This is a great gym ive been coming here for 1 year and a half now, plenty of parking and lots of machines to work out on, but a problem ive noticed is people working on 2 machines leaving their personal belongings on other the machine so that others wont use it, also people constantly filming or taking pictures in the locker room, it's absolutely ridiculous and its made me feel uncomfortable and when you tell them something they get defensive right away, i think the staff needs to put up a sign in the locker rooms reminding people not take pictures or film in the locker rooms, it's completely unacceptable read more

So if you go on the website, you'll see that you can get a guest pass by walking in and going to the front desk. Not so. You'll be told that's not real, and you have to sign up. As you're stood at the front desk signing up, you'll get to listen to the front desk agent calling her coworkers "b*tch n*gga" at least 5 times in the 5 minutes you're stood there. Once per minute is almost impressive. You'll also get to listen to her yell at guests as they leave, then mock them once they're gone. Then, if you were expecting the tour so you know where things are (as is advertised), that's not happening either. As you enter the gym proper, you'll notice a giant sign advertising the lunk alarm, and defines what they consider a "lunk". For a "judgement free zone", it's incredibly judgmental (especially if you arrived in a tank top, holding a water bottle). You'll also quickly learn that breathing too loud or setting down the weights too hard sets off a loud alarm throughout the gym in order to shame you. Nothing says "judgement free zone" like public shaming! Now my favorite part. There's no bench press. No squat rack. No kettle bells. No scales. An incredibly small free weight area. If you want any sort of comprehensive workout, you're using machines only. That's all if you can bear the stench. read more

Not bad, people seem to be nice. The negative is that smells like weed frequently. Today is one of those days. I spoke to the manager. He was very nice about it , unfortunately people smoke weed in the car and then they walking to the gym bringing all the stank! " those were the managers words" he was very apologetic. Friendly and clean with ample parking. All the coins I've seen offer this and lots of open equipment in good repair and great hours.

I arrived at the gym at 9:30 a.m. and there were two young employees at the front desk talking to each other. They completely ignored me. The young woman who scanned my membership did it without even looking at me, and when I said "Good morning," she replied "good morning" without lifting her eyes and kept talking to the other employee. Very poor customer service. I understand that they hire young people, but that doesn't mean they should be so disrespectful. read more

So sad that this place has gone way down hill since th new Manager took over. They have cut hours and they really don't make since, why would you close at 7 on the weekend. The overall cleanliness is a joke. I've noticed the same q-tip stuck on the baby changing table in the men's room for months and forget about letting someone that works there know because your only wasting your breath and time. Maybe more like 3.5 stars but rounding up. New gym with new equipment. In the morning mostly over 30/40 year olds. Prefer this to youngsters hogging equipment and live streaming their work outs. No bench presses but they have smith machines. Ab workout area has some great equipment. Space is just big enough with plenty of cardio options. Price can't be beat! Solid gym. I'm signing up w/ their current promotion. *dead roach in entrance but hey they aren't serving food so lol **couple of leaks. Puddles have some machines roped off. New Planet Fitness location near me. Since it's new, all the equipments are new and nice. The bathrooms appear to be clean, staffs are wonderful and friendly, and the layout is straight-forward. There are multiple stations that have paper towels and sanitizing spray. Most members are very diligent in cleaning after they use equipment which I appreciate, but there are some who just leaves it sweaty and dirty.... Not cool. The only issue with it being a new branch is that you don't really know how well it'll hold up. If machines break, how soon will it be fixed? There was one stationary equipment that was out of order for a week. It's mostly empty the first week I signed up and it's starting to pick up with more people signing up. So far most members there are considerate and good. Hopefully it stays that way. read more

It's my rest day so I only came to do 15 minutes on the bike and use the hydromassage. The worker didn't set the hydromassage correctly so I only got three minutes on it. When I told another worker, she had already sent someone to my massage bed. Instead of telling that member it was a mistake and still my turn, she told me I had to wait. One of the other beds was in use and the other broken. Along with two broken toilets in the women's room. Seriously? Fix your broken equipment. So disappointed in this BS. read more

They make canceling impossible. Canceled months ago and they still kept charging me. Had to turn my card off and get a new one and basically block them from charging any future transactions. I moved hours from that location and they told me I had to come in and talk to a manager to be able to cancel. I called and did this Friday evening was told there was no manager for the entire weekend and had to go in Monday. They were completely unhelpful. Plus their gym is disgusting as well as horrible customer service. Definitely do not recommend not only this location but this company. If I could give no stars I would. Been coming here for almost two years now. There's been a lot of staff turnover since April (old manager was let go?) and a lot of the newer, younger staff when they aren't smiling to greet you or say something on the way out, they seem to have sour looks on their faces if you bring up an issue. The trainers seem genuinely happy to be there, and the management listens to my concerns. The music can be a bit too loud at times, especially in the functionality section and the locker rooms. A stall in the women's room has been closed as broken for a year. Lots of women change in the bathroom stalls instead of the changing stalls so I don't know if they need more signage to indicate there are stalls for it or not. The hours used to be 24 hours but changed at some point, which is very restrictive (especially on weekends). A lot of people do bring bags onto the floor, as another reviewer noted, and I even saw an old lady on a treadmill with a rolling bag next to the treadmill and it turned out it was a pet carrier with a dog in it! Who does that? It can be troublesome to try to go at certain hours, as well (especially during the summer, when lots of teens are there) as weights can run out. A few people like to grab 3+ sets of dumbells and keep them to themselves so they can to supersets and thus hog a lot of the useable stuff. Also, the parking spots along the front of the building are not marked so people can park like a**holes, but I'm told that is a building management issue, not something PF can address. I enjoy going to the gym but sometimes coming here is frustrating. read more

