I would give this store a zero if I could. I cleaned out my closet over the weekend. We brought in 3 well packed large Guess bags with designer clothes (Diane von Furstenberg, Lartiste, Louis Vuitton, coach and men's Clark shoes). They wadded these clothes up and stuffed them like rags into the bags, tore the nice handled bags into pieces and offered $60 exchanged for over 30 pieces of designer clothing. The nice Guess shopping bags were ripped into so many pieces that we didn't have anything to carry them back to the car in and we were told it was their store policy that they are not responsible for damaging your items. Do not take your items there for sale to them. They don't respect quality and they have no clue what they are doing. There needs to be better management of these kids. read more

Attention, FYI Do not sell your luxury handbags to Clothes Mentor Lexington or Plato's closet. They will rip you off.... They look up prices on Poshmark, which is a website that sells items that is not authenticated, and the pricing is not right. Which means they are undercutting you tremendously. I can't believe no one has ever mentioned/complained about this before. You would think there would be some kind of law about this but I guess there isn't. so I don't recommend selling your luxury items if you're trying to get rid of crappy mall brand clothes, then go ahead, but I seriously recommend not selling anything of luxury value. They wanted to offer me $160 bucks for a vintage LV clutch In VErY good condition that has a legit retail value of $800 and they went by people selling bags on poshmark for $300, which are not authenticated, which means they aren't priced accordingly. read more

I would not go to this location because the workers are extremely rude and hateful. Terrible customer service and acted mad that they had to be there and do their job. I dropped my stuff off at 3 and went back at 5 because my boyfriend got a message saying his stuff was ready (which was right before mine) and I stood there for like 40 more minutes and mine still was not ready. However, the girl who brought her stuff in AFTER I did had gotten a text saying hers was ready. When I went to ask the staff if they thought they'd get to mine (because they close at 6) she was very dry and hateful. So I wait around until 6 and the lady calls me up and had only went through one of the two bags I brought in, saying they passed on everything else because of wear. But they did not even go through the second bag, which had brand new shoes or shoes that were worn maybe twice. If she had just told me that they didn't have time to go through my second bag that would've been fine but she acted like she did. I understand being really busy and having a lot of bags to go through before closing time but if you are in a job like that where you deal with the public then you should be able to respectfully interact with customers. Terrible experience and hateful workers. Would rather take my stuff to goodwill and get no money than to deal with those workers who are rude and halfway do their job. read more

I am inspired to write this review after going to Plato's Closet in Lexington, KY (off Nicholasville Road) today to express how fantastic my experience was. I sold some of my clothes, which they were so helpful and kind with answering my questions about the process. Then efficiently and timely, they sorted through my clothes that they could sell and contacted me. When I went into the store to receive the money for my items, the women working were so kind and helpful about explaining the store credit option or full cash amount, as well as being so genuinely nice to me. I have been to other Plato's Closets (i'm assuming they were in a different franchise than this location because it was in a different state), and I remember feeling intimidated and as if I was bothering the workers on shift by simply being in the store. But, my experience today at the Lexington, KY location was quite the opposite. The staff there was beyond kind, genuinely happy to help customers, were obviously working very hard, and still had a very nice & positive attitude towards customers even when they were right in the middle of sorting through clothes or if I was asking (what I would think to be) a stupid question. I'm compelled to write this today in the hopes that this review will give this location at least some of the recognition it deserves. I have not been feeling well lately and haven't been in the best of moods, but after talking with these women and how kind they were to me, it changed my entire mood for the day around for the better. read more

A couple of weeks ago I stopped in and lucked out in getting a pair of jeans that fit and I actually liked for 12.00. They have a wide selection of jeans at reasonable prices as well as other clothing. The customer service is so so. But then again its a store full of college students. The store is well lit and clean. They did have a Michael Kors bag for 35.00. If someone doesn't snatch it up it'll be a mistake. I would but I have to many bags already! read more

