Date of visit: December 13, 2025 I haven't been to a gym that wasn't in a hotel in forever, but took advantage of some time with my BFF to check out the gym near him recently and was overall pleased with the experience. Staff at the front desk were fun and the guest sign in process was easy, though not accurate. It said I would have to download their app (which I didn't want to do) but in the end I just had to completed a simple web form and my friend scanned a code and we were off to the races (well, okay, the locker room). There were a wide variety of machines to choose from and I appreciated that sanitizing stations were never more than a few steps away. The lockers are bare-bones and require a lock (guess the built in locks are for fancier gyms), though most of them are really quite small and would be difficult to stuff a duffel bag AND a winter coat inside, what do they think this is, California? I also didn't love the guy using the speakerphone feature of his cell the entire time he was changing and dropping a deuce, would have appreciated staff coming to ask him not to do that, but overall everyone I encountered was nice and the signs of "no judgments" and general support were great to see! read more

Wow! For a packed house, this gym did not disappoint! Yes, the gym was full of exercise enthusiasts of all ages; regardless, not one machine was out of service or looked like it needed a good cleaning. From an out-of-town black card member, I was in and out in an hour's time without any problems making my trip back home a breeze! Planet Fitness gyms have not disappointed this workout fanatic!, as I have yet to be at one that is poorly kept. Just started at Planet Fitness this year and we are feeling fantastic thanks to their outstanding trainer, Andy! Andy has designed a personal regimen for my husband and I that changes monthly to keep us involved and moving forward. I've never had this personal experience before and it's led me to lose interest and quit. Andy is very knowledgeable and shows us how to do the exercises and how to use the machines. That has helped up tremendously. I even look forward to working out now! Thank you ANDY!! Also, the rest of the staff has been nice and welcoming each time we come in. If planet fitness could fix their login scanning. I am going to change my gym if I am asked to re-register my card. Also, when the tanning beds are full, and you have to be on a waiting list for the next available, it should be the next available. Not the one you're locked into. I waited 20 minutes for number one tanning bed. Number two and number three opened up, and the girl could not switch me over. I need a professional gym and this is not professional. read more

PF McHenry is the cleanest PF I have ever been to. I see the staff cleaning constantly. The front desk weekend crew is super nice. The club itself is great for beginners (what it's designed for) and intermediates. The free weights range from 3 pounds up to 60 pounds. There are tons of treadmills and ellipticals. read more

Came in for a new membership, two male employees and one female employee at the front desk. They stood there chatting with each other while I waited for four minutes before someone greeted me. And then I said, I would like to sign up for membership and have a tour, the girl rolled her eyes and said it would be a minute. I was gifted a membership back in 2018 by mother in law. I canceled my membership in 2022 after getting a new puppy that needed extra attention. I canceled in person with my husband. Today I found out they have been charging my mother in law after I took her card off the account in 2019. And when she blocked the charge they charged me. I called today when I saw there was a charge and was told I never canceled my membership there's nothing on file, like I didn't go in person! I asked about my husbands and they said he was only showing as a guest which makes no sense because we both had memberships and we canceled them on the same day! They are scammers! read more

I've been going to this gym for quite some time now, and it's not like it's a terrible gym (it gets the job done especially if you are a beginner), but it is by far the most pathetic gym I've ever attended. I like to get my workouts done in the morning since it is the only time I have, and I am here right now, been sitting in my car for about 30 minutes, because someone can't find the damn keys to the building. What the hell. How can you not have keys to open the damn gym. How can you not get someone here who does! I was told 10 minutes, and now I'm about to miss my morning workout. Thank you planet fitness for being incompetent. Not only that but they aren't 24 hours 7 days a week like I was promised when I first purchased my membership. Only been going for several weeks but the place is clean, orderly, everything in proper working order and the staff is friendly. Half the machines are not in operations in order to support the social distancing requirements but it is no fault of their own. read more

The club is clean and has all the equipment but if you can't get inside because they don't open the building for their posted hours what's the point? On multiple occasions in just the last 15 days, cars are sitting in the parking lot and the doors are locked. Like today, news year day. Posted hours the club opens at 7 am, it's 7:30 now and we are sitting in our cars. Many are driving away. Those that started a New Years resolution by joining this club were sorely disappointed with the start to the new year. read more

Rating of 0!! Tried to cancel my membership due to medical issues with my back. They over charged me and documented my account inaccurately! Can't get a manager to call me back. Nor could I get a live person at corporate. (Only recordings to go back to club you are having a problem with, then the line hangs up.) Front desk is always ran by teens. Upon asking for a manager, they say they can't give out info. Shady way to run a business!!! FYI...PF can deduct whatever they want from your account. They say "no contracts" but corporate recording says "if you noticed additional fees deducted, it is the annual fee"...hmmmm. That sounds like a membership/annual contract fee to me! read more

