Popular restaurant and café, good food, many coffee and tea varieties, including dry packaged. Café Jun is a restaurant and café in the Forest Green shopping center on US 40. It's a smallish space and indoor seating was really full at 11 AM on a weekday. Because of rain, the outdoor benches were not in use, and I saw closed-up patio-umbrellas too. I ordered from a kiosk or you could order online or in person. I got the bacon egg and cheese croissant and it was made quickly by welcoming staff. It was a regular size croissant with very light cheese and a layer of crispy bacon pieces in a well toasted croissant. The flavor was good. This café also sells a number of beverages, including fresh ground espresso, and various teas And they sell some bakery goods, candies, and quite a variety of dry-packaged teas and coffee. The parking right in front Café Jun can get pretty full, but there's plenty parking in the rest of the shopping center. You can enter the shopping area from eastbound US-40 Baltimore National Pike, or from westbound Frederick Road. It's just east of Centennial Lane/Bethany Lane and about a mile West of US 29. The larger shopping area has a diner 3-strip mall sections, one of which is called Princess Shopping Center, so I'm a little confused which mall-name covers which shops. I ate here on a Saturday in late April around 11:00AM. The line was out the door and seating was packed inside. People do seem to respect the 90MIN seating window though so you should be able to find a seat. You order and pay at the counter first and then they give you a table number card. This is how they find you to serve your food. I ordered a regular matcha latte, a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on croissant bread and their famous croffle. I loved their matcha latte. It's pre-sweetened so no need to add extra vanilla syrup or anything. This does not taste like a traditional matcha, which in my opinion tastes like dirt. This is a sweeter, dessert like matcha. I didn't care for the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. It was kind of dry and it tasted like something was missing. The croffle was amazing. It has a nutty, pecan like taste to it and it was topped with vanilla gelato and blueberries. I couldn't really taste the maple syrup but it was delicious nonetheless. read more

Nice coffee spot with great service and a convenient location with plenty of parking. I also appreciate that they offer healthy food options on the menu, although I didn't get a chance to try them this time. This review is specifically about the coffee. I really enjoyed the cappuccino, and I like that they offer agave as a sweetener. That said, I do wish the cappuccino had a bolder coffee flavor. On its own, it leaned a bit too milky for my taste. However, once I added an extra shot, it made a big difference, I got the richer coffee flavor I was looking for along with an extra boost. The temperature was good, but I did notice that even when I requested it extra hot, it came out the same each time, which was a bit puzzling. Overall, I'd give it 4 stars. I love working outside of the house sometimes and came across this cafe via TikTok. It was pretty packed but seating wasn't the worst. I will say, if you're going alone it may be a little more difficult to find seating but since it was two of us, we found seating and then ordered. Signage does say to order food before sitting, but if you plan to stay, I would do the opposite. The wait wasn't long for food and you get the Wifi code by ordering, as the password is on the bottom of the receipt. Certain seating doesn't allow laptops, so pay attention to that. The chipotle chicken wrap was SO good and I loved the Island Green smoothie. Pricing was on the typical side for a cafe, not too expensive but not the cheapest either. I would go again to see if it's always busy, plus to get that wrap again. We went on a Tuesday around 12PM. read more

Not a bad spot if you want to study or hang out with friends. The ambience here is very cozy, with a theme of old 80s and 70s music. Tables near the entrance are for conversing and do not allow laptops. The study/laptop tables are further in the back. There is a variety of pastries and lunch items you can order, as well as coffee and other sweet drinks. Unfortunately nothing I had was really anything to write home about. The Pistachio latte I got was too creamy, thick, and sweet...not to my liking at all. I got a wrap from them in the past and it was pretty bland too. Came in for a beverage and snack. I had been wanting to try Cafe June for quite a while. The cashiers are incredibly patient, helpful, and kind. I ordered a mocha frappe, mocha latte, and a cranberry scone. The scone was more savory than sweet which honestly threw me off, it was very fresh and soft. Felt very overwhelming walking in. Nice decorations but very loud, talking and the music playing over the speakers, not the place if you're looking for quiet time. I could barely hear what I was being asked when ordering. I ordered a matcha latte (12 oz for $5.69, which is pretty average for the area) and a Bacon, Egg and Cheese. I got up charged $1 for an english muffin even though it is not posted anywhere that it is extra. $8 for a bacon egg and cheese is pretty crazy. It was also pretty small, a frozen starbucks sandwich would probably be better. I would say the matcha was worth it but I would skip the sandwich. They also increase $5-6 after breakfast. read more

