Wow! I was introduced to this place by a good friend and fellow thrifter and I was very pleasantly surprised! This store is filled with reasonably priced thrifty gems from clothing to housewares to sporting goods! This is officially my new favorite thrift spot in town. As the other big chain thrifts are increasing their prices, this place is marking inventory to move! I left with a cart filled with items and got away with around $40 of gold. Incredible! read more

Reposting with different verbiage since my first review got deleted. I had the absolute worst experience with the staff at this thrift store. I came in to shop but very urgently needed to use the restroom first. I was denied access to the restroom even after I politely explained that I have colon cancer and have an invisible disability due to my treatments and surgeries I've had, which makes it difficult to control when I need to go and I don't have much notice (hence the urgency) . The manager showed zero compassion, rudely telling me to walk down the block to the nearest public restroom instead. I even offered for him to escort me if he was concerned, but he refused and said, "We don't have a public bathroom." I'm fully aware they have an employee restroom, so this felt unnecessarily cruel and discriminatory. As a Catholic charity, I expected kindness and understanding, especially for someone with a disability. Instead, I left humiliated and in tears, unable to shop or support their cause. This was the first place to ever deny me using restroom in my condition; everywhere else has graciously let me use their employee restroom when they don't have a public restroom. Truly heartbreaking and not at all Christlike. I will never return to shop there, and have warned others about their poor UnChrist like behavior. So disappointing! Do better St. Vincent's! read more

This place has some very rude and weird staff. When I went, there was a young kid just running around in a diaper and I'm not sure if she was a customer's or a staff's but it was a really weird. The value is good, it's worth looking to see if you can find something, but it's just a sketchy place. read more

After leaving another thrift store in Reno, we decided to check this place out. The area made me feel a bit unsafe. We walked in and the place had crowded racks of clothing. I wanted to check out the kids racks but it was so disorganized. We love checking out books however, they didn't have a big area, though I did find one book. Their higher price items are all behind the counter or locked in the front in display cases. I was looking at some purses but after seeing their prices, which were a bit overpriced $50, $75... I stopped looking. I did find a cat toy and a toy for my granddaugher that were well prices. There was a line to check out but there were 2 registers opened. The gentleman checking us out was friendly enough. One thing is that there is a sign when you walk in the store indicating no public restroom which sucks when you have an 87 year old mom with demetia that you take care of and comes with me everywhere. Of course, 5 minutes after we got there she had to go pee. I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

We came on Wednesday, October 16th. I checked out at about 2:45pm with an older lady, short hair and glasses. When we walked up to the counter she was speaking on the phone and then rudely hung up on a customer. Then continued to talk rudely. Didnt greet us at all. A Mexican radio station was playing and she proceeds to call another elderly man with glasses and a ponytail and said "can you change that music?" And the other employee asks "what do you wanna listen to?" And she said "anything but THAT. Just anything but that." As we were walking out the elderly man comes back up and asks "so you didnt want to listen to circus music, huh?" Really? Seems like they take pride in their racism considering they had no shame saying this in front of two Hispanic women. Wow. Is all I can say. read more

I have been coming here for years and at one point even attended an orientation for volunteer opportunities. GREAT place for thrifting and donating as well. The store will have a wave of being full to "scarce" of items but that is normal due to donation influx. The store is organized as it can be which makes browsing easier and more efficient. It is also clean which is an absolute plus for a thrift store. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only issue I have come across here is the occassional inconsistencies on their donation hours. I've came to drop off items a few times and they were closed. The last time I dropped off donations, the door was closed so I drove off and returned in the afternoon. When I arrive the door was still closed but someone incidentally came out and I asked if they were open. I was told that they are but they keep the door closed... well dang! Are we suppose to open the door ourselves? Doesn't seem right given that there is no sign to do so *shrug* read more

