THE WORST campground I've ever stayed at. The staff were extremely rude and dismissive to me and any of my issues. They also changed my campground from a way smaller one than what I paid for. I tried to explain to the staff that I needed the larger site that I paid for, as I had a tent and rv one one site (approved by their camp rules), but the staff dismissed my concerns. read more

First impressions are a real thing and when you check in you are greeted with a DMV style plexiglass window (and staff) to conduct transactions and nothing says welcome to Lee County like 2 pages of rules and a required copy of your ID. Amenities: The bathroom was generally clean but you are reminded constantly that theft is a problem when the toilet paper is triple locked in the stalls and you have to pay a refundable $20 fee to use the pickleball courts. The rules mention not being responsible for Theft a few times and by their actions of sitting behind plexiglass when you arrive is a big statement. The Dog Park was okay as was the area near the pier. The sites were certainly not part of any plan as they are haphazardly laid out and numbering is inconsistent. Unlike Paid or State Parks, there is ZERO cleaning of the sites between visitors. We found metal objects, cigarette butts and it hadn't been raked since the Carter administration. The park rules are currently at 32, but there really is no one who is monitoring or enforcing these rules that we saw in our 4 days on property. So what is the point? Quiet hours were not enforced, so the partying continued into the night. We had 8 different people walk right through our site during our stay as a shortcut: right of the RV, left of the RV and while we were eating dinner. This happened even after asking them to stop and putting up cones, ropes and chairs as obstacles. Perhaps that should be rule number 33. Once a person brought their Rottweiler right through our site adjacent between the picnic table and our dog. This is a safety issue for all. No one wants people walking through their site after 10 pm, which did happen. Obviously we will never return to this campground. The views of the Launch are great, but that can't be the only amenity at $50 + per night. Since the gate is open often at night, one recommendation would be for the Sheriff office to drive through at random times or at least have a ranger/host onsite to address issues. This would be an easy deterrent to potential theft or speeding issues inside the campground. read more

Nice shaded sites , they have a pool and sell the essentials in the front office if you forgot them. A small bikepath that goes along the waterfront with a pavilion. There is a small fed dog area and the best part of all it's directly across from the Cape. If you are here during a launch it's something, you'll never forget. read more

This place is no for us. The staff here need remedial training on hospitality or just a hug might do. My neighbor told us about this place and warned us about how rude the staff are. He was not wrong, but all other campgrounds were booked so we decided to give it a try. Seriously though I think the only thing that makes them happy is seeing that you're not. I don't know why they are so grumpy but maybe it's because watching everyone else have fun makes them mad. The grounds are unkept and very close together. Theres chunks of broken concrete all over the camp sites. The bathrooms look and smell like they never get cleaned although someone seems to change the trash. The place has one thing going for them and that's the fishing pier with a beautiful view of the Indian River. If you want a quiet experience, then definitely do not go here. Its located right on US-1 with lots of traffic and trains that blow their whistles throughout the PM and AM. BEWARE DO NOT GO HERE!!!! read more

We were assigned a site different from the one I booked. The site was extremely small. Our rv was literally up against the camp site behind us. When I asked the ranger if we could move to another site, he said they reassigned us because we booked too large of a site for a 26' rv. I informed him our rv was 30'. He told me it says 26 on his info sheet and we could not relocate. They hand you a pamphlet with a map and park rules. There are 32 rules! One are no ground fires allowed, but they will sell you a SMALL fire bowl for $75! Our friends joined us and parked their car in the empty site behind us because there was no room at our site. The next day the ranger came and told us to move the car or we would be kicked out. When I complained that they gave us too small of a site and there were larger ones available (empty) he became irate and told me he would kick us out if I kept on. This ranger obviously enjoys exercising his authority. Although we enjoyed watching 2 launches and the convenience of proximity to the Kennedy Space Center, we will NEVER camp at this park again. More of 2,5 stars. Breakdown: -the sites are a bit close, but typical. -DON'T SIT DOWN on the picnic tables as they are covered in sap. -the bathrooms and showers were clean! TRAINS!!! OMG. ALL FRIGGING NIGHT!!! it isn't that they rumble by, that would be fine. But they blare the horns all night long! Just as you're doIng off from the last blast. There or is again! -PLANES!!! Low flying until 1 a.m. -Affordable - decent pool and plenty of activities -ADA pier - Wi-Fi -sand fleas (?) because the sites are sandy, our feet are all kinds of bitten up! (sandals) I am a bit curious about the check in process... it's a bit like Fort Knox. There are guards taking hour information behind bullet proof glass, passing papers and exchanges through a tiny slot under the bottom. What kind of area are we in? Not at all a "howdy friend" kind of welcome. Oh, and when a customer asks about moving sites at check in, please don't say it is because your full when you aren't. Especially when we can see the park is 1/2 empty. That is just a lie which leaves an unpleasant interaction in the memory. read more

