Amazing facility, wonderful staff! Last time I went to PP, it was located on King Street. It was small and parking was challenging. Their current location is beautiful! Large parking lot, large waiting area, many patient room, and larger staff. Amazing! Just as expected, not too many people were in the waiting area and processing was quick and painless. The nurse that helped me was very kind and thorough. It was difficult talking to each other with the masks on, but we got through it. Very fortunate that they were open for my scheduled appointment. I had some specific questions and she informed the nurse practitioner. It took a while for her to come, but she was able to answer my questions in great detail and provided experience too. This is a great resource for women. They do what they can do for us. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call or go on their website. read more

NOTE TO PEOPLE NEW TO OAHU'S SPECIFIC PP: the Honolulu location does not provide title X accommodations, so be prepared to pay between $200-$400 for a simple lab analysis. This is not updated anywhere on the site and you will only be notified in person. The 800 phone number and patient portal is the only way you can get in contact with them as they do not provide any other service number. The patient questionnaire portal doesn't work and they do not ever pick up the phone. So, if you are experiencing a UTI, yeast infection, or something of the like, head to either the CVS minute clinic or urgent care if you have no insurance. It will save you a ton! Additionally they do not inform you of when they perform pregnancy tests if they give you a urine sample, but still charge you for it (I was tested without oral consent for a test even though I informed them of not having intercourse within the past year). So be wary of that and expect an associated fee of $17. The three stars are because the nurses and doctors were really kind! There is nothing wrong with the medical professionals working at pp, just the system is not the same as other mainland or isle locations (AGAIN THE WEBSITE DOESN'T EXPLAIN ANY OF THIS) and is not worth it for uninsured people (but good for people with insurance... I hope)! Hopefully this saves some people time, money, and relief. read more

It's rare that I leave reviews, and when the service is exceptional, I want others to know. There is parking, the facility is very clean, the front office staff was helpful and professional. The provider was friendly, took the time to listen, but more importantly, I was impressed with the service provided. It is obvious she is experienced, because I didn't realize she was done with the removal of an IUD. She did it so effortless. I have used IUDs for the past 20 years, and this is the first time I didn't experience discomfort/pain. That says a lot about the provider. I highly recommend this facility. read more

Longest Time I'm debating... Do I really want to write a review about this place and share with all my friends about my girl part secrets??? I guess I better keep that to myself and keep this short and simple. What does a girl do when she has no health insurance?!! But still needs birth control cause her migraines make life miserable... This place is the solution. I found this place from a friend. She told me they offer bc for free if you don't have insurance. SWEET! Well then you still need to see a gynob if you're on the pills so you don't get ovarian cancer... They do all that. Some other services are free some they charge a fee. So if you're that adult who had some one night, mmmhmmm you better come here and get tested. They offer free rubbers too. Bad thing is you gotta call and make appt, they never pick up but they will call you back once you leave msg. If you walk in... look forward to waiting 3 hours to get helped. With appts, I've waited 1.5 hours before! Staff are friendly, they just have such a long wait. read more

I went in for an in clinic abortion. The staff are very non-judgmental and sweet and make you feel very safe. I went alone but I felt very comforted by them. They talk you through every thing they do and the whole procedure was very quick to me. Online it said it would take 5 hours but I was out of there in 2 1/2 hours. I also like that you can make an appointment online and when I called there was always someone to talk to as well. I wish I could do more for them then just write a review because they really made me feel better about the whole situation. read more

They helped me a lot when I needed urgent help for birth control and symptoms and when I couldn't see any other doctor. The providers were generally very kind and gentle but a few years ago I had a doctor here who was quite aggressive and forceful with an internal ultrasound despite me asking her to inform me of her actions. This has led to a lot of anxiety around OBGYN issues, so I have not been back and it took a while to seek proper care that I needed outside of this clinic. I regret that experience, but the office looked clean, comfortable, and had majority nice staff. I felt cared about and safe while I was here most of the time. They do their best to help. read more

