Super easy to get your VAT refund if you spend over 300DKK.
I appreciate that in Denmark and all over Europe this policy in place to not have foreigners pay for their very high taxes (25% in Denmark) for benefits to their society that we (tourist) won't see.
You do have to spend over 300DKK, but once you do that (excluding alcohol and services), the process is easy to get your refund.
But, make sure when you purchase your items to ask the attendant for VAT refund process. You will need the receipt of your items, the Planet sticker where you need to complete some basic information and you do need to show items you purchased at the counter and not place items in your check in luggage (this is a bit of a drag honestly).
The Planet Tax Refund counter is right between Terminal 2 and 3 before security and the process for me was super painless!
Counter guy was cheerful/helpful and processed me within 5 minutes. Make sure you have your passport (which of course you should have to fly) and also your itinerary (digital on your phone was acceptable) or boarding pass.
While you don't get all the 25% tax back, its still a good amount and worth it to make sure you collect your VAT refund as Denmark is probably one of the most expensive countries in the world. Every penny counts!
Great program and very easy process at CPH airport. read more
