The front office was rude, refused to accept any responsibility for entering the wrong appointment time . This was /is a very time sensitive matter and already very emotional, the office staff needs to be trained better and have some compassion. Refraining from sharing their judgement would be great too! You get what you pay for. Unfortunately it was recommended by a doctor at Kaiser that I try the Mirena. I had the device put in by the attending doctor and it caused bleeding for an entire month, so I returned to have it removed. When I returned, Dr. Jenny and another nurse were in the room supposedly removing it, but she was down there for a very long time and whatever she was doing caused an extreme amount of discomfort and pain. It also caused worse bleeding than I had prior to the procedure and a loss of tissue as well. I had to visit the ER to have an ultrasound done after all of this. I refuse to return to this location in the future because of all of the complications. I have pictures and additional records of all of this. read more

Very nice people. I had my nexplanon taken out here and was scared coming in bc when I got it put in somewhere else I felt everything, but here they made sure I was fully anesthetized and I didn't feel anything. They quickly removed it only thing I felt was the pinch for the anesthesia. Was able to make a quick and easy appointment. Lily was great specifically. Would recommend, and more than likely will be coming back to put in a new nexplanon at some point in the future :) read more

Just go to midtown if ur looking to walk in ... they will get u in asap, all the staff I met are super sweet. North highlands was empty I was the only one in there and they said they don't take walk ins? Which is odd because every other planned parenthood in the area does. If I knew that I wouldn't have wasted my time but no way for u to know you don't see it online. i've been here twice in the last year, both times were good experiences. the first, i believe they were training so i had someone watch as she took my blood & such. this last time, today, the lady who took my blood was a superstar. i did not feel the poke or draw of the needle, she communicated & made me feel comfortable. i had one other lady go over some paperwork with me but the lady who did the actual blood draw was the best physician or whatever you call it i think i've ever had even at my regular doctors. go early, schedule an appointment & its in & out less than an hour. read more

The front desk ladies are extremely rude and made me uncomfortable the entire time one of them told me since I was 8 minutes late even after I called they couldn't take me but then the actual doctor came in and told me they could test Me no problems(mind you, there was only me and one other girl there) I was in extreme pain and the same woman that had attitude at the front desk who said she couldn't take me took my pee sample after the doctors swabbed me and had hella attitude that time too. WILL NOT SUPPORT PP EVER AGAIN. I have been going to and donating to planned parenthood for 12 years, today I had an appointment Because I have a large and sore breast lump. After driving for an entire hour, I was 10 minutes late due to traffic. There were literally three people in the waiting room and they said they couldn't see me. The nurse is behind they said, which means they wouldn't have gotten to meet at my scheduled time anyways, do they ever really though? Place does not help people when they are really in need. I scheduled me an appointment, spoke with someone from the front office, was told that I could be seen for an initial fee of $70.00!-$80.00 dollars. Great! So I took time off work, went down for my visit to be told that it would be $120.00 just to be seated in the back room to speak with the doctor, then any tests after that would be an additional charge and of course a charge for any medication. As I'm being told this I'm reading a sign that's posted right in front that states " No matter if you don't have medical insurance or not you will be seen. Not rating the quality of the NP/Physicians, but the facility itself. This PP looks like it really needs donations for upgrades. I understand the need to be where your patients live, but they really need to maintain the conditions of the facility and privacy. For instance, change the exam bed coverings when they get worn out or reconfigure the waiting room so that not everyone is in your business when you check in. There's a few other issues that bug me that I don't see at other clinics or docs in a box. The wait isn't bad either - maybe 15 minutes beyond my appt. time. Respectful and endearing staff. PP is an awesome place for everyone. I can't imagine what the world would be like without them. Also, they're one of the very few places that are open on a weekend day. I came in this morning and the staff here is so rude, they make you wait in line and just stare at you. There is no greeting when you walk in or nothing. I had to say something to them first for them to acknowledge that I was even here! It's almost like you have to feel ashamed for just being there! I do not recommend this clinic. I have had a yeast infection for 6 months now and I still have not received necessary care to help me. I've had two Pap smears and here I'm again tonight in constant pain from vaginitis. I have not gotten the right treatment plan for my vaginitis and I don't know what to do. I'm in so much pain right now I can just scream by only met with an uncaring group of people who know nothing about gynecology yet they are supposed to. I do not recommend this clinic. read more

