10/16/2025: Teeth cleaning at McClellan Dental Clinic, i.e., my Dentist recommends I must have my teeth cleaned every four to six months. Aside, the Dental Assistant always gives me a "dental care package" filled with Bosch and Lomb wand tooth flossers, new toothbrushes, and a rubber, dental gum massager. read more

Member here for over 20 yrs. Ive been treated by caring staff and doctors every time and it helps me feel like its a team im on to optimize my health. Every concern is always addressed with kindness by Dr. Soriano and her team she works with. Words dont express my feelings so i will say i feel cared about and hopeful after each visit with the support i receive. The VA System seems to be the most proactive ever. Doctors from different specialties collaborate to give me the best care possible. I'm not saying that all the hiccups are cured. But I'm confident in the care I receive at both McClellan and Mather VA Facilities. read more

The Satellite section for active duty is great here, the customer service from the front desk is great here.... The VA enrollment part was unprofessional and bad. Go to the door and him and a friend/co worker are just talking crap and doing nothing. I had to wait about 20 minutes for them to get done socializing before he came out and finally helped me. I'm the VA enrollment section, the person in the office and the woman who was wasting time in the office should learn how to be professional while getting a refresher at customer service. read more

Great Medical Care ! I love the kiosk checkin, tho it works about 50% of the time. Just put your VA ID onto the optical reader, and your true check-in time gets recorded, not 5 minutes late waiting for some unfortunate soul who always seems to be ahead of me in the check-in line, gabbing away with the receptionist and complaining about something or another. Yes you have to go through the eligibility office your first time to a VA Clinic. Yes You need to bring your DD-214 and a drivers license. If you have a disability, you should bring proof of that in too. Then you can make an appointment. Co-Pays are determined and stored in their secure and confidential cloud. But your VA ID will always connect up with your current eligibility and Co-Pay. You might be eligible for a lower, or even zero co -pay. But until you apply through the regional VA Office and have a valid reason for it, you will need to live with the initial eligibility the Eligibility Office determination. Fortunately, McClellan has its own eligibility office right in the clinic. It's not a perfect system, and it should just use every veterans DD-214 to determine a low or zero co-pay. But it doesn't. In Northern California, they make you go through the extremely inefficient Regional Offices in Oakland, CA thru the USPS. Why they have two Regional Offices, I don't know. Between the two of them, it can take YEARS for them to get you the proper co-pay. Just don't give up. The Doctors are worth it. read more

I had an appointment here and this was the first time I have ever been to this clinic. I noticed that it was not very busy and had an interesting lay-out. The facility is easily accessible from both sides. They have a front and rear door. The lay out of the building makes it easy to get around. Sorry but I mean that for veterans who are not in wheel chairs. But with that said I have been to a few VA hospitals, clinics/CBOCs, regional offices, etc and this one has a pretty good lay-out of the facility. Getting here was a bit of a story. I actually went to their admistration building down the street. I thought that building was this clinic. Good thing they have signs posted on that building. Those signs lead me to the clinic and everything was well after that haha. Finding parking here is easy. They have those solar panels for shade and I assume that they used the energy to power some of the facilities power needs. Also at this VA Clinic it is right on an Air Force base or right next to one so you see a few Air Force personnel running around. I think it's pretty funny haha. It tripped me out because if this was close to a Marine base there would be more yelling and I would feel at home haha. In the main lobby they have a little cafe area to grab a quick bit to eat. I'm not from around here so this little cafe made it very easy and convenient to get something to eat. They also have coffee at this cafe. But if you want hard-dog coffee they have free coffee across the way from the information booth. When I first got in I went over to ask where compensation was and they guy at the booth was helpful. My experience at this VA clinic was good. I got what I needed done and they don't seem to have a lot of clients that come to this location. If I need anything else I would definitely consider coming back to this one. I say that because I live in Reno, Nevada. But if your close to this clinic I would recommend this clinic. I would have given five star rating but the girl at the front desk at the dental clinic with the brown hair tennis skin shortened stature was absolutely rude no personable skills at all whatsoever no hello no smile no nothing she had a huge ring on bring Donald Trump name in for no reason and needs to seek retraining customer service skills were a zero I watched as I sat in the reception room she has a particular favorite group of veterans you could tell by her reaction an interaction with the patients checking in she felt that the patient should wait on her till she was ready absolutely horrible customer service and I do believe she used to work at one of the doors passing out masks during the peak of covid now she thinks she's too good to do her job correctly and treat everyone with the same respect which she was not I sat in there for over an hour and watch how she interacted with approximately nine people and the diversity of her actions showed a lot she absolutely needs to be removed fired put back on probation she is only been there approximately 6 to 8 months otherwise the dental hygienists are absolutely awesome and the rest of the staff!!!!!!! read more

