Nice place! Easy parking. Staff nice and knowledgeable. Your standard Playa Bowl...if that makes sense.

To start off, I came in when there was no people at all, so it wasn't busy. I then ordered a Nutaya bowl with NO coconut flakes because they always make me feel sick. I mentioned to the girl at the register twice about no coconut flakes and just add extra nutella instead. She then IGNORED me even though i said it TWICE, and got a load of coconut flakes that were packed into the nutella. I'm disgusted with the two girls because they ignored me when i tried speaking to them, and just looked at me weirdly. Once I got home i had to hand pick every flake out so I wouldn't throw it up. I'm so disgusted and disappointed with how the two girls acted, and really ruined my overall experience. Overall just remember to check your order before leaving, even if you tell these women what you dont want twice, they just dont care enough about your needs to listen. For the insane price we pay, they should at least get our order right. (In the picture below you can see how much she PACKED THEM INTO THE NUTELLA. Its so gross. I used my fingers to take as much out as i can but they were so engraved in there. read more

I come to this location often and normally enjoy my experience but I had many issues with my order tonight. I placed an order for pick up on the app for 2 Nutella açaí bowls. When I went to pick up my order, I checked my bag and noticed they only gave me 1 bowl so I asked them about it and they made the 2nd missing bowl. Thinking everything was fine, I left the store to head home. When I got home, I realized the second açai bowl only had the açai and granola- nothing else. How do you forget the fruit toppings and Nutella? And this is after forgetting the bowl in total? I tried calling to see if I could talk to someone about it but there is no way to reach them on the phone so make sure to check your order before you leave! read more

You don't truly appreciate something until you lose it. O Playa Bowls, where do I begin? You were the one reason I would go to the beach; you helped me pretend I was healthy for denying ice cream; you never fail to leave me with a searing brain freeze. Having since moved from my hometown and tried other states' açaí bowls, I can confidently say that Playa Bowls is the OG. For the price of ~$10, you get a crazy amount of purée and fruit toppings--they really fill the bowl to the brim. Customization is also easy and I got to try both the açaí and the green bowls in the 50/50 option. Didn't get Nutella this time but that usually is the perfect topping to this otherwise healthy bowl! Jersey ain't Jersey without Playa Bowls. Will miss this as I move further from my roots. read more

I live a few blocks away from this Playa Bowls. I love your açaí so much that I stop by for bowls about 4 days a week. I have nothing but great things to say about your store but for 1 minor issue I sincerely hope you guys take the time to address. Your posted business hours and the time your staff is choosing to lock the doors seems to be off for a few weeks now. Tonight was the 3rd time in the last 2 weeks I've stoped by to find the place locked up. The time was 8:40 The only reason I'm writing this and bringing it to your attention is because unlike the 2 other instances these last 2 weeks tonight your staff of 3 individuals ran and hid in the back room rather than acknowledge the customer at the door. Im not sure why they would hide rather than say "we're closed". Point taken. In my experience closed at 9pm means we shut the doors at 9pm and then take a few minutes to clean up. If something changed and you guys are now cleaning up at 8:30 so you're able to be out the door at 9pm then your posted business hours should say 8:30 not 9:00. You guys are great and this location is one of my favorites. Please fix this. read more

Another wonderful addition to this little suburban Jersey strip mall. With the high school and lots of houses all within walking distance I think Playa Bowls is here to stay! Went next door (they also make smoothies and acai bowls) for a salad last week and noticed they were opening soon. Decided to take my daughter (who is a big time acai bowl fan) this morning. She ordered a smoothie and acai bowl. I ordered a fresh juice and acai bowl with Nutella. Both bowls were tasty and fresh. Our smoothie and juice were both really refreshing and delicious. I loved the clean, modern interior. It almost makes you feel like you're at their beach location. Although everyone was very young and this place is so new service was great. Parking is usually not an issue in this lot although there are quite a few businesses. There are several competitors in the immediate area but they each offer something unique. Definitely a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. read more

