I have been a member at Winchester Planet Fitness since November of 2021. Until recently, everything was ok--nothing special but no problems. When Matt Shaffer was hired on as Manager in 2025, everything changed for the better. Not only were all the amenities that I use (machines, tanning, free weights, cardio) improved, but Matt and his staff went out of their way to greet me every day by name, ask how things were, and were always on point when I asked a question of needed anything. Planet Fitnesss on South Pleasant Valley is well maintained and has all of the latest equipment. At $25 a month for a premium membership, they are half the price of most their competitors. The equipment is well maintained and the gym over all is kept immaculately clean. The management is both affable and attentive toward members. Despite the college brats that occasionally infest the place, I give Planet Fitness five stars. read more

Worst Planet Fitness I've Been To. I have a feeling they oversold memberships because there is so many people working out at all times of the day, morning, lunchtime, midafternoon, and night! I've went during the week the weekend and just tried out most of the typical busy and unbusy times of the day and let me tell you, if you plan to use the smith machine, don't. There is always and I mean always someone using them, there are only 3 and I have not been in once when there isn't someone on each of them with people lurking around to secure the next one that frees up. This isn't my first planet fitness i've been to so I have an idea of what overcrowding looks like. General recommendation: find another gym it's definitely worth it, I certainly will be doing the same. read more

This location is spotless top to bottom. I come and I see employees detailing every single machine in the afternoons. Ive even see them clean the fans, walls, and the ceiling! There is always someone at front desk and even when there isn't they are quick to come back up when they're busy. The entire afternoon shift always stays busy doing a lot to help the gym. I have been a member for about six months. I just hit my weight goal. When I first started I could only do 5 situps, I am now up to 50.

Decent when open. They don't always open at their already limited hours. Don't go at 6am unless you want to waste a trip and some sleep.

No hot water in the showers. I have been to this location twice, both times there was no hot water What a disappointment on a 8h drive at 1am. read more

I wiould give this place zero if that were an option. Things were fine until I changed my bank. I had went into the location after speaking with someone on the phone who said I had to come in to update. I tried to update on the app but it would not allow me to do that. I went in on my lunch break as I thought that this would not be that hard of a process as it hasn't been for anything else that I had to update. The girl at the counter was by herself and the manager was just walking around. There was a line at the counter. Once she got to me she was able to update the banking account information but couldn not get the credit card information in correctly. I had to return to work so I had to say I would stop by another time to get that set up. Fast forward a few days, my bank account was debited for $25.05 which I think is the black card pricing which is fine. Also through my credit card, the same card that she could not get to go through, a $5.05 debit and then a few days later a debit of $10.00. Thus for my March membership, I paid $40.10. That's a lot for this type of a membership and not what was agreed upon. I called and spoke with Haley who said her manager was busy but was able to get her on the phone. Sabrina, the manager of the gym could not even get my name in the system correctly and had to ask for it several times. She then didn't want to listen to the charges that were made claiming that they were late charges. Nope, my account was paid in full on time when the bank account change happened. I now have to dispute this with my bank to get back the $15.10 which was overcharged due to incompetence. I will send them a certified letter also to cancel out my membership. Long story short, I have gone to other gyms without all of this hassle. Do yourself a favor and find a better gym with a staff that is trained and can fix these types of issues that come up. Sabrina is a poor manager in my opinion and that should be looked at as well. That poor leadeship might be why her staff doesn't know how to do basic things like change out a credit card on file. read more

I stopped in at the Winchester location this morning hoping to get started in the gym again after being out for a while with health issues. I had stopped in a few days before to renew my membership and the young lady at the desk was very nice and told me when I came back someone could help me learn how to use the machines. This morning there was another young lady at the desk. She seemed more interested in talking to the young man sitting on the desk than helping customers. I adked for help and she took me to the machines and told me to look at the pictures or use the QR codes to learn how to use the machines. I asked if there was a person to help and she told me I could go to Martinsburg for that. I told her I would have to find another gym that was willing to help people learn the machines and she gave me a smart response when I yd her I didn't appreciate her attitude she began yelling at me in the gym. Planet Fitness advertises a judgement free zone that makes you feel comfortable but that is not what they provide. I would rather pay more for a gym membership than be treated the way I was treated at this facility read more

I thoroughly enjoy coming to Planet Fitness Winchester They are always so friendly when I come in. Such a welcoming and warm environment. Staff is wonderful. I feel like family. I usually come in on the evenings and weekends and let me tell you it's always spotless. Ashlee and Alyssa are cleaning the walls, equipment, bathroom and floors frequently. You can tell the difference when they aren't in! Also, big shout out to Ashlee!!! She is approachable, funny, kind and ALWAYS makes sure the customers are taken care of. She remembers your name. Your not just a card holder.I hope gets the recognition she deserves. If she's not a manager yet, I hope soon. She is what makes Planet Fitness stand apart. read more