The Cardiology Department out of Mather Hospital has been pretty damn good . The psych Department is the one that's getting the low rating for me of one star . Everybody goes on and on how the veterans get depressed and suicide go up and that sort of thing and here I am telling them that I'm depressed and, because I'm a nurse I know a lot about these sorts of things and I've been a nurse in California for 30 years , I asked for Zoloft to help with depression and what do I get ? An appointment for 40 days from now . Hell in 40 days I could be dead for all they know . This is where they're showing their true colors at the VA and it's not pretty . What the VA needs to do is put some really caring people and change the system that doesn't jerk US veterans around like it does . I am sure there are dozens or maybe even hundreds of veterans you get depressed and their answer ends up being alcohol or drugs and suicide and it could all be stopped in his tracks many cases with the simple antidepressant Zoloft . Once again since I've been in a nurse for 30 years I know about this drug and it has very little side effects . read more

This is my primary and it has been great for my physical therapy and women's health. I've always had a great experience. Of course long lines for the laboratory for tests but plan ahead for that. They have out sourced me for my pregnancy and acupuncture for my back pain it is the best. read more

I know the VA gets a ton of negative reviews, but they are always fast and the establishment is generally very clean. Not all VA employees are real courteous, but from the looks of things, they deal with mentally ill veterans all day long. As far as hospitals go, this place seems typical of a low income/free clinic type hospital.. veterans deserve the best, hence the 3 stars. Could be worse I guess. My understanding is that the VA is no frills health care, so everything is just bare minimum. But for veterans, it's no cost healthcare for life.. not too shabby. read more

I've been a bit apprehensive about writing a Yelp review for this location for about 2 weeks now as being an employee here I have been concerned about biasness. I'm not new to the VA system as I have been stationed at two other locations in Northern California prior to moving here to Sacramento a month ago. AND I have a bit of a love/distaste relationship with how certain parts of them run. However after 2 weeks of back and forth mental debating I have decided to move forward and write one from my usual and customary balanced & unbiased nature. But have decided to approach it from an informational standpoint as that's the area I see it is in need of. And now a NOTE: this is not an endorsement for the VA but what it is, is my own personal and professional experience with this system on a whole and this location. The #1 and #2 complaints/issues/concerns that I hear personally from the veterans is that they cannot get in touch with the departments/doctors/nurses or people that they need to and when they need to AND that the system is so large that it's overwhelming & frustrating trying to find the resources and answers to the questions that they have. I couldn't agree more with them!!! Only I can't. I see it and I experience it myself as an employee in this too large for life system and its uber frustrating for me to see our veterans get to the point of frustration that they end up quitting and going without the healthcare that they deserve and desire. As an employee here the maze isn't any better either so I do get it only I do. I've had just over 3 weeks of exposure to this McClellan clinic as I said earlier; as an employee. However I am also able to observe and possess the mindset of being a veteran as well as the other civilians who frequent this outpatient clinic. What I can tell you thus far as it's still that "new broom" for me, and I am well aware that a new broom always sweeps clean; but what I can say so far is that the clinic is open and staffed. AND if you have a complaint or dissatisfaction then speak up and take it to the multiple management personnel who are here. And if you don't get satisfactory resolve then take it a step higher until you do. I've seen the other less than pleased reviews on Yelp on this location thus far and I do feel for them but you have more power than you know so use it. What is KEY to understand for all American's is that as a Veteran i.e.: ANY person who has enlisted in our military has a RIGHT and entitlement to access to healthcare provided by the Veterans Affairs Department. You'd be amazed at how many veterans I have and continue to encounter who are in their 60-80's who have just learned of their eligibility for these benefits. That in itself is a travesty as they served this country regardless of voluntary or not and so need to be aware of the services available to them in doing so. Now whether or not they choose to use them is entirely their choice or what their exact VA coverage's are again; not my domain. Mcclellan VA clinic serves its purpose but this is by far the worse military clinic I've been to. 3 years ago we moved to this area & was assigned to this clinic. After a few visits i contacted tri care and was given approval to see a civilian pcp! My husband has to continue to come here though. The service is slow and if you arrive early they will not see you until Your scheduled time! Lame!!!! read more

