Small seabirds looking for treats in the sand behind retreating waves.

This is a great untouched Atlantic Coast beach and wildlife refuge. No buildings looming behind you or noise other than the beautiful sound of natute. The beach is very long and not crowded, and it has quickly become one of my favorites! The water was perfect, though rip current warnings were in effect both days we visited. There are no lifeguards and only primitive pit toilets in the parking areas. You need to bring everything you are going to want. There are heavy fines for bringing glass or pets onto the beach or disturbing the dunes between the road and the beach. There are lots of families on the south end, which is the beginning. Be advised that the far north stretch of the beach (a mile or more north) is clothing optional. There are big warning signs on the road so you can't mistakenly happen upon someone less covered than you personally prefer. All in all, it is a great place to spend an afternoon!

Super clean beach, almost seems like a private beach! There are always a bunch of parking for all guests and restrooms in each port. 1-6 is family friendly, then 7-10 is nude. There are ramps to get from the parking to the beach, and dumpsters in each port. The sand is pretty soft, but the wind gets crazy strong. Be prepared to bring a heavy duty tent or umbrella because it will fly away. Waves pick up towards the end of the night. I wouldn't consider the waves to be safe for children without supervision. No trash on the beach either! Beach courtesy: please do not bring aluminum, glass, bbq equipment or oversized beach toys. You may see marine life: sharks, turtles, fish, sting rays. You are allowed to fish with a valid fishing license (you may get a temporary one at Walmart). We've been checked once and I'm so glad we got our license days beforehand. There is also a $20 entrance fee per vehicle. This pass is good for one week from the date of entry. Card only. I would say... the rest rooms definitely need renovations. It's similar to a porter potty. Dark, metal seat for the toilet bowl and limited hand soap. There is toilet paper, however. It smells pretty bad. Wish they would add public showers outside each port to wash off excess sand on your bodies and equipment. For the amount we're paying... this would be very helpful for the conservation. Beach access hours depend varying on sunrise, sunset and weather. Overall, very comfortable place to sit back and relax! Just be prepared to enter their restrooms. Park rangers are strict there. They do patrol the area and will kick you out past beach hours.

Great beach! Think the biggest cons are the bathrooms( very dirty), no cell service (hit or miss) and no place to rinse off feet. Saying all that we would come back. The actual beach is very nice

Secluded and quiet during the week, yet alive and buzzing on the weekend. Unlike most beaches in Florida, these beaches are part of Canaveral National Seashore, a national park, so there is a lot of wilderness in its pristine habitat. You see lots of birds, sea creatures, insects, and if you come at dawn or dusk, lots of mosquitoes, so remember your organic bug spray. Coming here is a trek. The ranger's post is about 10 minutes away, by car, from the beach, and the visitor's center is 15 minutes away. At the visitor's center you can find some food and drink, but not to hold you up for more than an hour, they only have snacks. The town of Titusville is about 20 minutes away, and here you can load up at a supermarket. You can walk the beaches, parking 1 through 13, and that is a long walk. Or you can explore a couple of trails on the way to the beach. Only downside: you have to pay $15 to get in, as of this review. The annual pass is $40. We drove like an hour and a half to get there, paid $25 and stayed like 1 hour. The beach is the same Cocoa beach waters but with millions of mosquitos and a horrible pee smell everywhere. The lady at the post was nasty and she actually said-- I can't help since I don't visit the beach???? Anyway we were avoiding the nude sections because of the kids so we drive thru the parking lots -- there are 13 lots-- we drove by lot 9/10 and the last one and there old naked and nasty people in the parking lots by their cars!!! And the rangers MIA hanging out at charge post-- no beach watch?? ---so we went back to lot 4 and it was better. They have letrines --- we pay $25 and they don't have running water anywhere no sinks no showers-- and explained the horrible smell in the parking lot. it's says no dogs and a lady had her dog next to her. There many other areas 20 miles from SR46 were you will find the same nice beach and free- the state park near by also had nice bathrooms. I guess when there are NASA events it might be worth it -- but not for a beach day-- NEVER GOING BACK FOR SURE ! I wonder what the city do with that money.... Shame on them.