First and last time here. This place is a joke. No wonder they have such bad reviews. First they told me it would be 1 hour and 40 minutes to go through my clothes and it took an hour at the most. I brought in name brand items in like new condition, some of which were new with tags. They told me all of my items were styles that didn't work well for them in the past. I don't usually write bad reviews, but I wanted to warn other folks. I brought some items in yesterday for them to potentially purchase. They quoted be 45 minutes wait time which I was fine with. It took over two hours to look at the one small bag of clothes that I brought in. When they were finally done, they told me that they are not interested in buying any of them because the 'brands are outdated.' 90% of what I brought in was American Eagle, which they had items for sale that were similar to what I brought in. The rest was Vera Bradley purses. Some of the items I purchased within the last year. Its just weird to me that the entire bag was not worth it - especially considering the age of some the items. The motivation to write this review wasn't related to the denial of the items though. I decided to write the review because it took over 2 hours to decide they couldn't use any of it, that is something that should have been able to be done in the original time quoted. The second reason I decided to write this review is, upon my return to the store, the manager was sharing a 'memo' that was over two months old with the staff. Dont waste your time selling your items here. Ive tried several times. They dont want to pay anything and the last time I took items which were multiple pairs of Miss Me Jeans, MK shoes and purses, Coach Purses, Nike, Pink, A&F, Adidas, Gucci and more and THEY NEVER even attempted to buy anything. The crew there that day that made decisions on what got bought looked to be about 16 - 18 year olds that just rolled out of bed and put on their big sister's clothes - even the boys working. They have a lot of boys working there. No offense but what do young boys know about women's brands anyways? They need employees that are just there to buy items and well trained. read more

I talked to three different workers here's, all of which were snobby. I asked one lady to open a room for me and she just looked at me like I was asking her for gold. I was selling some clothes and the guy that checked me out for that was just acting like he was better than us and was very rude. Finally I wanted to buy a jacket and so I was being rung out and the lady just seemed like she was having a bad day or something. She didn't wanna talk and she seemed like she just wanted to get it over with. I won't ever go back here again, the staff is rude. Not to mention most things are overpriced. The closing time according to google was 9PM, but we got there at 7:52, at which time they said they close in 7 minutes. I was with my 16 year old who needed a shirt for a play, and my 18 year old who had autism. We rushed over to the mens' section only to be told that I needed to leave my "backpack" at the counter. I was confused- what? The manager said I need to have you bring your backpack up front. I asked, what backpack? She pointed at the small binoculars case I was using as a purse. Yes, it had a double strap like a backpack, but it was no bigger than a small purse! Did people have to leave their purses up front? No, but you have a backpack. As I followed the associate up, I again pointed out that it as small as a SMALL purse. She pointed to where she would put it, on a wall shelf behind the counter. I said okay- my son needed that shirt and I was wasting our 7 minutes! When I retrieved my purse that they were insisting was a backpack, it was open- the closure is made to keep binoculars from falling out while climbimg, so I know there was no way it could have fallen open. I don't know why I had been approached 30 seconds after entering with my small binoculars case purse when people were there with purses twice as big or more than mine!!?!! and, I was shocked that they had the audacity to open my purse without me present! That is NOT a good business practice, I will not bring my teens ever again! read more