I don't understand why a bunch of reviews had negative things to say about this place, it was great! I had gone in to get the implant NEXPLANON and needless to say I was a bit nervous going into this place. I would recommend going in a bit earlier than your appointment time because if you're new, like I was, then you'll have to fill out paperwork. Tiffany was the girl who helped me in the back. She was so nice and walked me through everything that would happen in the next few minutes. She even taught me the different birth controls and the levels of efficiency (I had one of the most effective ones). The only downside to my appointment was that one of the two nurse practitioners weren't able to make it in and so they only had one working. I had to wait a couple of hours but Tiffany kept checking on me and apologizing about the wait, I really didn't mind it since it's nothing they could control. I think the nurse practitioner that I had was named Sarah? But the moment she came in she introduced herself and apologized some more. I felt bad that she was working on all the patients by herself. The application itself was less than 10 minutes. She cleaned my arm, injected a numbing serum, then injected the implant into my arm. It was covered and I was out a short time later. Everyone in the office was so polite and answered any questions I had. I have to go back in a few weeks for a Pap smear but this place is definitely different than the what other people may say. read more

I upset with this clinic and the whole process. I set up an appointment couple weeks ahead so I wouldn't have to worry. I then go into the clinic and they say they have no record of me or my appointment and they start to blame me saying I must of called the wrong number or set it up at a different clinic and I know I didn't. so I call the number they gave me the same number I used before and had to set up a new appointment. Now when I'm on the phone talking to the lady and she tells me they have record of me and that I did have appointment but I canceled by text. First of all I didn't know you could text planned parenthood!! And second I never got a text so I have no idea how I could cancel my appointment. Their service was wonderful. They made me feel very comfortable even though they knew I was stressed. This was my first time so I had no clue how the process of this would work. I just wish I was notified about how confidentiality works for insurance because I didn't know you had to call your insurance beforehand, so I had to pay out of pocket which really made me upset because i had to drop 800+ which was disappointing. read more

Such a great, friendly center! Every staff member was extremely helpful, funny, and sensitive to our situation. It made the whole experience a lot easier than I had expected especially since I had gone in really apprehensive and shy. I even witness a poor girl, on the verge of tears might I add, who's insurance didn't quite cover the medical requirements, but instead of turning her away at the front desk, they continued to help her. Regardless of what situation you're in and wether you're in there alone or with some support, the staff is well informed, kind, and definitely more than capable of taking care of you. Great service! The nurses and Doctor was nonjudgemental, intelligent, competent and most importantly everything was free! (HMSA) I came in for a checkup, but I said I also wanted an nexoplanon (BC implant in your arm), and it costed nothing and I had no pain afterwards. It took about a couple hours from in/out it of appointment but I am so happy and overall my life has improved since getting that implant (no periods, YAYA!). Make sure you schedule ahead and have all your insurance information with you. Wish there were more PP locations in Hawaii like near Waikiki or Diamond head. read more

I came to planned parenthood with an emergency when my IUD was coming out and I had to go through a procedure to remove it and I was very thankful for the fact that they saw me last minute. I figured I'd stick with them as my prescribers for my birth control but the incidents that have ensued for the entire day today are definitely not okay. My prescription had ended for my birth control so I went in 3 months ago to renew my prescription which I got. Cool. And then I ran out of my 3 month pack and I was trying to pick up a new pack on CVS when I had found out I had 0 refills and needed to talk to my provider which was planned parenthood. Not cool. Apparently according to the receptionist there was an error and she'd let the clinician know what happened and see if they could have it pushed through. It went through but tell me why no one from planned parenthood called to tell me that my prescription was being changed to a different pill. I'm stuck on day 2 with no protection and now I have to wait for a third because while this happened planned parenthood's closed and there's literally no appointments available until the 16th. Honestly if you can just have your obgyn's handle prescriptions cause at least they'll most likely be easier to contact and to make an appointment with and won't change your prescription and not tell you. read more

