Shopped there Saturday for a sale. I was shocked that they sell Walmart brands, they used to sell higher end brands. I did find some got buys. Use the dressing room that only has one hook and a filthy floor so there's really no place for you to put your clothes while you're trying on clothes. When I went to check out, I told the cashier that one of the sweaters I found had a stain on it and when she reduce the price. She told me it was 20% off and I said sweaters are 20% off, since this one has a stain can't you take more off; she said no. This store has definitely went downhill. read more

Two days in a row I tried to and both times "it hust wasn't a good time" I waited for about 20 mins until a girl finally acknolwdged me and said to take my clothes to a donation center! Usually a good selection of clothing. However if you plan on selling to them, be aware it's not an easy process. Some days they accept items--some days they don't. When you do drop off your items, it can be an hour or two before you get a result so obviously most people don't have time to stick around the store and wait. Then they give you a tight 24 hour turnaround to come back and find out if they bought any of your items. If they didn't, then congratulations you've just wasted a trip back there to pick up your useless items. It would be nice if they had a system in place for donating such items along to Goodwill or Savers. read more

Wish the had 'zero' stars. Went in today to sell some new dress shoes and received a text saying 'no' to them. Fine. Went into store and checked in w/3 rude gals at first counter who sent me to reserving counter. Waited in line 4 min. Ok, cashier tells me 'I cannot help you until you mi r your car'. (My husband has parked at the curb in the shade as w/my 92 yr old Mom had her eyes dilated). I explained this but was turned away. I ran to car, told husband to move into the sun and returned. Meanwhile 3 girls are giggling ( why had they not said anything or other gal tell me to move while I was in line!). Anyway, inject and said you guys are rude and I'll never shop here again. Later I get a text saying I'm not allowed to shop there ( thank god) due to MY rudeness, then I receive a text saying 'cunt'. Update: today spoke with new owner who reached out to me. She informs me that a male who worked at her store has been terminated for his rude text to me. This male was not even involved, just the chatty girls told him of what transpired. Extremely disappointed that I was given a gift card from another Plato's closet and upon check out, was told that they do not accept them from other Plato's Closets. The clerk called Raysa, the manager, who informed her to just apologize and did nothing and again, said we don't take them, even mentioning that corp. was aware of the situation. Yet, online it states valid at all locations, on the back of the card it indicates the same. I really have a love-hate relationship with Plato's. As a buyer, I have found some incredible finds! Lululemon, Free People, lots of unique pieces for a price that's even better than local thrift stores (looking at YOU Savers!) Sometimes it's interesting to see what they choose to buy and not buy. I'll bring in new with tag brand name clothes that they might offer me $5 for or return to me, but they'll sell pilled, faded, damaged, stained, out of date style clothing. I mean, there's something for everyone, but it's just interesting to observe. Attempting to sell items to Plato's is an absolute nightmare. I follow them on Instagram to keep up with what they're buying, as this seems to be their most frequently used platform. They've been only buying shoes, stating they'll pay more and have extended their hours to buy shoes. I've been trying for 5 days to bring in shoes and have been turned away every day. I've learned my lesson and started to call before driving over. One day I was told they were done selling for the day and would resume tomorrow, which was a HUGE sale day, the kind people line up at their door for. In my experience, they never buy on these days because it's so busy. The next day, they said they only accept the first 20 people who bring stuff in to sell. I'm unsure if this is a new policy they've implemented, but if it is that's disappointing for someone with a 9-5 job. I'm not some reseller bringing in buckets of clothes to make a profit on, I'm just trying to see if I can get a little coffee money before I donate my clothes/shoes. It'd just be nice to get a little more consistency and updates with their buying process. They are constantly posting their items on IG, it's not hard to inform customers when you're done buying for the day or what items you're only buying right now. read more

This place is okay to shop if you're looking for some branded stuff very cheap and used. But overall they lack make clothing. Idk if they're not getting any in or not, or they just won't accept it. They are very picky on what they buy from you so keep that in mind when you're trying to sell your clothes here. But for women voting, this place is phenomenal to shop at. read more

