The gym is overall okay, and I do appreciate that the staff seems to work hard to keep it clean. The spray bottles for wiping down equipment are always filled, and there are plenty of paper towels available. It's good to see that most people are using them, which makes a big difference. My main concern is the air quality in the workout area. It often feels stuffy and humid, which can be uncomfortable especially during busier hours. I worry a bit about the lack of airflow, particularly in a space where people are breathing heavily or may not always be feeling 100%. It just seems like better air circulation would make the environment feel healthier and more pleasant. They do have those large overhead fans that are great when they're running high enough to really move the air that's a possible solution, if they could be set a little higher during peak times. PF is not great or terrible. It's pretty good. If you know how to focus on your muscles, the equipment will suffice. My problem isn't really with PF. My problem is with some members that don't know anything about gym etiquette. When I'm training and moving from station to station, I'll see some WINNER sitting on the ONLY incline bench there and he's doing more with his phone than training. The employees walk past him without saying a word. I'll buy these guy's memberships if they'll let me kick them out! I need to train and get ready for work. read more

I'm not a member of Planet Fitness yet, but when I was in town visiting, my hotel I stayed at did not have a gym on property. So this morning, I called the Paso Robles PF to ask if I could possibly buy a one-day pass to workout while in town. The woman who answered was so friendly and helpful and explained how I could get a free day pass via the app! Lucky me! Fast forward, now I have the app, got the pass, and once inside, the gym is REALLY well organized, clean, and has most of the things I use for my regular workouts (my only wish would be for free-weight barbells and power racks, but not a biggie). Staff were all very nice, and it was truly a pleasure to meet the one who helped me over the phone. She made sure I had a great experience and offered to answer any questions that might come up. I wish the gym where I normally work out at was this well organized and clean. I'm used to my gym from a competitor of PF, where weights at their locations are usually all out of order, and many of them missing, left in other areas of the gym, not to mention broken benches with torn upholstery. I also like the inclusive vibe and the way PF frowns upon lug heads who drop their weights, and grunt moronically. They have a siren to call out this kind of bad behavior and I'm happy to report they didn't need to use it when I was there. Everyone from staff to other members were really cool. This review is very important to me and I believe after you've read it...it will be important to you as well. My home gym is the Planet Fitness location on creston rd in paso. Cisco, who is the manager and his entire staff are the best group of people and they have always treated myself and everyone who comes in with respect, warmth, friendliness, and professionalism. Cisco is a good leader and always is available to the members and will spend time talking and making you feel important and welcome. In 2020 I got pneumonia and almost lost my life. I was in ICU at French hospital in SLO for 3 weeks. It took me over 6 months to recover and another 6 months to feel normal again. It was after this experience I dedicated myself to fitness and being grateful for my second chance at life. It gets hard at times to stay motivated and to stay disciplined. Cisco and his team give me another reason to get myself to the gym....they are my "friends" and they encourage me and make me feel like a part of their gym culture. Great gym - no sales pitches. I just want to work out. Two Opportunities for improvement: 1. Too many teens sit on the weight machines and watch Tik-Tok videos etc, rather than just working out. This is rude and takes time away from those of us that just want to work out. Gum Staff could be more perceptive and proactive moving these teens along... 2. He music. The music is WAY TOO LOUD! Stopped into this PF while travelling. It is on the smaller side but appeared to have the usual equipment. The staff was friendly and the club was clean. Those are the two biggest things I look for in a gym. The Black Card Spa was also really nice. I would stop in again. read more

Cancelling my membership requires a letter sent through certified mail. Enough said. I joined this Planet Fitness while temporarily working in Paso Robles. I purposely signed up for the Black Card membership so I would be able to cancel later without repercussions. I forgot to cancel before I left so I called the gym to cancel when I got back home. Nope. You can't cancel online, you can't cancel over the phone, you are required to send a letter to them requesting cancellation through certified mail. No thanks, I'll just change my debit card number. The gym itself is pretty nice, most of the equipment is in good shape and they keep it clean. My only complaint was they only have 4 racks and there is constantly a wait to use them. If you want to use the machines or cables however, they have plenty and I rarely waited. Update as of 8/14/2022. I responded to Planet Fitness on Yelp one week ago and they did not respond. I called the Paso Robles Planet Fitness and got the same answer, can only cancel via certified mail. Not sure what the point of the Planet Fitness Customer Service response to my review was, but it certainly wasn't to resolve the issue. read more

I have been a member at this location for years now. I have always been very happy with the place. They have a nice, friendly staff. The place is always clean. There is always something on a TV to watch while you are working out. The machines are almost always in good working condition. It's a gym. These machines get some heavy use so you expect that they will break down once in a while. But they are usually back in action quickly. I would just tell people if you want to avoid the crowds you don't go right at 5AM or 5PM. It can get really busy at those times. If you have a flexible schedule it can be very helpful to go go at other times. But overall, it's a great gym. read more