I was disappointed by the value. I paid $7 for a grilled cheese sandwich with no sides, and it felt overpriced for what was served. The sandwich was okay, but for that price I expected at least chips, fruit, or a small side. The atmosphere was nice, but the portion and value just didn't match the cost. I love this cafe! I ordered the einspanner and an oat quinoa waffle. They both are nothing like any other coffee shop I've ever been to. So delicious and unique. I also brought my Maryland cafe passport with me to the restaurant and the workers were so intrigued and excited I was there taking notes and journaling about the coffee. This is my favorite cozy and cute local cafe with plenty of seating and lots of free parking! Whenever I go here to study or do work, I'm able to get so much done because of the quiet and productive atmosphere. The coffees, teas, food, and pastries here are a delicious study break treat too! My go-to order is an iced latte with a croffle, my order comes out perfect every time. I, also, love how the baristas at Cafe June always greet you as you enter and help you out with what to order! I got a double espresso shot with their sweet cream and asked for the crushed pistachio nuts on top. She gladly put in my customized order without an issue. I also got their Salted Vanilla Cold Brew ($5.99). I am not sure what kind of coffee beans they use, but it was really good. They serve breakfast food items from 7 AM to 12 PM and lunch items from 7 AM to 4 PM. They also have a showcase of baked goods as well. In addition to coffee, they also serve tea and fruit smoothies. I came here around noon and it was pretty packed. They have a 90 minute seating limit to accommodate other customers. The wall decor had covers of vinyl records hanging around too. As someone who requires gluten free food (have Celiac disease), the lure of gluten free waffles sounded good. Apparently, the waffles are their only gluten free option on the menu. No where on the menu are there alternatives (such as gluten free bread for any of the sandwiches). For me that limits my options. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. There is limit of 90 minutes to remain at the tables but this is very reasonable since the dining area is limited. The honey strawberry waffle was very tasty and not overly sweet which was very welcome. The chai latte was good but the last mouthful was full of tea leaves. I'd probably return if someone else wanted to go but it is apparently a local hot spot that many people enjoy. Although the Yelp listing doesn't explicitly state, they cut off the breakfast at 12pm. The staff is happy to help you if you have any questions and the food comes out quickly. The star of the food was the honey strawberry oat quinoa waffle. It had a wonderful crisp to it and the flavors danced around my mouth like hearing a great song from my past. It was amazing! Meh, the coffee is mediocre. The only thing decent is the cold brew, everything else is super sweet. The bread I had was stale too. There isn't anything else on route 40 for coffee so this is the best you can find. The staff is nice but they have very little seating due to how busy it is. If you plan to do any work here, there are no outlets and they have a rule where you cant use laptops on certain tables. They also have time limits too that are actually enforced because an employee came to the table next to me and told them to leave since they were there over the time. read more

My only complaint is the owner is on a power trip, he's constantly checking receipts and making sure you don't stay past your 90 minute limit even if there are multiple open tables. The sunrise pesto and soup make a filling lunch. The waffles smell amazing but I haven't tried one yet. Seating can be limited. Some tables have 90 min max., but it doesn't seem to be enforced, if it's busy, I limit my stay. Staff is kind and helpful. The communal table in the front is often taken by students. We have been trying coffee around the Columbia and DC area for a little while now and Cafe June stands out as a top pick (Read as we have been here 3 times). The staff are friendly, we usually go right at opening so there hasn't been a line or a long wait. The shop is quaint with records on the walls. It is quiet enough to enjoy conversation without it feeling sterile. Their signature latte (EINSPANNER) is awesome so is the HONEY STRAWBERRY WAFFLE. When I walked in the very full dining room was a bit off putting but luckily I located a seat at the window counter. I reviewed the menu from the car so I had an idea of what I might want to try. However, it was the sign on the door for a pistachio latte that immediately grabbed my attention. The latte along with the croffle was what I ordered. Both arrived quickly and were sweet and thiiicckk! I was able to finish the croissant/waffle combination but the latte had to be saved for a later time when the ice could dilute the flavors/consistency. wanted an iced latte and wanted to try something local. once you opened the door, you were greeted with the cutest little cafe. the line was not long at all and we were greeted immediately. i decided to try a plain iced latte out to get a feel for their espresso. after tip, it was about $6.50 for a 12oz iced latte with whole milk. a little pricey. but after taking a sip, i was so happy i got it. the espresso is rich and almost sweet on its own. there were a lot of people in there and it was super homey. if i lived close, id definitely spend some time with friends in here. look forward to my next visit! read more
