I came to Platos Closet to sell some items. I normally take things I don't want/need to Non profit organizations but my mom had a great experience bringing her items here a couple of months ago so I decided to give it a try. I did feel a little weird because It was my first time selling clothing but both the girls that assisted me where super friendly and welcoming. I felt a little nervous that they might not take anything but to my surprise they did! The items that they didn't take they didn't make me feel bad about it and it was OKAY I got to donate the rest. They took more than half of my stuff which felt great- obviously you are not going to get what you originally pay for which they disclose that and more information prior to taking your items, at the end of the day they are a business and have to make a profit as well. If you are the type of person that wants to get close to what you pay for your stuff then maybe this isn't the place for you to sell. People that get upset because their items aren't taken or you aren't offered what you want are crazy. Girl just say okay thank you and have a garage sale or something no need to get upset. I understand that you work hard for your stuff, personally I wouldn't bring things that were "expensive" and "luxury" items because I know I won't get anything close to what I paid for (insert smiley face here). Over all I had a great experience and although I didn't shop here the store looked fully stocked and organized. I think it's great for other people to be able to purchase gently used items at an affordable price. Defenitely recommend coming to this location to shop and sell read more

Very unorganized staff. We were waiting to check out as there were 5-6 different employees behind the counter and only one person working the register. An unfriendly staff member told us to move to the other side of the counter if we were waiting to check out, so we did. During that time, another guest was checked out ahead of us. No organization at all. Very displeased. read more

With All due respect the customer Service was an absolute joke and a complete waste of my time. I brought 2 large bags of brand new and used clothes mind you I called days before and they were not specific about what to bring them in they said any kind of bag or basket was accept okay so I go in two days later then I am told they cannot accept them because they can get fined because it was trash bags no problem so I told her that's fine I'll bring you in piles at a time I'm pregnant but I'll do the extra work anyways she said no it's fine and had me bring them as is I used my money and I already went out my way to wash the used items and fold them nicely in the bags by category I literally watched the girl only look through only a couple items not even 20 minutes later I got a message it was ready i watched her so I already knew that they didn't even look through all of the items or even bother to check the sizes I know also because again I watched her not do it she takes a couple items out and picked only 2 winter sweaters keep in mind a majority of the items I wanted to give still have tags and or are name brand clothing summer clothes workout clothes fall and winter not to mention the items I was already disappointed that I saw that there was already items in store similar to what I brought but had poor or low quality just needed to be throw out but I kept my comments to myself until they said due to styles and them being "kids clothing " they do not accept them I have been going for years they do accept kids clothing besides that i should have been told that before hand when I specifically asked what they accepted I asked multiple times to clarify specifically so I brought that up also I brought it to her attention that I watched them not even look at and or dismiss a majority of items just choosing a couple things because if she actually went through them checked and saw that it was women sizes ranging from xs small and medium and she basically gave me attitude and said nothing she can do I just took my items back and sold them the 2 sweaters for 6$ no big deal so I took my brand new clothes and good quality items back and went on about my day after I wasted almost 20 minutes of my time and have my intelligence insulted I will never go back nor give my business to them dear managers please stop hiring teen children who do not want to do their job I will gladly take my time and sell the items between 5-10 $ online and get my money worth I wasn't even asking for that much just wanted them out of my closet to make space for my child. Very disappointed and I will not be back and do not recommend anyone going there. If anyone is interested in the items I'll be selling fill free to reach out I'm basically giving them away I just need this stuff gone. Might go give them to good will brace j don't have the patience or energy for it just wanted a little extra money towards my baby on the way. read more

This is the worst platos closet I've ever been to. The customer service is hot garbage. I sell my things here often and the last time I went I literally saw and heard one of the workers hold up one of my items, yell across the floor to another worker if they would wear it .. called it ugly and laughed. They buy clothes based on their personal likes and dislikes when half the time they are dressed horribly themselves. The Plato's closet in north dallas is WAYYYYY better. And I will only be going there from now on. read more