When I first joined, I used to see him, and he was always cleaning, wiping down and making sure all the cleaning stations had supplies. So I've been going here for the last two weeks now. It is clean, lots of machines, there's good availability of equipment at 7:00am, and the bathrooms are clean too. I don't interact with the staff, or really use anything but cardio equipment, the ellipticals I use are in good shape. My only issue is that there are no towels. I understand I only pay $30/month and so it's 'cheap' but having to bring my own gym towel to wipe my sweaty face as I exercise is a huge pain. No laundry service, no shower towels, it's all annoying. I'd rather pay more and have towel access. That said, it's easy and works for what I need so it's fine. read more

Besides myself and my husband, 2 other members were wearing masks, none of the employees were. The gym was under construction which made it feel cramped and the men didn't have a locker room. It was also disappointing to see members going from one machine to the next without wiping the machine or weights down. As we were leaving the girl at the front desk was "kind" enough to say goodbye without looking up from her cell phone. Why bother saying anything at all? read more

This location has new and friendly faces as well as seasoned staff. One of the most accommodating places you can do fitness at and feel yourself. One thing that I really enjoy about this gym is how clean the place is! Every time I come I see the employees cleaning. Their equipment is always functioning properly and also if something isn't working there's plenty of other things to do. Love the 24hr option, I usually go in at 4am and it's hardly busy. This is a gym. I'm not sure why Yelp doesn't have a category for gyms?? Anyway, I joined this gym and my husband joined a more expensive but better gym. I guess I didn't think it through when I had two different options of payments $10 a month for just the membership and $20 a month and you can bring another person, use the tanning beds, get a discount on their drinks and use the massage chair and I chose the $20. WHAT was I thinking?? The massage chairs are a joke. The motors are all very weak. I never tried the tanning beds so I can't complain or compliment. I do know that if you come at prime time, they seem to be pretty busy. And if I went with a friend they already had a membership there. I liked it at first. I was going everyday. My main thing was the treadmill or the bikes for my cardio and all of the channels on the TVs were either sports, news or the cooking channel! Okay we are trying to not think about food! Smart! I asked for some more channel selections such as entertainment or more of a human interest channel and they told me to write to corporate. The staff is very nice and tries to be accomodating but that threw me off. I do think they may have changed one of the sports channels to something else but my husband really rubbed that one in when all of the machines at his gym has a TV screen built right into it. The staff always remembered my name. I know that when I tell them my number my name must pop up on their screen but I thought it was a nice touch! The sauna was removed and I was looking forward to using the steam room. They didn't mention it when I joined and since the facility they took over, had a steam room I figured they would too. I guess it kept breaking and was too much of an expense. Would have been nice to know before I joined. My new join date is coming up again and I don't think that I will join again. I didn't go enough to make it worth $20 a month in the end and isn't that what all enrollement plans are betting on? If we all kept going we would be standing in line at the gym... Of course I know the not going is MY fault but if they had better things to make me go... better channels.... ( I mean if they can't just change a channel on ONE TV... give me a break!) more up to date equipment.... Maybe, I would consider again. I've been going to gyms for a least 40 years. This is one of the cleanest gyms I've ever worked out in. Staff are super friendly and there is plenty of cardio equipment available. If you don't care about classes or swimming pools this is the gym you want to join. read more

I've been going to this gym for a few years now, and I really like it. The staff are nice, the equipment is good and gets the job done. What more could you ask for? Sure, it might not be as luxurious or have all the amenities that Kennedy has, but the value is unbeatable. I mainly use the elliptical and the rowing machine, but sometimes I switch it up and do dumbbells or other weights. I have a black card membership because I like to get a massage after my workout--they have both deluxe massage chairs and hydro massage beds. I've never noticed the lack of towels, whenever I'm too flushed and sweaty I simply splash my face with cold water and dry with a paper towel. I think that's probably more sanitary anyhow. I also have never been one to use the shower, bring a gym bag, or use the lockers, so I can't really comment on that. read more

I have been a member for 2 years and I am a somewhat regular user. (Covid limited that a bit) The gym is clean, has a ton of equipment (machines) for weight lifting, tons of cardio and a good amount of free weights. It is basic in that group classes are not offered. The locker rooms are always clean with an added bonus, there are 2 private dressing booths that are spacious and private and rarely used by others. I enjoy the added space and privacy. My membership is $10 monthly and I still see that advertised. You can't beat the value. read more

While this is a clean and somewhat friendly gym I have some negative things to say about it's management. While I understand a contract is signed and cancelling a contract for a refund is not a normal practice, it saddens me that current management does not entertain extenuating circumstances. When it is a physical issue, a death of the person or a need to go into a care facility...these should be things taken into consideration on a case by case basis. I asked to speak with a manager and was told he was busy, I left my number for a call and was told promptly by the (insert your own word here) red head at the counter that they would not entertain ANY reasons and we signed a contract. I promptly cancelled all memberships I had with this facility and urge anyone considering this gym to consider it carefully before signing their contract. I would urge management here to better train their employees to have empathy in the ever changing world as they have no idea what is going on with the person on the other end of the counter. Shame on you for this very unnecessary situation. read more

