Happy Earth Month... As I try to condense and pare down and accept the unwanted items that are still in good condition and see if I'm able to find a better home that someone will love and not putting in the landfill. Plato's Closet is a great way to do so as they will purchase your items though mind you they are pretty full so are now pretty selective with your items. Many are targeted for teens and younger crowds with that are searching for specific brands and styles. The process is easy you check in with your iD and information and wait until you see your name on the chalkboard to which they will go over with the items they have chosen and you do still have the option to sell your items to them on this visit they seem to have wanted my eco bags which I had a bunch that they now are still in excellent condition along with some shoes. If you do find items there as well the money you receive from them items you just sold will go into a discounted price which makes it a win win in these situation and not filling the landfill with items that could have been avoided. Thank you!

Did anyone think Plato's Closet would be filled with white tunics and gold leaf crowns? I was probably hoping that. But nope, no white tunics, sorry. Plato's Closet is a secondhand, buy and resell store. It mainly accepts brand name clothing that is fairly new and "in style" with the younger generation. In other words, what sells the quickest. Did Socrates approve? Plato's Closet is located at the corner of Beretania and Piikoi St. in a small lot with Territorial Savings Bank with a decent amount of parking. Entrance is from Beretania. I brought my wife here as she had clothes to sell. The clerk said the buyback amount is 60-70% off retail and a third of that value is what you get back. Obviously, you're not selling your clothes here to make money with that amount. It's an alternative to donating your clothes down the street at Goodwill. Getting cash now vs. tax break later. I haven't been here in a very long time. I was going to say 10 years, but apparently, that's how long Plato's Closet has been open. The inside looks the same as I remembered with a majority of women's clothing, but still a decent amount of Men's. The store is very organized and easy to browse. Prices range from $7-12 for shirts, and $18-22 for Levi's jeans, which is about half off from Macy's when it's on sale. Only interesting thing was a 2005 Pro Bowl XXL Reyn Spooner shirt, but I wouldn't wear it. That one can go to the vintage store. Overall, Plato's Closet is a nice option to get rid of unwanted clothes if you're looking for physical cash in hand rather than donating them down the street for intangible tax deductions, and a nice option to purchase "gently used," brand name clothing. The staff here were very nice, helpful, and informative. I'm ready to declutter some of my things at home, and Plato's Closet is a good place...if I actually find anything that's with the current trend.

Tried to sell some old work clothes here but they didn't want them. After walking around and checking out their clothes I realized my clothes were too formal it wasn't their style. They were looking for something more cute and casual. It only took them a few minutes to inspect my clothes it was pretty quick. As a buyer I could tell why people like this store. They have a great variety of selections including bikinis, yoga pants, sports bras, backpacks, etc. Everything was clean and in great condition. You couldn't really tell those are used items. Small parking lot outside. Entrance to the parking lot is on Beretania st and exit on Piikoi st.

This review is based solely on my experience with the staff during my visit today…read more I've shopped at Pink Box multiple times in the past and have never had any issues, which is why this experience was disappointing. My mom and I stopped in because she was looking for earrings. She had mentioned before that Pink Box has cute selections at reasonable prices, so we decided to browse. While she was looking at earrings and pointing out styles she liked, I was helping her look through them. For context, I don't even wear earrings since I have large gauges, so I wasn't shopping for myself in that section. Afterward, I moved over to the claw clips and was looking through some butterfly clips to see if they came in matching colors. A sales associate approached us and asked if we needed help. We politely said no thank you and continued browsing. What made us uncomfortable was that after that interaction, the employee remained very close to us and appeared to be watching us the entire time. When we moved to a different area, she followed. Whether intentional or not, it felt as though we were being monitored because she suspected we might steal something. My mom and I both noticed it, and it made the shopping experience uncomfortable. We are paying customers who have visited this store before and have never given anyone a reason to be suspicious of us. I understand that retail employees have a job to do, but there is a difference between being attentive and making customers feel like they're under surveillance. Unfortunately, because of that experience, we didn't feel welcome during our visit.

Definitely worth a stop if you're into kawaii, Japanese goodies and stationery, but also could be worth being aware of which characters are currently featured. A lot of the items, such as their various stickers, are reasonably and fairly priced -- more so than other similar shops. Vivid print quality too. Other items were tad too pricey for me to justify (e.g. $8 for a very tiny thin canvas drawstring bag and other small pouches in the $30+ range).

Shopping in Chinatown, Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. My mom was on the hunt for Year of the Dragon shirts for my sister in Colorado, my nephew, and my nieces. We went to Walmart, Don Quijote, Dillingham Shirt Outlet, and Maunakea Street in Chinatown. She found shirts at Jessica's Jewelryand Gifts, but she didn't get a shirt for my nephew's girlfriend. In a panic, mom called me to go back to Jessica's. They were sold out. Only XL gray shirts were left. I entered Maunakea Marketplace, where I had dropped her off the other day, but she didn't walk far enough in... to get to YaFangShi Fashion. On the day before Lunar New Year, I saw many shirts of various colors and different designs hanging outside a shop! Inside, the clothes were neatly folded, and the dresses were hanging for better viewing. OMG... It was like t-shirt heaven! The shop was called YaFangShi Fashion. The friendly owner introduced herself and said that her name was Lian and that she's been here for 24 years! I had passed by often... and even bought a lavender-colored Cony umbrella, but didn't know the name of the shop. Looking around, Lian even had dresses, tops, jackets, footwear, accessories, and pants! I got a navy blue, medium-sized Year of the Dragon shirt for my nephew's girlfriend and gave it to mom to give to her on Lunar New Year. Everyone was happy! Yay! Happy Lunar New Year of the Wood Dragon!