I'd give this place a 0 star if I could. Unfortunately I have to give it at least 1 star. Spots are super tight. We literally backed up to a water drainage ditch in the sand. Good luck leveling your camper. The picnic tables are completely rotted. The water pressure was horrible. We filled our own fresh tank and used our own pump while we were there. And we couldn't even dump our tanks because their dump access was overflowing. I guess if there was a launch it would be worth it because I've been told you can see them from the park. Thankfully it was only a one night stay as we were passing though. Never again would I stay here. I'd rather boondock in a Walmart parking lot because that was basically what we did here. read more

The lady who worked yesterday afternoon was so beyond rude, and acted like she had a personal vendetta against me. I was trying to book a site just for one night so I could have a safe place to stay. She REFUSED to book me a site just because I was driving my ford transit camper van. Even though I explained to her I had a tent and would be more than happy to set it up and sleep in that as their rules state that people can't sleep in "vehicles". She told me that someone would come and check if I was inside my tent in the middle of the night (which seems incredibly creepy and like such a breech of privacy to me). I'm not sure what I would do if a stranger came in the middle of the night to unzip my tent to see if i was inside. After wasting my time with all that, and explaining my van was fully self contained, she still would not let me book a site, or an RV site, which she said they had no more left of even though they did on their website and I could see open spots. Beautiful place to enjoy nature. The campsites are pretty close to each other. So, there's not much privacy, if you go on a busy season. However, it's actually quiet and serene. I was only here for two days, and there was a lot to do. The amenities include: swimming pool, pavilions, shuffleboard courts, dog park, laundry facilities, showers, and many more. There's a stunning view of the Indian River Lagoon. You can come here to fish, kayak, enjoy a picnic, and if you are brave enough, you can swim. The waters seemed very rough. I was told that this a great place to view the space launches at Kennedy Space Center. It has a convenient location. If you are ever needing something, there is a Publix just down the road. Many trees, thus, it's super shady. The restrooms and showers are clean. I can't complain, everything was fantastic. read more