Livid. Today day I had a 1pm appointment, I arrived on time. At exactly 2:45pm I was still sitting, undressed in the exam room still waiting to be seen. At that point I just got dressed and headed out. I had another appt at 3. Waiting almost 2 hours to be seen when you have an appt is a bit much. Basically wasted 2hrs and work time. Would you come back to a restaurant if you made reservations only to be served 2 hours later? The staff just looked at me with blank faces and said "sorry" snarkly. But everyone was kind of just standibg there. It wasn't busy, no one was in the other room I checked because the room I was in was the one at the very back. I feel like PP has a lot of negative old reviews so I felt the need to chime in some positivity from my past two experiences so far. I booked both appointment me online (yes you can do that! And I highly recommend it since they send you reminders!) for in the morning as early as possible since I know the wait time can be a bit long since I assume they're understaffed a bit. I couldn't get in to a regular OBGYN for MONTHS! I'm a young woman who wants to take care of her health, it doesn't need to wait that long. SO! First time I came in for an annual exam , i think on a tuesday morning, I waited maybe 15 mins. Second time , on a Monday quoted me a 40 min wait at 8:50 am appt, but only waited 20 mins. Honestly though, it's an air conditioned, clean, and wifi-available waiting room, so I really didn't mind! **note- I've discovered there is usually a wait not only because of possible lack of staff, but because they try to be as thorough in answering any questions you may have and respectful of the time you may need to take for whatever procedure you might be there for. Moreover, the second time I went in for an IUD procedure, but I became a bit overwhelmed and it just didn't work out for me. My NP Rachel and nurse Jessica were so incredibly nice, calming, and reassuring. They're EXACTLY the kind of people you want on a staff at PP for simple exams and more complex procedures alike. Honestly, forget a regular OB/GYN. I don't mind coming here if it means i get to experience guaranteed top-notch quality care and service. Thank you so much again ladies! The manager Chellsea D. is rude and an immature bully. There is no structure of professionalism. She laughs loud in the hallway and makes patients feel uncomfortable. She picks on her employees and she is very rude. There has been blood on beds, floor and even on clean instruments. Do not go to planned parenthood Honolulu. They are unsanitary and Unorganized. The wait time is really long and few workers actually working. I have noticed a Medical Staff member on her phone behind the nurses station. I overheard employees complain that "Tanisha" will not take back patients even when it is busy. I have noticed multiple urine cups in the restroom at the same time. From the few times I been to the Honolulu clinic I've noticed multiple OSHA and HIPAA violations. I spoke with a previous employee. They said Chellsea the manager put a fetus back together after an abortion procedure and she has photos to prove it. Please do not go to the clinic for any procedures they are not clean and they are insensitive. read more

After my consultation, I was left in a room for another 45 minutes, even after I left to find an available nurse or doctor to let them know that I was waiting. I was here to refill a previous prescription, nothing major...I like their staff and the new office, but the wait times would have to improve for me to recommend this place. read more

I love Planned Parenthood of Hawaii! This place has been a god send for me since 2005. They came to my high school to do a presentation and I cannot thank them enough. Without that presentation, I never would have known what it was or known that we (adolescents) could use it as a resource. It has been a saving grace for the majority of my adult life. Recently moved back to Hawaii and came back to get my depo reinjection. Despite having been out of the system for about 3+ years, the staff was friendly and helpful and allowed me to get back on track! A HUGE mahalo nui loa to Julie, Clinician Jennifer, Jessica & Patty! Thank you all for making my experience wonderful. From reception, check-in, waiting, taking vitals, etc. Julie was patient, friendly, non-judgmental, funny, knowledgeable & thorough. if u dont have to come here DONT!!! I had the WORST experience ever!!! I am going to be very honest just so no one else has to go through this.... so my story begins with a positive pregnancy test... (I have a 9 month old son already) therefore you can guess why I wanted an abortion. I called... I got the machine... they called back the next day. great right? well I thought so too.....at the time. so anywho I went to the office lets just say my appt was at 10:30am I didn't see anyone till 2:00pm. then they make you watch a dvd blah blah procedure time... they say im 6weeks about to misscarry... I thought great! long story short I didn't have a miss carriage so I went back to my OB they found a heart beat... SAY WHAT! yea so now im almost 12 weeks and might have to pay more for an abortion because im so far along... anywho I called again to schedule an appointment... got the machine big surprise... I call everyday for 3day (Thursday, Friday, and Monday) I didn't know if they were open on the weekend. anywho they still haven't called back... if I could HATE a service... I HATE THEM!!! read more

