First off the people they have working are very unprofessional and seem to just feed off of each other, i heard f*ck every 5 seconds coming from the front desk while this is supposed to be a children friendly environment. Seems like a lot of their employees don't have manners either, no "welcome in" or even an "excuse me" while walking by their fine with just shoving people in the back to move. I usually never have an bad time shopping here but I didn't want to shop here after how I was treated. These two young girls working yesterday were so rude, I hope they are both fired by the time I shop there again. Their energy stinks. I walked in with a small bag quietly, she glared at me and yelled "ITS 5-6 HOURS FOR CHECK INS" I said "ok thats cool no problem!" But why were u angry??? I said if they don't buy everything it could go to goodwill (they used to take it for u last time I donated but I guess policies have changed! This happened a while ago but this incident rubbed me the wrong way nonetheless. I visited this store to pick up some new clothes and I was helped to the changing room by a female employee. I don't quite remember what was said but I do remember the changing room door being slammed in my face, something about me "misgendering" the employee. I've never experienced such disrespect from an employee in my life. I do hope this comment steers away any hopeful customers looking for a nice shopping experience here. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I took 16 items in to sell. Staff said they took my stuff to goodwill last night and the receipt said 10:08am TODAY was when they did the buy. I came in at 10:45 am to get my stuff and it was all gone for only $39 dollars. Such a scam place because I guarantee they don't take to goodwill, they sell it after not paying a dime. (Hence the ugly clothes they try to sell.) Tried to find stuff to use store credit on, but it was all trash clothing except the jeans. I love having a weekly shopping trip to Plato's Closet! You never know what kind of gem you will find. I sold/ got rid of majority of my closet when I moved from California to Tri-Cities, Plato's Closet is perfect for picking out tons of pieces you love, and you won't be selling an arm and leg to do it. if i could i would give 0 stars. First off i brought in a bag and my friend also brought her own bag and they wouldn't let us be separate sellers we had to combine our stuff and wouldn't tell us why. Then they took 2 hours to be done, which would normally be fine except when we got there they said they had to pass on everything... they wouldn't take anything and said "it has to be freshly washed" which everything was and they said there was a weird smell coming from the bag, to which me, my friend, and our roommate's all smelled the bag and couldn't smell anything besides the laundry soap/ clean garbage bag smell. The workers were pretty cold sounding and refused to answer any questions. They also say they take certain brands and items and then also refuse to take them. This store is and has always been a rip off i was hesitant about even trying to sell my clothes here and this was my first time selling experience and it will also be my last. read more

From here on out I will be traveling to any other platos closet store than the one in Kennewick. I have nothing against platos closet as a whole but I have many things to complain about the way this specific location is run. I have a family of 5 and have spent thousands of dollars at this store buying clothes at a discounted price, but have come to the point where I'm willing to pay full price elsewhere because I can count on the staff to actually work with me to give me the better deal rather than squeeze every penny they can out of me and leave me with as little as they possibly can. Here are only a few examples: -If I use any kind of discount that I earned I am automatically excluded from the option to return said clothing. -they push you to sell your used items, give you next to nothing for them, and if you use the cash you do receive towards a new purchase it is automatically deemed non-refundable -they darn near yell at you without a kind warning first if you don't have a mask on or if it's just below the nose If you do decide to shop here, which I advise against, make sure you get what they say to you in writing or they won't honor their word as far as discounts received or your ability to get back the money that should rightfully belong to you. Not to mention their whole "going bagless" thing is completely ridiculous. What am I supposed to do when I buy 40 items of clothing and have to carry them all out individually with my purse, children and whatever else I already have to carry with me. I went shopping for a friend of mine today to find her a dress for her mom's funeral tomorrow. They had a the perfect dress but it was on a mannequin. They don't sell those close til Saturdays. We spent 4 hours trying to find a dress somewhere else and came up with nothing. I went back to Platos and asked if they would make an exception since it was for a funeral. They said only if she came in and tried it on. If she had time to do that I wouldn't have been looking for her. The people working there obviously haven't experienced what it's like to lose someone as important to them as a mother. I am very appalled how insensitive they were to the situation. This store is clean, bright, and well organized. The racks are arranged by size first, then color. The sizes are very clearly labeled and the clothes are in their proper place. Everything is clean and the store smells fresh. The selection of shirts and pants is good, and there is also a nice array of scarves. Prices are decent here for for the cleanliness and quality. My husband got a brand new expensive men's jacket for $14.00 with the original tag still on it! I was a bit unsure about stopping as my previous visit to the Hillsboro, Oregon store, was a disappointment. The staff here cares about their store and it's obvious. Staff was friendly and courteous. They even went out of their way to find a better pair of sunglasses I wanted to buy, that were the same as ones I had found with a small scratch on it. This store will now be a weekly stop for us. First time at Plato's Closet selling or buying, the girls at the front desk were efficient and informative. Brought in a large storage bag full of clothes and they sorted through quickly! I'd say 10 minutes tops, and we were at least third in line. Only a few items were accepted and I made more than I expected. Employees here seem young and on-trend. Selling clothes is easy- just bring in a picture ID and your clothes, and they'll either look through them while you shop or you can come back and pick them up before closing. They are inconsistent on what they take, but it depends on the current season/styles/stock on hand so it makes sense. Clothes are cute and reasonably priced but check for damaged items. The return policy is 7 days and twice now I've come home with clothes that have holes. Don't waste your time selling items here, they usually only buy from their friends. I brought brand new American Eagle jeans with the tags still on, and they said they were not current... A girl who came in at the same time (who obviously knew the employees based on their interactions) also brought clothing. I overheard the employees saying "we'll buy most of them, don't worry". without even looking at the items. As I sat there waiting for them to look at my clothes, I heard the employees talking bad about a customer that just left the store. They talked about how annoying her child was as well as how annoying all kids are. This was pretty offensive considering I was there with my young child. I decided to put back the shoes I intended to buy. I will never shop at Platos again read more

I had some tank tops and jeans and khakis to sell. They took my tank tops but not the jeans and khakis. The jeans and khakis were brand new wore only a few times as I had family visiting from overseas and did not need to bring those home. The jeans were from Aeropostale and khakis are from Old Navy. The girl told me they wouldn't take the pants because they were "old", "not in style" and some other thing which makes no sense. Looking at the jeans they have on the rack some had holes in them and some looked like the ones I brought. I don't know if she was lazy to work or just didn't want to entertain me. I didn't want to argue with her to make a scene or anything so I left it at that. Also after dropping off the clothes she told me to come back in 10 to 20 mins but just be back in 10 mins. So I came back in 10 mins and the clothes were still sitting at the same spot where she left it, Mind you I only had less than 10 pieces of clothing. In the end I waited for over an hour for her to tell me the above. They say they take most styles but I don't understand what makes the people working there "fashion stylists." read more

I don't know about you guys, but I would rather not "donate" to a company that will mark up the clothing to prices you can find at the store (for brand new clothes) during a good sale, only to line their greedy pockets.
