What my bowl should of been

Wow omg I'm in so much disbelief. I ordered over the phone for pickup at 7:40pm on Sunday night, on march 22nd & arrived at 7:58pm to pick up my order; making me the last customer to pick up my order. I've had many açaí bowls from playa bowls, not this location but this is a major disappointment. I've never had an açaí bowl with only granola and coconut flakes. I see about 2-3 blueberries and that's it. Per the websites description of an açaí bowl, it should have an açaí base, granola then the fruit on top w/ honey & I requested coconut flakes on top. I literally received coconut flakes & 3 blueberries & a ridiculous amount of granola with no honey or anything. I'm baffled. I literally am saddened by this, because I love playa bowls & this would have been my dinner. SMH. Hopefully they'll offer to at least remake this for me in the future. Oh let me add on, what I THOUGHT was blueberries are actually old blueberries. Litterally won't even smash, not edible and very hard like pebbles. WOW, this is a horrible first impression. Glad I didn't bite into them, coulda broke my tooth. & they gave me NO RECEIPT

This was just a very fast to go order, but the two members of the staff in the store were very accommodating. I ordered a more protein oriented shake, and it was made fresh to order with fresh ingredients. They also had açai bowls that looked amazing. Also, it had a very chill laid-back vibe to it. I would certainly recommend others to try this for a post workout or meal replacement substitute.

Playa Bowl's grand opening was today and I came to support them. The staff all seemed great and friendly. It's a good sized space with enough seating inside. The decor is beachy and funky fun. Their menu is quite extensive with different based bowls and smoothies. I tried the Electric Mermaid which was pitaya based. Everything in the bowl was fresh and great tasting. Excited to have this in the neighborhood!

I've been waiting for this Playa Bowls to open in Harbor East!! The women that work here are such sweet angels. They have always made my smoothies so yummy and perfect. I love the beach decor! The windows that open up are soooo perfect for spring and soon summer! I can't wait to have everything in the menu!

I've been ordering delivery from this place since they opened but glad I finally stopped by to dine in! Upon entering, I was greeted by staff and fun music. I ordered protein tropical bowl and added peanut butter and coco whip, since I wasn't constrained by a lid. Delicious as always! Can't wait for warmer weather, as I will definitely be coming in more.

Coincidentally, I will be going to the Playa Bowls in Burtonsville today for lunch! I love Playa…read moreBowls (see my 5-star review of the Burtonsville one). That's the only location within 10 miles of my home. The only other location of Playa Bowls I've been to was the Baltimore County one by Quarry Lake. Yesterday, I reviewed the out of town P pick in 2025 alphabet series. Representing the runner up to the out of town pick, P is for Playa Bowls. I visited this location on Friday, December 26. I had a deal for a free peppermint iced coffee with bowl purchase. I had visited my parents in PA for Christmas and was coming back into town. I saw this location wasn't too far off 695. I had never been to Quarry Lake and is a nice area. I was here for one of those weird very late lunch around 4 PM, but I wanted the deal and the timing was right. It was pretty dead around here as it was the day after Christmas. I parked in a parallel spot right in the front; they also have a parking lot in the back. Staff was nice. I paid for some strawberry bowl with peppermint to get the free seasonal iced coffee. They didn't have any issue getting the deal to work. I waited at one of their seats near the food station. This location is a lot bigger than the Burtonsville one. They made the bowl first, and then they said we're out of the flavoring for the coffee, so it'd just be a black coffee. I said that wasn't the same as what I wanted or paid for. They apologized saying that their shipments come in on Thursday, but it was Christmas so shipments didn't come. So, it made sense why they were out. But I think perhaps they could've been more prepared and gotten extra shipment on Thursday, 12/18. They did say I could switch out for a smoothie. I said I don't want a smoothie, I'm already having this fruity bowl. He said I could pick any drink I wanted. I got some juice cleanse drink that was normally $8.99. I figured that could be good for me plus I wanted to ideally get their most expensive tier drink in lieu of not getting the iced coffee. The bowl was delicious per normal. Fresh strawberries, banana, granola, chocolate, peppermint, etc. all great. As for the juice drink, it was some cayenne fruit juice. It was kind of weird, had a bit of a kick, not my cup of tea. I drank it, but really would've liked the iced coffee better. Thankfully, I had some water in the car to wash down the strange juice. So, I was kind of annoyed. They should've known and warned me before I paid. I'm not sure I would've gone with Playa Bowl if they had been out of the coffee; that the catalyst to go down there was the free iced coffee deal. In spite of that negative, like Burtonsville location, the bowls are great, staff is nice, and they did try to accommodate with free any drink.