I felt as though the older reviews do not accurately reflect the current camping experience, as we had a terrible experience. The check in lady was very rude; both when we called to make the reservation & when we arrived a few weeks later. Our site flooded from a broken pipe the first couple hours we were there & there was no phone number on the check in "rules". We had to run around camp & after not finding anyone to help, we went on Yelp for the phone number. They shut the water off but only after we had a couple inches of mud under & surrounding our tents, and they did not even offer us to move. The campground location is nice & the view is gorgeous. The RV campsite area appears nice, however in the tent camping area there are several primitive permacampers who have no respect for those of us catching a quick weekend getaway. We were camped in a wedge shaped spot by the bay & backed right up to our boundary line was a double tent with tarps over it... air conditioning, television & microwave... there was a man & woman & three kids ranging in ages from young teen to toddler. They were noisy & inconsiderate of their surrounding neighbors. (In fact, it seemed they were PURPOSEFULLY being extra noisy, although we maintained our composure & politely ignored their attempts!) On our first night there we dealt with a screaming baby and loud NASCAR narratives coming from said camp. Then in the camp on the other side of us there were two couples in a three tent compound, who were also talking loudly during the race long into the night. A woman began screaming angry profanities and threatening to kill someone (who apparently wrote on her man's Facebook page). She protested at the top of her lungs from around 11:30PM-12AM. Needless to say, we didn't feel safe. The next morning the three tent compound moved 3 spaces over to another camp spot. It literally took them all day & we saw a television & even a desktop computer come out of that tent, along with actual bed mattresses, tables, etc etc. (Not my idea of a friendly campground for travelers when there are folks that are permitted to live here & act so unfavorably toward other people who are visiting). We ended up packing early & leaving before our 2nd night due to the rude camping neighbors & lack of manager intervention. It seems they haven't taken the trash out in awhile, so we won't be back. What a shame because this was a special weekend for us as my nephew is enlisted in the Army & leaves for boot camp in the morning... this was our last hoorah, so it is quite disappointing that we had such a terrible experience with the flooded camp & not feeling safe. Overall good experience. Site: the camping sites are a decent size, we had (2) 4 person tents with plenty of room for a camp fire and chairs. Sites come with power and a picnic table. I will say you are closer to the other sites than I expected so if you're fixing to have a wild time, be aware their quiet hours start at 10. Facilities: There are restrooms and showers central, they are cleaner than I expected for camping. If you're going to shower, definitely bring flip flops to shower in as it gets sandy and muddy in there. There is a nice dock on the river, a fenced in dog area, and a volleyball net. There is a grill near a bigger communal pavilion too. Price: for our spot it was just under $60, we had a spot right near the dock and restrooms. Two cars fit comfortably in the spot. Heads up: there are a lot of one way roads, hamocking is not permitted, and you'll need everyone in your party and their license to check in. There are not guaranteed fire pits- so do call and ask about the status of renting a fire pit. also (as I am new to camping) it is a little misty in the morning time so everything does get rather damp, including the inside of the tent. Terrible experience with these rangers! They'll hassle you for even the smallest infraction. We watched a young family removed by Sheriffs Deputies late at night. How embarrassing that this county park is wasted by lousy administration. Who kicks out a family from a campground in the middle of the night. Deputies tell us it was for rules infraction when we saw nothing more than a family having fun all weekend. Will never recommend this facility to anyone even with the beautiful views and property. read more

Still the best place to "home" in FL Space Coast area, or convenient to Hwy 1 (and no terribly far from I-95), this is our 4th Feb. at Manatee Hammock on the Indian River. Didn't seem like as much train & plane noise as before but it was warmer than average and we ran A/C most of the time. Rates have gone up to about $40 for 2024 - from $29 our 1st yr. Most public campgrounds are raising fees and compared to private campgrounds ...still good for us. Seemed like they are getting more 1- or 2- nighters than in previous years, so they may have lost some folks with raise in cost. They've put barriers up where people were walking through others' sites to go toward the facilities (as always, clean bathhouses, pool, rec room, laundry [machines aging but still work]), appreciated but a little overdone with multiple signs (our 1st year we were in a site used as a shortcut, people walking through all the time). This year we stayed in the area away from the Entry & Exit roads (to the right - down from the trash area) and we liked it much better. (Even though we had to take a walk to access the facilities .)Quieter, less traffic, safer for us & our grandchildren to ride bicycles. Kudos to the County for preserving this piece of land with big trees and tropical foliage. The Best place - the Bonus! - to see the Launches at NASA - right across the River. read more