More lack of transparency and deceit. When I signed up I was told I could downgrade to the lower price membership at any time. They did NOT tell me there would be a $50 fee just to downgrade the membership. I have been a member of many gyms throughout all the cities I've lived in and have never joined a gym with such a deceitful way of doing business and having such a lack of care or customer service. When you call in employees argue with you over how much money they actually take out of your account. When I signed up, I was c given a 24 hour schedule of When it's the most busy and when it's the least busy. I'm here now at facility a b d they are closed. I am canceling my membership, for 1 thing, it isn't $10 or $20 per month. They take out double the amount. I can't even work out when I want to. They are closed. read more

Planet fitness northridge has an amazing worker named Talita. After dropping my AirPod case inside of the stair master I asked multiple workers to help but were hesitant to do so. However Talita took initiative with a friendly face and helped me retrieve my AirPod case. She is an amazing worker with great customer service who deserves a raise! read more

If you come from another area I guarantee you that you won't feel happy at this planet fitness. It needs more space, it's overcrowded and I'm not just talking during peak times. The machines are crammed together and it's impossible to nearly have enough space as I've had at other locations. You need to SIGN OUT machine equipment like ropes which I find ridiculous since we're paying for the membership. Very low funded planet fitness compared to other planet fitnesses I have been to. Annoying gym to come to some of the staff act funny at the front desk and act like they don't know/recognize me making it seem like it's such a big deal when my boyfriend's keytag on his phone can't be scanned because his phone died. Even though WE come here almost every day super early in the morning. But I understand I guess it's because I'm just on a guest pass and not my own membership so I'm not a priority. When I actually did used to have my own membership under my own name LOL. They need to work on treating guests better if they want more members. read more

I'm trying out gyms in the area. I've already tried out Crunch and LA fitness. I wouldn't go here only because I want free weights and squat racks but as just like a casual gym goer that wants a variety of machines, dumbbells, cardio, I think it's the best in the area. Change in staff in the last month is horrible! So much for keeping machine clean. There's No paper towel, no spray, no sanitizer. We made staff aware and all he did was shrugged his shoulders and say he couldn't do anything about it and just continued to look at cameras (which was creepy itself). Someone needs to hire better people or people that actually do their job besides sleeping on the job. read more

They've been hiring new people, and they seem to be hard workers. There hasn't hardly any RockBot it hijacking since my previous review either. There have been a few patrons who leave paper towels at machines, but the staff do rounds and pick them up. My only complaint right now is that often when I get on a treadmill and turn up the speed, the machine can get kind of wobbly (i have to put my towel in the cup holder with my water bottle or it rattles around), but this is easily fixed as I've seen the manager showing employees how to re-tighten something on the bottom. The machines themselves are sound, tho. I think of they adjusted the machines more that would fix the issues. read more

This gym has mangers that are so rude.I've been paying $30 a month so I had access to massage beds and tanning rooms.I asked the manager how often they change the bulbs on the tanning rooms she said they don't they don't clean them and the handle to close it is broken,dangerous,and held together with yellow tape.The managers of the gym are Maria and Melissa. They both refuse to give their last name so they can be rude to people without repercussions.I know this because I called them from my hospital bed to ask for a freeze on my membership and was talked to like I was a second hand citizen.After refusing to freeze my membership with the form they have online I asked the manager named Melissa to cancel it she said she would and hung up on me. read more

I enjoy going to this planet fitness in Balboa.the place is clean, staff are friendly especially Connor. He is there Wednesday and Sundays. He has a sweet smile and pleasant voice. Updating my previous 3 review. They hired in some good staff. Especially after 7am. Those guys have god customer service and are always multitasking and cleaning. The gym has improved so much. Bathrooms aren't as disgusting. Equipment is clean organized. And the environment is overall what you'd like in a gym. Knocked off a star cuz only 1 out of 3 of the hydromassage chairs work correctly and that can be frustrating when you're paying the extra $ for the black card. read more

I will give credit where it is due, the staff is good at cleaning the gym. Talita and Bryan (purple shirt not manager) make the gym look great. But as for the policies... they need to replace the manager at Northridge (Bryan the manager) and the area manager (Melissa). They need to bring Maria back to Northridge because the way the club is ran now is terrible is what I heard from some of the staff. Planet fitness is not honest and they worry about their branding rather than how the members feel at the gym. The purple shirt staff is excellent at their job, but Bryan and Melissa are not person people so do not expect anything good from those people. Shout out to Encino, Chatsworth, Van Nuys, and Granada hills for understanding how to run their clubs. This club is struggling with their management, and they either have to change their perspective and care or go somewhere else. It would be better for Planet fitness as a whole if they did. read more

My husband and I were going to join. We took the tour and liked the variety of machines and the "No judgement" environment. So waited patiently for one of their iPads so we could fill out the info while there. What turned us off from this facility was the fact that they wanted our banking information. The gyms my family joined only required a credit card, but Planet Fitness wanted a credit card AND our banking routing number! In this world where nothing is private anymore, I don't have to make it any easier and freely hand out my routing number so some strangers can get their hands on my accounts. Really? I can buy a car and even a house without supplying my bank info. I think In this case they've gone too far. I'll get my exercise elsewhere thank you. read more
