The Santa Fe location of Planet Fitness proved very disappointing to our family. The biling practices are not right, auto-drafting our membership fee a week after we cancelled membership and included 2 extra fees; forcing us to pay $75 for a month we didn't want and already cancelled. When we called to talk to management about it, the manager was blatantly rude & condescending, interrupting to tell us our questions were too long, and saying he didn't have time to listen or help because he was too busy. It seems staff are quick to take money and fees from young inexperienced teenagers but not so quick to provide customer service for a parent with questions; no care toward customer satisfaction in general. Due to the very unhelpful management, we can not recommend this location. read more

Bad Experience. The staff is cool, the equipment is up to date even though there is no squat or bench press, only smith machines. The bathrooms are horrendous, black mold on the ceiling, terrible smells and showers are boiling hot with no temp control. ive been a gym goer for 20+ years and just stay away from this PF. read more

Sometimes, we are not in charge of our own destiny. Fate dictates what we must do. Whether directly or indirectly, it forces our hands one way or the other. What's tricky about that arrangement is that you must live with the results and the consequences of actions over which you might not have had any control. Under such circumstances I arrived at Planet Fitness Santa Fe. I'm in Santa Fe for work, not leisure, and having to quit my regular gym was not my choice. It so happens that LA Fitness doesn't have a branch in the city. As any other human being who's found pleasure and relaxation in pain (wink! wink!), I decided I needed to find a replacement as soon as possible and that's how I entered through Planet Fitness' doors. As any other TV watching individual, I was keenly aware of the existence of the brand, but had never actually taken the time to compare it with my regular gym. As implied earlier, I was satisfied with my iron paradise. It provided everything I needed for my iron therapy and a bit more. So I was concerned to say the least when I realized I couldn't have the same amenities here. All those worries soon dissipated when I was introduced to this gym. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by Cammy, who became my guide to Planet Fitness. She explained the different levels of membership, one which starts at $10 (and covers regular gym entry), and the Black Card Membership level which clocks in at $21 or so, but which gives you access to HydroMassage beds, Massage Chairs, and Tanning beds (this last one I'll never use since God blessed me with a nature tan), but the others come quite handy, specially after a good workout. My limited experience so far has been a great one. People are friendly. The staff is great. Cammy and Nick, are on top of their game every time I'm there, and the equipment is kept clean and operational at all times. People are relaxed, and seem to enjoy their workouts. As Cammy pointed out my first day, Planet Fitness is a judgement free zone. Overall, I would definitely recommend this Planet Fitness Location. They have proven to be great ambassadors to the Planet fitness brand. read more

The club is ok--good equipment, often crowded. WARNING: they make it very difficult to cancel a membership. It cannot be done online, there is a $58 fee for cancelling before the membership term, you have to physically visit the facility, and you have to cancel before the 25th of the month to avoid additional monthly fee. PRO: Seemed clean, workers were friendly. Shower water was hot and good water pressure. Each shower stall had its own private vestibule for changing, with a stool and hook for keeping your things nearby. One of my best on-the-road showers so far. Cardio machine city! Generally, I attend the one in Arlington, Texas 5-6 days a week at home. On a trip to Santa Fe, I didn't want to throw away my progress for a week, so I was delighted to find that there was one not too far from my hotel room (10 minute jog, at least). Nestled near Smith's Grocery Store, this Planet Fitness is likely very convenient for everyone. By search, it was the only one I found in Santa Fe (ut i didn't search hard). The jog there and back each day was a beautiful sight. Highly suggest it. Upon walking in, the guy at the desk was not very nice. Quite the opposite of the Judgement Free Zone. He wouldn't even speak to me, upon entry or exit, though he spent a good 20 minutes talking to super fit yoga shorts girls. All I said was, "How's it going, buddy?" and "Hey, take care." on my way out. Walking in and straight ahead, you get a bit of cardio machines and all of the usual strength training stuff (though they lacked a couple of machines that I often use). Straight ahead to the right is the 30 minute workout zone that they always have. To the far right is TONS AND TONS of cardio machines, treadmills most specifically. They all face a window that overlooks the shopping center. For this reason, the strength training area was very crowded at 5AM. However, it was very very clean. The thing I did not like was the absurd amount of personal training going on (I at least saw 5 groups being led by a personal trainer not affiliated with PF classes) out in the open, lewd comments to the ladies and the way in which everyone that was in the crowded strength training area was perpetually in everyone's space. I got approached by one guy too, saying "Hey, I train people here all the time and I can get you swoll." No thanks. Ultimately, this is just not what I am used to from Planet Fitness. At the end of the day, it got the job done for me. However, if this were my home, I might look for a more expansive location that holds true to the Planet Fitness proclamations. read more

