I turn 70 this year. I find the facility to be quite clean for a ten year old gym, despite showing a bit of wear for it's age. There's always someone on the floor cleaning up and restocking the sanitizer and paper towels when I'm there. The staff all seem to be courteous, friendly, and helpful. Having no experience with weight machines, I was fortunate enough to meet Ryan Williams, one of the trainers, on my first visit. After a bit of conversation with Ryan, I hired him to teach me how to properly work out, not just with the equipment, but how to train correctly to avoid injuring myself. He has demonstrated time and again that he's knowledgable with all aspects of his job. Ryan takes the time to listen and understand what my fitness goals are, and guides me to the best course of action in achieving them. He has helped me learn how to eat correctly to support reaching those goals. I would recommend both Crunch and Ryan to anyone considering a gym and trainer. I look forward to working out on the new machines that are slated to be installed this summer.

Parking was easy, with a large lot and no issues there. However, the moment I opened the door, there was a very strong, unpleasant smell. It was hard to ignore and honestly off-putting. I have been to other Crunch locations and have never experienced anything like that. The design of the gym also feels different compared to others. It is very purple, which I personally like, but overall it comes across as a bit dated. The gym just looks plain and doesn't feel like the others at all. I had signed up for a Zumba class, so I went to the front desk to check in. I was simply told I was good to go and to head in. This is the only Crunch location I have visited that did not have me sign in or give out wristbands. I even asked about it, and they said not to worry. The class itself was full, and the instructor was great. That was definitely the highlight and the saving grace of this visit. One other positive was that the group fitness room had a paper towel dispenser. I have not seen that at other Crunch locations, and it was really convenient. I don't understand how none of the gyms offer paper towels in their main gym areas, bathrooms or rooms. It's also worth noting that this location does not have a hot studio for Pilates, yoga, or similar classes, nor does it have a dedicated ride studio for cycling, which is something I have seen and enjoyed at other locations. That said, I do not see myself returning to this location, especially since there are other gyms nearby that offer Zumba classes in a much better overall environment.

Is it polite to have a party in the sauna? Or is it polite to stay in your space and be respectful and considerate that there are other people in the sauna with you? Which is the proper etiquette for using the facilities at an athletic club? Today, at the YMCA in Hollywood, I had such a dilemma. I was sitting in there quietly, enjoying the heat, and the quiet, and the opportunity to do that. And in walk three women who proceeded to have a party in the sauna. There was loud conversation and cell phones with videos being played, and they were talking over one another like a hen party. I asked them politely if they could take their conversation to a restaurant, but not in the sauna and they refuse to. It ruined my time that I had set aside for a relaxing piece of sauna at the YMCA. They absolutely ruined the time that I set aside. Rude, inconsiderate and selfish. I don't want a bad experience like that again. But, how do you teach ignorant people etiquette?

It's small but seems to not be busy at most times. The sauna is one of my favorite additions, it's hard to find a gym with a sauna unless you're heading to a lifetime fitness. They do 1-1 training and seem to offer some scheduled classes. I will say one nice thing is I've never been hassled about personal training by their trainers which is nice. I'm giving three stars because of some of the trainers however. My run-ins have not been the friendliest with them and based on my friends experiences at this gym they've had the same experience when it comes to certain trainers. With a boutique gym such as this, the service is everything to keep people coming back instead of joining a gym such as lifetime.

I can't write enough about this place but will try to do the best I can, being that it has been an important part of my recovery and strength in my confidence of an active, physical life I have always been used to. Memorial Regional Fitness and Rebab Center is owned by Memorial Regional Hospital, but is a regular Fitness Center separate from the Hospital off Johnson Street. It is behind the Target Store off Hollywood Blvd. It's is a large facility with more cardio equipment than most of the gyms or fitness centers I have belonged to. There are a large number of treadmills, elliptical equipment (all with your own separate TV's) you can watch and listen to with headphones with an easy separate keypad to adjust the stations and the volume. There are several recumbent bikes, separate free weight area, palates studio, Cyber machines and several special types of equipment that allow you to use your own body weight to build your upper body and core muscles. This facility is literally everything you need to get a top notch workout. Facing the cardio workout area, there are TV's above in front of all the machines you can watch as well. Being a patient at Memorial Regional Hospital, I was given the opportunity to do my rehab in this facility which also has an area with specialists for any rehab program needed: cardio, orthopedic, as well as training for special fitness goals and for specific sports. There is a nurse, Susan, in this area who is really the most helpful, nicest person to have around in case you have any questions. She continually checks on how you are feeling if you are in rehab and is there if you need her. Many of the rehab trainers there are students that are doing their internships there, and are VERY knowledgeable and know how to monitor and help you get back on your feet. They specialize on the physiological part of cardio and weight training and know what exercises you SHOULD NOT do, which most of us think help us, but in the long run hurt us. They explain why they do different types of exercises and what muscles are effected and get you started to get you on your own again. If you are in cardio rehab, they constantly monitor your blood pressure and your heart rate during different phases of your cardio training. They are very professional and are truly there to help you. Most insurance companies will cover these rehab sessions for a specific number of visits until you are on your own. Before I started going here I knew it was an actual regular fitness center and since I have been there during my rehab, I figured out that there is a big advantage to joining this facility and work with the same people you started with to achieve any goals you need to achieve. The one trainer I work with told me he would get me ready for skiing next year since I had to skip my annual trip this year. He knows the muscle groups that need to be trained in the gym and how to do it. Many NFL players use this facility from time to time in the off season for the same reasons, to get specific workouts for their personal goals. I look forward to going here 3 days a week and never enjoyed working out in a gym/fitness center as much as this one. If you have children, they have a nursery to take care of your kids while you are working out. The locker rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious, which also have TV's in them to watch while getting dressed (or undressed). I have gone from light cardio to full cardio workouts in 6 weeks and after 10 weeks, started incorporating weights for lower body and core and after 12 weeks, upper body. It has been a tremendous experience for me and look forward to progressing back to full and longer weight training at this facility without interruption. Again, this is a regular gym that anyone can join. They have very professional trainers that know what they are doing and will track your progress of all your workouts. I have not actually gotten the pricing yet on the membership exactly but is comparable to LA Fitness. I do know the trainers are a lot less expensive than most gyms, but again I do not have the exact figures. If you live anywhere near Hollywood Blvd. or in the area, I highly recommend looking into making this facility part of your regular daily routine.
