read more

Staff is friendly but sometimes aren't as helpful as they could be sometimes example: "I can't assist but that guy over there may be able to." Not as many free weights and area that many would prefer. I have heard they have no place to squat or deadlift.. but I haven't tried to do either to verify yet It's a bit smaller and less options than the franchise in Hendersonville. I usually go w a member as a guest. The staff is friendly and the gym is clean. I wish there was a greater variety of equipment and maybe a larger area for mat work. No group classes. I have been going to this location since a few months after it opened. My full size gym, LA Fitness Hermitage, closed down and it was the closest option aside from the YMCA. Within an 18 month period, I have managed to lose 90 lbs, and I have about 20 lbs before I get to my goal weight. I lost this weight only through weightlifting and cardio, and eating smaller portions. People make fun of Planet Fitness, saying that it's only for lazy obese people and cardio bunnies. I see mostly very in shape/fit people at this location and most of them lift weights. Regardless, it's not the gym, it's the work and motivation of the individual that determines your success. It has served it's purpose for me. I do think that it's a bit too crowded now, because there's not many options for gyms in the Donelson/Hermitage/Old Hickory area. It would be great if they could buy the space next door to expand, adding more weights---which seems to be what the majority of the members at this location utilize. I noticed a few new odd looking seated cardio machines in the past few weeks. No diagrams of how to use them or what muscles they work. I had to hunt for a staff member to show me how to use one. They also have gotten 2 rowing machines that utilize water. No, PF is not equipped for the competitive bodybuilder, just because the weights max out at very small limits. There's only 4 Smith machines and that's the hottest commodity at this gym. It's hell trying to access one M-F from 3pm-8pm. I do wish the staff monitored those more. I often see guys wasting time, occupying the equipment. Last week, a guy had not even plated the bar, but he was leaning on the Smith machine talking to a girl for about 15 minutes during peak hours. They have cameras and monitors, so the staff should be diligent about addressing this. I don't think members should have to confront other members about their inconsiderate usage of the facility. The paper towel dispensers are often empty, even though you have 2 or more employees standing around chit chatting during busy periods. They are very slow at repairing/replacing broken equipment. I have reported several things myself, even missing attachments for the cables. The men at this gym are very inconsiderate and I often get my weights "taken" when using the Smith machine. You should at least ask if I will be using them, and don't assume because I'm a woman that I don't lift heavy. The ladies locker room/restroom is usually smelly and nasty. The change rooms, some of the women are so nasty that they leave their dirty Qtips and clothing tags all over the floor where they remain for days. The metal sanitary containers in the toilet stalls are not emptied for days. It baffles me how poor so many women's hygiene is--attractive women who appear clean. So they could definitely do better with checking the bathrooms maybe every 30 minutes, and making sure they are hygienic. *****Nothing management can do, but I always see women using the toilet and entering the floor without washing or sanitizing their hands. I hope that area eventually gets a full service gym like BoostFit Club in Bellevue. So I will remain at PF for now. read more

I am extremely pleased with what my $10/mo pays for! There is so much variety in machines, plus the 30-minute workout area. My xfinity wi-fi always works, there seems to always be a machine available, even during busiest times. If you want a staff member to help you, they are extremely friendly and there is a schedule that you can sign up for anytime to get different types of training if you'd like! The bathroom is clean and there's always a locker available. I continuously see staff cleaning and keeping supplies up. Thank you PF for being an awesome gym!!! read more

You get what you pay for. I've been a member of this "gym" for a few months and I'm now thinking about leaving and finding a new gym. One of the problems with joining a discount gym like this is that you have to work out with society's bottom feeders. I hate to say that, but it's true. Just a couple of months ago, for example, someone stole my keys from the gym. You would think it would be okay to lay your keys down for the hour or so it takes to get a workout in. Nope. Someone made off with them. And replacement keys these days aren't cheap. To replace the key fob and the key you're looking at $200 - $300. Another example of my bottom feeder comment: Just today I was walking on a treadmill. A guy on a treadmill near me actually spit a huge loogie on the tread of his machine and kept on going like it was no big deal. One thing that cracked me up was that when he was finished he actually took the time to clean the digital display and the handles, but he left his big, nasty loogie on the tread. Gross! The gym has a lot of cardio equipment that faces the regular gym equipment. This is problematic because a lot of people on the cardio equipment stare at you while you're working out in the other area. It's very uncomfortable. The manager needs to put up a room divider of some kind for privacy. The staff has been hit or miss. Some of the staff have been friendly while others have been pretty icy. A couple of times the staff has actually been borderline rude. The gym is always packed. I've tried going there during off-peak times and it's still packed. I've about had it with this gym and I'm going to start looking for something better soon. read more

I am a black card member now for 2 years and have been to numerous planet fitness locations. This specific location is closest to my house however, when I come to the gym, finish my workout, I have to wait more than 20 minutes to wait for an employee to either 1. get off their phone 2. hang up on a PERSONAL call 3. listening to music and ignoring members!! I am extremely disappointed and making me reconsidering renewing my membership based on this behavior. Absolutely unacceptable. Whoever the manager is, you need to reconsider some employees and their behavior....just saying. read more

I love this Planet Fitness - everything is always so clean and the staff is friendly. I can't comment on likeness to other PF's in the area, but machines seem to be pretty well organized by body area. I've been at odd hours of the day and it never is overly crowded. My only gripe is downgrade in memberships - if you have the "black" card ($20/month, access to tanning/massage beds) you have to pay a $60 buyout fee in order to downgrade if it hasn't been a full year. read more