First the good, great place to watch launches, good value price, but you get what you pay for. Bad: To many trees, drop acorns all night, sounds like golfballs on roof. Sap from trees ruined my roof, been here for almost 3 weeks and when it rains, a complete mud hole! And since no sun, spot takes DAYS to kinda of dry up. But short stay should be fine. Can't tie hammocks to trees, per rules! Some LONG term RVs here, need some major TCL, no easy water access, a old boat ramp that you can use for hand launch only. Due to sewer locations, and water, make sure you have EXTRA hoses due to lenth. Asked to be moved, they weren't able to help. But saw MANY sites that never got used while we were there. During our stay at this campground in April 2019 for 9 days and we found the park to be a great stop. We stayed Site 22 and had a large area. Some of the other reviews are correct in that there were perma-tent campers in the park but they were on the opposite side from us. We were able to enjoy 2 launches from the pier during our stay and it was convenient to other attractions. This appears to be a city/county run park and while it does have its drawbacks, we found it enjoyable and would stay again. read more

Ever since I was a kid i enjoyed camping and the outdoors in general. So, it makes perfect sense that I would one day own a camper and relive my youth with my kids. My wife and I just purchased our first camper almost a week ago and were so eager to try it out that we started calling all of the nearest campgrounds and checking availability. Manatee Hammock had some spots available, so off to MH we went, with camper in tow. The real one and only reason for the four star review is because I'm not so much of a fan of campgrounds whose lots are too close together. I don't mind there being people to meet, but maybe not so close. This probably isn't an issue at the right time of year, but right now it is tight. Once I got it backed in, set up and realized we were too close to the trees to pull out the awning...we were officially camping for the first time, in our new camper! The first night was rough because of rain, but the second day was absolutely beautiful. They have great areas to walk your dog, an awesome view of the water and a bonus pier to fish off of or just soak in all the scenery. The leash less dog park earns major bonus points. Each camping spot featured 30amp power, sewer hookup and water. $55 for two nights? Yes!!! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Especially for us first timers. Our plan is to tour Florida, the east coast and eventually head over towards the west with our new camper. I think we picked a great place for our first official camping trip as a family. read more

After camping at many nice parks in FL, GA, and NC this place is more like a parking lot than a campground... No ground fires but also no grills provided in the campsites. One grill for many campsites was already in use. This was one of the most egregious issues given that we needed a fire to cook our dinner and that campfires are essential to camping. Apparently we were supposed to buy and bring our own bulky fire pit. 3-4 loud trains overnight with boisterous honking. Noisy trucks driving through the campground, other campers singing and playing music, and barking dogs. Annoying cars and trucks with no mufflers. Called to reserve a campsite for 5 adults and 4 kids (camper trailer and one tent), arrived to be given one of the smallest sites and charged an extra $10 x 3 kids x 2 nights = $60. The person taking our reservation should have just given us two sites. Most campsites have poor tree coverage. Spot was difficult to back camper trailer into. Lots of dopey kids riding bikes around and people waiting on the road as if they'd never seen someone backing in a trailer before. With trailer backed in to the campsite, the sewer hookup was just uphill enough from the camper to be annoying. Dogs just roaming the campground as if they own the place. Only dumpsters are all the way at the front of the campground making it inconvenient to dispose of trash. No recycle bins. Bathrooms are dumpy. No dividers between the urinals. 3rd urinal is ridiculously close to the shower entrance. Toilet paper hung in improper underhand fashion. read more

Manatees Hammock is a beautiful park. My boyfriend ,puppy and I camp here several times a year. The people are friendly the park is beautiful. The restrooms, pool and laundry room are all clean. This park is very dog friendly and has a leash free area for your fur babies. We camping often and this truly is one of our favorite places. If your in need of a little night life there's the port at port Canaveral which is only 20 min away or go right down the road, truly walking distance to Pintos a fun neighborhood bar with entertainment. read more

Paid for three nights and only stayed for one. When my family and I first arrived, we did notice that the sites were very close to each other. The staff was friendly and people staying there seemed pretty nice. If you want a fire ring or extra table, there is a $10 charge per stay. This place is "pet friendly" but the smell of dog poop was overwhelming and you have to watch where you step, otherwise you will be tracking dog poop in your camp site. If you don't enjoy the smell of dog poop, then the reek smell of marijuana will cover the other. Restrooms seemed cleaned until a pack of kids went in there and tore that place up with toilet paper and paper towels. This place is not peaceful as others would say, since there was a constant train horn blaring every hour all day long and into the night. I'm not kidding, it was the loudest train horn I have ever heard. And just when you thought the noise was gone, gun shots from the mobile home park next to us went off and cops rolled up about 5 minutes later. But we did get to see a small rocket take off across the river from NASA. That was fun, for about 3 minutes. It's fun camping here... if you stay in your RV! read more