I love a good used clothing store but there are a few things about this one that have made me shop there a lot less. First is that you only have a week to return. I can't tell you how many times my family has gotten sick and I've had to keep things that don't even fit because I didn't want to out sick kids in the car just to drive and return. The one that really pissed me off though is that when you return you only get store credit (ok no prob) and so I like to save mine for a rainy day when I don't have money and then realize "yay I can shop with credit". I even take credit when I sell to them. Turns out it EXPIRES after a year! Say what...my money isn't mine after a year? How's that? Robbery!! Super slimy policy. I saved up o bunch of credit and it's just gone. Not very customer friendly. Shop with caution. read more

I'm becoming less and less fond of this Plato's closet with every visit. Here's why... * The inventory isn't selling and it's obvious they've been over purchasing for a long time * because of this, they limit new purchases... but Purchasing less doesn't = selling more ... actually less will sell, because the inventory is still old; either out of style or just straight up unwanted. * 1 out of 100 items will stand out, and even less will be purchased. * even if someone has resellable clothes, they don't even know half the time because they get turned away the door since they have no more space. * They barely pick through the items you bring... which is annoying. I Have brought TWO coordinated sets here, and on one visit they took only the TOP from a set, and another time they only took the BOTTOMS from an entirely different set. I didn't put the sets together in the bags, but they were in the same bags. It just seemed like the picked through the top of the bag. * sometimes they put a sign out listing items they are taking that day. But, last time I only brought items on the list. And they took 1 of 20 items, and that was a $120 jacket Patagonia jacket (still had the tags) and they paid me $7.00 for it. * Their store credit isn't kept in a database of any kind - you're simply expected to keep a small paper receipt in your wallet or purse in order to use your store credit. I had $32 store credit, and accidentally threw out the receipt... so i don't have $32 store credit, I just donated clothes. * a lot of the stuff they decide to take (especially shoes) are dirty! I'm still confused about how they don't want items that are new with tags but they want 10 year old Uggs that are worn, stained, and smelly. I wouldn't recommend Plato's closet, especially not this one, to anyone. It's a waste of time and energy. Try reselling your own clothes online or buying cheaper clothes from Goodwill. At least that way you can make some money or just protect yourself from a whole lot of frustration. read more

I'm a huge fan of great consignment stores like this. My daughter and I were running errands last week stocking up on food and stuff during this Coronavirus outbreak. They only time I ever heard of this was the beer that everyone loves. The store was deserted like many others at this horrible time... A lovely girl greeted us when we went in. The store itself was immaculately clean and organized. When you walk in you immediately smell that consignment store fragrance, it's like a combination of fresh washed clothing and antiques all mixed up in one. To me no matter where you are in the world these stores have the same scent. I love it! I love the whole idea of recycling clothing, one persons cast off is a treasure to someone else. I have sold and purchased many things over the years in this manner. I will be back! read more