Ohh this place is terrible. From the get go, my appointment was a horrible experience. I checked in and was first told my chart info was wrong and was accused of giving them the wrong info...then they looked through their computer system and realized it was because they had made duplicate charts for me...okay. I was annoyed but I get it mistakes happen. I was there for a pap smear and since I had an abnormal one the previous year I told them my last doctor recommended me to get one for the next few years to be safe. They told me they would not give me one and accused me of lying. So I PULLED UP MY KAISER MEDICAL CHART on my phone and showed them. It literally said in the notes "patient is recommended to get yearly Pap smears for the next five years." They still refused to give me one and said they would have to talk it over with a supervisor. The girl came back with major attitude and told me "you're lucky you can have one." WHAT?! I told her the person on the phone making the appointment KNEW that's why I was there and she again said it hadn't been five years so she wasn't sure why they even agreed and I told her it was because my doctor had recommended it. It was like going in circles and she had a total attitude. Like what woman is just trying to get a Pap smear unless they absolutely have to. She then told me, despite me having an appointment that since they were, "going to do to the Pap smear despite me not even needing it" (she kept rolling her eyes) it was going to be a longer wait and to go back out in the waiting room. I made the mistake (or blessing) to ask her about the gardisal vaccine and she laughed and told me I was "too old" (I'm in my mid 30's) and said "your insurance won't pay for that" and wait for it....."and it's really expensive and I doubt you can afford it." I left. I legit said I'd wait outside and left. Called my insurance and changed to an actual gynecologist on the way home. I got a new doctor and she ended up being the best gynecologist I've ever had and guess what...she said it would be a great preventative measure to get gardasil (I'm not too old, I still had an entire decade to get the vaccine) and my INSURANCE COVERED IT. What a joke. I will never, ever, go to a Planned Parenthood after that. What a horrible experience. Planned Parenthood do better. read more

I hate to complain and personally mention but I can't get ahold of the office health manager.. not sure if Jenny was new or not.... But I've been getting my depo shot for about 5 years off and on through planned parenthood but my goodness this time the shot hurt so bad I could feel her wiggling the needle in my arm and what felt like was jabbed right into a muscle like it was almost touching my bone. I have never received my shot on the very top of my arm where it nearly met my shoulder. My arm is in so much pain I can barely lift it up. I think the people there are working hard and doing their best to help others lead safe, healthy lives with choices about parenthood. Bravo, I applaud you. But I HATE going here. Absolutely hate it. They are severely understaffed and underfunded, so even if you get here an hour before it opens, expect to wait in line for up to four hours with other suckers and their screaming, bored children. Make an appointment way ahead of time. I'm bad at that kind of forethought, so I usually wait until the last minute then have to deal with the lines. But you can get [anonymous] free or reduced-cost birth control, condoms, health exams, prenatal care, and advice. I always make a donation whenever I go... they really are helping the community by spreading knowledge and providing services that many can't afford. read more