I have always loved thrift stores and the great bargains you can get ! The Prices are okay But if they want to continue to have a little bit of a higher price than most thrift stores then they really need to clean ! It's gross and dirty not kept up when it cones to cleanliness and you would think with all the people that they go through with work employees and Community service employees they could have a cleaner store ...it just feels yuk shopping in a dirty store. Typical of St Vincent De Paul Thrift stores. Except for the tweekers shopping here on this day and doing the tweekie dance. Beware hold your purse close to you. Might scare some people but not me I am a hard core Thrifter and I've seen worse. There's also a lot of homeless in the area and they come in to shop as well. But they're usually friendly. Lots of merchandise to choose from. Lot of kitchen accessories and nic nacks. Some furniture. Good prices on clothing and accessories. Decent selection of books. When we were here they had a couple of boxes of fresh apples out front free to anyone. I grabbed one that was the best apple I've had in a really long time. They have there own private parking lot. Came in looked around found a child size baseball glove for $2 .. when I went to go pay they lady looked at us and told another lady to check the price (made me wait longer ) because it had a tag under it for 2.75 .. lady came back and said it was $5 .. is it because I look like I have money you want to charge me more . I wish I could give you full five stars, due to the fact that St. Vinny's does soooo much for the Reno Community especially the downtown vicinity. This store needs some TLC . There needs to be a better display of items and mobility flow floor layout. Went to St. Vincents at 1 o clock August 30th 2020. Was bringing my gal pal, Mary Lee for her 1st visit. She had always donated but had never been inside. Was a feast for the senses. I found Fantastic books and Awesome clothes. My pal found an organizer for her desk and had her eye on a Gorgeous cabinet. At checkout we were waited on by an Adorable, young Hispanic gal. Her name, I believe started with an E. She made us both Smile. We were met outside by our Favorite Greeter who always takes our donations with a Hello. His name is Guy. Great employees. Helped a friend with her new furniture and then loaded her gently used 3 piece sectional into my truck for donating to st Vincent's on 4th. Above average to excellent condition with no stains or wear and tear. Cushions were like new, heavy duty frame. Upon pulling into donation area we were greeted by a man that took one look and told us it was to worn. I asked "Worn where?" His reply my boss is very picky and this won't do. We were speechless and as we drove away quite puzzled decided to call the number listed for the thrift store. I spoke with Erika and asked if they needed couches donated that were in above average condition no stains no tears. She replied yes they would love to have it did we need to schedule a pick up. It was then I explained what had just happened. She was confused and went to discuss with another manager. Erika returned to phone and said to bring them back as they were not sure why anyone would refuse our donation. We decided to take them elsewhere. Won't return there. read more

I used to love this thrift store until my experience today. My friends and I were quite literally thrown out for not asking for an assistant when using the dressing rooms. They began accusing us of stealing clothes because a woman named Maria picked up an empty hanger (of which the shirt was being tried on by my friend) and then proceeded to kick us out of the dressing room, throwing every upersonal item of ours out on the floor and breaking my roommates phone. Their derogatory and judgmental comments (all because one of the girls was wearing a Patagonia shirt BECAUSE SHE WORKS AT THE OUTLET STORE) will not be forgotten. I will NEVER go back to this place. Lots of neat stuff. Sometime in the last several months they have begun over pricing everything. This seems ridiculous since it is free to them. They are pricing to increase profit margins and are coming across as an antique shop with no antiques just vintage collectables. A better idea would be to price the items to move so that they do not have to pay to store the stuff as long. Since they raised the prices it seems that a lot of the same junk is still out on the shelves and it is not rotating very fast at all. Maybe take a note from every thrift store, ever! and lower your prices. Don't over corporatize a charity. I'm going to make one or two more trips and if nothing changes I'm moving on to another store. read more

Worst store ever! They don't take back Electronics like they claim! Helping the community my foot! They only think of themselves and how to be rude! They always roll their eyes and give short answers to things! Never going to this place, found a pill bottle in toys stuff! Go anywhere else Savers, Goodwill anywhere but here! There's a reason they get bad reviews! Plus it was repulsive smelly! Take my 30.00 as a donation! Looking at it from the outside it's very depressing, lots of homeless people around in wheelchairs. We weren't hassled by any of them they were kind of just looming around. The inside of the store is pretty run down? Maybe just never that nice to begin with to even get ran down. The prices were decent enough. The staff were just kind of whatever attitude. You don't leave this place feeling clean. You also don't leave without some kind of amazing deal. Furniture is hit or miss, they usually have a sweet selection of records, and for some reason they have a GREAT selection of dresses. Can't figure that one out. Prices are clearly marked and everything is priced by item type. I'm a huge fan of this since some thrift stores have taken to overpricing name brands. I was so excited to be in my own again and start over new I was raised shopping goodwill always disliked but now I get to do it as a adult . I was having fun finding things to get started from dishes to furniture the staff when I first started shopping last year was so cool over the year they have bring new people in and the prices have been raised dramatically kind of disappointing since everything is given to them however the last two times I've been there I've bought things that didn't work that were very highly price been disappointed I loved shopping there furnished my whole house from there haven't been there in a while because of a change of crew and prices. read more

