I cannot Rave enough about this Salon! Wendy is a very kind, friendly, and experienced hairdresser. I had very long thick brown hair which is possibly any hair dresser's nightmare but after four hours I came out looking like a new woman! Wendy gave me the best beige blonde balayage with a haircut as well for the most reasonable price! She truly does it out of passion and art, and tells lots of fun stories to keep you entertained throughout! Recently relocated from her Commercial Drive location, my go-to esthetician has moved to my North Burnaby neighborhood. Rita's new home is a cozy, comfortable room at Planet Hair studio. I can tell you that Rita is AMAZING. She is lightening fast (which is a plus for the more painful waxing procedures) and completely thorough. I have never been disappointed with a service from Rita. She is charming and always a treat to talk to. And I especially love it that she remembers my husband's name and to ask after my coworkers (who are also addicted to Rita's services) . And she doesn't mind accommodating my stroller and infant son on those days when I can't get a break from being a mom. I've only tried the waxing services, but she also offers manicures and pedicures which I'm sure are great. As if great services weren't enough, Rita offers an incredible value. most services I've had are a third to half the price I've paid for a similar service at other local salons! read more

This review is for Holly who occupies a room inside Planet Hair offering 3D volume lash extensions. She is IMMACULATE at her craft. I have never been one to be overly elated at my lash extension results done by many other technicians around the city but Holly is a true artist. She is incredibly talented with lash extensions giving me that volume I always resulted to my strip lashes for. For the first time, I was shocked when I saw the post result. I took a photo of the end result because this is where I find more volume really becomes important is how they show up in photos and it looked as if I was wearing the same volume in the strips I had worn earlier that day. She is also very passionate about what she does which is what makes her incredible at lashes. Wendy cut my hair and as we discussed my needs (I don't like to do much styling and wanted 'easy'), she pointed out that cleaning up the haircut and then letting it grow out was actually the option with the easiest daily hair care. This is also the option that will result in me visiting Planet Hair less, but Wendy didn't care! Great haircut, very clean place. Came here to get my hair bleached and coloured blue teal. I sent Maria a picture of what I wanted a week in advance of the appointment. When I went there for my appointment and post-bleach, all of a sudden she told me they ran out of teal and she mixed a little green. Okay, I just went with it as I had no choice. My hair came out green as hell and she said that if in a few days after rinsing it a few times I decided I didn't like it, she would colour it again for free. I did as she said and still didn't see the green coming off to show the blue. I set up an appointment for Saturday to avail of the free service in order to correct the error. One the day of, she messaged me if I was going to bring my own hair dye. I said no but I can totally pick something up. She said no worries, they have some. I came in and got my hair done. The result was only a slight change, from light green to a darker, not as bright green. I wasn't 100% happy with it but hey, stuff happens. People don't always get it right and she at least tried to correct her previous mistake for free of charge. I went to the counter so I could tip her and all of a sudden she asked me for $65?? She clarified that it was HER SERVICE that was free, but not the colour. She never mentioned the distinction when we talked face to face or through text. So I paid extra $65 to get my hair a little bit darker? There were so many opportunities to inform me that ONLY the service was free, and not the blue colour, which was meant to fix her mistake. If I had know, I would have just brought my own colour for her to apply. But I wasn't even given the chance because she, intentionally or not, didn't tell me that she would be charging me for the colour. I basically paid for a colour to correct someone else's mistake. Horrible ethics and transparency was not to be found. read more

I actually come here to use the corner salon for Lynn from Blue Lava who has rented out a small section in the back. The rest of the salon looks nice and people seem happy to go there. My go to lady Lynn has been doing my hair for 10 years and she is awesome. She is so zen that she makes everything okay. She listens to my needs of how I want my hair and has the balls to tell me if something can't or won't work. She's always bleached my hair safely to ensure healthy roots and no breakage. Wendy is a natural born hairdresser that has perfected her craft. She is sincere warm and friendly and a real joy to have a chat with while getting your hair done. I was introduced to Wendy by my daughter when I was in a panic as my hairdresser couldn't fit me in. I was so impressed, I continued to go back to her as I loved what she did. I never need to tell her what to do as she just seems to know what I need done. She's a natural. She is the fastest hairdresser I've ever been to in my 55 years. I have very thick hair that has left me sitting in salons for at least 3 hours. Wendy and her fantastic support team have me out in 1.5 hours, even when I call for a last minute appointment...she never disappoints. Wendy's salon is busy because everyone spreads the word. Overall presentation of this salon was spectacular, no doubt about it. Great furniture, decent music, fun staff, the works I would highly recommend if you're this establishment if you're in the neighborhood and need some work done on your hair. I myself came in for a brazilian wax, my third one ever, but first time at this location, would not recommend. Although the lady was very good at setting a comforting mood, my overall results didn't live up to the standards up past experiences. Usually, one would be given a moment in privacy to freshen up and arrange ones belongings, but this was not so. The process seemed a bit rushed as well, though her conversation was very relaxed and we'll flowing, I didn't feel as though things were done in detail and my results speak for themselves, I now have torn patches on my skin as well as neglected areas... Service is fast and the quality is good and the rest of the girls that work there are sweethearts but Wendy told me on two separate occasions, in front of other people, that my hair AND nails look like sh*t. Literally. She said "what the hell is that cr*p on your nails?" And told the other stylist "you should have seen the mess of this girls hair when she came in". Okay, I don't care whether you think this or not, this is NOT something you should ever say to someone,especially a customer! Also, I asked for a specific hair color from her and she promised that's what I would get , and when I come in, she said "I don't have that color , but I'm just gonna use this instead".
