I was really hopeful for this place. The atmosphere was good, the music was good, the waitress was good and the lettuce was green. Those were the pros. The cons-the salad (Cobb) had about a teaspoon of cheese, a teaspoon of bacon, a half tablespoon of tomato and about a half tablespoon each of ham and chicken, both of which were so dried out I felt like I was softening a buffalo hide! Lunch partner got a philly sandwich with shoe leather meat and a stale bun. We actually drive to the next town and had another meal. I had such high hopes for this place. Had a very unfortunate experience at this restaurant. We walked in and got a head nod from a waitress as she walked by with food, but not greeted or told if we should seat ourselves. When she came back in we asked and she directed us to a table in a back room. We waited 15 minutes and when we realized she had forgotten us, we asked if we could sit outside. She seemed very rushed and flustered despite very few tables with customers. Our first round came quickly but it took 20 minutes for her to come back for our food order so we went inside to place the order at the bar. An hour passed before I again walked inside to check in to make sure our food was on the way, just two plates of nachos. I was told they had broken several can openers and that's what took so long. If that actually happened, I believe we should have been notified that the food would take longer, but by the time we ate it was cold and dark out and we had subpar nachos quickly before leaving. The table next to us also waited a full hour for 2 salads and a meatball sub. I understand things can go wrong and/or mistakes happen but owning up to them would've helped much more than remaining ignored. Was hopeful because the place is cute, but would not recommend based on our very poor service and subpar food read more

I can't review the food, because we never did get served. We waited at the entrance of this small, crowded bar/pub for almost 20 minutes--We understood that they were short-staffed and we were more than willing to take as long as necessary to get seated and served. BUT- we were never even acknowledged. No one told us to seat ourselves or wait to be seated, offered a menu or to take a beverage order while we waited, etc. Servers walked past us several times and completely ignored us. While waiting for any signal about wait time, seating, etc. we read the signage on the door, which declared their right to ignore all state, federal and local public health masking and social distancing mandates and recommendations. We left. If a long wait with a rude staff for an overpriced burger in crowded tavern that doesn't respect Covid public health guidelines is your thing, this could be your place of choice to eat in Fairplay. We stopped in to this Steakhouse on our way home from Breckenridge. What a great choice The food was delicious and the flavours were great. Ribeye was cooked just perfect and the Creme Brulee was light and creamy. We enjoyed the local wine too.The owners Andrew (the Chef) and Nivea where friendly, welcoming and were excited to serve us. Tried this relatively new place in Fairplay. We walked in and sat at the bar. It was a Saturday afternoon and quite busy. The two waitresses were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. There was a curly haired one and a tall slender one which we were told was an owner. We were invisible at the bar. My husband wanted to leave but I suggested we give them a chance. We witnessed them both saying to us and three other customers, oh, you must have snuck in. Listen, I know it was busy but some of us are possible repeat customers not just those people on their way to Breckenridge who will never be back. You need to pay attention to customers that walk into your place. Say hello, I will be right with you. Acknowledge people. Don't let them sit there fuming. Perhaps, you need a full time bartender and two wait staff. If this problem isn't corrected, then you will go under FAST. Plenty of bars in Fairplay who can provide good service, drinks and lunch. read more

The building is nice. I went here once before and the food was not bad but not extraordinary either and definitely not worth the price we payed. This time, I ordered Togo. I got two blt's, one with cottage cheese (which was a 2 dollar upcharge I wasn't informed about) and the other with chips. The waitress said it would be 20 minutes which I thought was a little long for two sandwiches but I didn't mind. When I arrived the bar only had two gentlemen sitting at it, and although I didn't look into the dining room it didn't appear that busy. After receiving the sandwiches I opened the box to and to my dismay I discovered that my bacon was burnt to a black crisp. This is absolutely unacceptable to send food out like this especially after a 20 minute wait. I would not recommend this place to a friend and I won't be back. read more
