Was really spoiled by my previous experience with the planet fitness in Anderson - this location is much smaller and doesn't have newer features like a water bottle fill-up station. Several of the weight machines have padding that is busted, which makes them uncomfortable to use. It is also a very busy location, so I had to wait to use nearly every weight machine that was part of my routine (like only one back extenstion, only one for rear deltoids, etc.). There are free weights but not a lot of room to use them. I think this place is busy enough that they really ought to expand into another bigger, newer location. On the positive side, it is a really cheap gym option. The simple membership is $10/month and $39.99/year, with the "black card" membership at $22/month (includes things like access to planet fitness Nationwide, use of tanning beds and massage chairs, half off drinks, etc.). If you are looking for a gym membership on a budget, this is a good option. read more

I am a Black Card member and have visited this gym many times, but today's encounter was extremely disappointing due to unprofessional behavior from the manager, Myke Wall, and a clear lack of consistent customer service. The manager approached us in a rude manner regarding the gym's "no bags on the floor" policy. I FULLY understand and respect the gym's rule. However, immediately after speaking to me, the same manager proceeded to check in and allow multiple other members to enter the gym floor with their bags. I have visited this location MULTIPLE times with the SAM bag and never encountered an issue until now. The inconsistency in enforcement is unacceptable and gives the impression that certain members are singled out while others are not held to the same standard. I expect fairness and professionalism from any business I choose to support. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience here. Based on the manager's conduct and the lack of consistent, respectful customer service, I will no longer continue my membership at this location. read more

Pretty good experience. Just moved to the area and I'm enjoying this location. The gym is spacious with ample workout equipment. Everything's spaced out pretty well and the staff is pretty cool. I haven't had much interaction with them but they seem like they are ready to assist if needed. I usually go early or late at night. Great gym. Very clean and friendly staff! Lots of equipment to choose from and great workouts! Love how it's very affordable.

This location in particular is the most filthy place I've ever seen. There is dirt and dust all over the gym itself, not to mention the tanning rooms and massage rooms that are covered in dust and trash from previous users. I only choose this location because it is the closest to my house and they are national. This particular one is the dirtiest one I have been to. If I had another choice, that would be great. The locker rooms are always gross and nasty. Now a shower doesn't work and probably will take as long a the leg machine to get fixed, which is still out of order from over a month ago when I joined. Good thing about it is that that is not the only location and others are a lot cleaner than this one. Half the paper towel dispensers work properly. You spend more time trying to get paper towel out of dispenser than an actual exercise, it's an excercise itself. I use to go here a few years back and it was top notch. Great customer service and great environment. All that has went down hill. It is sad to see a newer place look older than some of its older locations. I guess they pay for customer service to be on the phone (texting, watching videos) rather than taking care of the business. Just to be clear I am rating this planet fitness 4 stars because of one particular employee named Zach! He ALWAYS has an amazing attitude and so kind! He stays busy making sure everything is clean and up to par he NEVER rolls his eyes or gives short answers when asked simple normal human being questions. I truly hope he has a higher position because all of the employees should look up to him! I have always struggled with pushing myself to get into the gym and he just brings such a positive vibe into the atmosphere and makes going enjoyable and want to keep going due to his positive motivation! They demanded my bank account information. I was very reluctant to give it because of problems I've had with other companies. So I gave them an account that I rarely use and leave only enough in it to cover Planet Fitness. Then overdrew my account and cost me $36 in fees. No apologies, no fixing it. I've been a member here since they opened a little over two years ago. I'm usually a middle of the night visitor - I work second shift so it's not unusual for me to show up between 1 and 3 a.m. I can put up with the constant employee turnover as I realize it's a minimum wage job. That said, the cleanliness of this place has gone downhill in the past several months, and lately the night shift has been a place for the employees to hang out with their buddies, and somehow manage to, among the five or six of them, make more noise than I've experienced in this gym when it's packed at 1 p.m. I know a gym isn't supposed to be a quiet place, per se, but I come here to relax and many nights as of late it's been a much less than relaxing experience. Additionally, as of late I will be running on the treadmill and notice an employee comes over and starts cleaning the sides of the treadmill WHILE I'M RUNNING. This is extremely dangerous - if his towel gets caught in the belt, I'm going to go flying and get hurt. I work a physical job - I can't afford to be hurt and be out of work. Certainly the guy could afford to wait until I'm done with my hour on the treadmill. That's not going to hurt anything. My other gripe with this location comes when I visit during the day, and the employees insist on taking your keys or phone from you to scan your ID themselves. My contract was terminated bc I asked the EMPLOYEE why he called my mom terrible names. He told his boss that I said things to him and I got kicked out. What sense does that make? He verbally attacks my mom and then I get terminated? If you like to be mistreated by staff please go to this planet fitness. The regional will pretend like he called you but obviously doesn't know how to handle confrontation. I was there for almost 3 years and that guy has been there for 3 months. I recently cancelled my membership with this company and although there were some bumps along the way this specific location went the extra mile and not only took care of everything for me but also called to follow up with me about my problems and to update me on my refund. If you're looking for a good gym they're the ones to go to. Yesterday I complained to the front desk about how a man there had made me extremely uncomfortable and how he openly admitted to watching me while I workout but they told me they've already "had multiple complaints about him being creepy and taking pictures of other people." So I said "....okay so what are y'all going to do about that?" And they told me "we will look into it" apparently they've "talked to him before." Like are you actually kidding me? I left during my workout because this man made me THAT uncomfortable. So I spoke to Planet fitness again this morning. It was the general manager. I was told there was "no proof" of him harassing me and that he said he "didn't mean any harm by it." So he gets to keep his membership and has one more "chance." Aka, even though he's been caught harassing other women, he gets to harass ONE more before his membership is canceled. I wish this was a joke. I was also told if I wanted to cancel I could go right ahead. Oh trust me, I did. I also let them know that this guy breaks every single planet fitness "rule." He slams weights, he grunts obnoxiously loud & he doesn't wipe down ANY equipment. But they are willing to let go of me as a member when I 1) don't slam weights 2) wipe down all my equipment 3) dont grunt and 4) I don't sexually harass people in there . They literally don't care lol. I didn't expect much more from Planet Fitness anyways, but it just goes to show their morals and values. That they don't listen to multiple women who feel harassed. Can't fit my workout into my routine with their new hours. Love the gym. But I'm stuck paying for the membership without the ability to use the gym until they return to the hours they promised in the membership agreement. It would be less frustrating if they thought it was necessary to have someone up front whilst open, but in the beforetime they just had you scan to get the door open so ‍. I've been a member for a year now. I love that it's 24/7, has a ton of machines, is clean and well-run. Whenever I have a question, it always gets answered. If the person I ask doesn't know, they find someone who can help. All the workers are welcoming and their trainers are excellent. It's a bit busy - which I'm sure is a reflection of how much folks like the place - but if you can come at odd times, you pretty much have the place to yourself (e.g. after midnight!). (Note - one of the yelp questions is "does it have gender neutral bathrooms?" Thank God... No, it doesn't! read more