I'd give them 0 stars if I could. You call. And call. And call. And call. And call. They will call you back "within a day" - and they use that term as literally as possible, sometimes 6-8 hours after. And even after you tell them that you need to be called back in the morning, they don't. So you have to keep calling. And leaving messages. And calling. And leaving messages. Finally they wise up and realize that they need to call you back in the morning, but not until after you've left them a semi-nasty message about how busy you are and that they keep calling in the afternoon when you're at work. If it were a restaurant I would have given up after one try, maybe two. And then write a nasty Yelp comment. Well, this is the equivalent. If I didn't need their services, I wouldn't have bothered. But it's probably because they know that they're the only ones in town, they don't really give a sh*t about customer service. read more

Ever since I moved to O'ahu from Hawai'i Island in 2007, I've been coming here to do my annuals and while I thought it was pretty bad before, it's only gotten worse. I don't find my experiences there to be so horrid that I have to give one star, but their service definitely doesn't warrant anything close to three stars. The one thing that I hate the most about Planned Parenthood Honolulu is that they don't ever answer the phone OR call you back. When I got my last check up, I also got the HPV vaccination shot and they told me that I needed to call and schedule the second series closer to the time. So I did and when I tried calling to make my appointment no one ever called me back or answered when I continued to call to set it up! From time to time, they would call me back (but I wouldn't answer), and when I would try to call back, AGAIN NO ANSWER. The system is ridiculous, in that, if you're not going to call back your patients, why even have them leave a frickin' message in the first place?! WASTE OF TIME and cause of COMPLETE and UTTER frustration. UGH. And not to mention, the last time I was there, I stood at the check-in window for five minutes while the two receptionists proceeded to chat. There were multiple times where one of them could have acknowledged me or helped me, but even after looking my way, they continued on with their conversation. Sheesh. Someone needs to teach these PPH people a lesson in customer service, because they sure are lacking!! read more

I have to say, I am extremely impressed by the staff and service I received at the Honolulu Planned Parenthood office. I called and was able to schedule an appointment within a week of my call. Lady who helped me schedule my appointment made it quick and painless. When I went to my appointment, I had to fill out a few forms since I didn't have insurance, and it gave me a huge discount on my visit and prescription pills. They saw me right on time for my appointment and the medical assistant was friendly and efficient. The nurse practitioner was so sweet and walked me through the best options for my birth control. I was out of my appointment with my pills in hand within a half hour. I really appreciate the effort of the staff to make sure my appointment was efficient and as painless as possible. read more

Love the ladies who work here! Wait time is a little long but they make sure you know what's going on in your procedures and really do care about your experience. I went in for an IUC insertion. Rachel walked me through the whole process as she went and Laila made sure I was comfortable before and afterwards (including a heating pad, juice, crackers, and water.) I was given an information packet that they went over with me, they answered all of my questions and didn't take any of them as ignorant ones. The overall process was quick and easy, Rachel knew what she was doing and made sure I knew what she was doing as well. Highly recommend to anyone getting birth control :) read more

Absolutely dissatisfied with the service here. Not only was the lady who helped me not nice at all, they literally wasted my time & gave me a bunch of FALSE EXCUSES. I had an appointment scheduled, a few days before they call to see if I want to come in on a earlier day. I refused due to what I was going in for. I went in on my schedule day/time (I also received multiple text reminders/a confirmation phone call) & I was told that my appointment was moved to a later date...the clerk told me I didn't answer my phone when they called to reschedule my appt & that didn't happen. I told her I was suppose to be seen earlier but chose to keep my appointment' & she wanted to argue w/ me that it didn't happen that way. No empathy what so ever that they basically WASTED MY TIME & have no consideration for anyone's time and mind you they weren't busy there was 2 other ppl in there at that time. After leaving I received a text from them that I "Missed my scheduled appointment" wtf? Now with my new appointment I never got any text reminders or phone calls. I'm not sure if she input my name wrong or what but something is very fishy read more

