You know I like you if I go out of my way to show people how amazing you are. You. You Plant Shop. I'm talking bout you. I love this little gem of a shop. I can always find something there, even when I'm 100% not looking for a single thing. I really love how they hit all the price points, from $4 and up, you can find something that is ok for your wallet. I love that the folks who work there have always been friendly and really knowledgeable. Every plant I've gotten from here has thrived and done very well, I highly recommend!

Since I've (unbelievably) never reviewed Plant shop Chicago, doing so on Earth Day seems apropos. I love this shop. I was skeptical, because succulents aren't my thing. But they have a lot more than succulents, thankfully. The first time I stopped in was back in December. I felt bad because it was near closing and though I'd only planned to go in for a minute, I ended up staying a good 10 past closing. Ozzy was cool though, and I ended up with two new plants, as well as a couple pots. Their plants are gorgeous and really well cared for. I got my monsters from here and it's doing well! When I come in here I eye the pothos but haven't picked one up yet. I got a few gorgeous pots here, too, and one super adorable owl pot that I am looking forward to getting our aloe plant comfortable in (ok, one succulent, but that was a mistake!). Can't go wrong by making a stop here. Street parking only, which may be pay parking in some areas (like on Elston), at least at some parts of the day. The store is filled with plants without feeling overwhelming crowded and these folks know their stuff.

If you like to collect Cactus and succulents then it's worth checking out this plant store. They have a nice selection of some unique species like their Gymnocalicium mihanovichii with buds and blooms and I got an Agave lophantha Quadricolor for a good price. They also have plenty of tropical houseplants that are not commonly found in big box stores. Beautiful ferns with nice aroids, some unique aglaonemas and philodendron.

The staff and team at the Plant Shop are great and knowledgeable. I bought my first big Monstera plant last year and sought their help in repotting to a bigger pot and get it to grow upright as it was getting heavy. I called ahead and spoke to Chance who explained best hours and days to drop off the plant. I brought it in last Saturday and Ozzy and Chance were there to further assist. Ozzy helped in recommending pot size, proper soil and various ways to stake the vines to help it grow upright. I was in no rush to get the repotted plant back and they said to have it back in a few days. To my wonderful surprise, Ozzy repotted it on the same day and I was able to pick it up next morning. I'm so happy with my new repotted Monstera and hope that I can continue to keep it thriving. They also had 15% off that weekend and I left with an adorable Peperomia. Thank you Plant Shop for your continued help ! You guys are great !

I decided to delve into becoming a plant owner, and I wanted to go somewhere I felt confident I would receive expert guidance on the execution of my plan to hopefully not unwittingly cause the execution of my plant!! I received great advice, and now we have a wonderful little plant in our home to hopefully succeed with for years to come. Thanks, Plant Shop!

This little shop is hipster hip! The line was longer than at Trader Joe's when we went to "check out" our Bird of Paradise (our lovely Gretchen). It was an arranged marriage, but true love in the end. This was one of the few shops in Chicago that had this gorgeous tall beauty. We snatched her and she was worth every penny

I've been using curbside pickup to get my plants, but I couldn't resist going in the store today. Plant Shop Chicago has a great system in place for social distancing. You wait by the front door for an employee to greet you and they will place you on a waitlist if there are more than 5 people in the store. The waitlist is online and allows you to see your place in line. It also sends you a message when it's your turn. I was able to sit in my warm car while I waited, but they also had a heater outside for anyone that wanted to wait there! Finally being able to go inside the store was a wonderful experience. They have so many unique plants and the staff are so friendly and helpful. They carefully package up your plants for safe transportation too. I left with 5 plants today, but I know I won't be able to resist getting more!

I love this local plant shop so much! I originally came here looking for a rare Raven ZZ Plant in 2019. I was so thrilled to find one after months of searching and so started my love with this shop. I have since gotten about 5 new plants from there and love the uniqueness of every single one! Prices are higher than you will find a Lowes or Home Depot because it is a local small business with some rarer options in store! Such a wonderful atmosphere, great staff, and wonderful sense of community.

The plants I left with! 6 plants and a pot/stand for $89! Not too shabby.

I just stopped by this place based on yelp reviews and it did not disappoint! There was a great variety of house plants and I left with about 6 of them. The person working there was genuinely nice and very knowledgeable of the plants I asked about. He even offered to carry the plants to my car. Great spot if you're looking for house plants! And if you're a plant newb like myself. I plan on calling them whenever I have questions

Best plant store ever. They have so many varieties of unusual plants! It's so much fun to go there. The cacti are amazing and if you buy a plant there they will plant in a new pot for you. Very professional. They know their stuff.

I visited the plant shop Chicago for the first time today and I LOVED IT!!! Upon walking in you are greeted with the most homey warm vibe ever, and an array of aesthetically pleasing plants. Also can we talk about how amazing the music playlist is! Anyway, I went with the purpose of buying some new plants and getting some questions answered for my school project, Elena was so patient and knowledgeable with answering all of my questions on pests in our area and teaching me about basic plant care.

