This is my second time here and it's soo sad because I walk in and I was told the financial policy had been updated. So I asked what had changed and I was told they didn't receive any external funding anymore. It's sad because we are literally limiting affordable access to health services for what? I love planned parenthood especially the one here in Toledo. Service here is exceptional and intentional. A safe and educational space. It's really sad that I don't get a voice as regards my own health. read more

I had an appointment on 8/5/22 to have a copper IUD placed for the first time. I made the appointment online and was able to fill out all of the patient paperwork online as well. I was even able to upload photos of my ID and insurance card so all I had to do when I got there for my appointment was tell them I was there and waited in the waiting room to be called back. I was called back within five minutes of getting there, was asked to give a urine sample, then went into an exam room with Nurse Sammy to answer questions and get vital signs. All of the questions were expected for the kind of appointment I had. We went over any health issues to decide if I was a good candidate for a copper IUD and I was. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get it placed the same day of my appointment but fortunately I was. Once I had answered all of the questions the nurse took that information to the provider who was Nurse Practitioner Wendy. Nurse practitioner Wendy came in the room very quickly after I finished with nurse Sammy, and she brought all of the equipment needed to place the IUD. The placement was quick and not as painful as I was expecting. It was definitely uncomfortable as you would expect, but it wasn't anything unbearable and I felt very comfortable with the nurse practitioner who was placing it. I am a victim of SA so it is very rare that I am comfortable at OBGYN appointments. I have seen a lot of different doctors and nurse practitioners over the years trying to find an office that I am 100% comfortable with. I had found one recently in April here in Toledo but the wait to get an IUD appointment was months and I didn't want to have to wait that long. I had been to a different Planned Parenthood a few years before and remember always having good experiences there, so I decided to give this location a shot and I was very comfortable with everyone I came in contact with. Everyone was very polite and friendly, from the front desk to the nurse and the nurse practitioner who ended up doing the IUD placement, they all made me feel very comfortable and I would definitely recommend this place. As a medical professional with decent health insurance I still choose planned parenthood for my reproductive Health needs. The downtown location provides quick compassionate care. I prefer to use my benefits and cash to pay for services that also cater to women who would otherwise be without gynecological, reproductive, and preventative care. Prolife or prochoice... not my business, but what is my business is ensuring women have access to affordable comprehensive care for everything from cancer screening to birth control to STD screening. This is a great option that many women don't consider unless they aren't ensured. They DO accept most insurances and they have flexible scheduling that many private practices don't have. Consider donating or utilizing services so other women can also get the care they deserve. read more

Planned Parenthood has always been synonymous in my mind with compassionate, affordable womyn's healthcare - especially for the uninsured and underinsured. When times were hard, I sought care from them and when times were good I donated what I could. I have always supported this organization in any way I could. At some point during the dark years from 2016-2020, Planned Parenthood could no longer offer affordable healthcare, thanks to all-out attacks from an administration that sought to shut them down. At least, that's what I was told when I called for an annual exam I'd hoped to pay on their sliding fee scale, only to be informed it no longer existed. They specifically told me it was because they had been stripped of any government funding by a hostile administration. So, when I called them a few months ago, I had hoped this funding had been reinstated. No such luck. Out of desperation for a cancer screening I was well overdue for, I made an appointment anyway and the clinician was kind enough to give me a phone number to call for financial assistance with healthcare. I called, I left a message. No one ever called me back. This morning, a new symptom arose. Again, out of desperation, I called Planned Parenthood. Once again, I was told their fee is $265 - and I could pay the "low" price of $179 if I pay all at once (Seriously - how many people can do this?? Honestly, if I was a baller like that, I wouldn't be asking about their sliding fee scale and probably wouldn't be seeking healthcare in the inner city). By comparison, the for-profit clinic I was using when I had insurance is $224 per visit for a self-pay patient - $40 cheaper than the "non-profit" PP clinic. Not to mention, the PP scheduler displayed zero compassion and droned her way through our call like a freaking automaton, even as I literally broke down in tears over the phone because I was so completely stuck between a rock and a hard place, needing healthcare I cannot afford. It is beyond sad what this Planned Parenthood clinic has become. They used to be a beacon for humans with female anatomy who couldn't afford healthcare - now they seem to be operating on a for-profit business model that's gouging patients unlucky enough to fall through the cracks of our so-called healthcare system (job = no Medicaid/low pay = no money to buy healthcare). Also, I have to say I'm not a fan of the schedulers demanding to know my pronouns before they'll speak to me. While some may think this is a "woke" practice, I find it very rude and invasive that I would be expected to come out to a total stranger over the phone - especially when I'm dealing with a health issue! This is an outrageous practice that needs to stop. If I volunteer my pronouns/gender identity to a complete stranger, then that is my choice. Do not force me into this as a barrier to scheduling a health appointment. At the very least, this should be an invitation and not a demand: "Would you like to tell me your preferred pronouns?" NOT "What's your name, what are your pronouns?" My pronouns are a more complex discussion than the usual "trinary" options of she/her, he/him or they/them. I'm not getting into this with a random receptionist at a health clinic and I don't need the internal conflict of having to either lie to avoid further discussion or tell someone the truth when such a demand is made: it's none of your freaking business, just schedule my appointment please. Not to mention, it is completely unnecessary for the scheduler to know my pronouns since they will only be referring to me either by my name or "you" in our brief discussion. Luckily, I found a new beacon of hope today in the Neighborhood Health Association and booked an appointment with Navarre Park Health Center. The person I spoke to over the phone was very friendly, helpful and compassionate and thank goodness they offer a sliding fee scale. I wish I had discovered them sooner. Sadly, I was so loyal to Planned Parenthood that I couldn't imagine finding another affordable womyn's clinic before but I'm so very grateful I have found them now! read more

