I chose a holiday treat with coconut base, blue spirolina, granola, banana, strawberry, coconut flakes, added peanut butter and honey. I am so glad I added peanut butter to give this some savory to balance out the sweet. Several different bases to choose from: acai, mango, coconut, banana, and kale. There are house bowls already for you to choose from, or you can build your own. In addition there are coffee drinks and protein shakes, cold pressed juices, energy drinks, or water. Cute ambiance! I haven't had a smoothie in a long time and for some reason today I was really craving one. After having a relaxing day, I stopped by Playa Bowls to satisfy my craving. I ordered a 16 ounce aloha smoothie which cost about $12 with tip. I can tell this smoothie was made with great ingredients and it tasted very clean and refreshing. I'm not someone who usually writes reviews, but I'm about to go full-on Karen. These bowls are about $15 each, so when you pay extra for ingredients and they're missing-- it's disappointing. I'm an emergency room nurse and got a few of these bowls to bring into work as a nice treat for my team. The Mango bowl, especially, tastes like sad fruit purée which literally tastes like Nothing without the Nutella. I get it -- people forget things sometimes. But when I called, the "solution" offered was a free side of Nutella next time. Like... what? That's what pissed me off to call it "Free" as in I should drive the 45 minutes to come buy another bowl for the "free Nutella"? Any other business would at least replace one of the bowls if they wanted customers to come back. My daughter found this place and we headed out. We love a good acai bowl! Upon walking in you're greeted and notice this place is very appealing to the senses. It's well lit, clean and spacious. They have a large menu hanging on the wall and you can customize if you don't want a fruit or option. My daughter got the Nutella bowl, subbing blueberries for bananas. This bowl was absolutely DELICIOUS! The flavors just popped and so fresh. Love how the acai base doesn't melt away fast either. I got the Pitaya smoothie. It was yummy and not sweet which I like. As an açaí bowl loving gal, I was so excited to try out Playa Bowls. From the moment I stepped into the shop, I instantly loved the colors and decoration of the place. It's so fun and welcoming, the perfect look for a spot like this. The service has been amazing every time I've gone (and trust me, I've been there a lot already lol) and the bowls are always made fresh and to order. My go to is the dragon berry pitaya bowl, but I also tried their February special, their Bae Bowl, and this month's mango themed special bowls. The store immediately gives the vibe of something much more unique than a simple chain restaurant, you got cozy couches, stickers and a fake fireplace. There is ample seating. A built-in electronic fireplace is definitely present for the aesthetics as well as a cute wall, ready for your IG needs. They are serving us Smoothies, Bowls such as Açaí, oatmeal, chia, and Fruit Juices. What's unique? They blend their base for the bowls in house. We tried the electric mermaid pitaya bowl, the tide banana bowl and the Lola kale bowl and every thing was good. The pitaya was the best. Bowls range between $13-$14. I also ordered the Aloha smoothie for a friend and he said it that was refreshing. While I'm still excited to have this Playa Bowl location (Wesley Chapel) and have been visiting almost every two weeks the last few months, I've noticed a huge increase in customers and a big drop in consistency. My first visits were great, but the last three (no exaggeration) have been disappointing. For the price, I felt the quality and consistency were worth it but lately, that hasn't been the case. Simple requests, like the normal amount of peanut butter ( ordered as an add on) or leaving out specific items (such as coconut), seem to be overlooked. Most of my orders are placed online and can be referenced, yet the same issues keep happening. It's frustrating and honestly disappointing, because I want to keep supporting this business that's practically in my backyard. So, Dear management, please encourage staff ( who have been apologetically awesome and friendly) to take a little extra time to read the orders carefully (without assumptions) and properly measure ALL ingredients. Slowing down just enough to get it right would make all the difference.... Very unprofessional and AWFUL smoothie, literally tastes like old stale coffee mixed with dog shit. It took 30 minutes for two smoothies to be made when nobody was in there. I then got my smoothie, that we paid $12 for EACH and it's absolutely DISGUSTING. I asked the girls nicely if I could get something else and she said no. I went in and ordered an $18 bowl that I had ordered before but this time it had almost no base at all. I emailed the company on their website with no response for a week. Then I stopped by and spoke to a manager thinking it could be helpful to let them know that their employees might need some coaching. I showed him the pictures and he made excuses like it must have melted and started showing me how all of his employees measure everything out as if to say it wasn't done wrong etc. No accountability at all. Then he said "well let's get you another one". I assumed he meant he was going to make it correctly at no charge to make up for the mistake but then he wanted me to pay for it. I never asked to order one I simply wanted to make them aware that they are very inconsistent and perhaps they need to speak to their employees about it. I wasnt planning on getting another one that day and NEVER will be back for another one after speaking to him. When you pay that much for something it should be done right. They need a new manager.
