When I started going to planet fitness in Holt on 2023, and everything was great I was treated nice all the staff was nice. I loowd forward to going because everybody was so nice. Until they changed managers, inexperiencede. changed the manager. Why they would put somebody in charge that doesn't even carechange managers, she's just not willing to help anybody Until I realized the first year I went, I was charged $180 extra At the end of the year. because they don't use online banking Chime bc they're third party billing they will not use my information to pay my bill, a payment they just charged me $15 what's funny at the manager can't reach out to her boss just to help a client, anyone else just pay, that' extra 280.00 a year to give away. Especially bc I am a Senior citizen too. I Just don't have it. Now after it's been I received Sliver sneakers!! read more

New equipment recently and I really like it. The only problem is the newbies not getting guidance on how to behave in the gym. It will just take some work and hopefully people will figure it out. Kids in the summer is still an issue. Overall I like the changes. read more

Today was my last straw I want to cancel my membership so bad. every time I come here I feel like I am being picked and some employees are very rude. 1. they are telling me I can't record myself on the gym floor when in the policy it says only no recording in the bathroom and it doesn't make any sense when i see other people do it all the time. It certainly seems to be only me that they speak to because i have asked other people who I have seen doing the same thing as me have they encountered this problems and it's always a no I really do not like pulling the race card because I try not believe in that but the only thing different between me and the other people is that I am AFRICAN AMERICAN it is very frustrating. They also have tried to tell me that I can not wear certain shoes in there but I see people walking around in BRIGHT yellow and orange crocs literally to this day and it's really not fair. When my shoes were not even crocs. Someone needs to update there actually rules and policies because I refuse to be discriminated. As I look up the holt Facebook page I see them literally posting picture of people who took pictures at there gym but they are tying to tell me I can't this is very saddening I only come here cause it's convenient but I guess I'll be going to crunch from here on out I just do not understand why I deserved this kind treatment some of them employees were very rudeeeee. I would not recommend this planet fitness to anyone. Stay far away. Tried to cancel membership after the year was up. She tried to tell me the contact auto renewals THAT DAY so only way to cancel it was $60. No thanks. The woman on the phone was rude and frankly I think she's a liar. She didn't even look up the contract so how tf would she know what day it renews. How convenient it happened to be the day I tried to cancel. Have already make a complaint with BBB and the attorney general of Michigan. edit: I did reach out to management. They are the ones who said I would still be billed and couldn't cancel without fees. Now I check my bank account today and a random $40 was pulled out by planet fitness. They don't even take the membership dues out for two more weeks and it's always $20. What a money grab. Seriously. Planet Fitness in Holt, MI called the cops on me when I tried to cancel my membership. I had signed up for a $10/mo, no commitment plan at the Planet Fitness in Holt, MI last summer. I went in to cancel my membership --you can't cancel online or over the phone-- the staff called the police on me. I'm still not sure why. The "cancellation or freeze form" I was given as my cancellation was processed read in part "Payment Due Today: $10." In order to make a timely payment --and not be accused of breaching my contract and incurring further penalties-- I asked to make the payment then and there. It was due today. If payment was required to close my account, I wanted to pay it when it was due. They told me they were unable to accept any form of in-person payment on my account. While they had been able to accept in-person payment via credit card when I signed up, now they were unwilling to accept credit card or even a cash payment for the amount they claimed was due at that time. I then asked them to at least write down for me that they would not accept payment from me. They refused to do so. I then asked them to go on record and say on video that they would not accept payment, even though their form said payment was due. They asked me to turn the camera off, so I did. At this point they called the cops. They didn't even ask me to leave, just "no we won't accept payment... no we won't document this refusal in any way... and now I'm going to call the cops." I tried contacting both the branch manager and corporate; neither have responded in any way. So unless you too would like to be threatened with arrest if you try to cancel your membership, I would not recommend joining Planet Fitness. read more

I like this club. But you can't put your membership on hold without jumping through hoops - see response below - even if you paid out your full contract. You also cannot cancel by phone. They are very helpful when you sign up but not at all helpful when you need to take a break from using your membership. read more