What a perfect day at the Playa Linda beach with my family. We LOVED this beach because it was quiet, clean and breathtaking and we saw a pod of DOLPHINS!!! Each parking area has a bathroom and boardwalk over the dunes to a gorgeous beach. We saw several areas staked off and covered with mesh that we believed were loggerhead turtle nesting grounds. So people be carful to not disturb those areas. We stopped at parking lot #6 and only had 3 cars in the whole lot. The beach was basically deserted and we felt like we had it all to ourselves. We found tons of gorgeous seashells and enjoyed the day immensely. Bring plenty of food and water because there's nothing to buy in the park and the entrance fee was $10 for an all day pass. I think that's a great rate for peace and serenity. FYI-we were wondering why the parking lots at the north end which are lots 12 and 13 were so busy. Finally figured it out....that's the nude beach! You've been warned

The wait line at the gate is insane. It took me 2 hours to pass the guard to pay $20 to get in. My first visit it took me 1 hour and recently 2 hours. It was unnecessary because the beach was not packed. It was just the clerk at the gate that was working alone without any help. They should have 2 lines to get in, plus a ranger driving near the line informing people what is going on. It so ridiculous the wait. Also, there is no shower, no water anyway in there, just to let you know. The $20 that you pay is for the pavement road and the wood ramp that will take you to the beach and a potty with hand sanitizer.

It is so beautiful and remote and full of wildlife. The best part... it's free! This is a beautiful driving trail designed just for soaking up wildlife. Our favorite part of coming here is rolling down the windows and counting the various birds and alligators. At one time we counted 13 alligators in one drive. It's fun to see who can spot the most. The drive takes less than 40 minutes but if you really take your time and stop in the sections reserved for pulling over and parking you can spend hours here. There are various spots with viewing towers to overlook the reserve. There are also interpretive signs explaining the bird species in the area. I would highly suggest taking a detour next time you go to the Kennedy space center and taking a drive here. Also some advice is to bring drinks and snacks for the car because you may grow hungry on the remote drive.

While attending a conference…read morerecently, I needed a little bit of an escape and decided to head toward to coast to get my nature fix. I ultimately only chose to come here because it was the closest place with manatee viewing. I made the drive from Orlando, and made my first stop at the Visitor Center. If you have your America the Beautiful pass, you're all set, but I didn't get a new one this year, so I paid $10 for my visitor pass. Cin at the volunteer desk was super helpful and showed me where I should go. I ultimately decided on the Black Point Wildlife Drive - a 7-ish mile drive that provided some great opportunities to see various birdlife. If you're a birder - which apparently I've become - you'll enjoy this. I saw a variety of species almost immediately, and I bet there are even better times to come through this area to see larger flocks during migration. I took my time on the drive and enjoy the quiet and relative remoteness of the place. After that I headed east and then north to check out the Manatee Observation Deck by the Haulover Canal. I stayed here for a short amount of time, but didn't see anything. So on Cin's advice, I went back toward the Bairs Cove boat launch. And boy was this a treat. There were no people when I first arrived, but there were definitely manatees. After a while, a few other people showed up just for watching manatees - not to put boats in. One lady put her feet in the water and manatees came up and booped their noses on her feet. It was incredible to see these creatures in the wild - some of them mothers with little ones twirling around by their sides. The skies started to turn black, and while I personally missed the rainstorm, it was time to pack up and head out back to Orlando. I'm so glad I made the decision to come here, and I highly recommend it for any of those who are nature-lovers!

A company called Calypso Kayaking thar rents canoes out of here. The launch area can be a little difficult if you're not super agile or if your paddle board is heavy - the best way I can describe it is it's a sloped staircase made of wood planks and dirt (I think it was about 5-6 steps if I remember correctly). It wasn't difficult going down, however, I was using my friend's Bote SUP, which is pretty heavy and it was difficult for me to carry it up the steps especially after a difficult and physical paddle with windy conditions. If I was using a lighter board I don't think it would've have been too difficult for me. This park also has nice a cute little playground and clean restrooms that are open year round. There is a covered picnic area with grills. And the parking lot at both the launch area and near restrooms are paved. We were there at low tide and the water was very shallow in some areas - so shallow that we had to get off our SUPs at one point and pull them through the water a few feet so we didn't damage our fins. It was great having the shallow waters because we saw LOTS of stingrays, horseshoe crabs and fish! Also lots of water birds throughout our paddle! One of the islands that we stopped at had a nice beach area and beautiful dead tree that made for great photo ops! All in all, this is a great location to launch for SUP and kayak. The rules mention not being responsible for Theft a few times and by their actions of sitting behind plexiglass when you arrive is a big statement. The Dog Park was okay as was the area near the pier. The sites were certainly not part of any plan as they are haphazardly laid out and numbering is inconsistent. Unlike Paid or State Parks, there is ZERO cleaning of the sites between visitors. We found metal objects, cigarette butts and it hadn't been raked since the Carter administration. The park rules are currently at 32, but there really is no one who is monitoring or enforcing these rules that we saw in our 4 days on property. So what is the point? Quiet hours were not enforced, so the partying continued into the night. We had 8 different people walk right through our site during our stay as a shortcut: right of the RV, left of the RV and while we were eating dinner. This happened even after asking them to stop and putting up cones, ropes and chairs as obstacles. Perhaps that should be rule number 33. Once a person brought their Rottweiler right through our site adjacent between the picnic table and our dog. This is a safety issue for all. No one wants people walking through their site after 10 pm, which did happen. Obviously we will never return to this campground. The views of the Launch are great, but that can't be the only amenity at $50 + per night. Since the gate is open often at night, one recommendation would be for the Sheriff office to drive through at random times or at least have a ranger/host onsite to address issues. This would be an easy deterrent to potential theft or speeding issues inside the campground.