FUCK THIS PLACE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME I went in because I had a UTI and all I needed was antibiotics. I dont make a lot of money so they recommended somewhere that was supposedly less expensive. I go to the other place and come to fubs out they are more expensive, all this time the infection is only getting worse as is the pain. So the following day I go back and was just going to pay the money to get it taken care. I tried the previous night to either call or go online to make an appointment, both attempts were unsuccessful so I go back the next day and come to find out they only kill babies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so they recomnend yet another place. They said the ladder was less expensive and they had several doctors that would be able to see me. NOPE. so with my fourth visit to the doctor my UTI is still growing and by this point has probably reached my kidneys. So to sum it up the staff are unknowledgable, and sent me on a wild hunt to get this taken care of, and it still isn't. FUCK PLANNED PARENTHOOD DONT EVER GO THERE. read more

+They give out morning after pills like candy yay. -The nurse practitioners here are not well trained and inexperienced. The one I saw had only 3 years and managed to insert the speculum so harshly I wanted to jump off the table. Never have I had a worse experience with an obgyn. My vagina still hurts!!! I asked for them to remove my iud and they were unable to do so. I asked for them to give me a Pap smear and they said no. I will never return and you should cancel your appt. Unless you like to wait for 2 hours, physically be hurt, and not actually get what you need. read more

WARNING SUPRISE BILL. So i've been here a couple times first time was in 2013, to pick up birth control when i'm uninsured, and well when I was a student my income was extremely low, 2 years ago, thats when I asked how much I had to pay they said on the sliding scale it was free, and I could make a 'donation' if I wanted, so of course much appreciating the bird control I donated the $20 I had on me. They at no point said we are going to bill you 20 $ per month for the birth control and a visit fee 2 years later, in a surprise statemen. However they get one star because today, 2015, two years later, I get for the first time a bill requesting money, not small money either, $245, right before christmas, wow, marry christmas to me from Planned Parenthood, saying i'm outraged is about right, for one I was told it was free at the time, otherwise no way would I choose to receive this bill 2 years later on christmas and also I wouldn't have bought '6months' supply at one time, seriously Planned Parenthood, what gives? Today we walked in to the planned parenthood without an appointment and expecting not to get in. But, the receptionists got us in, every person we met was so kind and friendly. We came back in 2 hours for an appointment and waited for a bit, but hey, they had a good movie playing, and we were just so appreciative that they even considered taking us today. They mentioned they were a little understaffed, but I could clearly see they were doing there very best, working hard, and were so considerate every step of the way. Nurses that did the initial consultation were so helpful and weren't rushing me at all, even though I knew they had a lot going on, and I had a phenomenal physician!!! Super informative, super kind, and super professional! Both my husband and I felt super comfortable and relaxed under her care! Nexplanon has never been such a pleasant experience until today! Bottom line, we so appreciate all the hard work every person is doing there, and we totally get it, things run a little long at times and it's hard to keep a schedule, but hey, I'd rather have people that give me quality time to answer all my questions than to rush it all just to keep a schedule. The receptionist in the front checked me out with no questions asked and even more, it's places like these that truly help those of us without medical insurance and such, so when you consider just how much they really do help and how much money it didn't cost me, all we can do is say, Thank you. It was my first time at this planned parenthood location, my all around visit was ok. My nurse and my nurse practitioner were both very nice, respectful women who gave me more than enough information and logic towards any question I had. However, when I first walked in to fill out the new patient forks I was greeted by a blonde woman named Cindy. I honestly feel she did her job in a very mediocre way. When I got called into the back room she started to explain insurance to me (I had just left my old job with insurance therefore I was not covered at the moment) she informed me I was no able to get the medical attention and right off the back assumed I had no money and was just trying to get free stuff. As soon as we finished discussing my income and insurance, and she walked back to her desk. My friend was sitting in the waiting room, and heard her make a snide comment and snicker under her breath to her coworker. I felt as if she was treating me in a demeaning way because I had recently left my job and had no insurance. Being a woman , coming to this clinic I felt very judged and insecure after the comments she had made. Update: came back to the planned parenthood on s king street today and they were just as rude. It was a different person. A male guy at the front desk. But still extremely rude, no good customer service here. APPARENTLY EVER. this clinic needs to be taught how to speak to people read more
