Are you visiting the area and need a place to workout? I'm from the bay area and belong to 24 hour fitness and Crunch. I am Always up early to start my day so it's really hard not having a place to workout during the early hours. I called and spoke to Brandon. He told me I was able to get a weekly pass (which can be upgraded to monthly in the area I'm from) and allowed to workout early morning like at 3! The sign up was easy and Tyler helped get me and out with ease. I definitely recommend this place! For anyone trans needing a place that is safe I approve this place as I am also trans. We came here as a guest. The manager was really nice. I think his name was Justin. He welcomed us in and showed us around. We saw him cleaning up the gym during our workout. The gym was clean. I did see a trainer there (wearing a hat with long hair) and it was disappointing to see him eating snacks while training someone. He didn't look like he cared how his client was doing. He stopped to talk with someone for a while as she was waiting for him, watched the TV screen while she was working out then kept going back to get more snacks. Can't even give this place a try because of the shady way they won't supply any sort of pricing for any of their services until you visit the facility - I emailed them and asked and only got a reply that I would have to visit the facility for any pricing and to see what they offer. Do a search for gyms in SLO and not only do you get a huge list for any type of gym you want, but you also get businesses that are transparent about costs and membership packages. And I'm no stranger to paying a premium for a good gym. Why are they hiding as if their premiums are so high for so little that you have to step foot in the facility so they can have the best chance to snag your sign-up. Whether that's true or not, that is what they put off. read more

Do NOT depend on any financial assistance if you're a senior citizen with Silver Sneakers, Renew Active or similar program. I joined under a 2 year membership with the understanding this gym would accept Renew Active when I was qualified. Turns out the owner decided to stop accepting these programs! So, can't cancel my membership because of the two year contract I signed. Today I visited their office to cancel my membership because of an unexpected move back to the Central Valley. Toni emails me another denial as again, I need to prove my new address is more than 25 miles distance from their nearest Anytime Fitness. I failed to do my due diligence in finding a new gym when I moved into the area. Shame on me! Don't make my mistake. They want my money, nothing less than all of my money at $50 per month until this September. I cannot recommend this facility when money is the overall driving force in their business. read more

We took classes and personal training. New staff kicked us out. They stated we were not a good fit for this gym. I'm sure this wouldn't have happened . If we were blond hair and green eyes. The gym has good fitness equipment, weight machines, free weight options, and a large interval cardio/workout area. Manager Duran is very friendly and welcoming. They took all the silver sneakers away from seniors, and when, after being a member there for over a year, I was trying to go there one day, because the gym, I usually go to was closed due to certain circumstances and I went and asked the guy who I've known for over a year if I could get just a pass for one day he said yeah for $19.95 and I did "you've got to be kidding" and I said congratulations on your promotion. I don't agree with what you're trying to tell me you've already runoff all the senior citizens and now you won't even give a one day somebody was a member for over a year I'll pass it's not very user-friendly. read more

The worst gym on the coast! A mix between a Walmart and a dollar tree. Completely disappointed with my membership. Mold in the showers, cheap broken equipment, it's a complete joke. If you go in after hours there's always some one locked in the bathroom doing who knows what for hours. Management does not care about the homeless problem at all. Reply to Anytime Fitness business owner's response: My mask was on. Feel free to check the camera footage. I put it below my nose for a brief moment while I was doing tricep pulldowns because the wet mask was collapsing into my mouth and I couldn't breath adequately during the exercise. The camera footage will show that too. Don't insult my intelligence with your response about having to wear a mask at all times, because I was wearing it. We cancelled our memberships that morning. Review: Don't waste your time and money. Go to SLO to workout. The Smith machine safety pin was assembled wrong and was unsafe for over 2 years. I had to complain several times before they fixed it. Cable weights were sticking to the guide rods and I had to complain multiple times for weeks for the staff to properly maintain the cable plates guide rods. Elbow pads on the vertical knee raise/dip station has several large cracks in the upholstery. Hip thruster bands hook is bent. They asked me to update my billing info and I went in two different times when it was supposed to be staffed and no one was there. They allowed another member to call and obtain my account information over the phone. I always re-racked weights left on the floor and on bars, constantly organized all the attachment racks, always wiped down the equipment, pretty much always left the gym better than the way I found it. Its awesome they asked me to leave because I wouldn't wear my mask over my nose because it was drenched in sweat and I had a hard time breathing through a sweat soaked cloth mask. Their loyalty is to the few crybabies and not the members that make the gym a safer place for everyone else. read more