I recently started accompanying my father to his medical appts. My father has always had alot of confidence and trust in the quality and level of medical care he received from the VA. I wasvery skeptical. At the request of his nurse buddy. I agreed and saw why he believed he was receiveing top notch care. His pharmacist Dr Jaime and the student intern Andrey were amazing. They were professional, attentive, considerate,appreciative of my presence and very patient with him and me with my thousand questions. The next appointment was with his attending physician Dr. Doctor and once again professional, attentive, considerate, patient and very appreciative I was now involved in his heath care. I have called and received a call back in a timely manner. The staff in the pharmacy are also very kind and patient when helpinging the members. read more

My husband has been seeing this clinic for over 20 years since he retired from the military. His experience here has been excellent. Though not perfect it's one of the best he's ever experienced. Especial recognition to the wonderful Dr Frederico Docktor A caring, dedicated, extremely efficient physician. Appointments are usually easy to schedule and the time for each visit is very good. I love my doctor here. I never have to wait very long, they listen to me, and it's been a good experience. The reason I'm giving it a 3 is that the lab experience is frustrating. Just need to give a urine sample? Take a number. You'll likely wait an hour if not more, so try to hold it. Need to drop off a urine sample? Same. Take a number and wait. If you're lucky one number is called every 10 minutes. It takes forever to get people checked in. That said, the phlebotomists have been great. It's mostly the check-in process that's awful and the woman there isn't always particularly friendly. If you need lab work be prepared to wait. Thursday mornings at 7:30 have worked out fairly well but today I made the mistake of thinking I could drop off this urine sample without waiting. No blood work needed. Just a drop off. read more

Although my first experience with at the VA Outpatient Clinic was a pleasant experience, my second experience with the Podiatry clinic was NOT so pleasurable. I heard nothing but good about Dr. Martin. However, MY experience was NOT that good. She is rude, curt, and sarcastic to her patients as well as her nursing assistant. As I walked into her office, she was complaining to her assistant about a scheduling problem that had got me in to see her, that morning. After addressing that issue and that she'd see me, anyway, the first thing she said to me was, "I don't think I can do anything to make you feel any better than you already are." She interrupted me, and put her hand up to me to "hush" me, as I tried to as her if she'd like my records from my last podiatrist (Dr. Zimmerman with the Foot and Ankle Institute in Bakersfield - HIGHLY recommended!). She was brusque and impatient, as she asked me questions about my medical (foot) history and had walk and stand, so she could try tweaking my orthotics made by Dr. Zimmerman. What she did actually caused me MORE pain and I will NOT being going back to my follow-up appointment on April 13. I will find a local doctor in Galt/Lodi to refer me to a highly recommended podiatrist in Galt. read more
