We had an older model garage door opener attached to an earlier version of the MyQ Hub. After years of spotty performance of the Hub, the unit decided to start opening & closing the garage door on its own. The most recent incident caused the door to close on our SUV rooftop (CRUNCH/SCRATCH!!). One call to Mike at Platinum we got an onsite visit and clear reasonable quote for a new opener. Mike was able to start the work that same day. He installed a new LiftMaster head unit, performed tune-ups on both garage doors, repaired the damaged garage door section, and replaced the keypads and reconnected the MyQ setup. This is a follow up review. We had our GD repaired a couple months ago. Hardware replaced etc, $245.00. Three days ago nylon stem came loose, I didn't see any breakage, but due to the weight of the door I didn't try to make any adjustments. Called Platinum on the 29th, said someone would get back in 10 to 15 minutes. Called again on the 30th, said someone would get back in 10 to 15 minutes, emailed, then created service request via website. Still not a word. I do understand the current state of our environment, but a quick, "hello we have a backlog" would help. read more

Tim (President) came to my house at agreed upon time, he listened to my needs and accessed my situation. He did not try to "sell" me, but merely provided information and budgets around ideas. This was a Friday; by that afternoon & had an email summary & the quotes we discussed.....I called him back Monday after receiving his quotes and informed him we decided to just replace the springs at this time. While that could have been a disappointment for Tim, he didn't act like it was, but asked when he could come do that spring replacement, lined up a technician and he was at my house within 90 minutes, replacing the springs. They calibrated my motor/chain, checked the other moving parts and charged a very fair price. My husband and I recently renovated our 1950s ranch home and decided to keep (but repaint) the single-car garage that we had despite it being a manual-entry hinge door. Platinum did a great job at our house. They took out our old door and opener (which wasn't working). The old opener would wake up our kids. This new one they installed is super quiet. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the different manufacturers. I was given a price to replace the control board or the whole motor. Knowing my current motor was having issues and fried in such a short time I opted for a new motor by a different manufacturer with no pressure from Mike.