I haven't been to Planet Fitness in Holt in a little while, and I was surprised with what happened to this location. My husband and I went at about 7:30-8pm to workout, and even he was shocked. They don't make anyone adhere to the rules anymore apparently. People were wearing whatever they wanted--guys wearing shirts with sleeves cut off, girls with sports bras on or showing, people weren't wiping anything down, cell phones were out and being used in all of the workout areas, people grunting and making a show as they're working out. Also, there were groups of younger men hanging out in areas and not leaving the areas, so no one else could use those areas, and they were gawking at all the younger women, and you could tell that some of the women were feeling the very uncomfortable vibe. Honestly, it felt creepy. I know I won't be returning and plan to cancel my membership at this location. Definitely not an atmosphere of no judgement. read more

This Place have horrible and lazy staff, they don't realize if people don't join the gym, they don't make a living, I am firm believer that members shouldn't give the staff a hard times, but oh my goodness, these employees don't have a ounce of professionalism, the place is nasty and dirty, the employees seem so unhappy, but the apples don't fall to far from the tree, the managers probably setting a bad example.... don't waste your time and money, join some where else, where they appreciate members.....Warning join at your risk!!!!! read more

I called 4 separate times to cancel my membership before finally driving there to make sure they did it. The first call they requested an email with my information, which I did. Subsequently, each time I called they said they had not received the email but, would have the manager call me. The manager never did. I finally printed off the email and brought it to them. The person at the desk then cancelled it. They could have done that on one of the phone calls!!! Total BS! read more

For the price you just can't beat planet fitness. However in greater Lansing the Holt facility is better than the Westside for several reasons. The locker rooms are a lot nicer and more modern, the equipment seems to be in better shape, and the patrons seem to be more considerate. The PF in Okemos is also nice, but very crowded. read more

I read some bad reviews and was a little nervous but they must have new Management or something because I just had a great experience! Great tour. Easy to understand equipment. Clean facility with someone walking around cleaning as I worked out. Love the massage chair and hydro massage. All good here. read more

For the $10/month you can't beat the value. I've been going for about 2 months now, and go about 4-5 times a week. The facility is always clean or being cleaned! They are constantly sweeping, scrubbing, and vacuuming that place. It's nice to know that all the machines are clean and working. The variety of equipment and stations is great, I like to do 30 minutes of cardio and then 50 minutes in weight training etc. But the 30 minute circuit training room is great when I don't have a full hour+ to commit. The staff is friendly and willing. To give you a tour and answer your questions. Only cons: the parking lot has a bit of pot holes, so be careful. Also they have limited space for free weight benches. I go when it's normally their down time, so I can't imagine what their peak time would be like! All in all, great place to get a nice workout without intimidation or stress. read more

During the few occasions my family has visited Planet Fitness, both the facility and basic safety rules weren't enforced. On several occasions members were prevented from using equipment while others talked at length on their cell phones. This is especially frustrating during peak hours. The other day, while attempting to check-in, two guys (neither of which was checking-in) carried on a 15 minute conversation while standing a few feet in front of the check-in desk. Every person who entered the facility had to ask them to move. They were also making remarks to some of the female customers who were forced to squeeze between them. This all occurred while two employees stood a few feet away. Recently my daughter was in the changing room when two males entered and began looking in lockers. She hurried out and hasn't used the lockers since. There is a rule regarding "grunting" while working out (so others aren't intimidated) but there doesn't seem to be a rule regarding loud cursing and inappropriate stories. Planet Fitness fees are low, but so are their standards. read more

Although the gym is in top notch shape. The staff is woefully under aware of the rules, or simply too lazy to enforce them. On Tuesday 1/3/17 I was very disappointed to see people routinely on their phones, as well as multiple bags on the weight floor causing tripping hazards. Mind you all this is occurring while the staff just lazily sits around the counter. Unaware of the place they are getting PAID TO WORK AT!! To top it all of I found an empty alcohol container in the locker room as well as watched two people steal drinks from the cooler and simply walk out. Management should be disappointed in their staff. Too bad too, cause the gym would be nice if not for the dodgy location and suspect staff. I love going to the gym now. The Holt, MI Plant Fitness is great. Classes with Ben, the personal trainer, are awesome. Where else can you pay $10-20 a month and get personal training included?!! The price is right! However, with the new fitness training updates, it is clear they don't cater to employees that get out of work at 5 p.m. They used to have three classes on Tuesday after 5 p.m., but none now. None on Monday or Friday :( Also, the Holt parking lot is very similar to driving on Michigan roads, horrible. read more