I joined this gym based solely upon their "Planet Fitness 30min Express" room, which was pushed hard by the person giving me a tour during my visit to tour their gym. Great concept, one they also prominently promote/brag about in their marketing videos. The problem is its all marketing hype because it is used and abused by members who disregard the purpose of using the room by entering the room and inserting themselves into the middle of the numbered machines within the circuit currently being used by others. Further, staff takes ZERO effort to do anything about this. The result is you are finishing your last set on a machine within the allotted timeframe and areabout to progress to the next machine when a random person enters the room and decides they are going to ignore your presence, your position within the circuit, and simply campout on the piece of equipment you were moving to. I say camp out because its always someone who does not care ANYTHING about the "30min. Express Workout" and hangs out on the station for more than several minutes. In fact, it seems to be a party room for some and others a place to simply sit (on a machine) and use to then text on their phone for quite some time rather than doing even one set or to occupy for several minutes between sets while texting. I have complained to the front desk and the person there blew me off and did nothing, literally shrugging their shoulders. I tried complaining via email. All attempts have produced zero results in changing the behavior that makes the 30min express a joke. The people on staff simply cannot be bothered to actually police the area for offenders, in effect standing up for the violators and ignoring their own gym rules in the process. I have never once witness staff actually entering the room to ask anyone how its going. Want to make a good gym for people? Simply do what you say you are going to do, provide what you say you provide when someone signs on as a customer. read more

I am here on business for a couple days and had this afternoon free so I wanted to work out. Traveling and eating right is challenging. I called and talked to Cami, she knows her stuff and was super friendly and helpful. When I arrived she was working the counter and remembered my call and got me taken care of right away. I work out at a gym in CA (24 hr fitness). Boy am I surprised at this facility it's modern, clean, laid out with thought, and just a better gym than mine at home. I'll be back when I travel to Santa Fe. I can't say enough great things about this gym. 5/5 stars read more

Planet fitness has always been shitty, but now they crossed a new low. They require masks even when you're working out. I agree with using masks when you first walk in, but how are you supposed to run cardio with a cloth in front of your nose? Everybody already makes fun of Planet Fitness people, and now they're going to ridicule Planet Fitness people even more because they will look stupid working out. At this point I have to run my cardio in the parking lot outside because the Nazis in this gym won't let you run without a mask on. This will be my last month subscribing to this "gym." read more

DO NOT go to any Planet Fitness if you actually want to workout. They require a mask at all times even while performing cardio. My mask was soaked in sweat 1.5 miles into my 6.5 mile run and it was slipping because of this. I was harassed multiple times by staff members to pull it up which lasted all of 60 seconds because, crazy as it sounds I sweat when I run. Add to this that every time I took a breath when the mask was up the entire thing was sucked against my face and I felt like I had a plastic bag over my head while at the same time inhaling my sweat. The requirement to wear a mask on the cardio machines doesn't even make sense given the fact that every other machine is closed down so no one is within 6 feet. The large woman at the front desk was also quite rude, I could clearly see why she does not understand what it is like to workout with a mask. I assume this is the same woman, Sandra, who has multiple complaints against her in the other reviews. Why is she still employed when she is clearly an issue?? I also noted a few other members had their masks below their noses and nothing was said to them. The entire experience was miserable and I will never recommend or join a Planet Fitness due to their asinine and illogical rules. No other gym I have used during this pandemic requires a mask (and I am a regular gym goer). Plenty of other gyms that allow for a good workout AND a friendly staff. read more

Overall the Santa Fe gym is pretty good. I find the people who work there are very friendly and the place is clean. On the down side; So many people wearing very heavy perfume which kills my nose and sets off allergies. It's horrible to be on a treadmill having a great workout and then someone gets on the machine next to you smelling like an Avon factory. Not enough upright bikes, too many recumbent ones. I often have to wait to get on a bike and I can't afford to waste time waiting. I want to go in, work out, and get out of there. I like the fact that it's clean, but machines don't need to be wiped clean after every single person uses one. Way too much paper is wasted. The wipe down policy would be better if it was up to the discretion of the person getting on the machine, unless you were definitely sweaty and dripping your sweat on the machine, which in that case would be a courtesy to the next person. A lot of machines get clogged up by people lounging too long or talking to other people between sets when there are people waiting to use the machines. This place is way to busy after 5pm to allow for that. read more