Dirty bathrooms, stinky garbage, and rude employees Booked this place before a long drive from PA. We booked here due to the pool. Nothing on the site indicated it was closed and nothing said to us when we called. When we got here it had been closed for months for maintenance and wouldn't be open for several more months. Employee was super rude when we complained and wanted to charge a cancellation fee for us to leave. They follow you around if you are doing 10mph instead of 5 and then rip out of your campsite at 40mph after they lecture you. I would steer clear of this place. read more

Camped out here for 1 night in a tent. My site was right next to the water! Woke up and had breakfast to an incredible view. I wasn't bothered by other campers in this area, though many walked past to go down to the dock or dog park. Everyone was pleasant and respectful (especially after dark). Site was about $30 for one night. My tent site included electricity and water but fires are only allowed in raised fire pits (not provided), and despite the name, hanging hammocks from trees is not permitted. I'll start with the pros. Our site was right across from the dock and boat launch, which was intentional so we could easily get our kayaks into the water. Beautiful sunrises over the river and it was a full moon, amazing. We saw a raccoon, dolphins, a manatee, a bull shark, a puffer fish, crabs, rays, many, many fish and birds, including an osprey fishing and two owls that were hunting every evening at dusk from the dog park to the volleyball net. I have to say the guy they had regularly cleaning the bathrooms gets five stars. The bathrooms were always very clean, some mud tracked in because it was rainy and the river, and people going to the beach, but otherwise very clean. About every third time we went over there the floor was wet and it had just been cleaned. And let me just say they were packed to the hilt. I mean, and here is where the rating goes to one star.... We were packed in like sardines. It was horrible, one campsite on top of another and no privacy whatsoever! I was allowed to have two tents and a screen room...uh, where? We only had half a site! ...and NO FIRE PITS!!! Who ever heard of a campsite with no fire pit?! I talked to an older couple with an RV who said they had moved from Wickham Park because Wickham didn't allow fires, only to find out they had to have a portable fire pit at Manatee Hammock.... Ridiculous! The pool was CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE. There were a rec room and a laundry, but both required cash. I couldn't use my debit card to get change for the laundry or to put a deposit on the equipment for the rec room. In addition, there was a guy in the office who was extremely rude. First I tried to stay another night because a launch had been pushed back to that next night. He didn't look, just said, "No, we're booked. You should have planned ahead." Excuse me?! Then when I tried to get the change for the laundry he repeated, "You should have planned ahead." I'm sorry, but that is straight up rude! First of all, I did plan ahead. I got paid Friday and it was in the bank. That was my plan. Second of all, while laundry facilities are a relatively new addition to campgrounds, as a mom, I've been thoroughly thrilled to go home with everything washed and ready to put away. Most of the places we've gone had credit availability on the machines and large capacity washers and dryers. This place had beat up old machines that are smaller than my own washer, and no way they would wash a sleeping bag. I have another note about the bathroom. They had a sign that literally said, "Please flush before and after you wipe". Ummm...WHAT?! How about investing in toilets that will flush properly? The showers were amazing, but I only used two of them. There was a step up into a stall with a bench and two hooks, then a step down into the shower. Both had curtains and the water stayed shower side. The back one, no complaints. But the middle one, which I only used once, had a hole in the outside curtain, a large hole, chest level.... And every time someone opened the door to the bathroom the curtain would swing open. It was challenging and I didn't use it again. We had a blast, lots to do in the area if you like animals and the outdoors. We went to the beach and Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. There was a Manatee Viewing Deck and a Wildlife Drive we spent four hours in! But the campground itself is a solid no, not going back. read more