Good place to get some clothes but 3 things about it keep it from getting 5 stars. 1- it's always so damn hot. 2- They never buy but like 3 of my 40 items I try to sell to them because of their "condition". My stuff is in great condition btw. Yet they sell shoes that look muddy and that have been ran over. 3- the store has a smell to it. It would be a great smell if it wasn't over powering. Ive been to all the Platos closets in the area trying to get rid of a bunch of great and gently used clothing before my move. Out of all of them, this location was by far the best looking, clean and smelt great for being a thrift store. Their air freshener was doing its job but didnt give me a headache, you can tell that they care about the place down to the quality of products that they invested in. Furthermore from the woman, I walked into the door the staff had great customer service and the manager was completely efficient and highly informative as it was my second experience and my first experience was poor at the Garland location. I called ahead just to make sure that they were taking donations as all the other location took was a sports bra-- from the five bins that I had. All in great condition. Very gently used and clean. This location gave me the best experience and I left with $100 in my pocket. I will definitely be back to this location after I do my next purge before the big move. Thank you to the management and team that gave a 10 out of 10 experience. I would recommend this place to anybody who has great clothes but needs to get rid of them or wants to find nice things at a good cost. read more

Good selection of clothes, not very organized. Brought in a bag of clothes to sell. Was there for over an hour just for them to tell me "sorry we never sent out the message your clothes were ready", this is the second time that happens. You're better off selling on depop or donating your clothes to a thrift. read more

Went in around Christmas and the parking lot was a nightmare and I was cranky. All the sales staff were helpful and kept me giggling. Brought some clothes in to sell (All clean, name brand, BARELY worn) and all of my items were rejected due to "older styles". Almost all of it was from Dillards or a boutique. It was all neatly folded in two stacks, but was returned to me wadded up and thrown back in the bags I provided. I will not be returning! read more

How is this place even standing? Whoever created the policy has bad intentions! They don't accept trash bags even if you take them home? AND after you struggle to carry everything in you need your cell phone on you, let's not forget you have to stay in the store to get things reviewed! I've gone to a few Plato's to sell and this is the best one I've been to. I never leave with less than $50. I'll be honest I've never bought anything from here but I think the good stuff goes pretty quick. Employees are really nice also. My only complaint is the last time a sold, I brought 2 small bags and a big laundry bin. They clearly didn't go through the laundry bin because it was all folded exactly how I left it but that could be a mistake. I still left with $60. Overall, this is my favorite Plato's to bring my stuff to sell in DFW. read more

I was looking at the hair clips and I was accused of stealing because I had the same hair clip in my hair -_- . I told the salesperson that she can check the cameras, I walked in with in my hair. The girl who looks like she had a nose job is absolutely rude. I think she's one of the managers. The other girls will be sorting through the clothes and liking most, then she comes over and says "no it's ugly" and they are forced to not buy it. She also looks at you in disgust if you don't bring in anything high value. Miss ma'am will act like she works in Gucci. Also YES, they do steal clothes. They took one of my bags of clothes because they thought I would forget it, called me 15 min later and asked if I wanted to donate it I said no. I took in a a bag of shoes,miss me jeans,and a denim hoodie.they told me it would be a hour/half before they could look over them..first off I never got a text saying my things were ready,so I called them the next day and arranged to pick them up the next night.when I got there they had gone through my things and said nothing could sell and my jeans were missing and my denim jacket and a pair of brand new boots they claim they donated to charity,smh After speaking with the owner she claimed the jeans had a inside stain and were not usable,if that were the case,just return my things as u did my other items...They just Stole my good items and gave me the rest back! Your new policies suck! Having to return the same day and cannot have someone else pick up for you is ridiculous! Using the word "donate" is misleading! You really mean that you will steal my clothes if I don't come back for them the same day. Not to mention, the "no clothes in trash bags" policy or the "I can't tell you how much your items are worth over the phone" policy. You must not want my business. No worries, I will never come back. I've shopped and sold to Plato's plenty of times throughout my years. It's so therapeutic shuffling through your expressive past and I always feel good about the hands to where my late goods will end up through Plato's closet. It's been awhile since I've sold and decided to down size a bit, which is why I'm currently at the Town East location. I arrived and was immediately checked in by an attendant where she explained to me the amount of time it'll take, and the rules as far as being in store. I proceeded to grab an item out of my car, which is parked right front of the store, when I was scolded by the manager, Amanda, from across the store. Once I came back inside I expressed to her that I did not appreciate the way she talked to me and was met with so much attitude and sass, I felt like a child... and in front of other employees! Smh I probably won't be returning to this location anytime soon, and would hope "management" will take time to provide genuine customer service. read more