I signed up for Planet Fitness a couple of months ago. I got the Black Card for $20 a month. With the Black Card I am able to bring a guest any time i want for free. I think I also am able to get 50% off on drinks, free massage chairs, and unlimited tanning. I really only use it for the guest perk. They also do have a yearly fee of $39 taken out in June. Just something to consider. The gym is opened 24 hours Monday-Friday. Then 7-7 Saturday and Sunday. And the customer service is hit or miss. Some people are friendly and welcoming while others seem like they would rather not be bothered. The gym itself does the job. There are multiple cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights. It's not big, but like I said...it does the job. The women's locker room is AMAZING. Super clean! There are lots of showers that have a private changing area. Which is awesome for people like me who have gotten visually scarred in the locker rooms inside 24 hr Fitness. O_O One thing that I found strange is that they seem to have a sauna but it is used for storage. Kind of a bummer. Also, there is no scale in the women's locker room. I might be because of their 'Judgement-Free Zone' motto, but it's kind of a pain. :-/ Overall, Planet Fitness is a good gym. There aren't a lot of extras, like classes or pools but it's good if you're just looking for a place to break a sweat. :) read more

Planet Fitness has excellent, affordable prices that really can't be beat in this economy. The gym is spacious, clean and very cardio-centered. The layout of the gym is aesthetically pleasing and it's easy to find your way around. The women's bathroom is gorgeous, but unfortunately the sauna (a feature you have to pay for) is not in current operation. I've been here for about 2 months now and at first I was in love. This was the gym for me. If this gym was a person we would have been holding hands and walking on the beach. I loved it so much I looked past the flaws (like the fitness trainers here are literally the equivalent of senior activity leaders). About a month in I started to notice a few things that made me go "huh....?" but I brushed them off. This was a gym. Gym's have faults. They're not all perfect, but it'd be really nice if they were. At the 2 month mark I can now see the gym for what it really is: A truly judgment-free zone. When you walk into the gym you are free of judging yourself. It helps that they have over 15 televisions to distract you from gym anxiety and self-consciousness, but the easy-going attitudes of the employees are as much of a perk as they are a con. I love that they hire people who are in high school or in college because I think it's good to give employment to the youth. However, it's important to teach professionalism at the workplace no matter what age you are. I strongly believe that most of the staff needs to be retrained or at least take their job more seriously because the impression I get from them is that they don't care. I have seen the water spray bottles go unfilled on busy days and nights, paper towels not being restocked, trash overflowing, smudges all over the windows, trash on the floor. What are the employees doing? Chatting, laughing, hanging out with their friends. Why do your job when you can hang out and have a chat session? Another thing that needs to be fixed is better training by the fitness trainers. It is not mandatory to see one, but it is included in ALL of the packages. It would be great to see a fitness trainer on the floor helping out members use machines. The only time I see a trainer is when they have an appointment. I understand that Planet Fitness would probably care more if they were held liable for an injury, but it's astounding to me just how many people use the equipment incorrectly by putting themselves at great risk. I used to go to Planet Fitness for about 2 years. For 10 bucks, it was a great value. Super close to my place and staff was always friendly when I entered. About the gym: Lots of weights, good selection of cables, plenty of treadmills, ellipticals and other running machines. Small areas to do sit-ups and other workouts. My only complaint, need better pull-up bar. I hate the sissy assistant pull bar apparatus. Just plain weak. Locker room is always clean along with the showers. Plenty of lockers. Gym itself is always clean, A/C on when hot outside. Not a big gym, no classes or pools or anything like that, but the place does the job for basic work outs. If your looking to do crossfit (not advanced workouts though), it's doable, but you have to be at the gym when nobody is there. It does get a bit crowded from 5-7:30. Kennedy is great, but expensive, however, you do get what you paid for over there. If you want something that does the job and it's cheap, planet fitness is your place. read more

Planet Fitness is as good as it gets for a 10 to 20 a month gym. 10 for regular access and 20 for use of the massage chairs which are amazing, you can bring a guest, hydro massage beds which eh I don't really see the benefit other than a bit of a butt massage, and tanning beds I guess they have updated bulbs and a standing bed. So for 20 a month the perks are def worth it. The staff is usually very friendly, helpful, and make sure the place is clean. Now for the 2 stars rating; the weight range only goes to 75, the only free-weights are dumbbells, there is a single pull-up bar, only one dip stand, no weight belts, no chalk, and most of all when the owners are around they can a pain as the nit pick attire unlike all other gyms you pay for. I have been lifting for a little over ten years and have been to maybe a over a hundred gyms this one does the job to stay fit and tone not much is there for a body builder or group activities. read more
