An absolute gem of a frame shop in Queens. Tucked away in a second-floor location, it's not hard to…read moreget to but also not a place you are likely to discover from the street. I came in with 4 different art pieces to frame and had a clear idea of what I wanted, but the owner and framer is also very happy to provide artistic guidance, suggestions, and fast estimates if you need it. I was able to get all my small to medium sized pieces custom framed (with a mix of glass types, ranging from basic and cheap to archival-quality and expensive) for less than $1000, which was spectacular.

Really good prices compared to manhattan. Nice job. Did it in a good turn around time. I would go…read moreback again when i have something to get framed. I'd give it more stars but what i didnt like was the person who helped me showed me one frame and expected me to take it. It was ok. I asked if she could recommend others. She put one more in front of me that didnt match. So i said can I take a look around. I found the right frame and it was the same price as the first. It was an expensive piece of fine art and I would have expected more interaction w someone who cares about frames. If I didnt push id have gotten one ok frame. In other frame stores ive been to on the upper east side they really take the time to find the right one that goes w your art, your style etc. They ask about your decor, where it will be hung Of course they frame for the Met but still, cant hurt to really care about what you do. So this biz could use a little more of that and then they'd be great. Good selection of frames. Nicely done. Solid wiring on the back. So if you know what you like you'll have no problem.

While walking in Manhattan you never know who you will meet…read more Such was the case in Midtown East one late summer morning when I spotted a man holding a paint roller extension pole and wearing brightly colored paint-splotched sneakers. It was a chance encounter with this rainbow beam of a person that made me stop in my tracks and take a closer look. I'm so glad that I took that moment because the man wearing those DayGlo kicks is actually a very gifted and multi-talented Urban Artist known as Kam. I asked naively, "What are you going paint?" Kam responded enthusiastically, "I'm on location here working on an interior." This was my introduction to Kam's Art and what piqued my interest in learning more about his work. I began by visiting Kam's Instagram and quickly became amazed at his many artistic expressions and abilities: https://www.instagram.com/kam.s.art/ Viewing Kam's Art I experienced an entire range of emotions from joy to wonderment. Kam's art work is visually entertaining. Then I visited: https://kamsart.myshopify.com/ Here I learned about the variety and quality of the many art pieces Kam produces that includes: Murals, Original Paintings on Canvas, Logos, Table Tops, Digital Art, Wood Panels Art, Mugs, Caps, High Quality Prints, Stickers and more. It was at this point I felt compelled to own a piece of Kam's Art. Kam the Artist is a phenom and get this - he's self-taught! His commitment to the arts and being an artist is truly noble. I became further intrigued when I viewed Kam's interiors work. As Kam puts it he can do "all things walls" including: renovations, tiling, painting, fixtures and floors. You will be blown away by how multi-talented Kam is. Kam, also known as Kelvin Morel, hails from Maspeth, Queens. His paintings are displayed at the Museum of Urban Arts in Long Island City. You will be delighted by the beauty of his murals. Many NYC restaurants and salons feature his work. Kam is also active in arts education for children and is even available to book for live painting events and kid's parties. People connect to Kam's art and kids love him because of his use of color and his passion for painting is apparent! When Kam paints people are drawn to his artwork. He participates in outdoor and indoor arts events throughout the year. Kam chose art as his profession. It can be said that art chose Kam. He has been drawing prolifically since early childhood and has never stopped. Watch this video of Kam's 2-D interior / exterior walls drawing he did by hand for a restaurant opening. I guarantee once you watch this eight-minute video you will become a 'Kam fan!' It's absolutely genius. You will ask yourself - how did he do that? Kam is an original! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHiU9Rv1S9E&feature=youtu.be Warning! Once you have viewed Kam's art you too will experience an urge to own one at least of his art pieces. You will notice that his art has range and is imaginative. Kam's paintings feature faces with soulful eyes, mystical musings, whimsical characters, abstracts, industrials with flair and works with sci-tech currents and more -- all expressed exceedingly well. Kam's Art does what art is meant to do. Viewing his paintings will make you stop what you're doing and take a closer look. You'll be inspired by his creative color displays. Buying a piece of Kam's art is a gift that will last a lifetime and is a worthwhile investment. Plus, Kam ships! Kam's Art Painting LLC is a licensed and insured New York based, residential / commercial, interior/ exterior painting company. He is dedicated to meeting client expectations by delivering excellent service and quality craftsmanship. Reach out to Kam via email here: kampaintingllc@gmail.com. As a career journalist in NYC I have covered many people and events. I am grateful for this opportunity to report that Kam is the single most talented multimedia artist and painter I have ever met. Why not stop for a moment and take a closer look at Kam's Art? You will be so glad that you did!

It seems the New York gallery was briefly shuttered due to Covid but is back in the swing of things. Currently, they are showcasing Zachary Armstrong's Twelve Animals which I found to be a very whimsical take on the animals of the Chinese zodiac. The paintings were really textured lending it an air of playfulness. On exhibition as well are Curtis Barnes (We Wear the Mask) and Robert Rauschenberg (Subjective View). Barnes is also based in Dayton, OH but instead of animals, explores the Black experience in the Midwest with an equally lively palette.
