Air conditioner is out again. Some days it works but most days it doesn't. The days it doesn't work, they have to close the club. The maddening thing is there is no communication from corporate about it, and this has been going on for the last two years. Members are paying their dues. I'm currently shopping around for new gyms and decided to try this Planet Fitness location. It's very clean, well-organized, and has plenty of equipment, which makes it easy to get a workout in without waiting around. I also love that it wasn't crowded during my visit it's nice to have space to move around and use machines freely. Staff is pretty nice as well. read more

The facility is satisfactory. The staff is generally helpful. But one Staff member, Cadell? Made a huge deal about my wife not having her phone, even though I had already logged in as a black member and by policy I could take anyone. My wife had her ID, which should have been all that was necessary. I will never return to this location while this person is employed by Planet Fitness. Today Sunday October 27, tge thermostat at the equipment area is 74f. I talked to counter personnel and he told me the manager asked him to set the thermostat 74 F. My gosh hotte than 72. What tge i check IFA regulations indicate futness.centers and gyms are kept at 65 to 68F too be noncompliance with IFA regs. The facility is clean and not overcrowded. They have hydro massage lounger rather than beds.

The staff is fine but like said before the layout of the gym makes zero sense, the people that go there to workout are the least friendliest group of members I've ever experienced, it's not 24 hours, and on top of all of that there is hardly ever hot water therefore you never even get warm showers let alone hot showers. I'd much rather spend a little more money at the competitors for a better gym. read more

What a great gym! First of all price wise, you can try all you want, but you just can't beat $10 a month. Let me repeat that, $10 PER MONTH. Let's be honest here, that's almost free as far gym memberships go. Equipment is nice and new, gym is not overcrowded even at peak times. I came on a Wednesday evening around 5:30, and plenty of equipment was available. If you don't care about paying for a swimming pool that you never use as part of your gym fee, this is the place to be. read more

Joining planet fitness was a really great decision. I am so glad we made the decision to get fit! -It's conveniently located in Hoover. -I love the hours(morning, noon or night)- though 5pm M, T, W, R are very crowded. -The staff is friendly. -The equipment is in great condition, though you can tell which are favored by gym rats. -There are trainers available(separate cost) for those that are interested or if you have a quick question...like how to properly use a machine. -They have a wide variety of free weights, several of the same weight which really comes in handy!! *Abs, arms, legs, cardio....all good options here. The difference between four and five stars: **Only negative- everyone is NOT consistent with wiping down the machines after use. This bugs the HECK out of me. It's actually gross! For this reason, I try to wipe down the machines before AND after I use them. No one wants janky germs folks are spreading these days. Be courteous and take care of smelly germs. Gud old Planet Fitness! It's pretty much (almost) everything you could want in a gym selection. Open 24hrs (during the week), cheap ($10/month) and offers great variety! Been coming here several months now and really enjoy it. I'm not even close to being some super always in the gym kinda guy, but when I do show up... it's always been a fun and comfortable environment. Again, plenty variety in machines and free weights, a couple trainers on hand at any given time, and also a fun/intense almost non-stop "stations" workout! Clean locker/restroom facilities, audible music playing (never too loud to drown out your personal Miley Cyrus Mix!) water fountain and even concessions for purchase. There's also a few tanning rooms. So if you are on the fence about a gym or live close and always wondered about this place... Give it a shot or at least stop in for a free tour! read more

I love planet fitness! Have been a member of various gyms over the years and chose PF because of location and convenient locations. All the staff are always helpful and smile- they seem happy to see me :-) One big perk to me is how clean the facility is! Always smells and looks nice. No locker room smell lol. The bathrooms are huge, lots of room, lockers and showers- again always so clean and shiny! I love their equipment- it's really nice and kept is great working condition. Huge plus!! There is a lot of various type of cardio machines, weight resistant machines, free weights - to much to try to put it all down :) Tanning beds are available but I don't tan. However I have used the total body enhancement which has red light and a vibrating plate that's supposed to reduce cellulite, time and tighten skin. Idk if it does all that but the warm light and vibration warms my muscles nice so I don't have a long warm up period to my workout. Love love love the hydro massage tables! It's like dessert! Fully adjustable speed, intensity and range you want to be massaged on your back side :) They have fitness class you can sign up for (not tired them yet) and a 30minute workout circuit for those days you wanna quick but structured work out. Black membership is 19.99. It gives you unlimited access to any planet fitness, tanning, massage tables or chairs, total body enhancement, product discounts, training and..... you can take a plus one every time you go! Any workout facility is good in the general mindset. Overall I like this gym because its a good size, has alot of various types of equipment to use. The workers seem very friendly and helpful from what I can see. The maintenance is very good as well, very neat for a gym. The major thing is availability of equipment vs people....so why not check it out? read more

The club is fine and the staff is friendly. BUT just try to end your membership. You can't do it online or by phone. I was told I had to do it in person or by certified mail. When I asked what happens if a disability prevented me from leaving my house, I was told that I surely could get someone to go to the post office for me read more

I have always felt welcome here. At most gyms I can feel judging stares, but this one literally has a sign "judgement free zone".

