Honestly this is one of the best planet fitnesses I've been to in NY. People put back their weights after they're done. The machines worked. They had a hack squat machine which is rare for a PF. The locker room was clean and people genuinely looked like they were enjoying themselves. Granted I went at 2pm so maybe that is low traffic time. But if I lived closer I would def go here on the regular. I normally stay away from PF's in the nyc area because 8 times out of 10 there's always something weird happens. Or you can't use equipment because someone has taken all the dumbbells for themselves while commandeering the squat machine. Or a machine is broke or it's super crowded. I was going to this gym for probably 3 to 4 years and I tore my shoulder apart and needed surgery. This was in September when they first contacted planet fitness and asked them to put my membership on hold. I didn't think anything about it until about February when I saw they were still billing me. So I called again and talked to the manager and they said they would handle it. Again, I don't really pay much attention to small reoccurring bills on my account, which has changed now. It's now August of the next year and I still have reoccurring bills. I called the local manager again. They said they would take care of it, and then I asked for a refund of all the months that they had billed me after told them I was going to be at the gym. Several emails back-and-forth and promises, nothing. They are ghosting me and it's really shitty for them to do that. It's trivial money, but it's the whole point of the matter. For this reason, I will slander planet fitness for as long as I live to as many people as I can get to. At this rate my reviews on Google and Yelp see about 25+ million views a month. This gym seems to be more of a hangout spot than a place to workout. People are always often just sitting idle on the strength training machines using their phones-- not working out. People use The 30 min- circuit as a private room to hog machines instead of actually following the rotation & moving to different machines. The staff does nothing but walk around pretending to clean. read more

The gym is nice but sometimes restrooms are pretty unclean. I also want to bring the attention of the manager the fact that sometimes this big guys spend so much time using the same machine and don't allow others to do their workout. Finally, let's hope the manager make sure some young boys, (adolescents) spent time working out and not at the men's room sited or texting or takin pictures. It is very uncomfortable to get naked in and shower in a room full of kids who go to the gym to spent time in the restroom instead of working out. read more

I have gone to this gym 3-days a week for over a year. Always clean. Always friendly staff. However, there are several "regulars" who NEVER wipe down the equipment after they sweat and breathe mask-less on it. There are also the "regulars" who converse so loudly, I can quote them while being all the way on the other side with my earbuds set for world off and at full volume. As a gym, 4-stars. As a place to workout while enjoying your music or even the loud PF music, 1-star. read more

From EVERYTHING I've read at THIS PLANET FITNESS LOCATION- I'd never ever join THIS LOCATION- Even if they gave me 2 years free with NO MONEY DOWN - and said: if you like our free membership after 2 years- then you can pay our relatively cheap monthly membership fees. Have you read their replies to most COMPLAINTS? They reply: Thank you for your kind or thoughtful response. They never mentioned the dozens of NASTY COMPLAINTS about the Management, Service Staff, other staff complaints or the ONGOING MOLD IN THE SHOWERS - going on for over a year. It could be a few years. After reading about so many complaints- dozens snd dozens- I stopped reading. I just moved to the area. This location is the closest to me I've been a member of another location for over 8 years and used other Planet Fitness locations. No complaints. Dozens of Yelp Reviews about this location said they management was extremely rude. One customer was threatened. Another customer called, e-mailed numerous times and gave the name of the person in charge that NEVER replied back to them. During the beginning of COVID - The Planet Fitness I joined stopped billing me. When they finally opened I went there, asked them to cancel my membership which they did instantly. I was never billed again. I will join PLANET FITNESS but NEVER EVER AT THIS LOCATION. MOLD IN SHOWERS FOR A YEAR OR MORE? Nasty MANAGERS AND STAFF. NEVER JOIN THIS LOCATION. I just had the manager at this location THREATEN me regarding contacting corporate to cancel my membership. The exchanges with this manager, Chris, and his subordinate manager, Jose, have been inconsistent, unprofessional and incompetent. I have done everything I needed to do on my end to cancel this membership, right down to sending a cancellation letter by certified mail, and they refuse to take care of their responsibilities and simply grant the refund I was guaranteed through the phone and via VOICEMAIL. When I told Chris that I would contact corporate with my evidence, he THREATENED me...over something that he is supposed to do. I recommend going to a different club. Disturbingly bad customer service and management in the spring valley gym by some dud functionally asocial gym manager named Natalia. Poor manners and arrogance. Always an issue asking for tanning or body enhancement or hydro massagers. Apparently she trains her 18 year old assistants the same way with rudeness and inability to timely provide customer service. Either they are talking or on phones and lack of consistent desire to proactively assist Black card members. It's a cheap gym. If you want to join a gym, but never want to go, I highly recommend this place. Choose a busy time, and all machines will be taken. Don't even think about using the shower here, too, unless fungi and grime are your aphrodisiacs. The parking is a nightmare; you do have the Rockland Bakery aroma to keep you company as you frantically try to remember that you had to park in a different zip code. Also, a lock may not be enough to keep your belongings from disappearing here. On the bright side, the equipment is very diverse for such an inexpensive proposition. The workout area is clean. At $10 a month, you have more equipment that the likes of Equinox, and probably rivaling NYSC or Gold's. That's saying a lot. So, if you work out when others work, or if you want a gym membership just to put a sticker on your car - this is your place. read more

