Being 60 years old and a PADI certified diver and taking the class with my son I find this action and attitude completely unprofessional. Matt doesn't have the professionalism to be an instructor. Matt should NOT be an instructor. So classless.

Paddle boats are available to rent. Swim at the lifeguard protected swimming beach. Fish from the dock or from a boat in a quiet backwater. The campground offers modern bathrooms. There are hiking and biking trails that connect to the trail system in Council Bluffs. The picnic area has shelters for bigger groups and the Dream Playground is a wonderful place for kids with abilities and disabilities to really let loose and have fun. Lake Manawa is truly a great spot to enjoy being outside with family and friends.

We went tubing down the Elkhorn River in August. We tied up with a group of 9 people & 3 cooler…read moretubes for 4-1/2 hours. Every tube has a lifejacket tied to it. You do not have to wear it if you're an adult. It was almost 100 degrees & all sun, but it did not feel miserably hot, probably due to splashing in the water & cool drinks! The water is muddy & at one point there was a river stench in the air, but it did not last long. Thankfully!! There's a few sand bars you can stop & talk with other people-that was fun. It was an easy float. The river isn't that wide. There's a few logs to dodge & your butt is in the water so you have to lift up so you don't get snagged! Sometimes we got close to the rivers sides & I felt a paddle would've helped us better maneuver our float. We're able to bring pretty much anything other than glass-that'll cost ya $100 fine per bottle!! We brought a waterproof speaker, plenty of cool drinks, snacks & lots of sunscreen!! Water shoes are helpful and if you want to bring your phone, Amazon sells waterproof phone cases four for $8! Don't bring anything you don't want to lose. The river took a hat, shirt and a hair clip. We left our towels and dry clothes in the car. We only went with our swimsuit, hats & sunglasses. It would've been nice if there was a place to rinse off after getting out of the river. We really enjoyed this float and plan to make this an annual event !!

I have visited Two Rivers in Summer and Spring, but my most recent visit was in early winter - and…read morethe winter season, while different from the fun of summer days - is still a cool time to visit and see the changes the season has made on the park. The water at Two Rivers stays strikingly blue no matter which season you visit, so I think it's definitely one of the cleaner parks in the regions, when it comes to water quality. There also was no litter that I saw, so whoever is maintaining the park is doing a great job. Two Rivers has great walking trails around the lake, so it's a wonderful place to go get some exercise in a cool surrounding. It's also never been busy when I visited, so if you like a more tranquil walk, it could be a good option for you. They also offer camping, fishing, swimming, and other outdoor activities (probably more for in the summer season), as well as horse trails if you happen to have a horse! For boating, they only allow non powered boats, so keep that in mind if you're wanting to fish off your boat. While this isn't a huge park compared to a few others in the Omaha/Iowa area, it does offer a lot of activities and cool scenery for being a smaller park! Definitely worth a visit, even if it's a short one.

You will have to visit Wavecrest Park for that.

The city of Carter Lake, Iowa takes its name from the lake and there is an interesting background story to this lake located near the Omaha Airport. In 1930, Carter Lake was incorporated as a city in the state of Iowa, a status it has retained ever since but there has been lots of fighting over it. Carter Lakes Colorful History states that "Carter Lake was once called Cut-Off Island - a fitting name for a place torn between two cities and two states, yet connected to neither." Iowa and Nebraska constantly battled for the city named Carter Lake and it's water feature born of a change of course of the Missouri River. The ensuing legal battle over whether Iowa or Nebraska had jurisdiction over Cut-Off Island went to the Supreme Court. In a 1892 ruling, the court sided with Iowa on the basis that state lines remain the same when a river avulsed, or dramatically altered, its path in 1877. Therefore, the land had never left Iowa, despite its position on the Nebraska side of the river. It is weird driving through the area, as you are in Nebraska one minute and Iowa the very next. Carter Lake has not escaped water pollution problems and in 2005, the lake had reached a crisis level. Due to a number of factors, the lake water level was both dangerously low and polluted with toxic algae. Placed on Nebraska's Section 303(d) List of Impaired Waters for elevated concentrations of nutrients, the lake was no longer a place for recreation and beauty, but a haven for floating contaminants. Interested citizens formed the "Carter Lake Environmental Assessment and Rehabilitation Council," and a community based watershed plan was organized to help improve the water quality. Now Carter Lake is a recreational hub for the area. The park is a great place to launch a boat for water sports and fishing, and also has baseball and football fields, basketball courts, and areas for picnics and larger gatherings. It is a beautiful gem of a lake and worth 5 YELP STARS.

Just look at the walls in her shop. Yep she caught them all!! She has an excellent selection of rods and reels and since the CoVID thing has interrupted so much, Vicki has managed to adjust and make up for lost time. No walk in traffic, but a more than brisk drive up traffic. In my case, a call to her shop told her what I had in my thoughts and drove out. She had a wonderful St Croix rod and Okuma reel ready to go. And this is drive up! Again this is a hidden resource and valuable to all that drive up. Once the quarantine is over, stop in at take a look at the trophies! Great place great help!

The lake is beautiful there are geese both on the ground and in the air and at Sunset they really come down and Chow Down on the lawn I think. The coolest thing is across the street from the airport is small Lots parking lots that is make wonderful cell phone waiting blogs when you are expecting someone at the airport very handy indeed