Anytime Fitness is a great gym. Tony the trainer is wonderful. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and wonderful to work with. Brandan the club manager is also great to work with and cares about the health and safety of the clientele. The equipment is excellent, new and clean. Greedy wins, again. This owner has dropped insurance coverage for seniors through Silver & Fit, which is a guaranteed payment by my insurance, in favor of his own profit margin. It wasn't like insurance paid nothing. Just too little, in his mind. Seniors don't want a free ride, but sometimes a little help from a local business would be nice. So if you're a senior, go elsewhere. If you believe seniors should be given some slack, go elsewhere. If you think this owner will get old too, and you hope he doesn't suffer at the hands of a greedy business owner like himself some day, send a message by taking your business elsewhere. Or just go elsewhere if you think doing the right thing is more important than raking in the bucks. read more

I've visited this location a few times and like it for the most part. They have really nice bathrooms and a shower squeegee and a water bottle station vs basic water fountains, which is great. The facility is clean overall. The only downsides are that the purple mat/carpet is a little uncomfortable to the touch if you're foam rolling or doing various other things that don't necessarily work well with a black mat underneath. Also, those particular type of black mats are incredibly hard to clean with the wet wipes. They don't slide over that material well. If you are able to wipe it, you'll notice the wipe turns black from all of the dirt on them. Also, there is only one stairclimber. It wold be great to see a second one in there. ;) read more

POST MANAGEMENT REPLY UPDATE: The manager is lying in his reply. I was still billed on April 15th, 4 weeks into the shutdown after having paid for a full month on March 15th and only getting to use the gym for 4 days. This was after all accounts were supposed to be frozen. Also- I was never notified about my account being past due, as were lots of other members! ORIGINAL REVIEW: What makes this gym deserving of a single star, at best, is their business practices. When you sign up, you are forced into a recurring payment plan that pulls membership fees directly from your checking account, along with a contract where you basically sign away your consumer rights and the keys to your finances. The contract that you sign to join an Anytime Fitness is designed to give them the right the extract every last dollar that they possibly can under the law, regardless of the morality and logic (or lack thereof) behind it. At the time of signing up, I was told that I could freeze the account at any time, as long as I still fulfilled the total 24 months of the contract. Now, I didn't think this would be an issue because I was intending to be a member for 2 years when I signed up in fall 2018. My wife signed onto my account as a month-to-month member. Then Corona Virus came along. Right around the middle of March, we were told by the former manager (who is a great guy and mentioned in other reviews) informed us that our accounts would be frozen. However come April 15th, my checking account was billed by the billing company. I reversed this payment with my bank, then contacted ABC Solutions, the billing service for Anytime Fitness. They instructed me to send them an email instructing them to freeze my account until further notice, which I did. Based on those interactions, and the fact that dealing with the Morro Bay location in person was impossible, I was under the impression that my account was frozen until I decided to unfreeze it. Which I fully intended to do, along with living and paying out the terms of my contract, once it was deemed safe and I was ready to return. Come June, there was a brief period where gyms were allowed to open again. This is when AFMB decided to unfreeze all accounts and start charging monthly fees again, without notification or consent. They claim that they sent out a newsletter that alerted customers about this, although I never received it. I've searched my email and I have no record of them emailing me during the lockdown, despite receiving emails from them at other times, indicating that those newsletters were not routed to my junk mail. After being open for a short time, they were forced to shut down again for about 6 weeks until late August. Yet we were still being billed. Fast forward to earlier this week, when I receive a phone call from a collections agency demanding payment for our past due accounts. NOT ONCE have we received a single phone call, email, or letter regarding the past due status of our account from AFMB. We had no idea that AFMB was trying to bill us. All it would've taken was a single phone call for us to resolve this issue. The manager told me that he has ~100 accounts that are in similar state, yet there was no time to reach out to them. He also told me that the interim manager received notifications about past due accounts that are intended to get the manager to contact those customers, and that he simply hit a button that ignored and delayed those notifications!!! So, with that knowledge, shouldn't that make it an even bigger priority for those managers to try to contact those customers and give them a chance to resolve their accounts before throwing them to the wolves, i.e. collections agencies?! Common sense would dictate that, but no. That's not how they operate. Anytime Fitness management will simply fallback on the contract they force you to sign in order to be a member, and they will extract every dollar possible that they can from you before kicking you to the curb. I did my best to work with them respectfully and cordially, and they are still hanging me out to dry and refusing to reduce the amount that the collections agency, that is located in Canada on Eastern time and doesn't answer their phone after Pacific lunchtime, is now extorting from me. That also includes collections fees that could have been avoided HAD THEY SIMPLY REACHED OUT TO ME PERSONALLY. AFMB cannot even provide an itemized account summary that lists what charges I am late on, and why the amount being extorted from me is what they say it is. Which probably includes fees for the 6 weeks that they were shutdown in July/August. read more