Travelling from out of state and needed a gym membership. Most gyms are focused on sales and fat annual members$hip costs so I was glad to find a place that would sell me a 1 month mebership for a fair price with no set up or cancellation fees. Staff and mgmt are poorly trained underwhelmed and indifferent and the exercise machines are decidedly of the cheaper variety but well maintained. Clean fairly priced and free wifi for $15 a month (as of spring 2017) Again for short-term gym needs the price is right. read more

This is my gym. I'm not thrilled about this, but it does what I need. The price is hard to beat and constantly wins out over any downfalls. Downfalls: *Parking is ridiculous. It's a free-for-all of assholes wedging their Escalades into zones that clearly shouldn't be parked in - and that often impede safe navigation of the parking lot. A friend of mine got in an accident in this parking lot (I, personally, see number of these a year) and when she called her insurance company they were like "Oh...the Planet Fitness parking lot...yeah, we know it." My recommendation is always park in the Laz-E-Boy parking lot on the other side of the building. *The Women's locker room always smells faintly of sewage. It is clean, and they take care of it, but the smell just never leaves. The showers, on the upside, are nice. *A lot of people come here to socialize. Often, they use the machines as places to stand or sit while having a conversation. Feel free to ask them to move. They're jerks. As Geoff G. said, there are, like, 300 cardio machines here. Many are obviously second-hand from another Gym. Some are new. I do miss having newer Precor Machines. There aren't any at this place. No classes. The weight lifting guys keep to themselves and are respectful - just like every gym I've ever been to. There is ample cleaning fluid and paper towels available. TVs are available, but not per-station - they're hanging from the ceiling. An awful lot of them are turned to Fox News for some reason. There is only one water fountain, despite the large population that comes here. Pizza Days and Bagel Mornings are a nice plus. Other plusses include tanning booths and massage chairs, although I never see anyone using them - and I've been going here at least 3x week for three years. If you really want a good place to fuel up before or after, hit the Rockland Bakery Deli for an Egg White on a roll. Delicious! read more

This place is very unsafe - they let anyone in whether they have club ID or not. There is no "swipe card" system. You can just wave at a person at the front desk and you are in. Also - if you still want to go there, you and ten friends could go in on one membership and just memorize the five digit number to be allowed access into the building. The reason I know this is my brother and SEVEN other people had their lockers broken into, car keys stolen and cars ransacked all while they were at the gym. They said this happens often. If something keeps happening and your customers are getting upset, wouldn't you try to change your security measures at the front desk? Just saying... read more

Spring Valley Planet fitness is great! It is due to the staff. They maintain a clean environment and are knowledgeable. The trainers are excellent and always have good advice to help you improve. As Kelly M just posted.... This gym is very inexpensive. There are other better gyms in the area but they are quite $$$$ This gym has pretty much everything you need to get in shape. I do not recommend it for those looking to join a body building completion. But for the regular guy like myself... It is great!!! I pay 1 Dollar a month because my fiance has the main membership and she is paying 19 dollars a month so if we average it out. It is 10 Bux each... Not bad !!! This place is great! It's huge, clean, and the staff is very friendly. The massage chairs are readily available and I never had to wait for a machine to be available because there's plenty. I've been a planet fitness member since 2010 and have used locations all over New York. I've honestly never had any issues and don't really understand why people are anti planet fitness. A lot is said about PF. It's a very un-inspiring place with a bunch of silly rules which scares the dedicated athletes away. Today another rule was added to my surprise. There is no jump roping allowed. Are you kidding me??? I used PF as a cheap option to do some accessary work beside doing crossfit. This is it for me. I will find another place. Worst gym ever. Don't wait your time and money dealing with the most disgusting individuals. I Was kicked out of the gym for bringing in a gallon of water, they said the it looks intimidating and that it's a judge free zone. I asked what was intimidating they said the gym doesn't cater to body builders. I said I am not a body builder just a fat guy trying to loose weight, they told me I still have to leave because of my gallon of water. I canceled my membership two days after it started. read more

I went to Planet Fitness the other day as part of my mission to find a local (to Nyack) gym. The guide instructed me that Planet Fitness is not intended for folks that are serious about lifting weights and is for beginners and those that are OK lifting light-weights and doing cardio. What that means: *Dumbbells don't go above 60lbs *There are no free weight barbells (bench, squat, etc) *There are about 300 cardio machines (no lie) *Grunting or any guttural noise made from exertion is forbidden!!! The gym is clean, well manicured, and easily fit about 150 people when I was in there. The parking lot was packed although there was still plenty of space available. $10-19 a month fees are hard to beat. read more

