This is DIRECTLY aimed towards Manteca PF. Now I understand Planet Fitness "is what it is", which is why it 's less expensive than most of the surrounding gyms. But those of us who pay about $25 for the Black Card amenities are jipped! i love that thete are a HUGE amount of cardio TREADMILLS to choose from, but that's pretty much it! There are Elipticals and the bikes. Don't like those. Every other Stairclimber is broken and they have been for the last month and a half since i've joined. Along with that, every other weight machine is broken also and have been for weeks!! What really did it for me today (Friday May 22)? I like to use the amenities, which include the hydro-bed and the stand up tanning booths. And today I couldn't use them! There is ONE infrared booth that they keep saying it's broken. But that's been for a whole month and a half it's been down. So I use the stand up tanning booths. Tanning booth #1 is just fine, but #2 doesn't have enough cooling with the fans! You can only stand being in there for 3 minutes before you start boiling! Something is VERY wrong there! Today, when I asked to use #1booth, the gentleman told me #1 is down! WHAAAT!!?? EVEN THE LAY DOWN TANNING BED IS OUT!?? I was NOT interested in boiling for 3 minutes in #2!!!! And there's only one hydro-bed in use, because the other ones, as one of the girls told me, they were "overheating" and are down! This is a horrible disservice that this particular Planet Fitness is doing to their members! I do understand things break down. But my gosh, why does it take so long to get it fixed?? Not to mention the filthy women's dressing room ( there were globs of hair and crumbs from what looks like chips on the floor under the changing room bench) as well as the big glob of hair that was in the walkway as you enter the black card membership glass entrance. The big fan was swirling it around, and all I can think of was yuck! I went to the Tracy Planet Fitness today and my goodness, the difference is night and day! It's cleaner! I went into their tanning booth and man....it was CLEAN and not to mention a lot bigger! I KNOW it was clean because you could smell the formula that they put in the spray bottles. and it was very evident. I'll be driving from Lathrop to Tracy for now on. I would not set foot in the Manteca facility at all and I will advise against it unless something changes quick! read more

It's fine for the price but there are a few issues. Please turn up the AC! Between the entire front and sides of the gym being full length windows and letting heat in... and the amount of people not wearing deodorant... it gets really hot and stinky in this gym! I've never seen a staff member cleaning..... way too many gym members here are too comfortable NOT CLEANING the machines after using.... Employees should be monitoring this and cleaning. The 30 minute circuit room, that yellow room in the back- employees should be monitoring this area and making sure members are utilizing it CORRECTLY. This is supposed to be a quick circuit, completed in order. I use this room every time I go here and not one time have I been able to compete the circuit IN ORDER and not one time have I been able to use every single machine in the circuit due to other members just sitting on these machines on their phones. This is not a break area. This is a quick circuit area. Members here have the WORST gym etiquette I've ever seen and staff turns a blind eye. read more

By far one of the best PF's I've visited. Staff are friendly & welcoming towards gym goers, and are overall great to talk to. There is a ton of strength equipment, which are well-kept and cared for. The 30-minute circuit also still exists at this location, which is honestly an awesome thing to still have. Additionally, I enjoy how the majority of equipment is older Precor machines, which are much smoother & better to use. ( + they weigh the actual weight labeled on the stack! ) Overall, the gym's clean and well-kept, the staff is nice, and the atmosphere is good, since everyone there minds their own business & just works out + the music choices from the staff are great. read more

I've been training there since they opened like 4-5 years ago, I'm a black card member so I have the option of using other locations as well as my home club,the staff at Manteca club is like the top reason for 5 stars!! Very welcoming and friendly not in a phony or fake way .... Good people!!! The day time manager Giselle runs things on point!!! Again a fantastic staff, now the facilities bright and clean. The staff does its best to keep things in order,as in any heavily trafficked club there is going to machines out of service, and they do the best to keep things going. All in all give it a try you certainly can't beat the price read more

Looks like they are finally fixing things around here! The signs are gone and every single toilet has been fixed. The other things that were broken are also now fixed and in working order. It's definitely making a difference in the perceived quality and value of the facilities. Another plus is that they have recently made it possible for teens to get black card membership. My teen enjoys being able to go into the black card member area and partake of their amenities with me. read more