This is the best gym. Period. I have been to many different gyms all over the country - I think I have found my favorite. Duran, the manager is on point and Anytime Fitness Morro Bay is one of the cleanest gyms I have ever been to. The machines are new and well taken care of. Good gym. Small but staff is nice, equipment is maintained, air conditioning works well. The other gym down the street never ran theirs and it was always foul air inside, especially from other members who didn't believe in personal hygiene. Plus that gym also was filthy and bathrooms were disgusting. Here, people are friendly. It may look small but you can do a lot with the equipment. Cardio is very nice. Kept up. The staff is always glad to answer questions. It would be nice to have a larger facility. Maybe in time but for now, no complaints. You can do a lot here. Should have joined sooner and not wasted my time and money with the competing, run down one that should be comdemned. Glad I'm here now. I enjoy coming To Anytime. I continue to be impressed and enjoy this gym since my last review. Duran (gym manager) has been instrumental in taking a keen interest in my journey and encourages me along the way (has even kicked my butt a couple times in joint workouts. He has an amazing crew of personal trainers and everyone is so friendly and helpful. I love a 24 hour gym because if I am ever having a sleepless night (like the other day i was up at 345am, and I came to the gym). No matter what time of day or what day, as intimate as this gym is, I never have had a problem with overcrowding. It is spotless clean and smells fresh, which with my allergies is a great relief. Everyone working out here is respectful of each other, cleans the machines after each use, and even when we see each other in the community, encourage each other. It is a great place with free weights, hand weights, fitness classes, top-notch machines and with much variety. I am so thankful to Duran and all at Anytime Fitness for their commitment to everyones success, especially mine! read more

I have been looking for a new gym since my old one closed. I thought that Anytime Fitness would be a good fit since it's local. I made an appointment at 5:40 on a Thursday, and on the day of my appointment I got a text message asking for me to confirm... so I did. I get there 15 minutes early, and no one is there. I wait until my appointment time and no one shows up. I wait an additional 15 minutes, still no one and after waiting for 30 minutes I left. For anyone looking for a gym with a team that values your time... look elsewhere. read more

This gym is amazing! I have been a member for over a year now and have had nothing but great experiences. I came from another local gym because I was sick of waiting for machines and the dated facility. I don't have either of those issues here! They keep this location spotless, the staff is wonderful, and the private bathrooms with showers were great if I didn't have time to run home after a workout. My husband and I went on a road trip with our little baby down to Morro Bay. I asked the front desk person at our hotel if there was a hotel gym...she said no, but suggested that I check out the new Anytime Fitness in town. What a great club! It's small (which I love...less intimidating), but definitely had everything I needed. Brand new cardio equipment (with touchscreens that had all these cool features like Hulu and Netflix)....a variety of strength equipment (machines and free weights)...and a huge open space area. Super clean too. I talked to Hannah and she was so cool and friendly. She was the assistant manager, but also a personal trainer. If I lived in Morro Bay I would totally join this club and I'd work with Hannah to help me get off the last 5lbs of baby weight! Check it out...highly recommend! read more

I've been a member of AF for over a year and love my time in the gym. The staff is friendly and helpful and the Personal Trainers all call me by my first name, how awesome is that? The Personal Trainers really do help clients achieve their fitness potential. When I first joined AF I couldn't walk the front nine at Morro Bay GC without being extremely short of breath. I had Hannah as my Personal Trainer and am stronger more flexible and my cardio has improved. I recently ran in the Turkey Trot with the AF group & ran from AF to the Rock without stopping, that really amazed me. I'm 68 years old and I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life. read more