Friend of mine told me this was a good place to work out. Easy to join. Lots of equipment. Not a ton of muscle heads walking around flexing.

I have been a member of planet fitness in Hoover for several years I've always enjoyed going there and I've had a lot of success with my workouts and the trainer. However I do have a complaint about the cleanliness of the women's locker room prior to the renovation it was a little bit raggedy but the staff did a pretty good job keeping it clean. After the remodel everything was so fresh and new it was wonderful! Now the mold is starting to take over in the women's shower and certain corners look like they haven't been cleaned in months! A good scrub down is in order. I have mentioned this to the staff on several occasions but to no avail. Get it together PF Hoover. You don't want to contribute to the spread of the types of germs that grow in public showers. read more

This Planet Fitness ("PF") is located right off of Montgomery Hwy & Data Drive. You can find it when you drive by Regions branch or Hunan Garden. The parking lot is spacious and a plenty of restaurants nearby in case you need to get some food after the workout. I signed up almost 3 years ago when I moved down to Hoover from DC. I chose Planet Fitness because of 3 reasons: 1. economical (super cheap, only $20 for black members), 2. flexibility (you can go to any PF locations in the United States), and 3. convenience (located right near my house and all of my clients out of state). How can you beat that? On top of those three reasons, I am pleased with the clean facility. You'd think that $10-$20 won't get you much but the facility is spacious, clean and organized. The PF staffs are very professional and friendly too - a few of the rude staffs from a while back had left. Lastly, don't expect every PF locations to be like the one in Hoover. When I went to the ones in Georgia and Carolinas, they were not as good. As matter of fact, I researched a little to see if I want to open my own location. It seems like it'll cost about $3M+ so definitely not cheap! read more

I've been here at this location once before but this second time had me walking out pretty upset. The staff is okay. But the people in it gave off this heavy unsettling atmosphere. Plus, the layout of the gym wasn't helping me achieve my workout for the day. I needed to work on abs but the "ab workout section" was pretty sad looking. No benches. Only 8Ibs balls and the mats. I needed a bench. So, I worked out by the weights where there were benches. Everything was okay until these two ladies thought it was wrong for me to do my ab workout there. They decided to invade my space, causing me to gather my things and move to another location. So, no bench. I had to improvise. This was by far the worse case I've had and I will not be back here as long as they are there. I just needed a bench.......... What was wrong with that? read more

This is my first time at planet fitness and my initial feeling about it was that it was what it was just a basic gym I didn't get much information from the front desk clerk but I'm pretty sure she was new so when I finally got all sorted out and figure things out like where the lockers are and how they work and all that I wasn't showing anything I had to ask for everything they were completely kind of unaware that I was even there anymore after they got the payment. So I got my stuff in a locker I went into the tanning room 10 and came back out didn't have a bag with me for all my stuff so I was carrying it it out to my car Having to make two trips when I came back in from the first trip open my locker and it was empty previously it had some money sunglasses and a few other items I knew exactly who had been in it because I saw him looking at my locker when I was doing the code and the timing of when he went back-and-forth was too perfect so I followed him around and he was very suspicious of me at this point I went and talk to the manager and he immediately said you do know that we're not liable you do know that we don't have cameras I'm sorry I don't have any proof I can't do anything about this all I know is he's been a very good member for a long time here I said OK fine and then this morning I googled Planet fitness thefts In the Birmingham area and found this video https://www.cbs42.com/news/crime/birmingham-police-investigating-planet-fitness-thefts/1437871458. And I couldn't believe it it is exactly the same guy who is in the video from Roebuck is also the same guy in Hoover. There are so many great things about this place, I don't know where to start. When they say No Judgement Zone, they really mean it. The staff is kind, friend and very helpful. They do not try to sell you things like other gyms. For $10 a month, you cannot go wrong. It's a 24 hour gym, so if you feel like working out later, no worries. The people at the gym are very friendly too, not stuck up. I think its just the environment as a whole. I used to go here everyday until I moved and frankly miss it. It's irreplaceable. Another thing I really like about this place is the lights. The gym I go to right now has lack of lights on and that is a bit depressing to me. Also, I appreciate cleaning supplies, I am a bit OCD. Overall, this place is a good place to workout and you get back much more than you pay. read more

Value, value and value. PF has enough machines to satisfy those that working out means cardio. Treadmill, elliptical or bike machine. It does that group of exercises very well. It has free weights but if that is your thing you'll probably be disappointed however if that is your thing you are not likely considering PF anyway. Other machines and cycle routines are decent. The best thing about this place is the price. Cannot be beat anywhere and no contract. read more

I signed up for a membership was told by two people I would only be billed $11 for the month. I look at my account & I am billed $15. I call about it to try & figure out what's wrong and the manager says, "it's only $4". (I know it's $4, but I am a college student & $4 is a whole chicken sandwich.) I just wanted to know why I am billed more than what I agreed to & how I can fix that problem to keep it from happening. I go into the gym & just get attitude from the manager so...