The WORST Planet Fitness I have ever been to. Upon walking in we were immediately met with resistance. My girlfriend is a Black Card member and we've been road tripping for close to 3 weeks. We always find Planet Fitnesses along our route so that we can stay on track with our routines. We have visited DOZENS of locations throughout the country and have never had an issue. The staff present today were completely incompetent and rude. The girl assisting us had issues locating my girlfriends account (we have to use her phone number as her bar code). When we finally were allowed in we went back to the locker room to set our things down and a woman even commented on how " they finally let us in". We walked out of the locker rooms and a woman (I'm assuming is the manager) called me back over to the front desk to tell me I'm not allowed to be in here because of my footwear. She commented boots aren't allowed on the floor and that I'd have to leave or get new shoes. This is the first time I've ever been approached about my boots; I was completely unaware this was a rule. Again, we've travelled to various locations and no one has ever made me leave because of my footwear. We felt very unwelcome and made to feel uncomfortable in an environment which is supposed to be for ANYONE. Update: Now that I've read other reviews of this location elsewhere it's very apparent that the assistant manager is blatantly resistant to specific individuals. read more

The receptionist was very rude when I spoke to her. She had an attitude towards me when I wanted to be checked in by my phone number, since I had no cell service in that area to use the app. She refuse to help me get checked in. Said I had to use the app or I can't be checked in. Another customer came in right after we spoke and she just completely ignore me from then on. I had to ask another employee to assist me. This is a great gym for the price! $21.00 a month..and I can always bring a guest (no charge) Which is a great way to actually get me there. The equipment is well-maintained and the staff is no nonsense and pleasant. (400 S. Downtown SLC). Even the locker rooms seem to get the attention that they need. Came here as a black card guest from El Paso. This Planet fitness wouldn't allow my guest in because she didn't have an ID with her. A grown adult guest with a grown adult member. I have never ever had my guests require an ID at any of my 3 El Paso locations and therefore didn't require my guest to bring one with her. MY teenagers don't have IDs. What is the plan for bringing in guests without drivers licenses? Contacted the "team lead" and he told me I would need their birth certificates!! Yah. I carry those with me everywhere. Calling corporate PF on this. I'm a black card guest and was unable to work out because my guest didn't meet some local policy. If you are attending this PF with a guest... from somewhere else, ensure that everyone in your party brings ID or they won't let you in. Decent gym but dishonest policies. I tried out the gym for a day and decided that I would get a full year membership. It is not as nice as some of the other gyms in the area but the convenience and price made up for it. I singed up online fearing that if I did it in person they would ask me tell them personal info out loud. (The sign-in/up area is not very private). When signing up I was elated to see that I was able to choose between a bank account and a debit card for monthly fees. Visa bank cards provide that little bit of extra security. The next day, I happily headed for the gym ready get my membership card and workout. Upon checkin, I was told they needed my bank account number and routing number. I informed the staff member that they did not as I already signed up online with a card. She informed me that this branch does not accept cards. 1. In 2018, what kind of company does not accept cards? 2. How is corporate and a local franchise on such different pages? 3. If you fail to meet corporate policy, why allow them to sign up members on the corporate site? I believe strongly that a company should be honest, transparent, and look out for the good of customers. Using bank accounts does not look out for the safety of customers because Visa provides a bit more protection and assurance that lost information will not negatively affect you. Changing contractual expectations from corporate to local is not honest or transparent. I have canceled my membership and will gladly pay more for honesty and a customer first focus. read more

I have been a planet fitness member for about eight years or so, my membership fees are paid on time automatically through American Express every month. I used Amex because its autopay feature for memberships or subscriptions continues uninterrupted if the card is lost, stollen, or expired. Today (03/28/2022) I was denied gym access, although my membership is current with most recent membership dues paid (03/17/2022) not because my membership wasn't active, but because my Amex card on file was expired and that I didn't have checking account set up as a primary source of payment. I tried explaining that this is how my account was setup when I first enrolled, I was told that it wasn't done correctly and if I want to work out today, I must update my account with a checking account and current credit card. I advised the manager that I didn't have my checking information handy now and will bring it on my next visit. The manager insisted that I am not allowed to work out until my account is updated, although he confirmed that my membership is current. It was very unprofessional and embarrassing to be treated in this manner. I decided to cancel my membership on the spot, I felt humiliated and disgusted, I supported this local Planet Fitness during hardships of COVID-19 and did not stop my membership payment when the gym was closed, and as a physician in the community I encouraged my patients to start using it and that it was safe when it finally opened. I guess No Good Deed Goes Unpunished. Because of poor customer service at Santa Fe, NM location I will not recommend this facility to anyone anymore. read more

MANY people angered and outraged at "Sandra's" etiquette and employee response to a friend of mines daughter having a seizure within the establishment. This woman's daughter was known to have seizures and she knew how to help and assess her , while Sandra was rude and screamed at her threatening to revoke her membership because she didn't need an ambulance and then threatened to get physically violent , causing more panic and anxiety in the situation for my friends daughter. And then LIED about her behavior to police and accused my friend of being rude and yelling at her. Will not return. Sincerely , please fire your shitty employee.