Its located in the perfect relaxed scenic portion of the Quarry. When I arrived it was a constant flow of patrons at 8pm. Parking isnt chaotic as its plenty from the front to the back. (Two entrance doors for this eatery) Walking in had a feel of being on an oceanfront with the wall decor and choice of colors. The menu of acai bowl options are many. I chose the tropical bowl without really paying attention; thinking it was the most popular one where ever you go. To receive it and its the original base with pineapple, bananas, honey and coconut flakes. It was the perfect acai bowl and tasty. The failure of me paying attention meant great taste of another choice I would probably not have decided on. The light and perfect treat that will have me coming back to Playa Bowls no matter the time.

It's a smallish space and indoor seating was really full at 11 AM on a weekday. Because of rain, the outdoor benches were not in use, and I saw closed-up patio-umbrellas too. I ordered from a kiosk or you could order online or in person. I got the bacon egg and cheese croissant and it was made quickly by welcoming staff. It was a regular size croissant with very light cheese and a layer of crispy bacon pieces in a well toasted croissant. The flavor was good. This café also sells a number of beverages, including fresh ground espresso, and various teas And they sell some bakery goods, candies, and quite a variety of dry-packaged teas and coffee. The parking right in front Café Jun can get pretty full, but there's plenty parking in the rest of the shopping center. You can enter the shopping area from eastbound US-40 Baltimore National Pike, or from westbound Frederick Road. It's just east of Centennial Lane/Bethany Lane and about a mile West of US 29. The larger shopping area has a diner 3-strip mall sections, one of which is called Princess Shopping Center, so I'm a little confused which mall-name covers which shops. They have a summer concert planned! That should be fun!

People do seem to respect the 90MIN seating window though so you should be able to find a seat. You order and pay at the counter first and then they give you a table number card. This is how they find you to serve your food. I ordered a regular matcha latte, a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on croissant bread and their famous croffle. I loved their matcha latte. It's pre-sweetened so no need to add extra vanilla syrup or anything. This does not taste like a traditional matcha, which in my opinion tastes like dirt. This is a sweeter, dessert like matcha. I didn't care for the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. It was kind of dry and it tasted like something was missing. The croffle was amazing. It has a nutty, pecan like taste to it and it was topped with vanilla gelato and blueberries. I couldn't really taste the maple syrup but it was delicious nonetheless.

I love juice, and thought this would be a great little boost to get me through the rest of the day. The place was empty when I walked in, aside from one staff member sitting at a table in the corner. I headed straight to the board to take a look at the offerings. I stood at the counter looking around for at least 5 minutes until a staff member in the back alerted the staff member sitting at the table. After some internal conversation, one of the staff members approached the counter and asked for my order. I didn't find this to be incredibly professional. Before ordering, I wanted to ask how large the servings were and if they could make any substitutions. I wasn't dazzled by the staff member's lackadaisical attitude and curt responses. To me, that expresses that me ordering is inconveniencing them. At the end of the day, I settled for a purple passion smoothie. I asked for a little extra ice and was glad that they were able to accommodate my request. The smoothie tasted alright. Perhaps the establishment had an off day, and I'm sure the environment would be more exciting without a pandemic because the interior is bright and inviting. I believe in second chances, and if I were to return, I might try one of their raw juices. Hoping for a better experience next time!