Parking is pretty easy around the shop as there's free parking right across the street! This plant shop is a little smaller than the one I previously went to, but the plants did not disappoint! I felt like this shop had more succulents of varying sizes, which I really appreciated because I'm a sucker for succulents! They even have tiny baby looking ones which were soo cute. The plants here are a little pricier than plants sold at big chains, like Home Depot, but I believe they're pricier for a reason. All the plants are very well kept and cared for. They even have a little section where they show you the plants they are currently caring for that aren't even ready to be sold yet! I really appreciate that because you can observe the growing process and you know the plants are greatly cared for. They also have a back section with food, fertilizer, and other tools for gardening and whatnot :)

Plant Shop Chicago is AMAZING! THIS IS A MUST STOP PLANT SHOP for plant lovers! The staff is always so helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. PSC always has amazing plants and selection of accessories in stock ALWAYS. They have a great variety of tropicals, cactus, and succulents. PSC makes their own cactus soil mix and tropical soil mix which they mix in house daily. It is AWESOME soil. They have a lot of different substrates available in store such as perlite/pumice, coarse sand, gravel/lava rocks, etc. The vast array of substrates available at PSC are great for top dressing for plant staging, propagating plants, seed growing medium, or just making your own soil mix at home. PSC always has terracotta and different cool pots in stock as well. Also they sell amazing hot sauce, cool T-shirts, and offer free sweet stickers and Topo Chico on site as well. They have a loyalty program where you get $5 back for every $100 you spend. They just started shipping nationwide; so check out their website and order some plants. You won't regret it! The owners Ozzy and Juan are such great guys who love what they do; PLANTS!!! They are very active in the plant community and it is AWESOME!!! PSC does a lot of charity fundraising for the less fortunate, current issues affecting our nation, and much more via plant events/shows, live plant auctions, food and supply drives, and more. PSC is a huge advocate for of the Cactus and Succulents Society of Greater Chicago. PSC does weekly/bi-weekly Sunday live plant auctions via Instagram Live which they sell really cool plants. If you are a plant lover; you have to watch a Plant Shop Chicago Live Auction. It is awesome! Make sure to check your lag watching the PSC IG Live Auction so you don't miss out on the plant of your dreams or someone might snipe you when the timer goes off! PSC definitely are plant influencers and plant trendsetters in the community. They throw awesome plant events/shows like their annual summer block party, plant swaps, beer release/houseplant showing parties, and much more. Plant Shop Chicago is definitely the coolest plant shop out there! Plant Shop Chicago; thank you for all you do and more!

Also, it's cash only, and make sure you bring your own boxes to carry your plants. The volunteers are really nice and helpful here. Prices started at $3 for the smaller plants and went up from there. The organic green house not only offers children's and adult classes, they also have a wonderful community garden which is open Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm. it is also the only teaching greenhouse from the Chicago Park District, located within the grounds of Kilbourn Park. They seek to connect people to nature, teach sustainable gardening practices, and promote fresh and healthy food to people of all ages through garden-based programming. Kids can enjoy the Garden Buddies program for toddlers, plus the Harvest Garden and Eco-Explorers programs for youth. Adult gardeners can attend a continuing education series and other workshops sponsored by The Friends of Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse. Although the park is one of the smaller ones in the city, they have a soccer field, tennis courts, playground, basketball court, Kilbourn Park also offers different after school programs for kids and a summer camp that is quite good.

They do have a good sized field house here, with programming for a variety of age ranges, so it's worth checking out the CPD activities schedule. There's lots of green space, but also baseball fields, tennis courts, and a nice sized playground. The playground, too, serves a nice range of ages. But what I liked most about this park was the greenhouse and outdoor natural play area. There are places for kids to sit for various activities that take place here, an outdoor kitchen, and a large greenhouse. It's called a "teaching greenhouse", and is unique amongst Chicago parks (at least as of 2026). There's a program called garden buddies aimed at toddlers and I wish I lived closer to be able to have my child participate in it! There's also a plant sale each year. If all that weren't enough, an orchard--the first in a major metropolitan city in the US!--was planted in 2008. Apples, pears, and more--including the paw paw, an unusual, native Illinois fruit--grow on these trees. Currants, berries, and more have also been planted here. I'm excited to keep an eye on their events.

Darrel in particular went above and beyond. I was looking for flowers and plants for my balcony, and he took the time to walk me through everything: which plants would be safe for my dog (non-toxic was a must!), what would actually thrive given my balcony's sun exposure, and which options would be low-maintenance when it comes to bugs. It honestly felt like a mini plant class, and I left feeling so much more confident about what I was buying. On top of that, I brought in my orchid that I genuinely thought was a goner. Darrel and the team took a look at it that same day and managed to revive it! I was shocked and so grateful. After years of buying plants from the big box stores, I'm never going back. Fertile Garden Center actually cares about helping you succeed with your plants, not just making a sale. Highly recommend, and I'll definitely be coming back. And the speak Spanish!!
