The setup is awful. For some reason machines aren't separated by muscle group like every other gym in existence. You have to wander the entire gym looking for the right machine. I go to Planet Fitness in Yakima WA. The gym is nice, the equipment is in good condition and there is a wide variety of machines. The staff are friendly and keep the facility nice and clean. However, the staff fails to remind patrons that phones are only to be used in the lobby. I assume this rule includes texting & social media, etc. Every time I go to work out there are multiple other patrons who are tying up (sitting on) machines while on their phones. This happens at both Yakima locations. I wish the staff would do their job and enforce the rules. When I mentioned it to them, I was basically told to handle it myself. read more

Spent years going to another gym in Yakima, and decided to give Planet Fitness a chance. Absolutely love it and can't figure out why it gets such a bad rap. Uriel and Alexis are especially helpful and kind. They are always cleaning and making sure groups aren't congregating around machines, which was a huge issue where we used to go. I recommend bringing someone to work out with because everybody's plugged into music and no one talks to you, but that is not the business's problem. That's just the way people are. Planet Fitness is a ripoff company!!! I thought my membership was canceled in 2022 Maddy had tried to use our membership and had been told a number of times it was not active. Ok fastforward 2 years I find out the account had been put inactive and for two years they collected 35.73 out of my account that we could use because it was inactive!!!!! Beaware they are dishonest and the little pipsqueek manager at Summitview needs a reality check. Im 71 an he was going to throw me out of Planet fitness because I called him out on his policy and he had no answer so hr want to remove me , you and what army little man. I went to Planet Fitness on a visit to Yakima, WA. My home club is the Bay Club here in L.A., & I was pleasantly surprised...overjoyed? to visit Planet Fitness. They had extensive equipment, good organization for it & other needs (like a place for a quick workout with a selected number of machines). They had a large number of sanitation islands scattered throughout the gym, with disinfectant & paper towel-like dispensers. The employees were very helpful, too! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because I don't think they had many exercise classes. read more

These 3 stars are purely for the physical facility. It is clean and very spacious. The lack of stars is for the lack of attention to electronic maintenance and the young staff. I think more TVs are currently not working than are working, and the incredible indifference of the front desk staff makes it almost painful to go in. Most of them stand around laughing and talking yo each other.. meanwhile one of the stalls in the women's bathroom is disgustingly backed up and bathroom supplies are low. Planet Fitness, at the lowest point, you make at least $120 a year per member, you have over 10 million members in the United States.. can you really not throw in some cash to keep your monitors working and your bathroom stocked? Isn't that what our membership is paying for? Once spring hits I may be taking my nikes to the pavement outside and saving myself a ten spot every month. read more

I called to get information about the new planet fitness on west side. I spoke to a woman. She explained that a different owner and doesn't know any thing. Then she mumble something . I told her, "You are mumbling." She became rude. Am hard of hearing / deaf. I became upset. Cost 70 bucks to drop from fair ave. Mmm , I'll switch to west side. The front doors never get wipe down . I see black prints. I told them , young ones standing around, to clean it down . Never happen. I clean the doors on way out. Very germs spreading. I didn't want to add a one star. I've been a member for awhile now, attending multiple times a week, averaging an hour each visit. I do like the style of the gym, everything is clean and organized. I like the 'judgment free' mood encouragement (even though an alarm goes off when someone is judged as a 'lunk'). My biggest complaint is the machines are not inspected! Some immature kid must have gone around the gym and peeled off the labeling of weights on machines, then switched them around with other weight labels (on many of the machines). This causes the user to not know what weight they are using on a machine, so how can growth be measured? When a member gets on a vandalized machine the weight needs changed several times before the correct amount of weight is selected, because of it being mislabeled. If I could this place 0 stars, it would be under that. I'm visiting for the next 45 days, so the 10 dollars a month was appealing. I knew they were strict about certain gym "stereotypes" but this place picks and chooses which rules are important to them. I used to bring a Gallon jug, did this for two weeks then one person said it's not allowed. After asking for a list of rules, I was referred to back to the agreement that states " they pick and choose which rules to apply". Ok cool, no more water jug. I start bringing a small back pack with my jacket, small pocket items, and things of that nature. I do this for about another 2 weeks. As I'm running a 6 min mile pace on the tread mill, obviously trying to push through, a worker, as I'm running comes to tell back packs are not allowed. I am new to Planet Fitness. Love the fact that the folks there are friendly and helpful. I'm 59, and out of shape and the act of walking into a gym for the first time was very intimidating. The staff but me at ease and showed me around. I don't feel judged as there are people of all ages, shapes and sizes there. I Have Been attending this gym for over 6 months. It's not a bad gym, but there is room for improvement. First the maintenance is terrible. Almost half the TVs don't work and haven't since I joined. It took months to fix a water fountain. The hot water in the women's shower only works part of the time. I know I have reported these things. Staff says they know and shrugs thief shoulders. The manager blames corporate etc Second. The staff is very young. They are friendly. However it is obvious they are not able to handle daily gym problems. The gym members often sit on cell phone or talk to one another while sitting on machines. Several times I timed it at over 10 minutes. Members also mis use machines often. Staff routinely sits at the front desk. The only time they are on the floor is if they are cleaning. Several patrons have went to staff about problems on the gym floor. Staff replies they will watch the cameras at the front. I do understand staff cannot watch everything and should not police the floor. They do need to be paying attention. Third. They do not have enough machines or space. Recently all Ab machines were moved into a timed ab workout. No one and I mean no one does the time abs. The area is over crowded and mis used. There are not enough arm machines. Only one bicep and chest press. The thigh machines are grossly mis used and there two of each. Lines are long on off season. This gym is a decent little gym. It's the lack of upkeep and unmotivated staff that contributes to its demise. read more