I also had a problem when canceling my membership. I have 2 memberships. I suffered a back injury and am really unable to use the gym. I went in to the Crown Valley Laguna Niguel location and no problem they cancelled it right away. I left one membership open for my son. So 3 days later, 2 charges of $39 each appear on my checking statement. Apparently, this is the annual charge for each membership (including the canceled one because it was canceled fewer than 7 days prior to the annual renewal) seriously? There is definitely an annual fee for the "premium" membership and I just paid the fee for another year on an account I can't use. This is a basic gym with few amenities. Go for the cheap membership or go elsewhere. You will be punished in the long run if you upgrade. read more

DO NOT GO TO PLANET FITNESS!!! If I could do 0 stars I would!!! They care nothing about you, all they care about are their contracts and making sure you pay as much as possible. I used to go to McHenry IL, and I went in January to cancel. Since I went in a couple days after the 10th, they absolutely made me pay for January, which I was angry about. So after signing my contract that I wanted to cancel, they neglected to tell me that I also needed to sign my wife's because I was "rude" and "stormed out of their club". So, they not only charged me $45 for January, they have also now charged me another $22 for my wife's account for February, and are also charging me the $39 annual fee. DO NOT GO TO THESE PLACES IF YOU EXPECT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU! ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY!!! PLEASE GO TO ANOTHER GYM!!! read more

I checked this location out last night as a guest of a friend. I was impressed by the different choices and the amount of machines. It was very clean. There's a lot of tvs, with different channels so u have choices while you're on the treadmill. The selling point for me though, was the black card rooms; tanning and massaging chairs. A reward for after a rewarding workout. I do hope they expand their hours after Covid. They gained a new member :) read more

So let me start by saying the facility is one of the best ive been to. However, after today and the customer service of a Johnathan Tonyan, I will not visit this gym again. Even though one of the Managers, Kytana Schaudt was amazing at trying to mitigate the situation and make me feel like a valued patron. Before visiting any gym, I contact the gym directly to understand their policy on wearing masks. Last week, I contacted this Planet Fitness and two representatives informed me that you are to wear your mask, but if you are actively working out and engaged in exercising, you can take your mask off. I went to this gym this past Saturday and Tuesday and not one representative had taken issue with me by not having my mask on while working out. Today I come in and begin working out as usual to date, and Johnathan Tonyan decides to pull me aside and tell me to put my mask on. *Mind you, everyone else around me is wearing no mask either*. When I relayed to him that I spoke to two representatives and they informed me masks were required, unless actively working out, he told me that I was wrong and I need to have my mask on. I pulled up policy for this specific gym and it showed what I mentioned to him was correct. I then asked him, "why are you talking just to me, when every patron here also does not have their mask on?" he told me because he is by himself, he is not able to talk to everyone about keeping their mask on and it is not his concern either. I told him that ive been coming to this gym twice this week and not one person stopped me and they told me the same policy he just told me was wrong. He responded by saying, "I dont know who told you that and I dont really care but this is our policy by corporate." We end our conversation and he does not say anything to anyone else. That is when I looked at my skin complexion and I looked at everyone else. I recognized that Johnathan Tonyan racially profiled me and I felt targeted as an African American man when he stopped me about the mask. If it was really about keeping a mask on, I should not have been the only patron being told to have my mask on. Seeing how he only spoke to me and left every other non African American patron alone, it made me feel less valued as a patron of this establishment. I then spoke to his manager, Kytana Schaudt, and explained the incident and she did a great job of listening to my concerns and trying her best to make me feel like I am valued. She understood my concerns and the perception that was created by this incident. She spoke to this representative and she adhered to my concerns and I truly appreciate her. Planet Fitness corporate should definitely reward her for her customer service, but they need to discuss with Johnathan Tonyan about his actions today. I advise people of minority to think about their workout when it comes to this representative present at the facility. No one should feel racially profiled and discriminated the way I felt today. read more

By far worst gym I've ever been too they don't take proper pro cautions for COVID no temp check at the door ?!?! make you stick bags in there dirty lockers ...the whole 2 hours I was there one manager 3 employees stood behind counter not cleaning anything...also don't allow you to have your own hand sanitizers really wtf ?!?!? I brought my own ab roller so I would not have to touch there older dirty roller since I was I bigger guy I felt targeted at a non judgmental zone .... At first I thought this location was great. I do like the size and it is clean and well laid out. Chuck, the manager is really great, however I have been coming to this location since the day they opened as well as another, older location. Literally no one except for one staff member besides Chuck seems to recognize me ever and I come at least 3 times a week at the same 2 times I come in. I recognize all the staff and all the staff at the other location I go to recognizes me every time and I go there no more than twice a week, and do not live in the area. No one ever greets me except to check me in and I say "bye" and "have a good one" very clearly every time I leave with no response, staff is always standing behind the desk talking. I I also switched my home membership to the mchenry location from the other location and though it took little time to change my info, it did not go through for almost 2 weeks and it STILL will not let me tan for more than 2 minutes even though I switched my membership well over a month ago, and I tan 1-2 times per week. Because no one can recognize me and despite telling the same staff over and over that there is a problem with my membership, they tell me the same bs about the 2 minute tanning thing though it has been months...
