Very nice staff and they have really great clothes for cheap but some of the stuff it's torn or stained. I brought in a lot of nice clothing from boutiques/ America Eagle/ and pair of shoes from under armor plus more and they only gave me 11 dollars. I will still shop at the store but won't make the mistake to sell my clothing there! read more

This place is disgusting. I brought in clothes that I have never worn, some were even Adidas with tags. But they took one look at me said "we can't take trash bags, it has to be in a box". It was a Target bag, but there is nothing on the website that says that. I was just going to throw the bag out after due to the Coronavirus. I was a little shocked but then the person working there proceeded to look me up and down and say in a snarky tone, "and you have to bring them in freshly washed", even though she never even saw the clothes because they were still in my hand. The employees were also wearing their masks on their chins and not over their faces. Also, all of the clothes here are EXTREMELY out of style and gross. They claim to only take trendy ideas but based off of what they are selling it looks like the reject pile at a Walmart. I wanted to recycle my clothes and make a few dollars off of it, but now I'll just donate them to Goodwill; a much nicer and cleaner establishment with better options. read more

I just went in to this store with neatly pressed and folded clothes that were barely worn. They told me it would take 35 to 40 minutes for them to process the items. Well I went back and the manager told me they would not take any of the items as they were woman's sizes and their clientele is trendier than what I was presenting. She said repeatedly that they were in excellent condition but their customers would say they were not trendy enough. I asked her if she was saying that plus size women were not trendy and she did not answer me. I got home and my daughter was so astounded when I told her about my experience that she called the store. They told her the same thing that plus sizes were not trendy. How very insulting to the numerous groups of trendy plus size women. This also clearly seems like a case of size discrimination. The racks in the store also had a tag for sizes 4x to 6x and that certainly is plus size. We were given the name of a store in North Myrtle Beach that would not "be offended to take plus size items." Again they don't want the business of the larger women !!!!!!! In this day and age I cannot imagine a business operating with these guidelines that are so discriminatory. I thought we had arrived at a place where it doesn't matter about size, etc. But Plato's Closet does not seem to care about fairness. They could be giving the items away and I would never go to their store again. I know numerous people that do not shop at a store if a friend of their's has a bad experience there. Everytime I bring clothes for them to buy they don't take anything, I have gone over 5 times throughout the past couple years and they never want anything which is weird because I be bringing vans, converses, polo clothes and a lot of other nice clothes and I bring a lot everytime. They also give you barely any money for your stuff. read more