This location is so amazing, I just can't say enough good things about it. Due to a (hereditary) medical condition, I have to see my gyno pretty frequently (at least once a year, sometimes as much as once a week for several months on end). When I moved to Ohio I wasn't having much luck finding an OB/GYN that was accepting new patients and could work with my schedule, so I decided to give PP a try. At first I was put off because you can only schedule same day appointments (unless, I think, you want an STD or pregnancy test - I forget, but their whole schtick is in the automated answering service message). The good: Appointments are prompt and they move you out of there super quickly. Appointments that would have taken 1-2 hrs at my old gyno's office took 15 minutes at PP. They charge you on a sliding scale, and they take insurance. In my case, I went and saw them about a dozen times in a few months and never paid a cent, because I have insurance. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and puts you at ease. The waiting area is clean and comfortable, and so are the waiting rooms (although they won't have nice sitting chairs or cloth robes, like my gyno's office). Also, if you are coming back for another appointment say, next week, they can schedule you at the end of your appointment so long as it is for a FOLLOW UP, not a new thing. The not so good: If you want an appointment then you have to call the second that they open...as in, you should call them before they open and then just keep hanging up and hitting redial again and again. Sometimes this lasts for 10-20 minutes, and sometimes the appointments have filled up for that day (they won't schedule you ahead of time). They don't do abortions, either, but they can refer you to locations that do. All in all, I am really glad that I decided to take a chance on PP. read more

I know there is a lot of hype around Planned Parenthood but.................. I worked there as a practitioner, at this clinic. We were not allowed to discuss abortion We did help a lot of young people prevent unwanted pregnancies. We did screen for and treat and educate about sexually transmitted infections. We were one of the few places a minor could go for unbiased, no lecture reproductive health care. We could guarantee that information was not shared with anyone, including parents, without their consent (most of them consented by the way) I think the concept is wonderful. We, in that clinic, were not pro-abortion. We were pro-prevention. read more

There is a female doctor here that is not nice at all. I came in for plan b after being sexually assaulted (I didn't feel comfortable at the time telling anyone) and was recommended by her that I could just use a condom next time instead of of messing with my hormones. Like it wasn't already uncomfortable enough. If you're reading this please don't assume things. read more

i had a really great experience at this location. Recently had my well woman exam. Quick, easy, clean-great staff. efficient and respectful.

I have been getting my birth control here for over 2 years and have had nothing but great experiences. Had an IUD placed and the nurses were wonderful they are very knowledgeable and personable. The rest of the staff was great. I would definitely recommend going there for birth control and all other sexual health services they offer. It's also so easy to get an appointment considering they are open some Saturdays and past 5 some weekdays read more

Planned parenthood is a really great place and they the staff are very polite and give great advice I got my birth control removed here and they did a great job getting it out specially since the doctors office that I had it put it in at did it wrong but anyways it's a great place I highly recommend it read more