I've been a member since 2019 and in the past several months the simpsonville location has really gone down hill. The staff is friendly but the facility is not as clean as it used to be, the cleaning stations are always empty or broken and the black card area is always having problems. Apparently the gym rules are just for wall decoration because nothing is being enforce, even after you complain to the front desk. Currently only 1 of the 2 massage chairs work and really there should be more than 2 in the first place. Only 1 of the 4 hydrobeds is working at any given time. When they are maintenanced they don't even last a full day before breaking again. What's the point in paying extra for the black card if I can't ever use the amenities because they are broken or have a long wait because only 1 works and several people are ahead of you. Also, this past week there were 8 TV not working. Personally I don't usually watch them but it's just another example of how corporate just doesn't seem to give a damn about this location. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP HERE OR AT ANY OTHER PLANET FITNESS!!!! I moved to Atlanta and they told me I couldn't cancel online or over the phone, which is archaic to begin with. They told me I had to either come to that specific branch to cancel (what if I had moved to California???) or I could write a letter to that specific branch for cancellation (the obvious choice). Come to find out, an entire year later (yes, I never checked that they were still charging me because I thought for sure they would have taken care of it) THEY HAVE STILL BEEN CHARGING ME FOR MEMBERSHIP! They are not helpful. They will literally continue to make you pay in any way they can and are not helpful at all. The difficulty of cancelling your membership with them makes it not worth it to start a membership to begin with. Check cancellation policies beforehand and go with a fitness club that won't twist your arm to get out of a deal. read more

I became a member of this Planet Fitness right when they opened. I was faithful in going to work out a lot and loved it while I was going. But then life had gotten a little crazy and I didn't go to the gym for almost a year. My husband and I decided to go one night to try and get back into the routine of things. I guess when a member scans their card the workers are able to see how many days it's been since they last checked in. Well, when we scanned our card it must have showed that it had been almost a year since my last sign in. The worker at the desk then proceeded to make fun of me for how long it had been since my last visit. Then he checked my husband's and made fun of him as well. We did not appreciate that. Planet Fitness claims to be a "judgement free zone" but we were being judged hard that night. What's it to you if I don't come for a long time? They're still taking $20 bucks out of my account each month. I have since cancelled my membership because I don't want to have to deal with that every time I check in to the gym. read more

If I could give this location a lower rating I WOULD!! BEWARE, if you call to find out information, be prepared to hear several different answers. The employees don't know what they are talking about. I called to terminate my membership and was told I would be charged a fee if I cancelled before a certain month. I was in an open contract. The second time I called, I was told I could have canceled and when I explained what I was told previously the employee stated that no one there would have said that. When I asked for the managers name she informed me he was going to tell me the same thing. I'm not sure which is worse. The lack of proper training or the poor communication. I have been denied a refund from the date I tried to cancel because evidently I should have read my contract instead of just relying on what I was told by an employee. I have not visited any other locations, but if the customer service is the same I don't see how they can stay in business. I even had the record of the call from my phone to offer as proof(since it was insinuated that I made the story up) and management still did not want to offer a reasonable solution. My CAR was recently STOLEN from this location (11/18/17). Someone took my keys off the key rack and drove away with my car. I called the police and they requested the footage from the camera, but of course the camera was not directed on the key rack at all! This would have helped the police tremendously because there was only a handful of people in the gym (about 10). Even the employees said this has happen several times before, but management does not listen or do anything about it. I spoke with the manager of PF and he pointed to the sign (leave keys on rack at your own risk) and said they do not own the building and putting cameras outside would be up to the landlord, NOT THEM!!! But they would make them aware of what happened. The manager did tell me I can buy a lock from them and lock up my keys, but how do I put a car in a locker to keep it safe? Called corp office and they directed me to the SAME local manager (it's a franchise, so it's not their responsibility). This just shows how much they care about there customers. I only joined the gym because it's cheap, but everyone knows you get what you pay for. I would rather pay $50+/m (elsewhere) and have a peace of mind, than pay $10/m and have my valuables stolen. After sharing this story with others, I found out someone had their car windows busted and purse stolen (same location). But since no cameras, anyone can get away with doing whatever they want! So I am making everyone aware, KEEP YOUR KEYS WITH YOU AND YOUR CAR IN PLAIN SITE AT ALL TIMES!!!