The proximity to I 95 offers a nice stopover…read morefor travelers however, beyond that there's not much in the immediate area (both the national seashore and Kennedy space Center are a bit of a drive). The reception area offers very limited convenience items, and while the folks that greeted at the front desk were nice, they were clearly sick and unmasked (coughing in customers faces) and no sign of a yellow KOA shirt to identify personnel. From our perspective, we're starting to see that many of these campgrounds have stopped catering to the short term camper/travelers that are not in 40+ foot self-contained rigs ( ie not using centralized amenities). The trailer or camper parking spaces are concrete which is a plus and include a nice picnic table and barbecue grill. Cabins and tent Camping on the grass is also available in the park. Cable hook up is also available. The electric and water were in good working order at our site. Some spaces are a little larger and offer fire pits for an additional fee. The reason we cannot give them a higher rating, is the condition of the bathrooms and general security surrounding the Campground. While the large bathrooms have key code door locks, they were inoperable most of the time, and there is nothing (fence, gate, security guard) to prevent outside traffic and foot traffic from entering the campground. We observed Campground outsiders/transients utilizing bathrooms and laundry facilities unchecked. The showers were spacious enough in the central facility, but temperature regulation (ice cold or scalding hot) and/or water pressure was nonexistent with hot water not available in several of the shower stalls. The ladies handicapped bathroom door lock was broken. Bathrooms available by the poolside are open to the public, not clean, and the men's bathroom door appeared to have been kicked in and gone unrepaired for some period of time. These were reported to the front desk, but nothing had been done before we left. The entire facility needs a once over on the maintenance side and a good cleanup. There is no garbage pick up service at the individual campsites that is typically found at other KOAs. All trash must be hauled to the front entry of the campground. I would say that this location is OK if you're looking for a night or two stop on a journey , or for someone who has their own rig and does not plan on using the central bathrooms, beyond that I would suggest you consider alternative options. This location is not a standard representation of the KOA brand.

It's a KOA and it not so far from what I expected…read more Location - Exit 223 off I-95 in Mims, Florida. - There are two convenient stores /gas stations within a few hundred yards of the entrance one just after exiting the interstate and one prior to the entrance ramp on reentry to I-95. Noise Level: yes I can hear the traffic from the interstate traffic when my air conditions aren't running so I'm sure if you're in a tent or in a cabin it could be somewhat annoying. Much of the noise I noticed was the sound of kids running on the play ground screaming with laughter or splashing in the pool - this wasn't so annoying to me, it actually reminded me of my childhood when I spent countless weekends camping with my family. If I wanted total silence I guess I'd find a deserted beach or boon-dock in some remote wilderness area, those are amazing moments too but not the norm at a family camp ground so set reasonable expectations and you may look at this place differently. Accommodations: Tent Camping - Cabins - Back-in or Pull-through sites for practically any size Motor-Coach or Camper. I paid under $100.00 for a premium site for my 38' Coach with all the hook-ups (50 Amp Electrical Service, Water, Dual Sewer Connections and Cable) from Saturday at 12:00 PM until Monday at 12:00 PM - they have a store, they have a laundry facility, showers and bathrooms if you need them. They have a playground for the kids and a giant pool. Most of the sites are shady and concrete, with a picnic table and are nicely landscaped. There are plenty of trash bins next to the office and they even have a clothing donation kiosk if you are feeling charitable. What could be better: The roads are paved, gravel or dirt depending on where your site is - the roads are narrow and the turns are tight (you may want to unhook the toad before going to your site) your guide will meet you at check-in and take you to your site, my guide was Eric he stayed until I parked and he explained the hook-ups. Your neighbors may be a little close but all I encountered were friendly. Wildlife and Domestic Animals: I met a few friendly squirrels and noticed one cat that seemed to be friendly - I didn't encounter any feral cats or barking dogs. I did encounter a small lizard but he was friendly too. All in all no complaints here...