Disappointed about my experience. The clothes I took in were new, barely worn, name brand women's casual and business clothes. (Lane Bryant, JJill, Jones of New York) Wasn't their vibe. I am an autistic adult. I am also a reseller online. I looked up what items brands and styles were being bought back before rE-washing my inventor, folding it and having my husband drive me from Lake Tahoe to this location. (my disability precludes me from driving. and I walk with a cane) There was a person who drug dirty unfolded clothing in a trash bag in front of me but was wearing fancy designer clothing and carried an expensive Gucci purse, who was served without instance. so when the older apparent manager came out to "deal with me." but didn't actually look at any of the merchandise I brought she only looked at my cane and vintage clothing at which point she started asking me if I smoked, did drugs, toke Mariana, which is not only recrrationally legal in the state she was harassing me in, it is a prescribed medication. when I said I took it as a medication because I didn't have my husband with me to stop me from answering these I vasive and illegal question, she pulled the clothing out of the bag I had it packed in for the first time, waved it around in my face, told me it stunk, and that I was stinking up the building. a building that was quite literally making me I'll to stand inside due to the excessive chemical air freshener smell. she yelled at me as I gathered my things and barely made it out the door before collapsing on the ground outside in a blackout due to her abuse. I had to be helped back to the car by my husband even with my mobili aid, and I have been unable to post this review for months because even thinking of this situation sets off meltdown. I checked their website and it stated they were taking t shirts long & short sleeve plus jeans and fall and winter clothing. Also states you can browse the store while they calculate what they are buying. Not so. Today I went with 3 bags of nearly new items and the girl at the counter said they were only taking name brand items such as Nike, LuLu Lemon, etc. This will be the last time I go there as you cannot call the store to ask before making the long trip there. Sometimes you get there and are told they are not taking any more items that day. Also their voice answer system says they are taking fall & winter items..... NOT so! Guess Goodwill will be the beneficiary of their uncaring attitude and total disregard for their customers who want to sell and their misinformation on their website and voicemail answering system. read more

