Maybe I just needed to try again. But alas. While there are some good art pieces here and good artists, I again feel like this is all about exploiting the work of people long dead rather than focusing on living artists who need to sell their work. Again, they do have a few interesting galleries that I follow, like the Fountain House Gallery, who focuses on art made by those with psychiatric conditions. Just like when I attended in 2024, it was crowded and stuffy and hard to connect with gallery owners and artists. It was hard to see some pieces because of the crowds. I'm not sure I would ever pay 60 bucks to see this show again. It's absolutely suffocating to the point you can't enjoy the art. You're just as well off visiting galleries across the Burroughs. They are free and not crowded to the brim, and you'll still see some very interesting and off the beaten path pieces.

The Outsider Art Show is at the Puck Building in NYC every January…read more It's one of the largest global shows featuring works of Outsider, Visionary, Folk and Intuitive artists. Sometimes overwhelming because there is SO much great art but at the same time VERY informative, as these dealers know these works/artists inside and out. Do not be afraid to ask the dealer questions. It's their passion and will be happy to talk with you. It's a must see, especially if your interested in starting a collection. Secret: Many dealers who couldn't get space in the show have rented spaces in art galleries in the area.....so if you didn't get to see enough....there is MORE!

Discovered Socrates Sculpture Park on a visit to the Noguchi Museum down the block. Awesome to…read moreexplore this 5 acre riverside park that exhibits a range of eclectic larger size sculptures. Socrates also has some open space to also enjoy the view of Roosevelt Island and Manhattan on the other side of the East River. My favorite sculptures there are John Ahearn's painted bronze "Raymond and Toby," "Daleesha," and "Corey." Nearby, you'll also find a Free Store that perhaps has something to take home. (Full disclosure: I did not check out its actual contents.) "The Cubes," a new permanent building in the park, provides administrative offices as well as multi-use additional space. Each…read morepainting spoke of a real life situation or feeling, and somehow their brushstrokes accentuated the whole thing. Feeling like a third wheel. Feeling too drunk at the end of the night. Being around that guy who laughs too much. An intimate kiss. A moment of vulnerability. I am bummed I missed Stephen Mackey's "Nocturnal Children" because I like morbid stuff. Looking back at past exhibitions, I would have enjoyed most of them: weird futuristic stuff, multiple colorful pieces under the name, "psychomania." I see some people mentioned the staff. I didn't have much interaction. I came in, they acknowledged my existence, and continued on with their business. In my experience, most galleries are like this. Sometimes desk attendants don't even acknowledge you at all. Most galleries, including this one, are free. Unless you're looking to buy or discuss specifically . . . what are we really complaining about here?

You just couldn't be quiet, you just 'had' to waste time responding. Typical hyper narcissist needing constant attention. You pay for rent in a city with rising crime during a time artists don't need brick and mortar galleries. That's why you are so mad. In your own words, you are quoted saying in American Art Collector's magazine marketing kit that your gallery didn't get any calls from collectors sometimes for weeks until they saw an ad of yours in that magazine. You are completely irrelevant without artists. And all artists need is exposure to collectors. IG and these notable art magazines do that. It's the truth. Learn to deal with it.

David Zwirner Gallery - UES Yayoi Kusama - Infinity Nets…read moreDisplayed: 11/2/17-12/22/17 Researching what I actually saw was necessary for me. Is it possible for someone to sit and paint the teeniest of repetitive patterns on a 28"x35" canvas multiple times, over and over? Why, obviously. At first, it was hard for me to fathom someone sitting or standing, tirelessly creating such work. But clearly, Yayoi Kusama, the oldest living artist at 88, has been creating these concentration of works the majority of her life. Admiringly, I must add, Yayoi shows whimsy in her art as well as her sense of style, even to this day in her octogenarian years. Her repetitious canvas works, that can pull in anywhere over $7M USD at auction, provides her audience with visions of obsessive strokes, creating precise curved lines and dots of creativity, over and over again. Each canvas different, yet the same...Nets of Infinity. David Zwirner's newly renovated Upper Eastside gallery, a restored beauty all its own, had only two other gallery goers when I arrived. There were no lines, no rush, no fuss. So this gave me ample time to sillily envision paintbrush in hand, dipping said brush in acrylic, applying brush to canvas and through this vision replicate her work...Ha! A funny visualization that's not even possible, as there's not an artistic bone in me. But honestly, that's where her hallucinogenic work took me. Appreciative to have viewed these detailed works of, dare I say again, repetition. Though, I understand her works are no longer on display in NYC. But be sure, Yayoi's art is accessible elsewhere globally.

If you're a huge fan of Yayoi Kusama, this location will allow you to view her works with lots of…read morebreathing room. The downside is that this is a VERY small portion of the exhibition. Unequally split between the W 19th Street gallery, there are only two viewing rooms at E 69th. One only has 4 paintings. They are large with a carefully executed chain-mail effect. Personally I like them very much. A couple will definitely wind up in my phone wallpaper rotation along with Keith Haring and Emily Pwerle. The gallery itself has the prerequisite white walls and high ceilings in an elegant old townhouse. The exhibit is on the second level. I totally forgot to take a picture of the spiral staircase! Someone do that for me please. There's a frightfully small elevator in a closet if you need the accessibility. I dread going down to the W 19th Street gallery honestly. This may be all I get to see. :(