Update to my update: Bae came out with our bowls & they messed up AGAIN. First of all.... it's a MESS just look at the pictures.. I couldn't even open the bowl because the almond butter was so slopped on there it was gluing the top on. While trying to get it open, açaí & almond butter & fruit fell out & made a huge mess in my car & they put HIS mango on my bowl... (my bowl had half açaí half oatmeal) completely unacceptable. UPDATE: Came to give the place another try because bae & I were in the mood for açaí & this was the closest place.. Made the mistake of coming here again... We ordered 2 power bowls substitute for plant protein & added strawberries & blueberries on top. I tell him to go in early so maybe they see him & start working on it since they didn't start mine last time until a while I was standing in front of them... We spoke with a guy on the phone because I forgot to add berries to my bowl & then I confirmed the plant protein for both bowls & the fruit & he confirmed he had it all down. So my fiancé is waiting & he texts me "they messed up really bad. They put whey protein in both the bowls & forgot to put the fruit on top" .... So now I'm wishing I can give 0 stars ..... I've given them enough chances here, save yourself time & money & go to Frutta Bowls... I ordered my bowl at 12:58 online as you can see in my email confirmation. I arrive around 1:25.. They tell me it'll be a few more minutes with an annoyed tone. I watch as they make others orders & they STILL didn't even start mine even though I had ordered 25 minutes ago online... You would think it would have been done after 25 minutes.. at the VERY LEAST finishing up.. But no, I stand there for 15 minutes & they hand me this mess of a bag with fruit juice & almond butter all over the receipt & handles & even all over the containers inside. What's even more annoying, I ordered custom bowls- 2 of which I paid for plant protein. I watched them make my order- I'll say this, save your money & don't even bother adding protein. They use a TABLESPOON.. so not worth it. Further, I watched her make my half oat meal half açaí bowl & I watched her forget to add the plant protein to that bowl and I didn't say anything because I was annoyed waiting 15 minutes there & I didn't want her to restart it any longer because I had to go somewhere. In total, 41 minutes for açaí bowls? Jeez.. This place is just disorganized. I've been to other Playa Bowls locations & I am a Playa Bowls fan; however, this location really puts a stain on their reputation. It was my first time coming to this playa bowls and I was impressed! It was really big (bigger than most playa bowls) and it was not overcrowded which I loved. I ordered one of their specials and it was delicious. The place could of been a little cleaner considering the counter was sticky but other than that I had a really pleasing time while I ate delicious food! I gave this place a 4/5 I definitely am going to return when I'm in the mood for playa bowls but they definitely can clean up a little more so it's even more comfortable place to sit and eat! read more

Decided to take a break from my Taco Bell diet and sought out Playa Bowls as a healthy alternative. Newly opened in Marlboro with a bright interior and inviting ambiance. Felt super basic walking in the door. The menu is HUGE and can be a little intimidating for someone like myself who is used to ordering tacos and chalupas. There are about 20 total bowl options with prices ranging from $9 to $11. Some of the bowls had fruits or other ingredients I had never heard of. Surveying the litany of options in a confused manner, I gravitated towards a familiar friend - Nutella. I ordered the Nutelloco bowl. Banana, coconut flakes, nutella...truly a taste of paradise. Aside from being seemingly healthy, it was also quite tasty. There were little crunchy bits in the bowl I did not recognize, but added a nice crunchy textural component to the dish. Surprisingly, it was quite filling for a meal that did not have any noticeably savory components. I wouldn't come here very often given my Taco Bell diet, but would come back when I'm taking a break and in the hankering for a healthy alternative! read more