Horrible customer service. I went in with my niece who is 6 and I was surrounded by employees cursing. I understand the employees are young and some things slip, but it was constant among all the employees! So I understand that as someone who was previously affiliated with this business that I shouldn't write a review on it, but I feel like its an obligation of mine to do so. I worked here for some time and finally quit some time ago. My experience here, although short but months too long, was unpleasant. In the beginning, I loved it, my co-workers made my experience amazing, it was fun and I caught onto the rules and the system the store had within a week. It was great. But then I met the owner. He started coming into the store more and more often weeks after I started working there. Then it became everyday that he was there. I truly met the owner the first time after he told me he was going to "think about firing me" after I left a drink on the counter and tried a dress on while on break and got the okay that I looked good from an employee. After that, he started to fire people who I felt were great assets to the store and were, well the only people who knew how to do their specific jobs. Finally I put my 2 weeks in. Not only was he extremely rude to me my last 2 weeks but he treated those who also did like he actually cared. When asked when my last day was he said "okay, good" when asking others he made sure to tell them that he would miss them and that they should call and visit when they can and that they were always welcome back to work for him. He also made it a point to tell my co-workers that he couldn't care less if I showed up my last 2 weeks or not. Now this is what really made me write this lengthy review, my 2nd to last day I was checking out a customer with him. I pulled out the clearance items and handed them to him so we could scan them and mark them down. These items still had the hangers and security tags on them. after he was done marking them down and scanning them, he literally threw these items at me, so hard the hanger broken in half cutting my hand slightly. Now at this point I'm so used to the disrespect that it doesn't bother me much and I continue on, but it's the fact this this man threw items at me that the customers in front of me are paying for and hes making double or triple the amount he bought them for from the original owner. To end this, I say, if you shop here, you're supporting a man who treats his employees like garbage, I promise you in the metropolis city that is Lexington, KY, you will find a store much better than this. read more

The merchandise is great. I can get multiple outfits for under 100 dollars! However, the customer service of employees need to be improved. I understand that most are young, but it was every time I was around an employee the only words leaving their mouths were curse words. Normally I wouldn't care, but I had my 5 year old niece with me. I had a good experience here. My buyer was fast, friendly, and bought a good deal of my stuff. I made $60! I recommend bringing a lot of stuff, because some of what I expected them to take they didn't, and a lot of what they did take I threw in at the end absentmindedly. So be inclusive, rather than exclusive with your selections. And make sure your clothes are clean! You may have to wait a bit, but it's nice to browse the shelves as you wait. read more

Ehhhh.... the store is okay..... I was there today with a garbage bag full of clothes! I would say the clothes I brought into the store were in pretty good condition.. I guess they thought differently... I dropped my items off and browsed around while I was waiting...numerous items I had picked up to look at were ratty and seemed pretty old.. I picked up one shirt with a hole In it (I thought they looked these items over before trying to sell them?) I had picked up stuff with stains on it (they must've not been doing a good job looking over the clothes If I was seeing this) and also, a lot of their items were too highly priced (the things I picked up and walked past) I picked up a pair of Nike running shoes for 45.00!!! Let me tell you, they were NOT in good condition. I don't get it. After about an hour or so of being in the store, I got a text saying my stuff was ready. I went to the counter and they said "we're going to have to do a pass on all these (all of them except like two shirts) due to the items not being in great condition" I'm sorry but.. what? She told me she could give me 3.20 in cash or 4 and some change store credit.. I took the cash and left.. I just do not see how they could do a pass all on clothes that are in good condition when I am walking past clothes in their store that they are trying to sell, with stains on them, holes.... stuff from Walmart... Oh my stuff was namebrand but whatever.. I honestly should've taken it to the Goodwill store. I will not be returning to this store... definitely not worth my time! read more

They have cheap clothes and you can sometimes get a nice find. I got a j crew vest there for pretty cheap. But when It comes to selling clothes. Absolutely do not go there! Went in with 2 full bags of clothes with tags from name brand stores. Bought two pairs of jeans for 13$. But if you look on there racks they usually have crap. Just sell at a yard sale or online. They are a great place to find vintage and newer clothes that are gently used. Good prices and I always leave with something. They do have all kinds of clothes, shoes, jewelry etc. I usually dont like used clothing but this place is so clean and neat. read more

They take very little when you are selling, not worth my drive. I can go to Meijer and buy new clothes at the prices they sell theirs.

I love this store, you can get a really cute outfit for under 20$! And they are all name brand! And in great condition, a great majority of my clothes come from here. read more