Every time I have gone to this Plato's they're so rude and don't seem to know what's going on. I went to sell clothes for the first time, the girl turned me around because "We're not taking clothes. Do you have shoes?" I put the clothes back in the car and grabbed the shoes, and asked when they stopped taking clothes. Mind you the outside says "We pay cash for clothes". She said "1pm". There is no signage that says so. I dropped the shoes off, she said they would take 6 minutes, and it actually took 16. When I got there, they were again aloof and standoffish. He couldn't find my stuff for a couple minutes, switched me registers because the one didn't have cash, only to tell me that my 3 pairs of converse and black platform heels were out of style. Wow. I would say that I would never come back, but now I have too. I came in on 2/7/21 SPECIFICALLY because I got a text saying they were having a 30% off discount. I bought THREE pairs of shoes and TWO hats specifically because they advertised a sale. The total before the sale was $103. I even asked about the sale at the register and the employee said yup I'll apply it. I left and my total was $99. I thought they just missed the discount so I went back in and asked about it (not even upset, these things happen). I come back in and 3 different employees said "oops it looks like they missed it, it should be 30% off" but of course the employee who helped me originally tried to argue it and was SO RUDE. she literally rolled her eyes and said "yeah the only way I can fix this now is if you refund everything and I re sell" I said yeah of course I want to do that so I brought all the items back in from my car. Although this girl was EXTREMELY RUDE I still wasn't that upset. Then the original girl helps me again and is rude the entire time through the refund. Finally she needs to grab a manager because she doesn't know how to return an item. So the manager comes and refunds my items and resells them to me and I get a difference back of $32.... IN STORE CREDIT. They refused to refund my card. I asked "even though it was your fault? And this transaction literally happened 3 minutes ago?" And she said "ya sorry" and shrugged it off. So now I have to come back to a business that I don't want to come back to and spend more money THAT I WOULDNT HAVE SPENT IN THE FIRST PLACE because they made a mistake. Customers should not be responsible to correct the employees on a discount. Don't advertise a discount if you aren't going to apply it. In addition, when you make a mistake you should say "I'm sorry" and own up to it instead of be snotty roll your eyes and say "this is the only way I can do it sry". The manager who helped was nice I will give her that but the original employee was extremely rude and I'm honestly so annoyed I now have to go back and support this business. IN ADDITION, a couple months ago I tried to sell clothes and the ones they didn't take they asked if I wanted to donate. I asked where do they take their donations and they said they donate to a women's shelter so I donated. A couple weeks after that I went back in and saw clothes I know I donated on the racks. I've only bought things at Plato's and never old anything, so I can't say anything about the selling process. I have bought a few things at Plato's and I must say I've been happy with the prices and quality. Everything is in great condition. I bought a Billabong kimono cardigan (is that what they're called?) for $9! It fit perfectly and was in perfect condition. I also bought some sunglasses (again, in perfect shape). I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I had a horrible experience here. Dropped my clothes off and was told I would get a call back later that day. No one ever called me back so I called them multiple times and multiple days and no one ever picked up the phone. I also took the initiative to email them and I still was never contacted back. When I finally had the opportunity to go back in the store they told me they just donated my clothes without my permission and they didn't give me a single dollar for the expensive clothing I know I had inside the bin when I donated it. I read the reviews and thought it can't be that bad... wrong. They are only buying shoes right now because of there extensive inventory of torn, stained, and off brand clothes. Maybe coach these kids OR have designated buyers? Maybe step up your customer service? I was the only person selling shoes and they said it would take all day because they are busy! Last time I looked around the room there are 6 employees and 3 customers. We seem to be outnumbered but go ahead take all day... hopefully the money I get for the shoes will make up for the time I wasted looking for something decent in the store. Overall terrible, I've been multiple times to try and sell my clothes from Lululemon, express, Nike and other designer name brands some clothes with tags still on and 3 separate occasions the workers told me I couldn't drop off my clothes and pick them up later to work with my schedule like they used to do. They also wouldn't look through them while I was there because I was there only 20min before they started accepting clothes and they still said no. I have places to be and a busy life schedule so I couldn't wait around for them to decide to do their job at random or certain times of the day. Brought in 5 or 6 NAME BRAND (Patagonia and Columbia) jackets and a couple of pairs of Nike, Levi,Columbia, and Dockers pants. They took ALL of the jackets and 1 or 2 pairs of pants only gave $57. I came back the next day to donate 7 or 8 perfect condition really cute shirts and they took ONE and offered me $2! They have really rude girls with weird senses of style determining what gets sold in the store and so standard cute clothes don't get chosen. Do not come here to sell your clothes!!! You'll spend more in gas to get here than what they'll offer you! This place used to be awesome and would take most of your stuff but whatever employees they have now suck at choosing what to keep. Saw a weird black and bright orange with gold chains shirt in there. You'll take that but not my Columbia pants?? Not my American Eagle shirt?? So sad to see this place change. Yesterday I brought my clothes in, I had a brand new pair of Lululemon with the tags on at the very bottom of the bin. I had folded everything a very special way so the employee got the best appearance from my basket! 6 hours after dropping them off they were finally ready for pickup. Currently, I am going on 10 years of retail experience, I understand staff is frustrated, tired, and drained. BUT customer service is not optional in a very much so " if you make the customer feel good they spend money" type of business. The cashier originally "lost our bin" and then proceeded to say that "they were not going to take my stuff due to its condition and style". Totally understand style, but I had to question the condition. The cashier attempted to say that my stuff was " torn apart" but then I interpreted her and said that "it was ok, we will be back with the bin." The cashier made me feel so embarrassed, and uncomfortable in the store. As we walked out with the bin to unload it, we saw the sign for " buying athletic wear only". The cashier should have had better customer service and do the feel good method and say " hey today we just didn't see anything, but if you have any athletic wear we are looking to add to our sale this weekend!" My boyfriend and I unpacked my bin in the parking lot. We had folded the bin together and knew exactly where things were and how they were placed. Once we shredded the top layer we both realized that the bin had not been touched. The employee missed free people, lulu, Nike, and a brand new pair of vans. I had been in the store shopping with friends a few days prior and both the owners were present. The woman seemed clueless to the operation as to where and what drawer functioned properly, and check out location for the clothes drop off. The same cashier when giving the owner the correct process rolled her eyes during the response. TO THE OWNER. Maybe it's just lack of supervision and responsibility all around. There was two new employees (which is hard to find these days) but the two gentlemen did not clean the dressing dressing rooms. His only employee duties he did was sit, talk to his bestie ( who also works there), tag clothes, and say " just knock before you enter the dressing room". Really unfortunate lack of care for the business, I mean if you're going there it's to either save a few bucks or to make a few. So what's my solution? Be a Karen yelper? Yes, but I really think that the owners need to be present and take control of their shops again.