After searching for the perfect campground for Christmas for my Husband and I to tent camp, I found Manatee Hammock (at the last minute)... It seemed to have everything we wanted but after purchasing the spot, I found out within seconds (from nother poster) that it did not have what we NEEDED.... there are NO GRILLS and NO FIRE PITS at the sites... At this point Im panicked because I already paid for the non refundable space, its midnight but I called anyway (knowing campgrounds like this have someone there 24 hrs). No answer, okay.. I started calling at 8 am the following morning and did not reach anyone until after 10 am.... I asked, before I have to cancel the reservation that I made at midnight the night before.... Do you really not have fire pits or grills at the site.... She said it was true, she canceled my reservation and and in a round about way told me tough shit bring your own... She charged me the $45 cancllation fee... I begged her not do do that, I explained I JUST rented the site the night before and would understand if I had held it for weeks and then cancelled but she was not understanding at all and clearly had NO holiday spirit... It was apparent that she had never found herself in a sitution like this. It is all about the delivery, if she wasnt such a nasty woman... maybe I would have said, rules are rules and she is just doing her job... I canceled the site anyway and I call Longpoint Park (Still Brevard County)... They were awesome.... They found us a site (all thier site have fire pits and grills)... The reason I chose to write this review was because people need to know there are NO FIREPITS & NO GRILLS at the sites and when I contacted the other Brevard county parks, they all said that they could not belive Manatee Hammock did that... Honestly I am sure it is an incredibly beautifl park BUT I will never give them a dime unless they refund my money... I even called back leaving the nicest voicmeail telling them that I secured another site at another Brevard Campground, thinking if I kept the money within their county they may... and they couldnt even return my call... My husband and I have been here twice now and love everything about this campground. Full hookups and great for bike riding and kayaking. The dog enclosure is huge and clean. What a nice place. A little slice of Gilligan's Island. So many palm trees. Backed up right to the Indian River. Saw manatees and dolphins. Has a pier where people were fishing. Also right across the water from the launch pad, so was able to watch a rocket go off. Staff is more than friendly. Would definitely recommend it. read more

Camped out here on with my boyfriend and our dogs for New Year's and we had a great time. The location is nice if you are looking for peace and quiet. Cute little waterfront park area though it was super crowded because of the holiday. Restrooms/bath houses were closed on half of the park for renovations but the ones that were open were nice and appeared/smelled like they were cleaned regularly. Can't beat this place, especially for the price. read more

The lady at check in had a terrible attitude especially when presented with a passport America card. Campsites where very muddy but I don't really mind much as it is better for the environment with less concrete. View of the rocket launch area is superb. I hope they replace the lady at the front desk as someone like that has no place in the hospitality industry. Would have given it 4 stars. read more

We have been coming to Manatee Hammock for over 15 years. We took about a year and a half off as we sold our RV but we missed OUR PARK so much! We bought another RV last December (2017) and spent new Year's Eve there. There was still quite a bit of damage left from Matthew but we still had a great time. Our last visit was 2 weeks ago and it was awful! Gone are the days of relaxation at manatee Hammock. The new rules that have been enacted are ridiculous. We actually got written up not once but twice for my 15 year old riding the battery operated golf cart from our campground to the shower by the office. he has his learners permit but that made no difference. This is not a motorized gas vehicle. Our neighbor was on a corner lot and plugged a small FAN to one of the outlets and HE was written up. FOR PLUGGING IN A FAN! This used to be such an enjoyable place to come and relax. Rob and Cheryl were the best! Bjorn has absolutely NO customer service or leniency in his body. He is rude and disrespectful to his guest, long time guests like us or first timers like our neighbors. It is so sad that this was once a fantastic place to go and I would and have recommended several of my fellow campers to try it out. I am now posting anywhere I can to stay away. You are the first place, but trust me I will find EVERY site that I can find to implore everyone to stay as far away from Manatee Hammock as they can. read more

4 stars for the price. Beautiful view. Clean restrooms. Well lighted. Would come again for a night or two.