This place is great, and right up front here's my Pro Tip, Playa Bowls is far superior to their competitors. Here they make an açaí bowl, amongst other delicious fruit bowls, that is fresh, healthy, and has that açaí sherbet on the bottom. Açaí has more anti-oxidants than prunes, orange juice, or even pomegranate....combined. My bowl had fresh, shredded young coconut, not packaged coconut like the competition, fresh pineapple, strawberries - big, ripe, and juicy, and kiwi. It was also made with crunchy granola and honey. For $9.00 I had two servings; enough for two snacks/meals or for two. People, I swear to you I felt like a million dollars for hours that day, as vitamins and anti-oxidants coursed through my body! Some bowls use pineapple as the base instead of açaí, some use Pattaya (Dragonfruit), Mangosteen (excellent taste from Thailand), or coconut. I have been to a couple of these places, which I understand started in California. When you walk in there is a big open food prep area, and lots of tables, chairs, and sofas to relax in while enjoying your bowl. It's like a juice bar married a Starbucks. It's kind of dark, hipster friendly, and decorated in that coffee house style. Unlike an ice cream place, you can linger/hang out here for as long as you want. Keep in mind, if you snarf down that whole bowl by yourself, you are taking in a lot of carbs, sugar, and calories. So eat half, and save the rest for tomorrow, or share with a friend. Each bowl is made fresh for you, and you can put in, or leave out, whatever you like. This is actually a better treat than ice cream, and much better for you. Be warned, these fruit bowl places are not all the same. Playa Bowl is the best in my opinion. Some other brands do not offer the same freshness or quality, and others drown the bowl in Nutella, which is not exactly low fat/low calorie. Try it, and it will quickly become your new healthy habit. After a workout, for lunch, or just as a refreshing snack. read more

Playa bowls close to home?! I was excited about that. Service was painfully slow and there were only 3 people in front of me. They added more to the menu but I got my classic, "Pura Vida". For some reason, it did not taste nearly as good as when I'm at the shore locations. I wonder if they changed their acai? Did they also change the honey? But I tasted so much apple juice in the acai and water. The honey also tasted really flowery. Something was off. The store itself was so big and the seating was sparse. I couldn't understand all the work space they gave themselves without giving the customers more seating. Personally, I like sticking with the Belmar/Long Branch location. the acai base here is always good, yet there is always something wrong with the toppings. every time i visit, i'm disappointed. i always ask for extra nutella and it is the same as the other bowl i order with regular nutella every time. if i'm paying extra, it needs to be extra. additionally, the mango is always hard when it's supposed to be juicy and flavorful. given this problem, i now drive 20 minutes away to the holmdel location due to the poor service. this problem really should be fixed. read more

Lots of people doing pick up so the place was pretty empty with an adorable little spot in the back for chit chat. Machines are a little noisy but I guess that comes with the turf. Just jumped on the Acai berry bowl craze..I know it's as trendy as an expresso at Starbucks but when your 40+ you can a least say to yourself it's fruit not a Taylor ham egg and cheese at the bagel shop for breakfast. We stopped by this morning before our daughter's soccer game and immediately loved the place. Great employees, who were happy to see customers and not annoyed like some places because I interrupted their ability to post on Instagram. Lots of vegan and GF options. Weird weird concept for food. If I'm being honest which I don't know how else to be, I tried it and it wasn't enjoyable. The chai pudding was way to much on the bottom. It was topped with bananas toasted almonds granola and honey I replaces the honey with peanut butter. It was impossible to enjoy. Too much dry food on top. The bowls were filled so high I couldn't even get the pudding with the rest of the food. And it just was not appetizing. I forced myself to eat it to make myself like it. The manager at this location is an absolute nightmare. I've never been treated so horribly as a paying customer anywhere. She needs a class in business and customer service. My smoothie was made incorrectly. It's an $11 smoothie so I simply asked for it to be remade possibly and went over the ingredients and what I was tasting. She made me stand there for 10 minutes while she stood at the computer with an attitude from the get go. I already had to come back and was late so I had asked if we could get the new order started since the employee behind her remembered me and I was just in within the hour. She tried to tell me 2 different reasons why there shouldn't be a problem. When I told her it didn't taste at all how I'm used to since I'm a frequent customer. She then got even more rude and refused to remake it telling me and everyone in the store that I was "disrespectful"...I didn't raise my voice, curse, or do anything inappropriate. This way of doing business is so ridiculous I still can't even believe this person has a job in customer service. I own a business specifically in customer service and also separately work in food service. I'm appalled at this experience. read more