Okay so I am new to this work out thing, and I have to say I was really self conscious at first, but from my first visit on I have had the best experience, I feel comfortable with the staff, the facility is clean, and welcoming. I only wish they had more classes, but the few I've attended have been great, the orientation was super helpful and as I didn't know how to use any of the equipment or where to even begin the Design Your Own class was great. I read some down right horrifying reviews of planet fitnesses across the country, but I will honestly say from my own experience as a beginner I am happy with my decision to sign up here. As for the pizza and candy controversy, I guess I call it a test of will power or maybe just a really creative customer retention program. read more

Outside of that this gym has everything you need to get a great workout in quickly and lose weight or stay in shape. Golds Gym, 24hr Fitness, LA Fitness, Crunch and now Planet Fitness. In fact, recurring payment systems are the gold standard for many business owner through out the United States. Shame on you for assuming this business would defraud you and shame on you for writing a bad review because you don't like their payment policy you agreed too and their unwillingness to change it for you. Planet Fitness continues to disappoint. TV's have essentially been non functioning for months and nobody including the managers can tell anybody when they're going to be fixed. Had a nice workout today but took a nice cold shower after. Not by choice, just not much hot water. The Planet Fitness of Yakima is open 24 hours a day every day of the year, except for Thanksgiving & Christmas. The motto of the club is "judgment-free zone," which means no critics, no egos and no excessive noise while working out. It is an interesting re-definition of the term "judgment," but we will let it go for now. Perhaps a better expression would be "macho-free" zone. This franchise was built in the building of the old Food Pavilion of the Gateway Plaza. Staff members such as Christine are very nice and professional. Yakima Planet Fitness is fairly new and has all of the state-of-the-art Planet Fitness equipment, and has clean modern locker rooms (I have not personally been into the women's, er- uhmmmm). I am a "black card" member. This is only $20 a month. I can visit any Planet Fitness anywhere for free. I can also take guests with me at any location as well. For some reason, they have chosen to hand each member one towel to clean off their machines when done with each one, rather than have disposable towels next to the sanitizer spray bottles like most clubs. This is a little inconvenient to cart your one white washcloth all through your workout. Furthermore, few members understand that it is the handles more than the seats of the machines that need to be sanitized. Germs spread from hand to hand. I am more into the basics of fitness and really don't need pizza, tootsie rolls and massage chairs. I think that what most people need at a gym is knowledge--training, nutrition, gym etiquette. The gym was convenient for me when I lived in Yakima not to mention very affordable. That being said, keep in mind that PF has an absurd policy regarding membership cancelation. I moved away and called to cancel and was told I have to mail them a letter! Not an email, not a phone call to a manager, a snail-mailed letter explaining my desire to cancel my membership. This is aggravating because it is clearly a way that they gain extra money from people who weren't able to cancel in person. This particularly policy is exactly why I will never be a PF member again (and I've had my fair share of difficulty canceling at other gyms in the past!). I've called and went in multiple times to cancel my membership. I cancelled the first time due to a health condition i couldn't afford to keep paying. I was told no worries it was cancelled. Called again this year cant remember when exactly and was told that i needed to pay the years membership. Why??? If i was told it was cancelled. I havent been to this place in a very long time. I dropped off proof it was charged to my account and haven't heard anything back. Going through my transactions today and yet i keep getting charged monthly??? Like really?? The gym itself is good and has nice equipment. There are things that I don't like tho. For one I like to tan and the rooms have zero ventilation, they let person after person tan until the glass is too hot to touch and when you tell them the little rooms get too hot they play dumb and say "really? I haven't noticed". The whole pizza thing is super annoying. I go in there and it makes my stomach so sick from the smell and u definitely do not want to work out in it. If you like to workout at Pizza Hut this is your place. Oh and if you want some candy there are bowls of it on your way out. I'm all for non judgement but a gym is a place of encouragement to lead a healthier life style, not encourage bad eating habits. And no wifi. So forget music. read more

This planet fitness is not like others I've been to, it is over crowded, no way your going to get a work out in on the weights, better yet it's filled with lunks and the staff hasn't a clue what a lunk is, if you take a picture of a lunk in there you can match it to the majority where the weight's are, I went in on March 3rd at 11:30 at night....simply no room, this was after calling and the person who answered the phone said it was empty, if you want to be around a large number of idiot lunks this is the place for you....no I did not like my experience one bit, awful. read more

For the last 3 months I haven't been ask to wear tan goggles. The last time I came in worked out and tried to tan a staff member asked me. I said no and explained that nobody has asked me in the last 3 months. So today I brought in my dark shades sunglasses. Which some of the managers and staff previously let me use. Today it seems that they aren't good enough for them. I asked if I bought some of they could keep my tan goggles for me so I don't have to carrying them around while working out. They said No. I asked why they don't Supply them in the tan rms. They said sanitation purposes. Lol I said then if that was an issue then what about all the naked bodies in the tanning beds. She had no answer. I don't want to have to get a locker and a gym bag. I want it to easy when I go. I have a belt I wear around my waist. I broke my tan goggles in it the first day. I have a black card so I can work out and tan. I'm not happy with the staff always changing the rules. I would think it would be easiest if they supplied the tan goggles in the tan rms. And have a note to wipe them off just like they do with the tan beds. Irritated! read more