I don't understand why they insist on mopping the floor under the treadmills at the peak time if the day. I don't know how many times I have been there at 5:00 pm when 1/2 of the treadmills are flipped up and unavailable. It seems like they could mop at a time when there is less demand for this equipment. Also, I have never been to a place where the staff is so rude. This gym is horrific. They have 6 benches that accommodate people's cell phones with them just stood around. When I asked the front desk to check on this all they said was we can't do anything !!!! There were people waiting to use these benches not watch you take selfies and check your texts. The staff are just so rude and is poorly run. read more

It's a nice gym with lots of different kinds of equipment to use, just like other planet fitness locations. However, this one tends to be pretty cramped depending on when you go. I usually go at night so it's not a problem, but if you go around 5 or 6, they're extremely busy. Sometimes you can't get a treadmill or elliptical, even though they have tons of them. Other than that though, it's nice. It's clean and I haven't had a problem with the staff. read more

Picture this... you find out you got into veterinary school and will be moving- awesome! You also find out after you cancelled your membership that you have to pay still because it's past the 10th even though you're moving and won't be using the gym- so NOT AWESOME! "It's in the agreement" the employee says, ok whatever I get that I signed some ten page long thing so I could use your gym but even then, how is it ok to charge someone AFTER they've cancelled their membership? And for a full month?? I won't be using it-I'm moving. "Ok well it's cancelled but you will be charged" says the guy, "ok so I can still use it until the date I move since I'm already paying for it?" I say back "no you can't it's cancelled but you'll be charged" SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THIS MAKES SENSE even if it is in the agreement, why am I paying for a service I am not or cannot even use because I had to cancel due to moving. I purposely waited to cancel until today because I knew it recharged on the 17th and I was trying to get the most out of my money each month I pay. I could tell the guy was annoyed with me so I stopped asking questions and left but I feel robbed by this company. I will not be returning my business here ever again, as well as telling people about my experience. I get it's only ten bucks but it's the principle that I will be paying my hard earned money to somewhere I'm not even going to. I hope this review helps people when they are thinking about gyms to go to or know they will be moving- it's not worth being charged for somewhere if you cancelled a membership and will not even be using their services. read more

Beware of rude staff! I just left Planet Fitness in Holt, MI after an attempt to inquire about their membership plans, and instead of getting what I asked for I am instead on yelp to warn you. I should have come here first to see the negative reviews, which all point to the same issue with this establishment, useless and or rude employees. When I arrived there were more than half a dozen employees behind the main desk, with no customers there in need of assistance. I walked up to the desk and stood there for several minutes before anyone asked if I needed something, which was odd and off-putting. I stated that I just wanted to know about the pricing for memberships. I was told that I would be given a tour and she started walking away from me. I said that I did not want a tour, I just wanted to know how much a membership cost, to which she said she was going to grab some paperwork and continued walking away from me. I felt like she couldn't have cared less about what I was asking and telling her and I stated that I felt like I was asking a simple question, which she again completely ignored. Now I am not from Michigan, I just moved here, and people everywhere have different cultures and whatnot so maybe it's a regional thing, but where I am from asking somebody a question, more than once, and not being responded to is considered extremely RUDE, specially if it's an employee at a place you are trying to give your business. She then came around from behind the counter with her papers and said that we were going to go have a seat at a table away from the counter. I said that I didn't want to have a meeting about it, that I only wanted a reply to the question that I had now asked several times, at which point she handed me two papers, stating there are multiple options and that if I didn't want to sit with her then I could leave. The papers with the "multiple" options had exactly three options total. One is $39 fee plus $10 a month another is $29 fee plus $15 a month and lastly $0 fee and $20 a month. As long as it just took you to read that last sentence is how long it would have taken her to initially respond and gain a customer. This could have just been said to me the first time or second time that I asked, skipped the attempt at some high pressure sale and rudeness, and I would have signed up, instead of coming home to search for a different gym. Also, I absolutely understand that employees have protocols they are told to follow, and that this person was likely trained to bring somebody away from the desk to sit them down and whatever else she was trying to do, but when you're at the point where somebody is saying no to that, that they would just like an answer, if you're continuing with your little trained routine then you are being rude, failing and losing the customer. read more