I've been working out here for a couple of years. It's a decent gym overall. I was reluctant to join because of their marketing and philosophy, but I found that nobody really enforces the stupid nonsense that they preach, which just makes it mostly a regular gym. When it comes to pricing, it's very hard to beat when you're talking about a basic membership of $10 per month and $24.99 for the Black Card Membership that includes the spa amenities, access to any location, free guests, and a bunch of other perks like discounts off Crocs, Hello Fresh, and other products. All of it was only $1 to start up with no contracts. Very enticing. Another huge selling point for me WAS the 24/7 hours of operation. With my crazy work schedule, that was almost one of the most important parts. Having said that, I was disappointed that their hours of operation changed at the end of 2023. They open at 5am on Monday morning and are 24 hours until they close at 9pm on Friday. Then it's 7am -9pm on Sat/Sun. At least this location is 24 hours in the middle of the week. Other cities close every night. The equipment department is where it separates itself from the more hardcore gyms out there. Planet Fitness is more for the casual gym goer and not for the advanced of weight lifters. There are a large selection of dumbbells, but only get up to 75lbs. There are no traditional benches with barbells nor are there any squat racks. Just Smith Machines and cables. There are lots of cardio options like treadmills, stair masters, ellipticals, stationary and recumbent bikes, and rowers. I also find that in this particular location, equipment breaks a lot. Most of the time, it takes a long time to fix. At one point a lot of the cable machines were broken and each one would take at least 4 weeks or more to repair. It's been a lot better lately, but someone is always breaking something. The Black Card Spa is a pretty good perk to have. I don't always go in there, but it's nice to have the option of Hydro Massage Beds, Massage Chairs and Tanning Booths. I've never used the Total Body Enhancement because I don't know how it works. Red lights and magic I think. The locker room and restrooms are pretty clean. Good showers and changing areas. One thing I did find a little strange was that there are no toilet seat liners. Doesn't make sense to me that there would be sanitizer stations all over the gym to wipe down and disinfect the equipment after use, but no a** gaskets in the stalls????? The staff here has always been friendly and helpful. The location is convenient. It's not to far off the freeway. HOWEVER....there is The Pho restaurant right next door. So if you find it difficult to resist temptation after a big session of depleting your calories, it DOES NOT make it easy to walk out to your car, staring at the large Pho sign and smell the FRIED CHICKEN emanating the POPEYES behind it. LOL Besides the ideology, identity politics, and woke BS that this gym has been pushing most recently, overall I've had no problems with my membership here. I've been trying to ignore that stuff because it's hard to find a gym membership with a price so low. However, I will definitely not allowing my daughter in the locker room here because she'll have to be getting dressed around biological males. read more

I commute to work a lot and I've been to every planet fitness in every city I've been in and this is by far the cleanest with the most considerate patrons. People here actually workout and don't sit on their phones, jogging machines they don't even use ( *cough stockton *cough Lodi) I haven't gotten my car broken into ( *cough Oakland *cough Hayward) the machines all work and I don't have to continuously circle around to look for a parking spot. In fact, I'm in Oakland right now and I have to be back here in 7 hours and I'm going to commute all the way to Manteca just for this gym. I was there at 5am this morning And I noticed they were playing middle eastern music. I asked the girls why is this music on blasting. She told me that they get on and play music I thought it was a station that continuously plays music. If that's the case play all music Spanish, Chinese, philipino music we live in America if they want to hear their music listen to it on their phone we shouldn't have to listen to it. This is mostly about the company itself. I've been trying to cancel my membership for at least a year at this point. I tried canceling online (I live in California, so it's SUPPOSED to be possible) and was met with an error message, then I tried sending a letter and that was no help. I moved far so visiting my home club is not possible right now, so I tried transferring to a closer club and AGAIN an error message! I tried calling and was sent to a useless automated system, I tried sending an email, USELESS AUTOMATED MESSAGE AGAIN! I was desperate so I tried reaching out on social media and that was no help. I just want to close my bank account and open a different one so they can't take money from me anymore, but I'm sure they'd sue even though they're the ones screwing me over. I have no idea how my account ended up at the Manteca location since I've never been there, but dealing with their management was a nightmare. I tried for a year to get my membership canceled, but the manager never returned my calls, and every time I spoke with the front desk they apparently didn't care enough to leave any notes on my account. When I finally got the manager on the phone, she claimed there were no notes about my previous requests and then refused to cancel my membership, even though I hadn't used it in a year. She also refused to waive the overdue fees and wouldn't give me district contact info or confirm when I could expect a call back. The lack of professionalism and customer service here is beyond frustrating. Thankfully, Miela at the Lodi location handled everything in one call. She canceled my membership and waived the fees without any hassle, something the Manteca manager claimed she couldn't do. If you think you might ever need to cancel your membership or get customer service assistance, I highly suggest avoiding this gym. My home PF gym is in Washington, and after coming here while visiting, the one thing I realized is that I really miss my home gym. The machines here are really different and don't target specific areas as effectively. They use the cable mechanic system, which just feels weird. I can never find a perfect sitting position because the seating levels are odd. Secondly, at the moment, four workout machines are 'Out of Order,' and they're the ones I like to use the most. The machines are also pretty limited. Not a huge variety. The free weights section is always crowded, and you have to always wait for others to finish using the dumbells, which means you'll probably never get to use them. Other than that, no major issues with the gym itself. The locker rooms are big, the gym has all the amenities that I need, and it gets the job done. read more

Honestly the gym itself isnt bad but its the staff. I swear the girls here are so rude and always have a bitchy attitude for no reason. Ive also noticed that most times there 2 or more people but for some reason theyre always out of towels in some stations. Leaving me to literally grab some and moving it to where its empty. Their spray bottles also suck i dont know why they havent ordered new ones. And then their water fountain area was floaded the other day and instead of putting a bucket and emptying out every once a while they just put a sign. I witnessed a few people almost slipping since it was covering a large area where people walk through. No complaints on the male workers though. read more