Sure, the nature of a free/donation-based clinic makes it so that you may have to wait a bit longer than usual (and in the presence of people you may not want to be bffs with), BUT when you come to Planned Parenthood you will receive nothing but the most stellar service. They excel at being open, nonjudgmental, educated, and receptive to any and all inquiries. Along that line, they never, ever rush you out the door, despite the fact that they are consistently understaffed and overworked. These people really suck. The physicians are great, but I have been in here twice now and both times the front desk people never really seem to know what the hell they are doing and it's very frustrating. I just went in today because I had an appointment to get my IUD looked at, as I was having some complications that concerned me. I had some issues with my insurance last time I was in, so I was sure to mention that when I came in, and then asked if I needed to help her clarify any information. She said that at my last visit I was told I needed to contact my insurance, and then asked if I did so. I said no, because no one told me I needed to contact my insurance at my last visit, and I shouldn't have to-you literally just have to bill the receipt to my insurance and then they take care of it from there. But after waiting 40 minutes, the lady told me that my Aetna insurance wasn't going to cover my visit, and that I would have to pay in full. They also said this about my last visit, when I got the IUD inserted, so I had to pay $400 out of pocket because this place literally doesn't know how to bill insurance companies. The lady kept insisting that it wasn't them, it was my insurance, but that was proven to be false. I have contacted my insurance company and have already been told to submit reimbursement paperwork so that I can get my money back, because they DO cover what I came in for the past two times I've been to this Planned Parenthood. So now I have to go out of my way and fill out extra paperwork just because the ladies at the front have no idea how to bill insurance. I was so frustrated that I couldn't afford to get the care I needed to get today because these people don't know how to do their job, that I walked out in a fluster and cried in anger in my car before driving home. I have been to other Planned Parenthood's before and have literally never had this problem. They just took down my ID numbers for my primary and secondary insurance, and then sent the bill to them after my visit, and then my insurance would then bill me what was left over-Easy and simple. Don't know why it appeared to be an issue here. On top of that the place is not well kept and looks trashy. If you scheduled an appointment with this Planned Parenthood I recommend trying somewhere else. read more

They take an hour to get you seen. Even IF you have an appointment. No one tells you this when you call to make said appointment. Don't make an appointment unless you have an hour or more to kill, with nothing else planned. If I had been told this, I would have scheduled it differently. Update: it took 2 HOURS past my appointment time to get seen and receive what I came for. Why? They were double booked. No one bothered to tell me this until I saw the actual doctor. Hours of operation say open at 8am but you show up to doors locked still at 8:30am. Then that's when they decided to finally come to the door to say they're not open til 10:30 and I guess now would be a good time to put a sign on the door to let patients know. Because putting the sign on the door prior to opening would be too much to to do and definitely the most logical thing to do. read more

Reading some of these other reviews and I am dumbfounded because I have never had a problem with this location! And I come here quite often much rather come here than my actually physician for my reproductive health and I always refer this place to my friends and family. Front desk was friendly and got me checked in right away, which is always the case. I got called back within 15 minutes the medical assistant was very welcoming and friendly, which is needed in an environment pertaining to something so private. She asked me routine questions drew blood etc. I than waited for the nurse practitioner who was also extremely welcoming and informative! I asked a lot of questions and she answered all with great detail. She let me know what was going on and told me how we were going to take care of it and let me know about preventable measures. All in all I had a great visit! The staff here are always welcoming! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The staff are friendly, efficient, know their stuff, and actually care about you. no fancy equipment or creature comforts in the waiting and treatment rooms, but the people who work here are gems. I was no excited to come the first time to receive treatment for a medical issue, but they were so compassionate and smart about my treatment i was really impressed. They didn't just give my chart a cursory glance and then give me a paint by numbers diagnosis and solution, they did due diligence to give me the best treatment. When i came back a few months later for birth control i received the same quality of care and attention to detail. They thoroughly explained my issues and what my treatment options were, then did their best to involve me in choosing the treatment option that would work best for me.There just aren't enough good things to say. Highly recommend. I can't speak to wait times for walk-ins because i always make an appointment and am usually seen within 15 minutes of my appointment time. read more

Showed up here around 7:50 am (sketchy neighborhood) and waited for them to open. Their hours say open at 8 am. Doors werent unlocked for me and another woman till 8:05. So far already poor service, the woman who unlocked the door didn't look at us or even open the door as a courtesy instead she scurried away. So three of us fill out our paperwork and I'm the first in line, same woman who opened the door asks me if I have an appointment. I told her no and she said thay I have to wait for the Supervisor to get there at 8:30 or 9 am. She asks if I would like to make an appointment or wait. I told her that I will wait, ask if she needs my paperwork (figuring this will at least hold my place in line) she says no and to take a seat.