Perfect !!! ...... everything .... staff is helpful and polite, machines are always working properly, TVs are big and clear and lots of them, the gym and locker room are always clean and sterile, the beverages are cold, it's never over-crowded, parking is great, the price is the best ..... everything is 5star and 2 thumbs up 10 bucks a month .... perfect !!! Thanks Oh !!! And don't forget plenty of complimentary pizza on the 1st Monday of every month and coffee and bagels on every 2nd Tuesday of every month. Now tell me, where the hell are ya gonna get all that for 10 bucks a month ? I've been going there for 2 1/2 hours a day, 6 days a week, for the past year, and I never saw any rudeness ever from anyone within that gym .... great atmosphere !!! Really nice gym. Staff is very friendly and helpful. My boyfriend and I went here for two weeks while we were visiting family and needed a place to workout. We don't belong to a PF at home as there isn't one close to us but this was a nice gym to go to while we were out. I don't know what Jim you are going to but the Planet Fitness on Pleasant Valley in Winchester Virginia is nasty as hell the girls room has hair everywhere it's nasty we have to walk through it and the boys room does not have any privacy stalls to sit down in or get dressed and they just put a new water heater in there but it's still pumping out cold water when you turn on I told the people about it and their answer was we have 10,000 members excuse me 10,000 girls are not taking showers for that water to be cold . They just need to fix the hot water cuz it does not work in the girls bathroom anyway . I also have pictures of cockroaches baby and adult lots of them different ones yes there is more than two cockroaches and then you want to talk about all the baby flies I counted six when I was there at once and then there's a sewage smell that's coming out of the bathroom showers drains. And anybody who wants to get stupid about the spelling I'm using voice text it messes up and for some reason I can't go back up to the top and fix it ..i have seen and heard others say it is a gym for the poor and on food stamps..basically IT IS cause of the sewer smell and cockroaches and flies and no hot water and again I want to stress that the girls leaving their hair everywhere is awful the people who work there needs to go in there every 15-20 minutes just to sweep up the hair it's nasty very very nasty and think about the Cockroaches where have they been and they're walking on the walls and on the seats and the floors what diseases do they have . I bet you those girls' houses are a total mess due to the way they leave their hair and other things in that gym. And yes there is some of those that work there that have a bad attitude they stick their noses up in the air like they're better than you excuse me you work at the gym that we go to you're not better than us at all zero read more

I was not happy with the gym. I wanted to cancel the plan and I moved out of the area. They would not cancel over the phone though I moved out of the area. They said I needed to send a cancellation letter so that they can bill me an extra month. I sent the cancellation letter and they continued to bill me. They refused to cancel claiming I now owe a $58 buyout fee and they continued to bill me all these months. These guys are such a scam. Please stay AWAY from this fitness center. read more

Comparable equipment to some of the other gyms in the area - maybe not the high end versions, but they work fine. Lots of cardio equipment (so you stand a chance of getting one if it's busy). 2 or more of other machines. Staff doesn't chat too much, but they have been polite when I walk by the desk. Pricing is lower than other gyms in the area. $10 or $22/month. Reasonable. I've paid a little more for a 24/7 gym in the past, I wasn't unhappy, but canceling theirs when I wasn't using it was a 3-4 month tug-o-war. This offers more space with similar amenities. I've paid more for a much more focused and strength training plan as well. As much as I loved them, my health needs at the time and my wallet needed a break. It is clean, it's also new, but no complaints. We were made aware if we committed to 12 months, that we would have to pay roughly 2.5 months ($58) to buy-out and cancel our membership and dates at which we would be billed or cut-offs. Fair enough. Penalty for breaking contract, pretty standard for most services. It serves my purpose. I just want to get in and out and workout. Sometimes I am wide awake at 1:00am and I can go then too if I so choose. I can bring a guest at no charge and if someone is using a machine I want, there is more than enough to keep me busy until it's available. read more

Klay and Bobby are awesome! This was our first time to this location, but they welcomed my daughter and me with a smile and answered all our questions about the location. They told us a lot of helpful info about their franchise in case we were ever traveling near their other locations. All of the equipment is new and the machines are impeccably clean. We will definitely come back when in town! For those that use the Total Body Enhancement, this location doesn't have one. They have pretty much everything else, though. read more

