It was a chance encounter with this rainbow beam of a person that made me stop in my tracks and take a closer look. I'm so glad that I took that moment because the man wearing those DayGlo kicks is actually a very gifted and multi-talented Urban Artist known as Kam. I asked naively, "What are you going paint?" It seems the New York gallery was briefly shuttered due to Covid but is back in the swing of things. Currently, they are showcasing Zachary Armstrong's Twelve Animals which I found to be a very whimsical take on the animals of the Chinese zodiac. The paintings were really textured lending it an air of playfulness. On exhibition as well are Curtis Barnes (We Wear the Mask) and Robert Rauschenberg (Subjective View). Barnes is also based in Dayton, OH but instead of animals, explores the Black experience in the Midwest with an equally lively palette.