Usually when I visit this location I don't have any issues but today 1/19/23 It was terrible. I did not receive good service at all. First things first, I was trying on clothes. And lady was rude. Not the First Lady who let me in the dressing room, she was very helpful but the Second Lady who had to let me in just stood there watching me ask her to let me in, I literally stood there her looking at me and me looking at her. Then after that I'm ready to check out. Kelsi is her name and she is my cashier. I go over to the counter, no one speaks until 1-2 minutes later. Then asks me and my mom how we're doing and we say good. She walks to another register and I ask her "do you need me to move my things" she goes "that'd be great." Usually, they move the items. I work in customer service myself. So I move them. She doesn't greet us, and she talks to another associate the whole time of our transaction. She asks me "cash or card". I tell her card and give her my card. She takes it FROM MY HAND and puts it ON THE COUNTER. I did not sit my card on the counter to give to you. She then hands me the receipt to sign and sits it down without a word. I am very upset with her behavior and I will be contacting the store to speak to a manager. So today I woke up and was like,"I need new clothes." I've once heard about Plato's Closet via YouTube from beauty and style gurus such as DulceCandy87 and jlovesmac1. Being that I just moved to mesquite area from out of state I have a lot of things to get rid of. So I packed up about 2 shopping bags worth of goodies I wasn't wearing, and probably never would have worn, and headed over to the Town east location. I was greet warmly by the store buyer as soon as I walked through the door she was such a lovely person made me feel welcome. Note: This was my first time to Plato's Closet EVER!!! The clothes the they sell seem decent with fair pricing. I have purchased many things from them in the past. When I went to sell clothes the most recent visit I made, I shopped while I waited. They tried to pay me $40 for some new Jordan's and 3 new clothing items, including a Fendi Sweatshirt. That has got to be a joke! The sales girl seemed pissed when I declined the sale and said I would hold onto my items. When I was looking through what they wanted to purchase from me she said "please don't mess them up" because I was (neatly!) looking through the couple of MY items they wanted. I think they were actually wanting them to purchase for themselves at the end of shift bc I saw them looking through my stuff and whispering to each other while smiling and holding stuff up. It totally rubbed me the wrong way with her attitude at the end and then when she handed me my other items back I noticed one shoe was missing it's pair, which I saw in another bin across the room. I said "excuse me, that's my shoe" and she said "oh." Walked over and got it for me then with a pissed off face handed it over without an apology whatsoever. Low and behold, I get home and notice a pair of expensive J Brand jeans I had in the items for sale was missing. I can only assume one of them stole it, I mean.. "accidentally-on purpose, misplaced it in a different bin". Wink-wink. If I could give this place a negative amount of stars I would. Where is management? Why does it seem like a bunch of irritable teenage thieves are running this place? It's cringe worthy to say the least. This place has gone so far downhill. If I could rate this location less than 1 star I would. Brought my clothes in to sell and was told there would be a 30 minute wait. I was then informed I must stay in the store the entire time. This is not a policy at any other Platos Closet location, nor was it a policy when I brought in clothes to sell a few months prior. I even called before hand and was never informed of this new "rule". I have my 4 month old child with me so I politely asked if I could sit in my car (that was directly in front of the store) and wait. "Sorry it's store policy ". I'm sorry, for what reason? Exactly, none other than to try to force you to look around the store and buy something. There are two metal chairs in the dressing area, both of which were occupied so I had no choice other than to sit on the disgusting floor with my child. Not to mention, COVID is still very much a thing and the last thing I want to be doing is putting myself and my infant at risk in an overcrowded store.