The price is right: $10/month. But you get what you pay for. This gym is FILTHY. I have never seen ANY staff clean a machine EVER. People sweat on these machines and it just builds up and honestly makes me want to hurl sometimes. Also the TV/radio controls on nearly ALL the machines have fallen off their holders so you have to fight with where to put it and your other stuff and, as is the theme here, they're filthy. I would gladly pay double for some cleaning people to wipe down machines. I've paid far more for gyms in the city and the machines look brand new all the time because they are cleaned. If filthy doesn't bother you, you'll be fine here. I've never seen any of the staff do anything here but socialize at the front desk, wonder what they're paid to do. read more

I just ended my three year membership here. At first, it was a great no-frills gym. The price and hours were perfect for me. For months before ending my membership, the gym seemed to go downhill very fast. The staff didn't seem concerned with people hanging out on the equipment rather than working out on them. Some of the clientele didn't seem to mind sweating buckets over the treadmill then leaving the machine a mess. Gross! The gym had an obnoxiously bad odor. Planet Fitness was a great gym. For the sake of the business, I hope management pays attention to reviews here and elsewhere. read more

I'm not quite sure what the problem is with this place and the bad reviews. I've been here a couple of times and will be going back again. The place is clean, I saw two people cleaning while I was there one day. The locker rooms were being cleaned and mopped along with the equipment on the floor being cleaned. Now is this a fluke or something they do regularly? Well on my next visit I saw the same stuff, so this leads me to believe they actually do keep it clean....we'll see though. I do have one problem and that seems to be wherever I go....gym equipment is NOT meant for you to relax on and have a social conversation! Go sit somewhere else and do it! read more

Giving this business 1 star is actually quite generous. With the 10 dollars a month that they charge for this gym, the value is actually overpriced. Why? First of all, the weights do not even go above 60 pounds. You have to wait in line to even use equipment. When your waiting in line and your in the middle of your routine workout, waiting past 5 minutes to move into another machine is already ruining your workout. Your going to get used to the machines in a couple months and since there isnt much of a variety your muscles will not grow much becuase you will already be used to it all. There are no free weight BARS you can add weight to and do curls or rows, or cleans, just dumb bells. Parking is horrible. bathrooms stink so badly and are not air conditioned so you are getting very humid bathrooms that will only promote bacteria growth. The workers have no sense of customer service, let alone interpersonal comunication except for the one black guy that works there, everyone else is sub par Definitely spend the extra 40 dollars elsewhere for a better quality gym, this place is a complete waste of money. read more

Thought I'd go to this location because I work nearby but I didn't enjoy it at all. First thing I noticed was there was no key rack-annoying to have to carry my keys around. Place is so wide open, not a lot of weight equipment compared to other PFs. The cardio equipment has the shared large tvs- not a fan of that either. read more

Its a gym, not really much more to say. I go 2-3 times a week during off peak hours when its less crowded. Going right after work is the worst because all machines are taken and for me personally I like working out better when there are less people around. The free weight area is almost always crowded and Ive never used the bathrooms or showers so I dont know what they are like. They give out pizza every 3rd Monday which is crazy to me and theres always an unlimited supply of tootsie rolls, I dont get it. But for $10/mo it serves its purpose. Don't quite get all the hate this gym gets but to me it's quite allright. It's 10 bucks a month to access a simple gym that has the basics to work out. They have a lot of elliptical equipment and weights. I work late so I normally don't face parking problems. The late hours are good for us not having a normal 9 to 5. Planet Fitness is located off of Route 304 in Nanuet across from The Rockland Bakery. Very inexpensive and clean. This gym is fully equipt with a wide array of Eliptical machines, stair climbers, treadmills, bikes, and weight machines etc. They have personal and group training. There are 4 tanning beds and a large locker room. I would suggest this gym to any highschool & college students, or anyone on a budget. There are TV's hanging across the gym so if you are on any cardio machine you can plug in your headphones and watch your favorite shows- trust me this makes your work-out go a lot faster! I wouldn't want to go to another gym, it's the best in Rockland County. Very close to NJ, where I used to live, and also close to westchester. If you are a black card member and live in westchester county you have the luxury of going to Nanuet Planet Fitness and White Plains Planet fitness. The plus about Nanuet is that is open for 24 hours. I would reccomend this gym to anyone! Only bad thing is when you are done with a great work-out, and you are walking to your car, you smell the delicous bread being baked accross the street!.... a total tease! read more

This gym was just under OK for the time being for my needs. I went for 2 years so I could belong to a gym I could afford and lose weight. At this point it no longer suits me. I left here to go elsewhere, now able to afford a different gym. I lost my motivation here, most people are just socializing and hogging machines and typing away on their phones. The treadmills are so old and beat up! I went here in high school and they are the same wobbly treadmills. The place really just isn't clean and no one takes care of it. Stuff is broken a good amount of the time. They don't have enough weight machines either. PF is cheap, clean, convenient, always open and there's always plenty of free machines. Courteous staff. Yes, the decent sized parking lot can fill up on, say, Monday mornings, but I always park at the far end anyway. I'm here to work out so what's wrong with walking a block to get to the door?