I signed up explaining I only worked in that location I was told by cashiers that I could pay the one time 99 dollars for the year and I could transfer the membership to other planet fitness gyms this is total bs. While at planet fitness in Winchester today I was kicked off a machine because Elizabeth "the trainer" was holding a class. She was rude and said I couldn't use the machine until her class was over I spoke with the manger who also said the machines she uses during her class are off limits to other paying customers. My contract does not say anything about restrictions on any equipment. The website says members can enjoy unlimited access. This is simply false advertisement And who holds a class during peak times. I like this gym, the facilities are clean and the staff is really nice. I wouldn't say it's the largest facility I have been in, but it certainly doesn't feel cramped. Everyone wipes down their equipment and the rules are explained when you join. I will continue to come to this gym, who can beat $10 a month! read more

Fantastically priced shiny new fitness club just opened at 10am. The machines are all brand new, everything in in great condition, and now that the place is open its a 24/7 facilitiy. Memberships are only $10-20 per month (the $20 "Black card" membership comes with tanning, massage chairs and beds, etc). The staff seems very friendly & helpful. Fairly new gym in Winchester. Membership prices are reasonable, although be warned that you'll need a voided check to sign up. I signed up for the basic membership ($10 a month), but there's also a higher sign up fee that bumps the cost up a bit. Most of the staff members are pretty friendly. Lots of lockers available (bring your own lock), and nice locker rooms with showers and ample space. All of the machines still seem new, and are clearly well maintained. The gym is also nice and clean, although it does smell funky at times (but heck, it's a gym). Overall, solid place if you're looking for a basic gym. read more

Again Hosed by the Non- Training Snow Flakes at the planet. Had a good shoulder work out going in the process of my last 3- sets of shoulder shrugs I went to the Smith Machine. And wouldn't you know it, stood idle for 6 minutes while I watched a Gym Rat (not) check his texts messages while using the only machine available. This place has Rules. I have a set but apparently it's ok to play on your phone during a workout. But don't GRUNT while doing a heavy set of Triceps that's unruly and not acceptable at the planet. Went to the front desk and ask the manager why this is allowed and he stated it's ok . Unbelievable so beware to the serious Lunks that want to get in a workout and leave. You might be delayed by the social media Gym Rats. Hope this doesn't set off the LUNK alarm. read more

We've been a member at PF for 18 months. The GOOD: PF membership costs are dirt cheap, they have plenty of equipment, the folks at the desk are friendly to us always, plenty of video around. The BAD: a year ago the gym was spotless, the equipment constantly cleaned by staff, and the locker rooms were constantly being cleaned - not now. The floors need cleaning and have noticeable debris, the equipment is hardly wiped down by staff, and locker rooms are not cleaned like they used to be. Sorry Winchester PF, not heading in a good direction. Just start cleaning again and things will return to 5 stars! read more

The gym itself was pretty nice. Overall, I was not impressed with the equipment because for a gym... they really didn't have much to offer. The staff was nice but I am extremely disappointed with their understanding of a person's life outside of the gym. I was paying $20 a month to go here. I'll admit I wasn't utilizing my membership to the fullest but I was more than okay with still paying that price because when I did go, I liked to bring a guest, etc. About half way through the year of my signing up, I got offered a job a little over an hour away. This location doesn't have a Planet Fitness. I was bummed when I found that out but couldn't help that I had to move out to where I'd be working. I went in and cancelled my membership, which was about $60. That seemed a bit ridiculous considering I couldn't help the fact that I had to move for work and they weren't even a little understanding. I accepted that fact and said to go ahead and process it because that was more cost effective than paying $20 a month for the rest of the time I had the membership. Before leaving, I asked the staff member helping if I would be charged anything else after this. He said no, you came just in time to not be charged for anything else. I thanked him, hoped he had a great rest of his day and left. A week or so later, I got a charge to my account for $20. I called up and another gentleman said I had missed to date to cancel by just a few days... I was very frustrated with this response. Thy did not refund ANY money to me or understand that it's not my fault I had to move somewhere that Planet Fitness isn't located. I will NEVER recommend a Planet Fitness to anyone because all they care about is getting their $$$. Forget about EVER talking to the manager, they have 100 excuses why she cant come to the phone and wont return calls. You base a business on there employees. Generally good gym, only complaint is they will not get the water fountain serviced. When I first started going the water was cold and delicious, now its lukewarm and makes me worry about if the filter is old and nasty. I have voiced my concern about 67 times but so far I cant see a difference. Hopefully the manager will take care of this issue, because everyone there drinks alot of H20. read more