I Joined planet fitness Manteca and I am blown away how friendly the staff is here. I go to this gym daily and everyone is so helpful not on phones engaging with customers. The gym is cleaned hourly and bathrooms are so clean. The black card area is clean and everything works unlike many PF I have visited in the area. This is the best one I have ever been too. I waited for this place to open. I joined & I have gone maybe 6 times! The gym is too small, the machines are too close to one another, & there's too many people socializing!! I wanna work out & having to wait for some of the folks to finish their set while chit chatting is annoying!! Take yourselves to the park, a bar, restaurant or elsewhere to do that!! Where I come from, you do your set & move on. Another thing, nasty people who can't follow instructions, lack respect, manners & hygiene!! Dudes, wipe down the equipment after you use it! Nobody wants to sit or lean on your ball/booty sweat!! I don't care what my membership costs??!! Whether I pay $10 a month or $100 a month, I have expectations!! I got a membership to this place just so I could take showers, since I have been in between homes. And there showers don't get cleaned like they should be. The is black mold growing in the showers and there is blood on the walls of the showers. If you don't have shower shoes you will get some type of foot fungus. Nasty just plane nasty. This place needs to have someone that knows how to clean.. and the water is always cold. 4 out of 5 times that I come here the water is cold. Always needing to be reset. read more

Joined for the perks but they are still under construction. I love my inshape gym and will never leave. Here are things i like: 1. I really like that they have multiple machines for the most popular exercises. It cuts waiting time. 2. Everyone puts their weights away. Plus they have an alarm set when people slam the weights. 3. Lots of cleaning/sanitation stations 4. I prefer not to have people approach or talk to me. But I really appreciate one staff kindly offering a suggestion that lowered risk of injury 5. Changing stalls. No more changing by a toilet Things I don't like: 1. The showers have clear doors and are out in the open 2. All the machines are facing forward. Off to a rocky start. Too many critics have made mention "You pay for what you get" but with a brand new facility I was optimistic. The equipment was new and the facility clean. It's been more than a month into the membership: 1. Squat Rack broken 2. All cable weights missing clips, attempted to search for a few myself but all 4 were missing. 3. Women's Restroom- 3/5 have been non functional for over a month. - My theory is they may leave them closed to avoid the daily maintenance required. You may pay more at other locations gyms, but rest assured it doesn't take a month for maintenance on broken facility equipment. read more

Well, never got the chance to become members because of the gawd awful, way too loud music. You can't please everyone's musical tastes, so DON'T TRY! Just turn it off, and let people use headphones or buds. While my wife and I were taking the tour, I couldn't hear a word of the employee (who spoke at warp 9), over the oppressive noise coming from the speakers. SANDY AND RON ARE AMAZING! I love coming to this gym. Ron and Sandy have always helped me with any issue I come across and always greet me by name and with a smile. The only reason I give 4 stars is because I feel the management needs to be a little more strict/rudiment with the cleanliness of equipment. I notice too many gym goers leaving used paper towels and empty water bottles on/around the equipment after they're done, or even worse, not wiping the equipment after use. very impressed with the customer service staff, especially Nick who was there at both times we went to sign up. I joined yesterday and he was the one who helped and very knowledgeable. Explained each item clearly was to the point and understood our concerns understood what we were looking forI'm i'm trying to get back in shape again and this is my first time using the gym but I highly recommend planet fitness over any other gym especially when you look at the different prices the black card gets you a lot more perks and discounts as opposed to the $10 a month promo they are offering currently the black card is a no commitment membership as opposed to the other classic which is a 12 month commitment. I didn't wanna commit for 12 months I'm just trying to get back in shape again, but I highly recommend Planet Fitness as a whole. read more

8 out of 30 machines have been broken for at least a month and a half. Not counting the cable machines. Also not counting machines that are broken and don't have signs on them to inform customers they are not working properly. Leg curl machine with no length adjustment knob. Been missing for months. I started coming here last year around June and it wasnt bad at all. I always saw employees cleaning and machines were maintained well. Up until recently, I noticed everything go downhill, unfortunately. It sucks that I have to even say that because it was nice! Now its overpacked, bathrooms are so dirty, sinks barely have soap so have to check other sinks to get soap everytime, many machines are broken, and trash is sometimes just left everywhere I loved this gym, so I dont know whats going on with them. I'm not sure if its due to staff changing and them just being lazy or something. I hope it improves soon. read more

Leg curl machines have been broken for months and 4 of the cable machines have been broken for a month or so. Every time I ask when will they be fixed, I just get different excuses or, simply "I don't know". If they could figure out how to expedite their repairs to a week or two as opposed to months, members would be much happier. Every week I ask the front desk, they just shake their head and they tell me that everyday multiple members ask them the same thing.