Ok I have to be blunt here...... I like thrift stores for 2 reasons. Main reason is I love a good deal Second reason - when you shop at a charity thrift like SPCA, Salvation Army your doing a good thing because of where A PORTION of the proceeds go towards..... yes a PORTION. I went to St. Vincents one time, and there was a lot of sad, homeless people gathered along side the building, one asked me for change....... (change - I know he was referring to money, but if he would grasp the meaning of true CHANGE he wouldn't be asking for change....) He smelled of beer. So once past the homeless people and awkward moment and double checking to make sure my car alarm was set, I got in the store and was surprised by its large size, and it all seemed to be very well organized..... prices were pretty good on most things, and the checkout was fast and friendly. My only complaint about the store...... was it seemed like EVERYTHING I seen and really WANTED - was labeled "not for sell" they were using it as in store decorations and displays..... so I was REALLY disappointed about that..... it seemed like the best stuff they didn't want to sell! Go figure? I also thought it kind of funny how in the back of the store they have they "Boutique" set up - its for "nicer" items that they can sell for higher prices - but again most of the items I wanted were for display only not for sale...... so I felt like after an hour of looking at items I couldn't actually buy I had went to a thrift shop museum instead of a place that NEEDED to sell items and make money to feed the hungry people sitting outside! I will go back again when I get in the mood to go thirfy shopping, because it is a clean place, well laid out, and fair prices. read more

This is another thrift store that I frequent. Just recently I had an excellent encounter with Greg. I saw an item that they had out on the floor and asked if they had any more in the back by any chance. Greg actually went in the back looked around and said yes, but I was told that they had this really weird rule about getting requested items for customers (he didn't like it either). Greg really wanted to help me but kind of had his hands tied, so he suggested I ask/talk/persuade his supervisor to let him get the items that I was inquiring about. I politely asked to speak with a supervisor and inquired about the item and asked if they can check if there was anymore in the back. This was when Greg said yes and mentioned if I gave him a few minutes he can dig it out for me; that's also if it was ok with the supervisor. After a few minutes I got my item and was thrilled I didn't have to do a second trip. It fills my heart to still see people like that, that are more than happy to provide real customer service instead of being L-A-Z-Y... LOVE LOVE LOVE this place for that specific encounter and heads up about the weird rule. read more

So if I could leave a zero I would. I have given my time to This charity before and we make it a point to take items to them because it goes back in the community. But after we just left from south meadows center when we attempted to drop off items mind you books, clothes , baskets household items, lamps ect and one ottoman with chair and a small chair the worker begins to refuse what we are giving him because he is to lazy to put it away. So we will pick some other charity to help out because of that man stay away from his lazy ass. Goodwill was more than happy to take my items and they helped me unload them. I like this place because the prices for used items are pretty good. I found an awesome dinette set for like 7 dollars. I mainly look at household times and furniture, which all seemed to be pretty decent and clean with fair pricing. Just be warned there are homeless people around the entrance area, they usually don't bother people, or they haven't bother me. read more

This is a typical thrift store. Sometimes you find a treasure, and sometimes you don't. It is a big store with lots of merchandise, and is pretty well organized. A lot of the work is likely done by volunteers or people doing community service or otherwise not experts (just an educated guess) so I don't expect perfection. But they do a good job with what they have. The atmosphere can be a little uncomfortable because of their location. But I've never had any real problems there. I almost always go home with something. Sheets, blankets, and towels are really good buys there, especially if you need them for pets. Be patient at checkout, as there is usually a line and not enough cashiers. read more

In the midst of this virus, it was a great help to me that the St. Vincent's Thrift Shop in downtown Reno was open to accept items no longer needed in our home. Great THANKS to the workers at St. Vincent's for providing so many services to our Reno downtown community: immigration advice, food pantry, clothing for the needy. There is dire poverty in Reno and St. Vincent's is there helping every day. Named after St. Vincent de Paul, this French Catholic priest dedicated himself to serving the poor. In 1622 Vincent was appointed a chaplain to the galleys. After working for some time in Paris among imprisoned galley slaves, he returned to be the superior of what is now known as the Congregation of the Mission, or the "Vincentians". These priests, with vows of poverty, chastity, obedience, and stability, were to devote themselves entirely to the people in smaller towns and villages. During the plague, he connected abandoned children to families. Babies left on church doorsteps to die, he found care and homes. His compassion awakened French society and the King himself.
