I was brought back to the piercing studio around 6:30ish. I absolutely LOVE how the facility is by appointment only, and that they require you to wash your hands immediately upon coming in. Because it's appointment only, the lobby area was clear and there wasn't really anyone out there, which I really liked. The music wasn't loud either and it was enjoyable. The facility was extremely clean. Frankie was a gem. I was getting re-pierced and I was very nervous and anxious, and her vibes helped the nerves a ton. I let her know that I have a tendency to get swollen pretty quickly and more than the usual person, and she made sure to give me a longer post to account for additional swelling. Yes, it's a bit more pricier than your typical piercing studio BUT it's worth it and an investment; good work isn't cheap, cheap work isn't good. Their selection of jewelry is again, expensive but absolutely beautiful and high quality. I wish I would've gotten all my piercings done by Frankie! Let me explain: I came into Onyx Tattoo in New Braunfels looking for my son who waited until he was 18 to get a tattoo. As a parent this made me proud bc so many youths today don't have the patience to wait. I thought it would be a good experience for him and I to get one together. So after much research I landed on Onyx Tattoo. I met with two different artists, Ray and the owner, Jay. I want to emphasize the word ARTIST. Because that is exactly what they are. I gave them each an idea for a Christian project for my son and one for myself. I found some examples online and they said, great, I got an idea of what you want, I'll make it my own. That's exactly what they did. They each spent hours drawing and designing a one of a kind tattoo that blew our expectations away. When we arrived at our appointment they were excited to see us, they greeted us in a very friendly and professional manner, and the shop is so clean and organized. You felt like you were in an artist studio that had been meticulously sanitized. Each of our tattoos took the entire day to complete. During the experience, there was great conversation, some laughs, and just felt like this is the place I want to get work done in the future. I'm already planning on fixing/finishing another piece that another tattoo artist started but never completed years before. As I have gotten older, I've grown more picky about tattoos and what they mean. In my opinion, anyone in the Austin, San Antonio or New Braunfels market should come to this studio. You will find some of the nicest artists who are genuine people who love what they do. There is no better studio around. The work Jay and Ray did for my son and I was nothing short of fabulous. I want to give a shoutout to Vivo and the other artist there as well. I would trust either of them to do work for me as well. Best experience EVER! Remember folks, cheap tattoos aren't good, and good tattoos aren't cheap. However, I would say that their value is actually underrated. These same tattoos would have cost more in comparison to S. The shop is located on Fredericksburg road off of 410, and she shares her space with a tattoo shop next door. Parking was easy and accessible. Vanessa is a sweetheart, patient, and very professional. As I go through my ear piercing journey, she helped guide me where to start. Left helix is the beginning for me, and to add other piercings along the way as they heal - per her advice. And believe me, I am so glad I listened to her, the helix is a tricky one and takes a lot longer to heal because it's cartilage. I've had a troubleshooting and a post downsize appointment thereafter the piercing and she has been wonderful in assessing the healing. Love her shop- it's feminine with an edge, and super clean. Piercing is done in a private room. She prides herself on cleanliness. She carries and showcases nice ear candy, I didn't take pics of all. I received a nice aftercare kit with detailed instructions. The first day I went in, I only planned on getting one tattoo but ended up getting a second right then. A few days later, I came back for one more and ended up getting two that day. Her work is fantastic. She's really very knowledgeable and knows a lot about the different layers of skin and how tattoo art works with them. She takes an advanced approach, using tablet technology to layer the design perfectly and understands how the skin heals and responds. This also makes the process less painful. I used to use lidocaine when I get work done at home in Massachusetts. However I did not bring any on my work trip, and it hurt less with her than anyone else(even when I forgot my lidocaine) The tattoos came out even better than I expected, and people always compliment them. The other staff there are friendly too, and it's a relaxed, welcoming environment. I'm from Massachusetts and plan to fly back just to get more done by her. (Probably a big piece) If you're thinking about getting a tattoo done, Especially if it deals with Math or Physics. I'd definitely recommend making an appointment ahead of time and bringing a design idea. I like how she is very into what she does and not rushing to get the work perfect.
